I live in MA and had just purchased a new vehicle, i figured i would just use my transponder for a run down to NYC. I went through a couple tolls and all seemed just fine, green lights, good to go!

Apparently NJ turnpike isn't able to read my transponder and sends me a ticket for a 15.60 dollar toll and a 50 dollar administration fee. The ticket says if i register my new plates with my transponder within 4 days they will wave the administration fee. So I do this within the hour and go to the NJ website to dispute the charge, they say it will take 10 days for a response.

Ok. They reject the dispute and say i owe the full 65.60 charge.

That is criminal. Screw you NJ - you get nothing!

I have a PA EZ-PASS and frequently travel the highways to get to and from work, and never have an issue if my account falls short sometimes to below one dollar in PA by accident. I get a advisory notice, please check your account, and then satisfy the amount within a day. New Jersey, not the case. If I am just .50 cents short, (not saying I do, just an example), immediately they go hard core and hit me with $50.00 plus the .50 cents. THIS IS A SCAM...AND IT NEEDS TO STOP. NEW JERSEY EZPASS IS A JOKE AND ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS. I know there are people who deliberately take advantage of the system, and habitual offenders, and the such. But what they are doing is just as bad as those robbing a bank, only difference is they're hiding behind their rule books and policies that grant them power and entitlements over others, which is criminal. These are hard times we are all going through, and it's bad enough people are losing their jobs, businesses, homes, trying to make ends meet, without the added pressure of having to worry about literally "highway robbery". Something needs to change.
