Not to be confused with other NY dress companies - New York Dress, 209 West 38th Street, NY, NY [protected] - http://www.newyorkdress.com/ I think they have such a generic name so that they can be confused with legitimate New York dress companies and fly under the radar.
I purchased two dresses from this company. One of the dresses DID NOT look like the picture of the dress that was on the website. It was also very cheesy and cheaply made. I phoned them and told them that I wanted to return the dress for the reasons stated. They said that I could not return it. I told them that I would dispute the charge with my credit card company. They then gave me an "RA" number to return the dress. It has been two months and the credit still has not been placed on my credit card.
The second dress that I purchased is ill fitting due to the way the dress was improperly sewn. It too does not look like I expected it to from the picture on the website. I phoned them about this dress and they said, "too bad, " no returns. They stated that they know for certain none of their dresses are defective and they will not take this dress back. They stated that they refuse the delivery of anything that does not have an "RA" number written on the package.
There are so many dress companies out there that will take a return if a dress doesn't work out as long as the tags are still on it. If you are buying an expensive dress on-line do you really want to take the chance that if may be defective, not fit, or you simply don't like it and you CANNOT return it?
Unfortunately they stated on the phone prior to placing the order that the dresses could be returned under their Christmas return policy but it was a lie to get the sale. I NEVER buy anything from a place that has a no return policy. That speaks volumes to me. If you sell good products why don't you stand behind them.? Why is it that once you get your customer's money your policy is that you will never return it no matter what?
In this bad economy do you really want to risk doing business with this company. They now have one of my dresses AND the money I paid for it.
I have purchased dresses of better quality and better prices from Saks on-line, Neiman Marcus on-line and Nordstrom on-line. All of which I had the option to return for a full refund or exchange should I need to.
BUYER BEWARE!
I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and have found other New York Dress company victims.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am a previous employee and worked there for only about 2 weeks. (Currently employed). Their training was very misleading at times and they use 3rd party shipping instead of in house shipping. Their advertising incentives are very inaccurate and misleading. ALL OF THE DRESSES ARE POLY-BLEND. Which is industry insider talk for "MOSTLY POLYESTER." Accordingly, they state they are able to sell the dresses at a much cheaper price than real designer dresses. If that's the case, then say so in your advertising!
I became very uncomfortable with their training misconceptions and business practices so I decided to rescind my desire to continue my employment with NewYorkDress.com. For 2 weeks worth of wages I received 120.00 dollars. When I disputed, their H/R accounting representative decided that I was lying because I was wrong about the exact date of a snow storm that corroborated my physical presence at work. No timesheets, no spreadsheets with clock in/clock in records per NY state law, Nothing. It was their word against mine. Consequently, I have been duped by a scamming company that both scams consumers and scams employees of their wages.
Fortunately, I am employed, however, I will be filing complaints with the labor department concerning this. In my 2 weeks there, the work environment seemed depressing, the people unprofessional and the call center somewhat make shift (they even shoot the models on their website less than 20 feet away from the telemarketers. And they PHOTOSHOP almost everything. So the dresses may very well be designer but the actual product and/or material isn't. It's all 'Poly-blend' or Poly-chiffon, poly-satin, poly-you name it.
I really feel bad for the current employees there. One guy in the break room seemed desperate to leave and kept talking about moving to California. The trainer singled me out and she was bland, very monotonous, and glaring. It was just such a horrible experience and I wanted to keep the job because I was right out of college. I though myself fortunate to land something so quick, but in the end, it wasn't worth it. I'm glad I left and not surprised that there are consumers still complaining about this company.
I got it before it got worse! Beware of this company! Both consumers and prospective employees. They don't want ethical employees, they want sweatshop workers!
Also, I am still owed over 400.00 dollars that I will probably never get paid. Don't let it happen to you. Tell as many people as you can. This company is straight up garbage!
I ordered a Tiffany Princess dress form my daughter from NewYorkDress.com and was VERY satisfied from start to finish. Customer service was great and the dress was exactly what I ordered and arrived in the day they said it would.

This is the mailing address so I am uncertain of why anyone has had trouble with cheap knock-offs unless this site is getting confused with another similar site.
Hello. I am so confused now, i want to order a dress for my cousins wedding, and just love the dressws that they have on the site. But, if this is not a real site does anyone know where you can buy the real ones? Or does anyone know about other real dress sites?

I'm looking for a dress for prom and I've been looking all over at the reviews which are not good. I don't trust this site. On site jabber its all either 5 star reviews or 1 star reviews so I think they are giving themselves fake positive reviews! If you google street-view their address it's an Indian restaurant not a dress store! If you want to be safe google street-view the stores address and see if they are a real store. The dress I want is so expensive and I want to talk to a real person and I'll just die if something gets screwed up. Thank you very much everyone. your experiences helped me avoid getting caught into this scam. I contacted newyorkdress.com and wanted to check about their return policy and they said they can only do exchanges. That alone seemed suspicious. Plus I wont buy a dress if I know i cannot return it, seeing a dress in person is different (color, fabric, fitting the dress). All of those characteristics has to be satisfactory in order to keep the dress, not able to return it and getting stuck with buying from one website sounds crazy. Thank you all of your help, it saved me time and money.
My sister bought a dress from them and everything was fine. She bought a Jovani dress but I know all their dresses are authentic. All the designers now manufacture in China even Jovani came with a label says "Made in China". About La Femme they are listed on La Femme's website as authorized retailer, go to http://www.lafemmefashion.com/find_a_store/ enter their zip code 10018, scroll down and they are listed on the "Gold" section of the list.
i wish i read this post before i bought my dress from them! the dress was an immitation of the picture i saw on the website of them. on the website they advertise the dress as la femme and they didnt state what material is used so i looked on the lafemme site and it says chiffon for that style dress. then when i recieved my dress from newyorkdress.com it was written that it was made from polyester NOT chiffon and the sequence looked completely different it was large chunks of greenish plastic instead of small silver sequence as advertised in the picture. Also the dress was made in china so i'm pretty sure its an imitation/fake copy of the authentic version and had nothing to do with the actual la femme company except for using their name on the tag illegaly! also the sizing was all wrong, the bottom half of the dress fit fine and the top half was a different size (too big) i've never had this problem with size 4 dresses before. the dress was clearly a fraud because on the la femme website it says that la femme dresses can only be bought in stores NOT online!
I bought a dress from them and had great experience.

Hi all, i purchased 2 dresses SCALA 14107 size 14 platinum, and Allure Evening A319 size 14 sky/brown (invoice total$616.80 number9444) on the 3 March 2010 from NYD and they are seriously gorgeous I feel so sorry for the person who had to hand bead the dresses! They must be half blind by now (hope not)! They arrived earlier than they said and to my door (Perth Australia)a day apart and packed nice and neatly. I looked better than the bride, well thats what some people said. My sister also purchased a dress, she ordered the teal/blue colour but they sent her the teal/green, which we picked up at the time but thought it was just the computer screen. Now that we have another wedding to go to have I seen that error, mind you she still look fab. I am in the process of choosing another two for an October wedding and will be getting them from NYD... hope this helps

I found this website 2 days ago, and I want to order a dress for my sister wedding, I send a question to him about the dress, but the answer was not satisfying, they didn't explain about terms of payment, and it seemed to me very suspisios how can this dresses be so cheap and beautiful and appropriate, because anything like these dresses in Croatia cost so much more, over 200$...however...I will buy in Croatia.Has anyone have positive experience ? I would really like to knowfor the future..

I also ordered a dress from newyorkdress.com and to my surprise i got a different colour of the dress i ordered. I tried to contact them via e-mail a got no response.
My order was for a specific white dress with yellow and green details and i received a yellow dress with green details. Furthermore, the size chart they provide is completely inaccurate although i was measured by a tailor before i place my order.
