Nationwide Reader Service Magazines / SCAMMERS

1 Pueblo, CO, United States Review updated:

In January 2009 I got a phone call about a great deal for magazines. They told me that it would be $68.00 for 14 months and told me that I was being recorded as I was agreeing to recieving the magazines. A few weeks later I got a letter from them saying that I had to pay the $68.00 at the 1st of EVERY month totalling to over $1, 000 in one year. I immedietly called to cancel when I realized this, and the lady told me that I could not cancel the subscription to the magazines because they had already payed for the full amount of the magazines. I told her that I could not afford to pay that much for magazines and she kept trying to lower the payments. I kept telling her that I just wanted to cancel all of the magazines. At this point I was very angry, so before she could transfer me to her supervisor, I hung up and called my credit card company to get my account number changed right away. They have continued to call me from a 1-888 number or an unknown at least 3 times a day and I never answer it. I am sending them a letter stating that there is NO CONTRACT and that I am NOT liable to pay. I have sent every magazine back and have already payed them $136.00. I refuse to pay anymore for magazines that I do not even want. In the letter... I stated that I would turn things over to my lawyer if they did not cancel my subscription. PLEASE DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY!!! This is the biggest mistake I have ever made! I am just glad that I didn't give them my social security number when they asked for it. I should have known it was a scam all along!!

The same thing has happened to me, although I have not paid them, they continue to send magazines that aren't in to so called supscription. Do you think they will be able to legally do anything? If they are scammers aren't they unable to do anything legal without giving themselves away?? That is my main concern
