NJ Transit metropark station

Two of three overhead radiant heaters in one (most used) shelter on the New York bound platform (Track 1) - this is the first shelter to the right (East - toward New York) of the stairs (and elevator) coming up from the station house to the platform - are broken and have been broken since the spring of 2017. It is now getting cold and, as this is the most used shelter on the platform, it should be repaired as soon as possible.

NJ Transit bus driver

Every tuesday at 7 am I take the bus 108 newark / ny number. When we pass the second toll there is a traffic. The bus driver gets nervous and honks. The bus is very close to cars not having a safe distance. Brakes and accelerates compulsively. I even felt nauseous by the discomfort of his brakes. It's a terrible journey.
Date 07/11
Number bus 5425

NJ Transit the 63/64 bus doesn't run past 6:45pm

I have to work until 7PM every other week and there are hardly any options when it comes to the commute home. The parking garages in Jersey City are very expensive. Why do the busses only run until 6:43PM?

Is there anyone who would be able to assist me with figuring out an alternate route to take? I am having a difficult time navigating the site.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

NJ Transit bus 113n to nyc

Thankfully, I just boarded a 113 bus at Midway and Terrill Road, on my way to Port Authority in NYC, at about 6:50 pm. I say thankfully because he was passing by the stop even though I had my cell phone open so that he'd see someone was there. He said he didn't see it till he passed. He did stop further up the block.

This stop has absolutely no lights. This is a safety hazard! This is not fair or safe for the pedestrians.

Lights need to be put at the bus stops, in all areas.

NJ Transit bus driver for bus # 780 - hackensack, nj terminal to passaic, nj

This evening 11/03/2017 at 5:36pm I took a NJ Transit, Bus # 780 but from Hackensack, NJ to Essex St and Prospect Ave, this bus was going to Passaic, NJ.

I went on the bus and gave the driver a one zone ticket and told him him I am going to Prospect and Essex very nicely. The driver is a very black dark skinned driver with an accent.

The diver responded and said, come here boy,

do you know who you are dealing with, I'm the most "DANGEROUS" NJ Transit driver.

This driver had tried to intimate me several time before and other passengers on this route. Every-time, I go one the bus and give him the ticket, he said something.

This driver has some serious mental issues and is a treat to the public and a serious liability to NJ Transit.

This driver threatens me daily on several occasions and other passengers daily on this route and MUST be removed from this route, NJ Transit as a driver and should be fired.

I am a lawyer and going to file a lawsuit again NJ Transit about this driver if he is NOT been removed from this route and fired from this company.

This driver has very very serious mental issues and is a liability to NJ Transit.

Please removed this sick person from the company "PLEASE".

PLEASE REMOVED THIS DRIVER HE IS A VERY SICK PERSON WITH VERY SERIOUS MENTAL ISSUES.

NJ Transit nj transit bus 95

On 10/30, the bus from Scotch Plains to Newark that starts it's route at 6:30am never showed up. Furthermore, this same bus very often says "No Passengers" on the front and side of the bus, instead of the route number, even though it is in service and taking passengers. Twice I did not waive down the driver and missed my bus because of this. Now I know if I ever see a bus approaching with the "No passengers" sign around the time I expect it to arrive, I waive down the driver. This has happened 3 times. These events are infuriating because it's another 30 minutes until the next bus comes!

NJ Transit employee

Every morning I take the train from Dunellen to union. This morning (10/30) @ 7:54am when I boarded the train on the 7683 car the same person came to collect my ticket. I had forgotten my monthly pass in another bag at home so I proceeded to buy one off the app on my phone that literally takes 10 seconds to do. He screamed at me saying "you should have done that before you got on the train!" And walked away..super humiliating and unprofessional. As he came back around to check th ticket I bought on my phone my foot was resting in the seat in front of me and said "do you wanna watch your foot?" Again, extremely rude and unprofessional. Every day he has an attitude like this, it's just today that I've had enough.

NJ Transit nj transit bus 166

The driver of Bus 166 that arrives at the Englewood, Hudson Ave and Dean St stop at 4:51am did not stop to pick me up on Oct 19, Thursday. I was at the stop, waved him down and he never even slowed down. It cost me money to get a Lyft to North Bergen to pick up another bus and I was late for work anyway which cost me more money. This is not the first incident with this driver. On October 9, Monday 4:51 am he did the same thing to my wife. she was at the bus stop waving at him and he did not stop. The other passengers complain about this driver consistently. when its cold outside he has the air conditioner on and when asked to turn it down he ignores the complaint. he doesn't pull up to the curb comsistently for two elderly gentlemen at two different stops. He tells them they have to wait on the curb for him to pull up on the curb to pick them up but after he passed me and my wife up I'm sure they are taking extra precaution about getting picked up. He is very unprofessional and as where a driver should not even be thought of during a commute, this driver is unfriendly and rude.

Bus 166 frequently did not stop at stop Edgewater Avenue #13219 in Ridgefield. I waited for 40 min.on this stop.
The bus drivers are driving so quickly to catch the green light that don’t see anything else except green light.

NJ Transit bus 7270 running 67 line to newark, driver 34082

Monday, October 23, 6:47am, bus number 7270, #67 line, driver number 34082. This bus 67 was behind another bus (139) that was loading passengers in front of the bus stop at Costco Texas road stop along Route 9 (Marlboro, NJ)and about 8ft behind the 139 bus that was sitting on the curb. There were 2 of us that are regular passengers of the bus and I was behind this other person. We were waiting for him get on the curb or at least maybe open his door to know he would take us in if we walked up towards him(usually how it was done by other drivers standing behind the bus on the actual bus stop). He didn’t wait long enough and probably just stood there for a minute or less and started moving out to go back on Route 9 and I signaled the guy in front of me to move as he is moving away from the line and ran after him. He ran towards Route 9 to stop him ( at this point he was side by side with the bus still loading passengers by the bus stop). I got on the bus and told him “why couldn’t you wait to get to the curb?”and he got annoyed with my comment and said “well usually someone waves to me!”. I replied and said “you could have just waited for your turn to get on the curb!” as there were other people in that bus stop mixed in with us waiting for the very limited morning bus 67. He didn’t want to own up to it and shifted the blame on me that I’m being nasty when I’m basically just calling out his bad decision to move. He didn’t even sit long behind that bus on the curb. He was probably there for a minute or less then he started moving out impatiently.

I have been taking this bus line for 7 years and I have seen good drivers but some of the drivers lack the courtesy, training, discipline and not prompt. This driver #34082 is one of them he didn’t do his duty properly and has no courtesy towards his passengers and would not even acknowledge he made a bad call. I was simply calling out his action but instead of acknowledging he shifted the blame on me. We had to take action to stop him to the point that we had to run after him on Route 9! I hope this complaint can alarm management and monitor this driver’s performance.

I would appreciate acknowledgment of this email.

Sincerely
Jasmine Gendrano

NJ Transit bus from nyc to north bergen park and ride, 10/19/17, 7:14 pm

Upon boarding the bus, I asked the driver if it was the bus to North Bergen. He immediately shouted at the top of his lungs, "KEEP GOING... DON'T ASK ME QUESTIONS LIKE THAT!" I was completely humiliated. Passengers shouldn't be subject to treatment like that. The bus number was 9034, and it departed Port Authority around 7:14. This driver should be educated on customer service and disciplined.

NJ Transit bus

I take the 192x to and from work with a monthly pass. There are not enough buses. The lines get close to and on occasion exceed 1000 people. The buses you have are not maintained. The air filters seem like they are never cleaned because you can see the return filter and they are always very dirty 24/7. The windows are always dirty. The overhead equipment is, by my estimate 30-50 broken all at the time. The bulkhead rattle, sqeak and on many buses, falling apart. I've been to most of the larger cities in the world and the NY bus and train systems, for lack of a better word., suck. You decision makers should be ashamed. I am pretty certain this complaint, like many others, will be ignored. The is because you don't have any pride. If there were something more effective I could do I would do it.

NJ Transit unprofessional train driver

Train 4:42 from 30th street station on 10-15-2017.  The train with car# 6048 stops short. There's a vehicle almost on track before Hammonton station, very close to station.  Conductor (train driver) w/o uniform stops, opens door yells, "get off my track mother f*****!, the mf, I'm going to wring his mf neck!" Then he leaves the train to confront the driver of the vehicle.

Name: Alstom? Approx 5:54 train stops and starts again appx 6:49.

Questions:

Why wasn't train driver wearing a uniform?  When train driver goes to confront and with intent to assault the driver of the vehicle almost on the tracks, how would the driver of the vehicle know the train driver is the train driver without a uniform or ID?

Why was the train driver screaming profanity?

Why did the train driver leave the train unattended?

Why didn't the train driver calmly explain that we were waiting for transit police to clear the train to proceed?

Why didn't the train driver announce future stops once we started again?  Had I not been familiar with the route I may have missed my stop.  No announcement and no one took my seat stub.

A train driver screaming "we are going to hit, " then screaming profanity and running out of the train could create panic.  Fortunately it didn't.

Yes, it was scary, but we did not collide.  It was not known why the vehicle broke through the railroad crossing gate at the time the train driver ran out of the train.  The vehicle driver could have had a heart attack.

In summary, I found the train driver's conduct unprofessional, vulgar and I would question his ability to handle the responsibility of his position.

NJ Transit unprofessional conductor

The bathroom on train (northeast corridor
7856) has a broken bathroom door. people were using the bathroom with the door wide open and there was pee all over the floor. I proceeded to use the other bathroom on the train and the conductor stopped me and told me I couldn’t go to the back of the train. I told him the other bathroom door didn’t shut and he said “sucks - you’ll have to use the bAthroom with door open”. I then asked him if he could fix the bathroom door so I could use the bathroom and he said no. I couldn’t believe how rude he was and asked for his name. He said he doesn’t give his name out. I ask him why and he said because of all of the unstable people on this train. As I proceeded to walk away a group of girls pulled me aside to tell me how mean he just was to them all as well. This is a customer service role and you can not treat passengers this way. He made people feel unsafe and scared for the remainder of the trip. He is a taller man with grey hair working the 6:06 train from Hamilton to New York Penn Station on Sunday October 15th. NJtransit should be ashamed to have an employee like him working for them.

NJ Transit drivers bad attitudes

I have used Nj Transit off and on my whole life, and have NEVER dealt with such NASTY drivers! If they do not like their job, then they need to get a new one, if they do not like dealing with the public, get a different job! Myself, and I'm sure thousands of other riders would agree. If your company posted a survey and allowed passengers of Nj Transit to voice their opinions you to then would see! At the very least the drivers should take a course in how to properly conduct themselves! My family and I used to be very friendly with oye drivers in the past, calling them and being called by first names, for some reason its just not like that anymore, and makes me disheartened that today's drivers are allowed to treat riders so terribly

NJ Transit conductor

I got on the tran today Friday the 13th to NY from Red Bank NJ at 659am I sat in the cart number 7014. I take the train every day to work and pay $450 a month to do so. I have a little scooter with me that I ride to work after I get off the train. I put it underneath the seat every single day and today the conductor told me I need to say in the handicap seats and put it underneath the seat in the Handicap. For starters I'm not handicap and these areas are designated for handicap riders. After telling the conductor and I ride the train every day and put my scooter underneath after telling the conductor and I ride this tran every day and put my scooter underneath the seat every day she started to argue with me. I tried to explain to the conductor but I am not handicap and I don't feel the need to sit in a handicap area. She told me I must move and as I was moving started being very nasty and told me she hopes I never ride the train again. This is completely unacceptable behavior. Maybe I'll start giving my money to the ferry.

NJ Transit driver's attitude

Hi, I am Juan Rodriguez. My bus stop is on 77th street and Boulevard East North Bergen and my complaint is about one of the drivers that has a very bad attitude. When you get on the bus and say 'Good Morning, ' he never answers. When everybody at every bus stop makes a signal for him to stop and board the bus, he always stops in the middle of the street which is very dangerous. As I understand, he is supposed to make the stop next to the sidewalk to prevent any incident's and to leave space on the road for other vehicles to pass. Also, he never stops right where the people are waiting for the bus. He always stops like 15 feet before he arrives where the people are waiting or 15 feet ahead of the stop, which applies for every single stop. That makes us waste too much time in the morning and we sometimes are late to our jobs. But it is not exactly for this reason that I am complaining. specificity this morning, it was raining and when he arrived to our stop, we closed our umbrella to get in the bus and he purposely spent 3 minutes to open the door. By the that time, we were all getting wet. He said that he was giving some change back to someone. So, when we were finally going to enter the bus, he said to get back out because someone was going to get off the bus. When I entered the bus, I showed him my pass and at the same time, I took a picture of his little blue plate that is at the front of the bus which is supposed to be the driver's identification. Then he told me because of that, I had to show him my pass again.
In my opinion, people like him make New Jersey Transit look really bad and should not be working for the company. Sooner or later, he will create a huge problem to the company. The number of that bus is 166 and it was 5:18 in the mornin and the driver's ID humber was 443210. I hope you pay attention to this report before any accident occurs.
Sincerely, Juan Rodriguez

NJ Transit 113s bus

On October 10th 2017 I took the 113s from nypabt at 615 pm. Shortly after leaving the Lincoln tunnel the driver realized the head lights were not working. He pulled over and called for assistance and it was some time before he received a response and a call went out to other drivers for assistance. In the mean time several nj transit busses passed us by. This is not the first time I've been on a bus with issues. I think it's time for the bus fleet to be upgraded. In the mean time current busses should receive more maintenance. Something needs to be done to reduce the number of break downs. Dispatchers need to respond much quicker. We sat on the bus on the shoulder of the highway for too long because the dispatcher did not respond sooner.

NJ Transit nj transit bus #161 to paterson

When I was getting on the bus tonight, I was accosted by the yelling and cursing of an older african lady towards an older white lady who were both sitting in the first seat! I could not believe! The nasty comment's and vile words coming out of this african lady's mouth, and still am! Disturbed, at the fact that the bus driver, was allowing this confrontation to take place! Now, i'm not saying that the bus driver is racist, however she was african american and appeared to be enjoying listening to this african lady cursing out and berating this older white lady! Not only that! But how are you going to subject all the other passengers to this disgusting, disrespectful event taking place on the bus! I am truly disturbed by this! So disturbed, that i'm taking the time to write this complaint! I pray that nj transit takes this complaint, and all others seriously, because not to do so would be completely irresponsible and unfair to all us passengers that ride these busses daily

As someone who has been thru similar experiences and recently the worst situation with the worst NJ Transit bus driver I've ever come across, I strongly suggest that you should definitely mail a formal written complaint with ALL the details and information to NJ Transit at the address I will give below. Notice that on the NJ Transit website, when you click on "Contact Us", they only list a million phone #'s but no company address at all. This is because they want people to call so they can shove the issues to the side and take no action. Written complaints reaching the highest levels of the companies demand a course of disciplinary action and the company to write back with that they will be doing to fix the issue you are complaining about. The address I found mainly accepts complaints regarding NJ Transit's "Title VI Commitment and Compliance Objectives" (mostly issues of discrimination and drivers not respecting riders rights), but it will ensure your written complaints reach the HIGHEST level within the company and something will DEFINATELY get done about the bus driver, especially if it's not her first complaint.
They hold EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE of NJ Transit accountable. This information I found is from the NJ Transit website, and here is the link for further information and reading (I simply Googled "file a complaint against a NJ Transit bus driver" to find the site, although it's somehow branched off of the NJ Transit website):
www.njtransit.com/tm/tm_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=TitleVITo

According to the website, NJ Transits "Title VI Commitment and Compliance" objectives are to:
*Ensure that the level & quality of transportation service is provided without regard to race, color or national origin;
*Identify & address, as appropriate, disproportionately high & adverse human health & environmental effects, including social & economic effects of programs & activities on minority populations and low-income populations;
*Promote the full and fair participation of all affected populations in transportation decision making;
*Prevent the denial, reduction or delay in benefits related to programs & activities that benefit minority populations or low-income populations; AND
*Ensure meaningful access to programs and activities by persons with limited English proficiency (LEP).

If you were discriminated against, you MUST file your complaint within 180 days of the date of the incident with the bus driver. I had a very similar situation with a black female driver and I am a white, and I believe it was absolutely discrimination that caused this bus driver to curse, shout, threaten me, and more. She even purposely forced the bus door shut (they shut it manually with their hand and arm, and she used all her strength on purpose) and had me stuck in the doorway awkwardly as the bus was moving and would not stop the bus to let me free, causing me to be injured and I am pregnant. And those are just some of the details of what I went thru with my NJ Transit bus driver. Perhaps you were denied the pick up and ride due to a protected status causing you to have been discriminated against, or perhaps the bus driver violated your rights to ride public transportation? It sure sounds like it when a bus driver looks right at you, nods at you acknowledging you, and continues driving, and you mention that she is a black female so I am assuming you are not of the same race. Do you believe that she would have stopped if you were her same race or a different sex or if you were dressed differently, indicating that you were a member of a different socioeconomic group?

I believe everyone should file complaints against these types of drivers who think they have the power and authority to bully and do whatever they want to riders all around the state. There are plenty of incompetent drivers working for NJ Transit, but they will just stay employed if no one does anything about it. I spoke to a very kind young lady who has been driving for NJ Transit about 1 year now and she said that it's absolutely shocking and disgusting the way NJ Transit allows bus drivers to stay with the company despite having complaints filed against them or even being guilty of causing traffic accidents, and she explained to me that although the sticker on the back of the bus says "Yield to Bus", every single bus driver MUST turn on their left blinker and wait until they have an opportunity before attempting to merge back into traffic after making a pickup on the right side of a road or highway. She also told me that NJ Transit tolerates so much and their rule is that drivers must have 3 complaints filed against them to get terminated, or have 1 major event occur to result in immediate termination, but because folks don't make complaints, the drivers actually brag about how they get away with murder. The young lady told me that drivers who get into accidents and hit cars when its THEIR FAULT almost always still keep their jobs mostly because the riders don't make complaints and neither do the owners of the cars!?!

Good luck with your situation, and send your complaint written and by mail so that you have proof of your correspondence with NJ Transit. Keep copies of what you send them. I highly suggest you call and make complaints too to the appropriate complaint # listed on their website, but don't just call - send in your written complaint(s) as well and when you do call, document who you speak to, when, date, time, what they said, ask questions like what's going to be done, what will be the outcome, when will a supervisor or higher follow up with you, is this is the bus driver's first complaint, how many times can this bus driver continue to behave inappropriately and against company policy before they take action, what will that action be, etc. Ask any question you want to because the worst that can happen is they say "I can't answer that question!" If you have a voice recorder, record the call if you can. This way, you can go back and re-listen to what was said if you need to, or type up a transcript of the conversation if necessary. Doing all of this ensures that NJ Transit can't just try and apologize and brush you aside. Good luck!

Hello Matt and Journalists. This morning on April 16, 2018, the 190 Rutherford to New York bus came to a full stop on the red light on Main Avenue and Gregory Avenue at 6:01am and when I signaled the African-American woman bus driver she refused to pick me up! She nodded no to me and when the light turned green she left! Leaving me all wet and cold in the heavily rain and to mention my feet were wet. I got on the next bus at 6:27am! I was late to my place of employment due to her negligence. We have to let NJ Transit know they hire incompetent people!
