Nature Hills Nursery Disappointing Experience with Nature Hills Nursery: Dried Out Trees, Poor Customer Service, and No Refund

I bought two Red Birch trees from Nature Hills Nursery for a total of $199.19. When the box arrived, it was all messed up and the trees were dried out and had broken limbs. My husband and I planted them, but they didn't look good at all. I called the company and spoke to a woman who said that a representative would email me. After a while, he did. He told me to keep watering the trees and to keep sending him pictures. I did that, but every time I sent him a picture, he said that it wasn't good enough. This went on for a week, and I was getting really frustrated. I told him that my husband and I run a company, and we would never treat our clients like this. It's now November, and the trees are still not growing. They look like twigs. The representative said that he would keep an eye on me personally, but I told him that I was an educated woman and not a child. I asked for a refund, but he didn't give me one. I left a review on another site, and all the reviews that followed mine were 5 stars. I think something fishy is going on. I contacted my credit card company and the BBB. I also found out that some sites that businesses encourage you to leave a review expect that you will leave a positive one. Be careful when leaving reviews. Our voices are being silenced everywhere. I have attached photos of the trees when I first planted them. As you can see, they have no leaves at all, and the limbs are broken.

Nature Hills Nursery Nature Hills Nursery Review: Poor Customer Service and Shipping Delays

I ordered a tree from Nature Hills Nursery back in April 2021, and it was supposed to ship in the spring of that year. However, spring has come and gone, and I still haven't received my tree. I've tried to contact them multiple times, but I haven't had any luck. It's frustrating that they don't even let you call them about existing orders. It makes me wonder if they're a scam.

The only time they seem to be willing to talk to you is when you're trying to decide what to order. They're more than happy to have their salespeople talk to you then. But when it comes to existing orders, forget about it. The contact forms on their website don't seem to work either. I've filled them out, but I've never received a response.

I finally decided to dispute the charge with my credit card company. The very next day, I received an email from Nature Hills Nursery's customer service. They claimed that they were about to ship my order when they found out I had issued a stop payment on it. I'm not sure I believe them, though. They offered to give me a full refund, but in the form of a gift card, plus $10 if I dropped the dispute. I'm not going to do that, though. I don't have any confidence that they'll actually honor the gift card when I try to use it. And if they don't, I won't have any recourse since I won't be able to dispute the charge with my credit card company.

I told them that I wanted a full refund to my credit card instead. They responded that that was against their terms and conditions. Well, it's against my terms and conditions to be charged for something that I never received. So, I'm sticking with my dispute and letting my credit card company handle it.

Nature Hills Nursery Unethical and Misrepresented Plants: My Experience with Nature Hills Nursery

I recently made a purchase from Nature Hills Nursery on May 25, 2021. I ordered two vanilla Strawberry Hydrangeas that were supposed to be 3-5 years old. My order number was ***176. 153. 08. I received an email confirmation immediately after placing my order, but unfortunately, they anticipated a two-week delivery date. I had landscapers scheduled, and I couldn't wait that long. So, within an hour of placing my order, I decided to cancel it.

Canceling my order was not an easy task. I ended up calling the store directly and spoke with Bill. He assured me that he would send an immediate email to the person responsible for preparing the plants for shipment to cancel my order. While I was on the phone, he sent the email. However, it seems like the email only alerted the nursery that I had canceled my order, and they immediately sent it out that very day. I received an email stating that my order had already shipped, and there was no way to cancel it.

The order arrived promptly, but it was obvious that it was hastily wrapped. All the dirt was out of one tree, and the plastic pots couldn't be taken out of the shipping box as they were stapled to the box! The worst part is that these "3-5 year old plants" weren't even 12 inches tall! I was disappointed to see that the plants I received were inferior and misrepresented. I went to a local nursery, and their 3-5 year old vanilla Strawberry hydrangeas were nearly 4 feet tall and the same price that I paid for these plants.

I find this company to be unethical and misrepresenting their plants. I would advise everyone I know to NEVER EVER order from Nature Hills Nursery. It was a frustrating experience, and I wouldn't want anyone else to go through the same thing.

Nature Hills Nursery $1200 Refund for all plants.

Filed a complaint with FTC. I Ordered plants from Nature Hills Farm and only received part of the order, and the other plants arrived dead. Contacted them about it and they gave me the run around for a month and 30 hoops to jump through. I jumped through all of them. But they never sent the packing slip with the roses and they require it for any sort of resolution. Its fraud. Filed a complaint with BBB. They told BBB they would send the missing plants and they never did. So I filed a second complaint for the missing plant and the dead ones. The website has a health guarantee but they don't fulfill their end of the contract. Found out there is a Facebook page specifically about Nature Hills fraud victims. Google the complaints, it's endless. All of which have the same experience I am having. This company is selling plants online guaranteeing they will arrive healthy and they aren't and they aren't sending everything you paid for, like in my case. They have over 180 complaints to BBB. This company is not selling the products they promise and they also are committing fraud by only sending partial orders and then give you the run around for weeks on end till they hope you go away.

Nature Hills Nursery [protected]

My tree is sick and lost half of its leaves. Leaces were yellow and dropping. Soil was banged out of the pot with roots hanging out. Stalk is weak and narrow with very little tree canopy left.

Desired outcome: New plant or part refund if I can save it

Nature Hills Nursery Fuyu persimmon received damaged

Received damaged persimmon, followed website instructions to complete form on line. I have called several times. Ms. Charlotte stated a horticulturist would review my info. Then I spoke with someone else she said the fulfillment team would be in touch. I have yet to hear anything from them or read any correspondence. This is ridiculous. I submitted my info April 8th and it has been an adequate amount of time for someone to reach out. They have lost a customer.

Nature Hills Nursery Comice pear tree

I bought a Comice Pear tree from Nature Hills, spring 2019, order # [protected]. I corresponded with Charlotte during the 2019 growing season, periodically sending her pictures of the struggling tree. It tried to grow in 2020, but it has died. I corresponded with Barry in customer service this year, sending him pictures. The tree died this summer. I asked Barry for a replacement. No satisfaction.
I have been gardening for over 50 years. I know how to grow things. We have a vibrant D'Anjoy Pear in our yard.
I have communicated with you in good faith for 2 growing seasons. If you have any integrity, you should replace the tree!

Nature Hills Nursery Unethical behavior

Ordered 4 different Roses, which arrived in perfect boxes. Obviously packed with disregard to protecting plants from drying out, falling out of planting material.
I reached out to Customer Service, Charlotte and was told, "according to our Service Manager, just plant them and they will spring back."
I reached out again when they failed to respond to my request to replace the now dead roses.
Now after searching a contact CEO, Mr. Jeff Dinslage cannot be reached.

There is no follow up to any emails.

Nature Hills Nursery didn't receive product

I ordered 2 butterfly bushes which didn't make it thru the winter. I called them and sent in pics as they requested. I was given one year credit. When I ordered other bushes using my credit and paying the balance to cover their ridiculously expensive shipping I waited and waited with no new bushes. Calling them they tell me it was shippe weeks ago. I asked to whom did they ship to? No answer was given... then I was put on hold for 10 minutes. Now I find myself in someone's voice mail. After we finally made contact he tells me he's some kind of company manager. Now he's asking me what I ordered like 7 weeks ago. I told him to look it up... "I forgot." Yeah good idea he says... (this is management?) I give him credit card again, wait 3 weeks, no order. This went back and forth 3 times. Finally I cancelled the cc with the bank the third time now. So I lost the credit for the butterfly bushes.

Nature Hills Nursery dead tree

Very disappointed ... bought a Chinese blue wisteria tree that cost me, with shipping, about $75. Regardless of the fact it was delivered far too early in the northeast this spring, I had a local tree service company plant it according to the nursery's instructions, but it didn't make it. I sent pictures showing them the dead stick. But more disappointing than the dead tree was the warranty I learned about after the fact ... a replacement would be half the cost and the shipping! Horrible policy ... no other online nurseries have such a poor replacement policy. They wouldn't offer me any exceptions. I'll stick with my other sources that offer much longer guarantees.

Nature Hills Nursery wisteria tree

I live in the Desert and they assured me they would grow in the desert sun. By the middle of June, one of only 2 that had any growth burned all the leaves off the second. This left me with 2 twigs sticking out of the ground.

When I called to get a refund, they told me they would only give 1/2 off towards another purchase. Julia asked if I would entertain that. I said I couldn't find anything that would grow in the desert. She insisted I talk to the sales people. So I did. Bill got on the phone, and he agreed with me that they don't have any desert type trees. He sent me back to Customer Service and Julie answered again.

I informed her of what Bill told me and she said there are no refunds. I insisted it was their error for selling a product that was not desert friendly. She started stating I put in the order, and I said congratulations, you are correct. She got mad and told me I was "a [censored]" and hung up on me.

I am pursuing the refund with Visa and they said they will go after them.

The hole thing that bothers me is I called them before I ordered and asked specifically if this would grow here, and they said yes, you are in Zone 9. Come to find out, Florida is Zone 9 and they would probably grow there, but not in Palm Springs, California.

Nature Hills Nursery dead tree and diseased plant

I ordered a Saucer Magnolia that was shipped with fungus. No big deal, Magnolias are prone to disease.

I also ordered a Pink Flowering Dogwood. They sent it dormant. Two months later, it never came out of dormancy, it was dead and brittle. They WILL NOT REFUND, they will only ship you another at half cost.

Don't bother to call them. I was hung up on when I got pissed off.

Nature Hills Nursery shrubs and trees died

I ordered plants and trees and paid extra for insurance just in case so my investment would be protected. Contacted them when the plants and trees didn't make it thru the winter they did send me replacements (after I chucked out the money for return shipping) I asked them about purchasing insurance on the replacements and they told me it wasn't needed. Well the replacements died almost immediately and they won't replace, refund or even store credit! They don't stand behind their plants so that is sure sign they are just taking money and insurance money and running with it.

stay away from them. I ordered apple tree and all I got was dead stick. When I called they wanted to charge me half of the cost + shipping for another tree. they have bogus reviews on their website that are nothing like real reviews on Yelp and elsewhere. They should change their name to ripoff hill.com!

Nature Hills Nursery crape myrtle ordered was pink and they shipped purple.

I ordered a crape myrtle tree form this company via their sales representative. She was very helpful with the type of tree as well as the color based on my preferences and house colors. I ordered a pink crape myrtle from her on 10/26/2015. It came to me with only a brown stalk and a couple leaves. We planted it after receiving per the directions. The crape myrtle bloomed a couple weeks ago and low and behold it is PURPLE. I absolutely abhor the color purple and the rep knew this and suggested the pink or red. It looks awful next to my house and irritates me when approaching my home.
I sent an email to Jennifer who then forwarded my pictures to a warehouse shipping man. He sent her back a message, per Jennifer, that I had ordered a purple Zuni crape myrtle. Bologna. I certainly did not. Either the rep put in the wrong item or the shipping department sent me whatever they had on hand and not what I ordered. This company stinks!

Nature Hills Nursery product/service

Wish I would have searched for something like this prior to purchasing!

When I TRIED calling recently about a shrub I purchased last fall I was continually put on hold upon the phone being answered and at the 12:35 minute mark was disconnected (three times). Told in an email that took three days for someone to respond to that this was their busy season!

Really don't care...excuses like that make me ill...HORRIBLE customer service! Any company that requires you to pay 50% of the current price of an item you purchase the previous year at a much lower price to me should actually be considered a type of fraud!

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT QUALITY and acceptable customer service!

Nature Hills Nursery shipped a dead saucer magnolia tree to me

Nature Hills Nursery sent me a dead saucer magnolia tree and refused to send me a replacement tree.

Nature Hills Nursery has a warranty policy that covers for their business very well. That leaves most of the cost for replacement to customer(s) even when they ship a dead tree to customer.

(e.g. When I bought two trees, I got 1/2 of the price plus free shipping; now if I have to pay for 1/2 regular price + shipping, it would cost as much as if I got new one when it's on sale)

My Shipment #[protected] for Order #[protected]

In the first couple of months, there were very few leaves growing on the tree but no flower.
But for a long time - e.g. 6 months or more, the tree seemed to be dead; there is no leaves growing, no flower at all.

What I hope is that Complaints Board will help me to get a replacement tree for free from Nature Hills Nursery

Nature Hills Nursery tree and customer service

Do not trust this company! I ordered a tree online last May (2015). I was sent a tree that looked dead. I was told it was dormant. I followed their instructions and waited 8 weeks (they told me that it would take that long for it to leaf out). It never leafed out. I tried calling their number and every time I did, I could get no live person. The message always said that they were experiencing a high volume of calls. I finally got someone to contact me back when I emailed them and threatened complaining to the BBB (of which, it turns out, they are not apart of) I contacted them because I had paid for replacement insurance (what a joke)! I was told that a new one wouldn't ship until fall. So, I waited and waited and waited. I recontacted the person who had gotten back to me in the summer and she said they would ship late October or early November. It didn't happen. So, mid-November I contacted them again. This time I was told they had just gotten a freeze and that the trees were going to be dormant soon and shipping would start November 16. I contacted them once again and today I get a message that says because of my shipping zone they won't be shipping till spring. So, now I'm in the same boat - waiting. I am filing a second complaint with the BBB and will be finding a way to post on similar sites at this to get the word out. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

Nature Hills Nursery dead tree

Purchased a tree (Paw Paw) for $60.00.
When it arrived it was dead, did the scratch test under the bark and it was dead.
I called the company and they gave me this explanation it was dormant and it will be fine.
I explained I know when a tree is dead, she tells me to plant the tree and wait 30 to 60 days and see what happens. If it arrived dead we will replace the tree. That sounded OK.
It is now 30 days later and guess what the tree is still dead.
I called and talked to the most rude women in customer service, she would not let me say anything she just tells me I was mistaken the tree is fine. I asked for a manager and she told me she was the manager, I then asked for her supervisor and she told me there was none at I talked her our no one.
She then hug up the phone. I called back and got a voice mail, called back the next day the phone answered and the phone just disconnected.
I called back the next day and tried a different department, the lady I talked to was pleasant. I explained the dead tree I received. She had me go to the tree and scrap the bark again and it was still dead.
She then explained the one year warranty and even though I received the tree dead it is only for half the purchase price. What a RIP OFF.
The first person I talked to about the dead tree she told me they would replace the tree except for shipping since I received it dead not when I call back 30 days later it is only half plus you pay the shipping.
DO NOT BUY FROM NATURE HILL NURSERY they ship dead trees ad they lie about the one year warranty.
They have $60.00 of my money and I have a dead tree.

The same exact thing happened to me.

ordered a live tree, sent a dead twig. contacted the company 2 times over a 2 week period, I was ignored. Complained to my credit card, Natural Hills stated the tree was healthy. Picture tells the truth. Natural hills is a rip-off and scam! Warranty is a joke!

Nature Hills Nursery dead bush, no &cutomer service&

I ordered three shrubs online. Two arrived ok, one arrived dead. The ok shrubs were in pots with soil, the dead one was bare root with the roots in a plastic bag, wet paper towel wrapped around them. The plastic bag was steaming hot. We immediately misted the leaves, planted the shrub and watered it. It was clearly dead two days later, gray crisp leaves. I contacted customer support through their form and got a request for pictures of the shrub so that their nursery manager could review the pictures. i heard nothing more from them to resolve the matter. After two weeks I emailed them to ask what was going on and was told to just keep it planted and watered and it would come back. They added that they couldn't send a shrub in soil to my address. REALLY? I had received TWO shrubs in soil from them already... LIARS! And the dead shrub is still dead. No refund, no replacement. $35 RIP OFF
