Nextdoor nextdoor.com

This is written from the perspective of a Lead at ND - a former Lead. I was asked to be a Lead for ND last December 12th and I accepted. I'd been on the job for two and a half-months when I was unduluy attacked and cyber-bulied for having mentioned in a comment on a post I didn't create that Agenda 21 was responsible for bike installations suddenly appearing in San Francisco in many different neighborhoods, unasked for and unannounced. Commenters outside my neighborhood attacked me for "conspiracy theory, " for being a "racist, " for being stupid and ruining NextDoor.com for my single comment. Eight people from different neighborhoods joined in on repeated attacks.

My role as Lead allowed me to delete those comments that went against community guidelines but NextDoor would not allow me to report the individuals responsible for going against the community guidellines because these members were outside my neighborhood, thus giiving ND members outside my neighborhood the license to "bomb" me over and over again, trying to incite conflict, create public shaming and harassment -- with no protecttion offered by ND on this.

In fact, in order to obtain assistance from a specialist at ND, you have to email a specialist who takes up to 48 hours to respond. Based on my experience, the advice these specialists offer amounts to nil. One specialist named Chester actually wrote that all you can do as a Lead is to remind people of the guidelines, but "they usually resent you for reminding them." That's it? No help? Right -- no help!

Nextdoor lead

I was once again banned from Nextdoor Indianwood after being reinstated for guideline infractions. Our lead Brian Duffner sent another message to Nextdoor from a post prior to me being banned. I have contacted your site about this but have not got a straight answer. My post that was reported said something to the effect "well got another 2 posts removed" Look at the date on the post. A lot of people in our community are leaving because of him. He has harassed my wife and others. CAN a supervisor or manager look into this please

Nextdoor take down a community listing

You policy forbids the removal of community postings. However, I need to take my listing down. The Contractor's Board of the State of Oregon has decided this is a form of advertising and must be removed by all handyman services, including my husband's business, Tsuzuki Handyman Services.

Please respond immediately. I only have 25 days left to respond to this complaint!

Thank you,
Debra Seifert

IF you have a problem with what is going on you need to contact Nextdoor directly - not voice your issues on a complaint site. It is easy to do and they respond quickly. They have Community Guidelines that are the rules and regulations of how Nextdoor operates. IF you do not read them and follow them then you do not know exactly how you should proceed in listing your husband's business correctly.

Nextdoor is a privately owned business - not a free-for-all like on Facebook and other sites. As a business, they have the right to have specific rules and regulations regarding the setup and use of Nextdoor. If any post infringes on or violates one of their Community Guidelines that have the right to remove it.

Do not blame Nextdoor if you did not read everything you needed to know before you posted your husband's business!

You are wrong about taking down a community listing, too That cannot occur unless there has been a violation regarding the Community Guidelines or someone has filed a complaint. Some business deals will cost money to place on Nextdoor. There is so much more - you must read everything they offer on the Nextdoor website.

NEXTDOOR QUOTE:
Promoting Your Business

"Local business owners, casual service providers, and home service providers can all participate on Nextdoor. To list your business, first, create or claim your business page that displays basic information about your business or services. Adding your business information on Nextdoor allows neighbors to easily find you when they’re searching for goods, services, or recommendations. From your business page, you can see recommendations written about your business or services by neighbors and you'll be able to postpaid ads."

"The Community Guidelines describe behaviors that are and are not allowed on Nextdoor. We may remove posts, replies, deals, or other content that violates these guidelines or that we deem to be fraudulent or misleading. Violations of these guidelines may also result in loss of access to Nextdoor."

Nextdoor kept getting complaint

How is this promoting my business when I explain the scam that are going on? All I was doing was letting people know that there have been people who bought non ACA insurance and though they have coverages. I do not represent CareSource so I am confuse how this is promoting my business. This is the second time that I had a complaint against me which I feel like someone is trying to block me from this site. I feel like someone is trying to censor my free speech.

Please have this person either stop filing false complaint against me or remove this person from Nextdoor.

Please advise.

Thanks

Craig

Nextdoor deleted post by lead was inappropriate

After the lead in my area posted a very long post explaining where to look for political information and how not to vote a straight ticket, I offered another website to look at political scorecards. I DID not violate the guidelines in anyway. However it was obvious that our lead was in disagreement with me and only wanted her information should be displayed.
I will also contact BBB about this if no action is taken to help the lead understand that just because she doesn't agree politically with others, she can not use her power to shut down every else's voice.
I will anticipate your quick response.

I have included her post and the last one that I reposted. The first was deleted, but it was similar to the one below. If you can restore it I would be glad for you to show me why it was deleted?

Leads cannot ever remove posts!
Only nextdoor support can delete and remove posts!

Read the community guidelines before you go sounding off you righteous indignation!

It is not that difficult to do - you have to read them if you want to understand how nextdoor works!

Nextdoor people asking for money.

Our Nextdoor in Englewood Colorado allows for people begging and asking for money and our leads just kick the people out who complain about it. I'm tired of opening Nextdoor and seeing people talking about hard times and wants the people in the community to pay their debts. Lots of people in our area have problems. Why are the people who state to stop get kicked out of Nextdoor. This gives the whole application a bad name. I enjoy getting one and reviewing sales, crime watch, etc. I'm not interested in the post asking for a hand out. Desiree Baker then attacks people verbally for standing against it. She's not banned. So I'm coimg to the conclusion that as long as your in with the leads you can pretty much do what you want. If your not, your out. This whole situation gives Nextdoor a bad reputation.

QUOTE from NEXTDOOR:

Posting examples: Fundraising
Here are some examples of what is and is not allowed by our Community Guidelines.

ALLOWED
"Please donate to the victims of the Mission and 29th St. fire. As someone who was recently displaced by a fire, my heart goes out to the victims of yesterday's fire. Please consider donating through this 'go-fund-me' campaign. Here is a list of requested donations of clothing and toiletries, etc."

NEXTDOOR: This is allowed as a fundraiser to help local community members recover from a disaster.

NOT ALLOWED
"I'm reposting this for a friend of mine. She was planning to send her son to a summer camp that he's been attending every year, but with recent financial difficulties after moving out of town to Indiana, she's unable to get the money together. Please help her send her son to camp where he can reconnect with his old friends. https://www.gofundme.com/"

NEXTDOOR: This is not allowed because it does not pertain to a member of the local neighborhood. Boosting the signal for a non-local friend in need is a lovely thing to do, but it's not appropriate on Nextdoor.

ALLOWED
"I'm participating in a march to support leukemia research next Tuesday. It begins at 9 am at City Hall. Let me know if you can join me."
This is allowed if the member posts it as an event, and does not specifically ask for money.

NOT ALLOWED
"Hey, folks! I'm doing a 'walk-a-thon' to raise money to fight brain cancer to honor my mom. Please click here to sponsor me. Thanks for your support"

NEXTDOOR: This is not allowed because it is fundraising for a non-local cause. If the 'walk-a-thon' was a local event, it would be fine to post that event in the Events section.

Nextdoor service/leads/?

I think you can gather what happened in my case after reading the email I sent them (tried to find all the emails I could, they keep contact information very guarded). I finally after sending 4 emails, received a generic email response back (from a "Krystal") with no real info of how to prove to them my identity (which was already done 1yr ago), just that they question my true name and blocked my account...
This all occured October 14th, 2018 and have only heard form them 1x since with a useless response...
My email:
"This is why more people do not use this site, but a prime example of how "others" are joining in San Diego, under proven false information /with clearly false names (takes 1 min to Google a fake name to verify the joke) and its an insult when the good people are the ones to be taken advantage of through retaliation and falsely reporting back when we flag these breaches of your security measures. This is why your system and processes does NOT protect the true neighbors, and how the fake people/thieves, and people that need to be screened slip by. This is EXACTLY why your process of demanding all of our personal information to join is so unnecessary, antiquated, and does NOT work. When others join under false pretenses like this situation, it is due to YOUR poor internal systems, and is unfair to us REAL members.
This should not be some power trip, or for whoever decided to close my account to make this personal, this is your business model, and it does have an impact on your future. We are a tight group of great neighborhoods (I grew up in San Diego and recently moved back) where we know one another and we talk…I use to find some value amongst the poor posts by many, but now with this power move by, "Krystal" at Nextdoor…negative feedback and information travels quickly!
I had concerns from the beginning and was reluctant to even join because of the clear holes in the lack of security with our personal information to others on the site, but I care about our neighborhood and now I am the one who has their account suddenly "disabled" what a slap in my face.
If one had looked quickly at the past 1yr of my posts, I think you would have thought 2x about doing so as I have been one of the more helpful, honest, and respectful contributors...My ONE mistake was to report some FAKE users (again, when you Google their names you will see that they come up as fictional character names and are a total joke, they have no history on your site, and you let them on due to your lack of security and poor vetting process) I would caution you on being so quick to take a proven false identities word on anything before taking actions like this, as it is keeping us good neighbors away and skeptical of this site. The FAKES will be found out another way, but us good neighbors who want to help and who got some value from the helpful information shared, will dwindle in numbers (most I know already don't participate on the site any longer), along with kicking quality neighbors off at random as you did my account…You will be left with a weak neighbor participation rate, low %'s, not being able to sell advertising as you can't charge much when no users in an area, etc…and Nextdoor will chalk this major City up as yet another failed attempt…like many others…!?!?
I have received a lot of thank you emails for the resource info I have shared, and that I have helped others with.
I find it a little shocking that at the end of the day, Nextdoor really does not care about quality of people there are on the site, the truthfulness of the contributions, and Nextdoor must have a really poor working environment to warrant such a rampant "Dictatorship" or "Elitist" role, as you have with many others here in San Diego, and abroad.
This is one of the worst examples of poorly run companies I have seen in a long time...Sad..."

Nextdoor harassment/

There was a post made about 2 dogs being a nuisance. Photos were provided by another neighbors security cam. The post said "they're a nuisance and peeing on people's mums"... I replid "could you contain them and call a/c - a little compassion goes a long way. Then one of the dogs was hit/and killed that day. I called jamie nelson (head of environmental control for our county) he said he never got a call until the dog was hit. I made a million posts on fb and tracked down the dogs owner. I was working on getting the dog back to owner so they could bury it. Well, in the meantime, a mean girl amanda bell came on there and said"I feel sorry for your children and husband since all you care about is dogs"... I replied"I had stage iv cancer, so I cannot have kids, but thank you amanda"... This has greatly effected me. You deleted the wrong person. I have instrumental in returning 4 or 5 dogs to their owners as opposed to them going to a high kill shelter. When amanda posted that, my phone blew up, tons of my friends who saw it - wanted to be sure I was ok. They knew how deeply that would effect me. I have gotten 3 emails from different people in regards to this. Why was I the one deleted and nobody at nextdoor has responded.

Nextdoor being blocked on nextdoor

We posted something about our dog who was attacked and eaten by a coyote on our street in Tiburon to warn our neighbors so this wouldn't happen to their dogs. We received over30 thank you notes for letting them know. Then the area leader Colin Crawford did'nt think that it was appropriate contacted you and not only did you delete our post but you completely BLOCKED us from using Nextdoor! What are you going to do to UNBLOCK us? We don't think that we should be penalized for trying to warn our neighbors of a dangerous situation such as a coyote attack! Please call us immediately to let us know what you are going to do! [protected]!

Nextdoor poor communication skills and lying

A lady from Scott's Road in FF Calif, Said she had her home broken into and they were away and they even broke into her car. I had said that I have Ring.com and a lot of my neighbors have it because they saw the ad on here. I talked about how happy I was with the Floodlight cam on my house. I said that everyone should get one. I said because Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming that it would be a good idea to get Ring.com. everyone is posting on here on how good the service is on Nextdoor website. I was warned and blocked on Sept 3, 2018 but I wasn't even told on this date. I had to write a letter on Friday October 5, 2022. I got an email on Monday October 8, 2018 at 8:40 pm.
Telling people about a service that I have on the outside of my home is not a crime. I would think people would appreciate me for telling that I can record my cars and trucks in my driveway. I really think that Facebook, Yelp, Twitter, You tube, and KCRA tv and local media need to know that freedom of speech is not allowed. I am going to San Francisco to file court papers.

I also forgot to respond with " I was deleted and removed because someone kept reporting me because they had it out for me because I am Jewish. Such a sad world we live in today, a religious society, black, yellow, white, you name it. So much hate. I think that the Nextdoor app for Greenfield Estates Owners Association should be shut down completely.

Nextdoor bullies attacked me for nothing & nextdoor bans me

i posted an ad looking for mexican fruit vendors on street corners that sell oranges. i was flooded with mean vile viscious messages called me a racist by i assume liberal democrats. all this for using the word Mexican apparently. since i am part Hispanic & live with blacks & Filipinos in same house. it would seem to me its pretty hard to be a racist. but of course nextdoor banned me & i cannot post there. i tried previously to try to talk to these nextdoor liberals over their dislike of an ad i had. but then they attacked me for responding & flagged me off. i tried to sell a potted plant and a lady flagged me as a dealer and my post was removed. i tried to sell a flashlight i had & i was called a dealer and post removed.

Nextdoor discriminating sight

I have been bullied and kicked off the Nextdoor app due to being a board member. It got so bad that I was receiving hate emails from neighbors. The people @ Nextdoor kicked me off. My husband had nothing to do with this and he too has been blocked. He has been discriminated against because hes black and we live in the South. They just don't want us in their neighborhood. Instead of getting rid of the bullies who I tried to prove what they where doing. They removed me, because these people were reporting me over stupid issues. I have a lawyer involved to sue the HOA and using your sight too. Have a great day.

Nextdoor banned

Nextdoor's guidelines are not clear and are very confusing.

I made a mistake when posting trying to sell something on Nextdoor and immediately corrected it by taking down the offending post.

Not soon enough apparently. A complaint was made against me through Nextdoor about advertising my business and now I've been banned from Nextdoor.

I'm never rejoining Nextdoor again. Their actions seem very arbitrary and very excessive (who wants to belong to something that's so heavy handed). If I had had to use it during the recent fires to communicate with neighbors, I would have been fearfully and frantically out of luck.

I'm not saying it's so, but Nextdoor could be used as a revenge by other neighbors who would want you banned for just about anything.

Of course there is no phone number to call because Nextdoor does all of its customer service through email. If you want to appeal, you have do it through email, which I did, but I got a very sterile and clinical response back that pretty much told me what I already knew with no information on how to lift the ban.

Some social media companies are good. Nextdoor isn't one of them.

The lead started to bully me in public, then it went to private messages! I deactivated my acct for 3 wks and he shows up at my door! My husband is in a wheelchair and this guy came to start a fight! I had to call the police and then have a trespass order put on him! He was able to get my complete info because he is a lead! Nextdoor ridiculous deletion of important posts

I live in San Tan Valley, AZ. Our water company, Johnson Utilities, is corrupt, and there are lawsuits against them. Some of us have disgusting, smelly contaminated water, low water pressure, and are being gouge (all at the same time) with ridiculously high water bills for no reason.

People are trying to share info to keep residents informed about the court cases and what the Corporation Commission is doing to help us, yet comments keep getting deleted. Our leads "swear" they're not doing it, so who is doing it? I notice I'm not the only one complaining about this.
