Nationwide Home Warranty 3 Year Contract not Honored

I signed up for 3 year Home Warranty contract last November.
I submitted a fan repair request via online form, since I could not get hold of them over the phone.
I did not hear back till a month later via e-mail that they were no longer operating in my area and will refund the premium due to me.
It has been 10 follow-up e-mails I have set since then and they have not responded to anyone of those.
they owe me over $1000 in premium charged for remaining period.
Is there any recourse to such scam?

The below e-mail to Nationwide Home Warranty is fairly self explanatory. I am faced with the potential of having to replace an AC unit and this is what I found when filing my claim yesterday; I sent you an e-mail early this morning filing a claim with no response at all. When I called in the customer service rep advised that you no longer were servicing...

They are committing insurance fraud. I purchased 1 year policy from them for $325 in Nov 2009 and have contacted them several times via email, fax and phone and have not received any type of response as outlined in my contract. I then looked up the address they have on their website www.nationwidehomewarranty.com and found it listed as 100 Church St in...

Nationwide Home Warranty Dishonest Company

Claim process was a nightmare. I was on hold for over an hour finally hung up called back and pressed 1 for sales and what do you know someone picked up right away. Was put on hold again and after another 15 min. of hold was connected to a claims person (which suspiciously sounded just like the sales person I spoke with previously). They asked what the problem was and said a service tech would contact me within 24hrs. I was uncomfortable with the whole experience so I proceeded to contact a plumber who I knew worked with this company in the past and asked if they still contracted services through Nationwide. He informed me they stopped using Nationwide due to non-payment of services. hmmm I proceeded to contract the repair myself and call Nationwide back to cancel the claim I had put in. Before canceling the claim I asked if they would prorate my contract and refund the remaining 4 months left on my contract...His response- I see your contract expired on Jan 1st of this year. I told him you just processed a claim on this contract 10 min ago and he said I see that and will notify claims right now that this contract is expired. I than proceeded to provide him proof of the purchase date and he quickly said something I couldn't understand and hung up on me. This company is seriously shady and should not be in business. I hope people take these complaints seriously and do not purchase a warranty from these guys.

This company is a fraud. I paid for a 1 year contract for home warranty. I can't even get in touch with them. They put you on hold when you call and after being on hold for 10 minutes they go back to the main menu and you have to start the whole process again. This is ridiculous.

Do not buy a Nationwide Home Warranty unless you want no service, they refuse to answer calls. The least a home warranty p[rovider could do is answer telephone calls, I was on hold waiting for a claims representative to answer my call for 1 1/2 hours only to be disconnected.

Nationwide Home Warranty Wouldn't cover replacement. Rip Off!

Got the Nationwide Home Warranty to cover our Furnace, A/C and Waterheater. Furnace broke. Called for a technician, who came out right away. Didn't hear anything, so when I called the technician, I was told that Nationwide wouldn't cover the replacement because of rust and corrosion. The technician apparently told them that the problem has been existing for 4 years. He looked at the furnace for 10 minutes, didn't ask any questions and he knows that there was a problem for 4 years? We had maintenance done on our furnace every year and they never found a problem. Called Nationwide and they wouldn't even look at the maintenance records. What a rip off! Cancelled by contract immediately and plan to file a complaint with the BBB. Now we have to come up with the money for a new furnace.

I have purchased a home warranty for a few properties with Nationwide Home Warranty and when they are trying to get your business the customer service department is very nice, but when it comes to assist you with a claim they are very nasty! On 11/2 they went to one of my houses to check the water heater that had a leak. They sent the contractor and the contractor replaced the Temperature pressure valve. My tenant informed me today 11/13 that the water heater is still leaking and that she had called the contractor since they just went two weeks ago. The contractor sent a report to Nationwide without going again to the property stating that the problem now is the Pressure Regulator Valve. When I called Nationwide to request the service again a nasty customer service representative told me that Nationwide was not going to send the contractor again and that the pressure regulator is not covered as per their contract. The guy told me that if I want the part to be replaced I need to send and pay someone on my own. I insisted that the contractor did not go today and they insisted that they were not going to call the contractor again to check the problem. They put me on hold for 15 minutes and then they hanged up the phone on me. On another house I called for service also on the water heater and they requested prove of maintenance! Since I was not able to provide then with prove of maintenance they did not honor the service. Every time I call this company for a claim they never want to cover the parts or they fix minor things on the damage item, but when it comes to major things they never want to fix anything and they rely to their contract stating that is not covered. PLEASE! DO NOT buy the services of this company. It is a fraud. Another thing is the credit cards. They do not give you the option of getting billed. They ask for your credit card information so they can bill you whenever they want! I had to cancel the credit card I gave them because they would put a charge on your credit card to renew the contract without your authorization. Please take my advise. I can’t wait for my contract with to expire. The government should not allow companies like this to be ripping off customers like that. They should not be operating and some one has to do something about it. DO NOT BUY THEIR SERVICES!

Nationwide Home Warranty Bogus Company

This is my 3rd bad experience (Garbage Disposer issue) with Nationwide Home Warranty company. To give a context, I was lured to sign up for 2 years contract and so far it has been nothing but disappointment with this Bogus Firm. They collected a huge some of money for 2 year contract and so far I have tried to call them 3 times for simple repair. Everytime it was a disappointment after disappointment.

In the latest round of scam, I was asked to fax the contract and I did it promptly. Then I got an email stating that it was assigned to a plumbing firm where I live and I was asked to contact them to schedule an appt. When I call that firm they tried to get the work order from Nationwide and totally gave up because even the service companies are being cheated. I spoke to that firm and they shared a very similiar experience stating that nationwide Home Warranty is a bogus company and cheating numerous families in United States. BTW, they would send an email for a claim to use their state of art online system, Trust me it has never worked and it is TOTALLY BOGUS!. And in the email itself they would have blank for their password, which is ano brainer that it will not work.

I am waiting for some government/legal authority to initiate an action against such a company that has the main motto of cheating Americans by swindling their hard-earned money under the name of contract and providing NO SERVICE AT ALL Absolutely. I hope that day would come soon for a legal action.

Thx
Prak

I submitted a claim for a refidgerator/Freezer. After 5 days, they finally sent someone out. Their technician said we needed a new compressor. They attempted to call NWH many times, where they would be put on hold and then hung up on. Finally I was able to reach them and they denied our claim as they said it was a built-in unit and those were not covered...

Nationwide Home Warranty Fraud

If you're looking for a home warranty contract, DO NOT use Nationwide Home Warranty. The business they operate fraudulently advertises to resolve claims quickly and easily, a total scam. They deny all claims over $100, based upon their request for maintenance records. If you have been vicitimized by this company please submit complaints to:

1. The Better Business Bureau (in your home state and in New York),
2. The New York Attorney General,
3. The Federal Trade Commission, and
4. The Department of Real Estate (in your home state)

3 months after buying my house our HVAC stopped working. They sent someone to fix it if the problem was under $100, but when they learned it would cost much more to replace my compressor, they requested maintenance records. I provided them with the receipts for furnace filter, testament that I cleaned the system out with a vacuum homse attachment when I replaced the filters, and a copy of the home inspection showing that the HVAC system was well maintained and in proper working order when the house was purchased only 3 months prior.

My problem is that I can not provide them with the maintenance records belonging to the previous owner because we have no way to contact them.

I repeat, if you have been victimized, please submit complaints to the Better Business Bureau (in your home state and in New York), the New York Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Department of Real Estate (in your home state).

Simple Internet transaction for 1 year term in 2007 for properties in Nv and Ca. Billed my credit card for $1249. effective date of warranty July 6th 2007. They never sent a copy of contracts, nor did they request a signature from me for these contracts. Stated upon payment they would be activated for the 1 year term. No service calls required on properties in 2007. Then Nationwide billed my acct. in April 2008 for another $1249. without authorization, and since I was out of the area did not see the billing until I returned in July 2008. When I became aware I sent communications to Nationwide Home Warranty and stated they were not authorized to charge my account in the future for any warranty renewals because I would make the decision when they were ready to expire. In April 2009 they billed my credit card another $1249. and I fought to get it reversed with my credit card company. The fight went on for 2 months, until the credit card company finally said there was nothing more they could do, and Nationwide got another $1249. They now say I need to sign a written contract, which I will not do. Since then I requested a repair be made to my property in Nevada, and they are refusing because I will not sign their contract, and they will not refund my money either. I have had to closed the credit cards (that I had since 1988), I have filed with the BBB, FBI, and now both Attorney Genl office in NY and Ca. I have never signed a contract, they have my money, and NOW they have refused a service call on my property in Nv, and they will not refund. This is the biggest scam company on the internet. Looks like a Bernie Madoff relative to me.

Nationwide has rejected every claim I have submitted. I called to file a claim after much triuble contacting them (ohone calls and email) I was informed they no longer handle my area. It seemed odd because they never missed receiving monthly payments for the 13 months. I asked when this was decided and was promptly cut off. After callinf every day it was a week before someone answered. I asked when they stopped servicing my area. After a long pause he said in May 2010 and they would refund one month. I asked why no one was notified, no answer. Next day I received an email stating everyone in this area had been notified by email in May. I have never been notified and neither has my daughter. I keep all deleted emails in the trash bin on my computer there have been no emails from them. I had to pay a serviceman $223 to repair the appliance. I believe they are a ripoff and are taking money fraudulently from consumers. I cannot reach them again after repeated calls.

I've paid Nationwide HomeWarranty for a service that I did not receive. I have had the Warranty for about 2years and i paid my payments on time every 3 months. When my A.C unit went out, i called them up for service and the rep told me that Nationwide no longer does buisness in my area. I asked her as of when.?She told me as of May 2010. I then asked her if that was the case, why did they deduct the 3 month primium out of my account in May 23 2010. She looked into it and stated that it was deducted in error. She said that i would be given a refund. I have yet to recieve a refund. When i try to call the answering machine states that i should send a email. This company is a fraud beware.

I paid Nationwide Home Warranty for a 5 year term at $1, 999.99 on 3/12/09 over the phone with my credit card for coverage of our main house. On March 2010, I called to add our other house, and the man said they weren't taking any more houses in NV, but we should be ok on the one. When our water heater went out shortly after, they emailed me stating that they were no longer covering NV and a refund would be mailed. That was over a month ago, and no check ever came. I called and all phone #s were disconnected. I emailed them again with no response. I'm very interested in a class action suit to recover my money. I went on their website and saw 501 complaints about similar stories, so I'm sure alot of people would be interested in a class action suit. If you want me to fax you documents, I would be happy to. Thanks.

Nationwide Home Warranty Deceptive Practices

Company indicates in its terms and conditions that all components of pool heaters are covered under their supplemental property. They dispatched their choice of contractors who reported back to them that the gas valve inside the heater had failed. They randomly said they do not cover gas valves. I asked them how they could randomly pick a component inside the pool heater to not cover when their terms and conditions says all components of the heating system. This company is contantly a struggle to do business with and every contractor that I have spoken to indicates they are the worst of all home warranty companies for standing behind their policy. Buyer beware!

After reading all the complaints from 3 other home warranty companies they all are a disservice to the consumer. I was going to cancel my service with AHS but it appears they are relatives. Sad to say ...money is the issue . They are not concerned about the homeowner at peace. Maybe someone will create a home warranty company for the actual homeowner. Never give up HOPE!

Nationwide Home Warranty Unethical Business Practices

We were duped by these folks, and are fighting them! We bought a home warranty, and were reassured all would be covered. The A/C unit went out, we called, they sent a repairman, then refused the coverage, saying that it was pre-existing! Duh! They knew that when they sold us "coverage". Then, they said we could have it covered if we coughed up 4 years of maintenence reports. We bought the coverage because we didn't know the history of the unit, or anything else in the place we bought! They knew this when they gleefully took our money!

Unethical, Unprofessional, Deceptive, and Unreliable! Avoid them, but if it's too late, there are things that can be done!

Don't get angry, get TACTICAL!

File with the BBB in NY, File with the NY Atty. General's office, and with the State they committed the unethical business practice in!
Here are some helpful links for those of you wanting to do something about their ways!

If someone stole the amount of money you paid for your policy right out of your wallet, you'd call the cops!
Here are our online "cops"! ACT NOW!

Nationwide Home Warranty Won't Honor the Terms of the Contract

In February, 2017, I filed a claim to repair a refrigerator. I was told by the technician who they assigned that the compressor on my 6 year old Maytag refrigerator was bad. I spoke with Sasha Martinez (on 3/6 and 3/19) who told me that Nationwide denied the claim saying since I didn't have maintenance records showing I maintained the unit, the claim was closed. According to the Manufacturers users guide, all the maintenance and cleaning are things you can do yourself as part of normal care and cleaning. Nationwide told me that since I could not provide proof that I maintained the refrigerator according to the manufacturer’s requirements, the claim was closed. I provided information from the manufacturer about what they required but to no avail. When I asked to cancel they told me I couldn't cancel.

The contract states the following: "You are responsible for providing maintenance and cleaning on covered items as specified by the manufacturer to ensure continued coverage of such items. Nationwide reserves the right to request maintenance records". If the manufacturer's 'care and cleaning' suggestions are only related to basic cleaning and replacement of the water filter, I don't know what else they want me to provide. They are asking for receipts but how to you provide proof that you cleaned your refrigerator, I have not receipts for the water filters I purchased over the last 6 years, and no where in the contract does it state that I am to provide receipts from anyone. I asked that if I could provide receipts that I purchased a water filter (which has nothing to do with a bad compressor), would that be sufficient ‘proof’ and I was told no.

They also told me I have the option to pay for the repair myself ($700), submit the receipts to them and they would review and determine whether it should be reimbursed. Yea, right.

WHAT A BUNCH OF SHARKS!

Charged my DEBIT card for a warranty on a house I didn't own. I made 5 phone calls which where never returned. When I finally got someone to answer they said the credit would be processed. That was 2 weeks ago and I still have $280 missing from my bank account. Called again and someone told me they only process credits every couple weeks and I should be patient.

I doubt I will ever see the $ again. I talked to my bank, but they said since the company promissed to refund it they will not take action for 45 days.

PLEASE READ! DO NOT PURCHASE FROM NATIONWIDE HOME WARRANTY. I REPEAT DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY! THIS COMPANY IS THE BIGGEST PILE OF S**T! They recently denied a claim for their part of the repairs on my AC/heating unit because now all of sudden they want maintenance records, which they never even contacted me to tell me; I had to call them when my HVAC company was all of sudden told by Nationwide they weren’t at liberty to discuss anything with them so I called to find out what was going on, 4 days later. As stated on their website “get you back up and running again fast” is biggest line of crap, don’t fall for it. I haven't been in the house long enough to give them any records, but BEWARE if you are with this company, this is their hidden loop hole of getting out of making the repairs if you provide them. Tell them to shove it if they want maintenance records before approving anything. They tried to tell me that it was clearly stated in my contract that maintenance records would need to be provided for approval. BULLS**T! It does NOT state that anywhere in my contract. I’ve already two attorneys reread the contract and I can obviously read because they said the same thing. I addressed this to several contacts at Nationwide and the next person whom replied to that said it's not us asking for them it's the manufacturer. SERIOUSLY, DO I HAVE ### WRITTEN ACROSS MY FOREHEAD. I have now filed a complaint with the BBB in New York and with my States Office of Commissioner of Insurance for Contract Fraud and consulted with 2 attorneys whom said I have a case but to try going through the Office of Commissioners Office first because they will investigate fraud acts among companies like this for free to you. They do handle problems like this for the fact that you are in a “contract” with a warranty company. I highly recommend anyone who has been snowed and lied to even once on a denied claim they were suppose to cover to contact supply all written correspondences, GET IT IN WRITING; talk as little as possible with them via phone; keep all the emails and your contract and contact your local Office of Commissioner of Insurance and file a complaint TODAY against them. I am real live person speaking first hand; I even have records from my building inspector and appraiser that the AC/heating unit was working properly at the time of purchase so I am not trying to get away with anything and get them to fix something that was previously not working; they need to honor what they say they’re going to do. If still in doubt about this company; email me and I’ll show you proof of all the emails from this malicious company. wranglerbrand@yahoo.com

I purchased a home warranty from Nationwide Home Warranty om February 27, 2017. On April 30 my central air conditioning was not working and I called Nationwide. They sent an air conditioning service company to my home. The technician told me I need freon and he informed me that it was not covered under my warranty. I paid him $234.30. A few days later the system was not cooloing very well. I called the service company and they sent the tech out again. This time he told me I had a leak in the coils and it was unrepairable. He told me that since my system was only 10 SEER's that I would need an entire new system. He notified Nationwide and that is when my nightmare began. I filed a claim with them on June 2, and they were unresponsive. It was nearly impossible to get someone on the phone and they would not respond to e-mail. When I was able to reach someone they would put me on hold anf forget about me or pick up the phone 30 minutes and hang it up. I was persistent and over a two month period I spoke with several people. The answers I received were the exact same answers that I have read in some of the other complaints I found on this web site. They requested detailed maintenance records which I supplied them with. I have always had my HVAC system serviced twice a year and had proof. I got one excuse after the other. They told me at first they didn't receive the information I had teh maintenance company send it directly to Nationwide three times. After three months of fighting with various people at Nationwide I was told they denied my claim because I had not maintaine the system properly. Thsi was definetly not the case and I prved it to them. In their contarct there is no mention of pre-existing conditions or that you needed proof of maintenaance. The only recourse aI have is to arbitrate this matter in Brookly, New York as per their contarct. I tried to have the American Arbitration Association handle this but Nationwide would not respond. If I absolutely must I will make the trip to New York in order to prevent Nationwide from continuing this horrific scam on unsuspecting home owners. I am also going to file complaints with the State Attorney, Department of Consumer Fraud and the BBB in New York and my home state of Florida. Companies like this must be stopped. I kept a telephone log with names and dates. I also have copies of all the e-mails that went back and forth. I would be glad to sprovide copies at your request. I wish I had researched this company before I paid tehm for a warranty that is useless.

Nationwide Home Warranty is the worst company I have ever dealt with. DO NOT USE THEM EVER. I hope this company goes bankrupt very soon. They have the worst customer service, they deny any and every claim they can possibly find any reason to, and they are absolutely worthless. When you call to "check on the status of a claim", the automated system tells you the fastest way to make a claim or check a claim is via email, then hangs up on you. If you manipulate the system and try talking to another department to have them transfer you, they tell you they can't transfer (they don't have that capability). However, since I'm a phone system technician, I had the ### describe they phone he was using, and that phone does have transfer capability. He was either too stupid to know how to push the "TRANS" button or just did not want to do it. After explaining this to him, he hung up on me. You aren't the only one having problems talking to them. The contractor they send to your house has to call them to get authorizations to do repairs. They can't get through either and the system hangs up on them after being on hold for 30 minutes. I know, I tried calling as a contractor as well. If there is a good lawyer out there, I think they should try and make some type of legal case against the business. Wipe their ### out!

"Buyer Beware" - All of us should file a class action suit against Nationwide Home Warranty.

I notice water in my basement coming from a main drain pipe. It was on a Friday night. I call the 800 number and of course there is no one available after 5:00pm and week-ends, the recorder tells you to file your claim on line. I did just that and heard from no one by phone or the net. Monday morning I called again and finally spoke with someone who took my information contacted a plummer who got in touch with me later that day. He arrived the next morning (Tuesday) at 8:30 am. He look over the situation and called for verification to do the work. He spent over an hour on his phone trying to explain what the problem was. The leak I have is coming from a pipe in the wall on the second floor bathroom. The rep. the plummer was talking with keep asking if the leak was due to neglect or someone had damaged the pipe. The plummer repeatly said no, it's in the wall and no one could damage the pipe. Finally the claim rep gave up and said that he could not approve the claim untill he knew what the leak was caused from, in order to find this out, the plummer needed to rip out the vanity and tear out the dry wall to get to the pipe. The rep said he would contact his supervisor to get the approval since the problem was not visible and he will get back with him. The plummer said warranty did not cover the cost of getting to the pipe only the repair of the pipe and he wanted to charge me 400.00 to rip every thing out and another 400.00 to but it back... I told him to hold on, lets see what Nationwide has agreed to. Well as of today neither I nor the plummer have heard from Nationwide. I called yesterday and today and I still have not heard back from them. I work in the insurance industry and if I treated my clients this way I would be sued. I intend to contact the Missouri General Attorney's office and file a complaint.

If you're reading this, I'm sure you already know that Nationwide Home Warranty is absolutely awful. If you don't believe the reviews, just check the Better Business Bureau--I've included a link.

They are not a BBB accredited company, and they receive an "F" rating on a scale from A+ to F. Conversely, American Home Shield is an accredited company, and received and A+ rating.

That should tell you enough. Steer clear of Nationwide Home Warranty.

Disgusting Disgusting Disgusting service, if you still pay and for Nationwide after reading this then you deserve what you get!
They do not pay claims, they do not answer telephone calls or return calls. They frequently drop calls or put you on hold.
My Microwave broke and they are not helping to fix this at all, they are asking me for maintenance records. Who keeps maintenance records of there microwave.
I got home warranty to cover general wear and tear of household goods, and for me to be at piece of mind. They do not offer you that, they take your money and then they do not pay for damages.
People from headoffice never talk to you. There claims procedure takes days and days.
PLEASE PLEASE do not line there pockets, they will only keep your money and not fix anything!

After eight months in the home I purchased we started having a leak in the ceiling in the bedroom. It is a small leak but it did leak each team it rained and started to stain. We had a Nationwide Home Warranty and it stated in our contract that leaking ceilings in the primary residence (bedroom would be covered) are covered. I called the first time to report and they told me a contractor would be calling and to expect a $60 co-pay. I didn't hear anything from a contractor so I called again and they said to expect to hear something by the end of the week. I tried a third time and got the same response. It has now been three weeks without any resolution. They just called trying to renew my contract but I don't even know what my $400 would cover. Send your money to this company at your own risk.

I purchased their home warranty with two additional option for my refrigerator, So I paid Extra money and I paid $413 . I opened a claim with them over a month ago to repair this refrigerator. The technician evaluated the refrigerator and said company will contact me and was asking me $60 Deductible that I said my deductible is $50, But he was asking for $60 and I did not pay him and he was saying Ice maker and water cooler is not covered and I had the proof that was the email which I asked company to email me and after that he asked for maintenance paper records and this is exactly like other complaints, My claim was denied because I couldn't provide any maintenance records. I asked what maintenance records would be required for a 6 years old refrigerator and I wasn't given a clear answer (probably since there isn't one). So not only am out the full cost of this repair I also had to pay the technician the $60 deductible. Save your money and much more importantly your time and never do business with this company. I am asking to get back my money and they say the contract is not refundable, while I had Warrenty with Liberty Warrenty Company and because I sold my house I got my money back for remaining eight months.

Placed a service call on May 12, 2017 to Nationwide Home Warranty to to have a Clothes Washer repaired (machine does not go into spin cycle). I am supposed to have a 24 hour turnaround time where the contractor is supposed to setup an appointment. Today is May 18, 2017 and Nationwide or the contractor have not contacted me, despite my many phone calls.

I would like others to know that I would not choose this company for a home warranty contract.

Nationwide Home Warranty Renew Without Permission

Ntionwide Home Warranty decided to go ahead and just charge our credit card to renew our contract, although the contract stated otherwise (only if we paid month to month could they renew). When my husband called to inquire as to why this happened, the customer service rep was very rude and stated that in the contract they were allowed to do that. To his husband had to talk over her and read the contract to her and told her where he was reading from. At that point, she finally looked something up and stopped arguing with him. Then she told him he had to call back because no one from billing was there.

My husband called several other times and spoke with the billing department and was told over and over that it would be refunded within 7-14 days, and then the last couple times within 48 hours. It has been over a month since the first promise to refund our money. We have actually had to contact our credit card company and tell them of the fraudulent charges, and are trying to have this resolved by going through them. We will never trust them again!

I have read many other complaints of this same type of thing.

Nationwide Home Warranty Cheating

I enrolled Nationwide Home Warranty on January 7, 2009. The sale person told me that I could cancel my contract within 30 days without penalty. However, I found that many people complained their service after I searched internet. I immediately made a call to cancel my enrollment. One customer service representative told me that it took 5-7 business days for the cancellation. I made a call again on January 14. This time one customer service representative told me they needed a written notice and asked me to send an email to [protected]@nationwidehomewarranty.com. I sent three emails on January 14, 20 and 22. I also sent a fax on 1/20/2009. A few days later, I called Nationwide Home Warranty again and was told that they never received my emails and just received my fax and would need a few days to process the cancellation. I did wait until January 28. This time I talked with a supervisor, Michael Peterson, of billing department. He told me I never cancelled my service contract. I need to fax him a written notice and emphasized I was aware that $15 cancellation fee would be charged to me. I told him that the salesperson told me that there was no penalty within 30 days. He said if I did not followed his order, I could not get my money back. I had no other choice but followed his word and sent hom a fax on 1/28/2009. No refund received. I called again on 2/4/2009. Michael Peterson told me that it was $50 not $15 would be charged to me in I cancelled my contract. I am required to send another fax and was told that I could get refund in 3-5 days. I faxed him again on 2/4/2009. No any refund. I called on 2/9/2009, spoke to Chris T, the assistant of Michael Peterson. He said he immediately refund me and I would see the refund next morning. I have not seen the refund next day and waited until 2/11/09. I called again and spoke to Mr. Peterson and he told me I should receive my refund at the end of the week. Of course nothing happened as expected. I had to call again on Monday 2/16/09. I spoke to Chris T. He told me that I would received on Tuesday. I told him that he said a week ago that I would receive my refund but did not receive and how I knew this time I would receive. He said the would send me a confirm email, which he did. Eventually I received $339.99-50=$289.99.Better than nothing. I filled complaints to BBB and Attorney Generals of Maryland and New York.

Nationwide home warranty is a joke. I am a electrical contractor in Texas. I contracted
my company with nationwide because I thought it was a good company. Boy was I wrong!
I found out real fast that if you were not a cheat and crook you would not do well with
this company. I put my company's name on the line every time I do work. Nationwide
would not cover anything, even what was supposed to be covered. I guess I made them mad stating my displeasure with their business practices because now they will not pay me.
I really feel bad for all of the customers of this company.

The claims department's goal is to make it as difficult and unbearable as possible throughout the process. After two years of having their warranty, my water heater and valve broke. The water to my home is shut off. I took the day off from work and called Nationwide Home Warranty immediately. After dealing with the claims department all day and paying $50 for a plumber to glance at my water heater, I was told the determination for coverage was pending. It would not be for another 48 hours before they would get back to me and let me know if they will approve the repair. This meant I would not have water in my home for another three days! The plumber said Nationwide home Warranty customers always end up paying him directly to get the work done and then fighting to get any reimbursement. They obviously are not concerned about retaining a customer.

My friends. It's incredible that a company like this continues to be in business and that we as customers let them.
It started with my A/C (coil system) a year ago. Of course they did not pay anything again with the same excuse, "no previous service to the unit" even though the A/C company that went to my house said it was not required, and that it was worn out due to normal use.

Now this month. Something as simple as a cartridge/valve in one of my showers. Because its a really old model and the plumbing company would take some time to find it (thing I really don't care about), they decided the claim would be changing the entire system and not just the valve. And of course and guess what! yes, changing everything it's not covered. But hey who cares even thought the plumbing company stated the problem is only the valve (and I have it in paper).

So now Nationwide wants me to accept $175.00 signing a TOP SECRET release form that I know many of you will laugh at it as soon as I post-it all around the web (coming soon). Just make some simple numbers, $60.00 for the plumbers visit, finding and buying the part (unknown) and labor (you choose). Please my friends vote if you think I should sell my soul for this price. I think I know the answer.

I'm not even going to get into customer service and everything else everyone has written. I don't know when they decided not to abide by the long known phrase "customer first". But the only thing I know is that us as consumers, we can do much more to get this known to other provable "victims" If I might say. I already managed to stop 2 friends of mine on signing with them (and this was just via word of mouth) in one week, now just wait for the rest. Thank God for the wonders of the web.

Fortunately I can fix it on my own resources, but I don't want to imagine everyone else that rely on insurance, and after paying and paying for it, they will not receive any benefit at all.

I appreciate this site, though I read it too late. I too purchased a policy from Nationwide Home Warranty. Upon purchase, I directly asked what would be needed to fill requirements to file and process a claim, specifically asking if paperwork (ie, any records, etc) be needed at that time. I was clearly told "NO" by the sales person. Nearly a year went buy and my washer stopped spinning. When filing the claim, they first had no one in my area (a city at that), and when questioning the payment to the appliance repairman, asking "Ok, I give this fellow a check and he repairs it? or you replace it? Correct?" and received a "We'll see" response. I believe at this time, even before it was looked at, they were saying they would not pay this claim. I have a beautiful Maytag machine, but a part did in fact wear out. I would cost a bit to fix. The appliance fellow stated not only to me, but to them at my request, that it was just normal wear and NOT due to misuse or deglect. They now "required a maintenance record". I called Maytag who clearly stated they did NOT require maintenance on their washers for their warranties OR to keep it in excellent running order. (Their written clause clearly states such records only needed on items "as specified by the manufacturer". Maytag does NOT specify such a thing). Hence, fraud. I have now read many reports similar. They are not a reputable company and should be stopped. I have lost my "peace of mind" they so gladly offer when you turn over a policy money. I am out that, the fee to the appliance guy and weeks lost of a needed machine. To top it off, I had the flu at that time and could not leave home to take the laundary elsewhere. A very dangerous business arrangement. Homemaker in Arkansas

Nationwide Home Warranty Unpaid Claim, Poor Customer Service, Rip Off Because Policy Will Not Cover Me

I am disgusted with the way I have been treated. I purchased Nationwide's Full Protection Plan only to get no protection. They asked for maintenance records on my AC unit. I explained to them that these documents should have been requested at the time of my purchasing the contract, which was purchased before I closed on my home. I have submitted the invoice showing when the unit was installed and I have no other documents available or means to obtain any other documents. The stated that the invoice was insufficient and that the claim was still denied. I want my money back because this policy can not be used. I don't have maintenance records for any item in my home. The company should be closed due to fraudulent business practices. I don't understand how a company can take our hard earned dollars and deceive us with false security.

I purchased home warranty from Nationwide Home Warranty for one year beginning July 26'2009. On 19th August 2009, I saw a leak in my air conditioning unit so I made a complaint about it. They forwarded my complaint to a local vendor Airflow Inc. The technician came to my house & found out the problem & he estimated this repair for $1630. When technician spoke to Nationwide's representative over the phone, she told him not to do any repair & advised him to leave. Without talking to me or telling me anything she hung up the phone. I did not let the technician go & called up nationwide again. Then their manager told me since water leaked from A/c unit & that water caused rust & they won’t repair it. Then I said but air is leaking from the pipe also what about that, for that she replied that this unit is still under manufacturer warranty so they won’t repair it. Whereas the truth is this unit is 12 years old & it’s not under any manufacturer warranty. In front of me technician never spoke to me about manufacturer warranty. They are just making excuses not to repair it. Since it was really hot here during peak summer & my kids were off from school, I had no choice but to pay for this repair out of my pocket. Then I called up this company & told them Your company is not at all good for providing such services & I want to cancel my contract & refund my money. They denied for that too These company people are lying for everything & they don’t help at all. They are highly unprofessional & unreliable.
If You call them for 30 minutes to an hour nobody picks the phone & if they want to make any excuse they will never answer the phone .
Last month they took out some additional money from my credit card without providing any service& without informing me . Finally I blocked this company to withdraw any money from my credit card. SO just look at your credit card statements also if you have given your credit card info to this company .

Claim turned down to replace oven due to allegation of rust. Appliance was checked by contractor and contractor reported to Nationwide that the oven needed to be replaced due to numerous reasons. I contacted the contractor and he verified that he never reported anything to Nationwide relating to rust or corrosion of the unit. There is no rust or corrosion on the oven. It is not functioning due to failure of the covered items under the Nationwide contract. I called four times on December 15, 2009 in an attempt to resolve the issue. I asked for a three way between myself and a company representative, I was refused. I asked that they send someone else out to get a second opinion, I was refused. I asked for a coporate executive phone number, I received an e-mail address. The contractor contacted Nationwide and informed them that he did not report anything about rust or corrosion relevant to my oven, they still refused to investigate my contentions.

I bought 5 Home Warranties from Nationwide and all I got was aggravations and customer service with no common senses. Here are some more recent events:
1. I owned 5 properties at the time I bought those home warranties. And a few days later, I bought another property as my primary residence. However, the newest property I bought came with home warranty bought by seller and serviced by Old Republic. Magically, one of the the 5 home warranties that I bought from Nationwide disappears (didn't know about it until I called to make a claim) and they put the newest property as the one of 5. I have the original welcome package that they emailed me and email that file back to them to show my proof but they claimed that I had electronically signed for that.. How can documents change from the time that I bought it to the time that I actually made the claim? I am amazed in a awful way that they are pulling tricks out of their sleeves to avoid paying. So, essentially, one of my properties has two home warranties.. Can't reason with them AT ALL..
2. Like other users have mentioned, they always request for proof of maintenance for them to process the claim.. To me, all they are trying to do to perform what they are supposed to be.. a home warranty company.. and their customer services are the worst..

Signed up with nationwide for service contract on appliances and a/c heating. Signed up in June 2009. A/c problem occurred in late July. Had A/c inspected in April 2009 and all was well. Unit was less than 5 years old. Condenser problem occurred. Nationwide failed to cover even though unit working and they did not inspect which right they had under the contract. Nationwide asked for doumentation of maintenance which I provided the April 2009 A/c routine check and service. They failed to cover making excuse that I needed documentation of maintenance for each year. When they took over service it was working and they failed to inspect if they had an issue. The company is a scam.

I filed a claim for a 'covered' washing machine that became inoperable on November 22nd (Friday). After filing the claim, I received an email (on Saturday the 23rd) telling me who the contractor would be. I called them but since it was the weekend, I couldn't talk to them till Monday.

Called contractor on Monday saying I was notified that Nationwide had notified them of my washer problem. They said they never received anything so I called Nationwide. They then said they would send necessary paperwork.

Later that same day, I called the contractor and they said they had finally (probably six hours later) received the authorization for my 'dryer' repair. Told them it was a washer, not a dryer and was told they would have to contact Nationwide for proper paperwork before scheduling a tech.

The next day, still no proper paperwork so I called Nationwide again. They finally sent it later in the morning and contractor was scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving. He came out, said it was a bad pump that would have to be ordered and would take till first of week after Thanksgiving. In the meantime, we had to go to the laundramat and spent $52 to get our laundry done.

Got a call the following Tuesday from contractor saying 'good news, the pump is in...bad news is though that we just realized we no longer do business with Nationwide because they don't pay on their claims'. Great!

Called Nationwide and they said they would send another contractor which I objected to since it had already taken too long. Told them to send a check and I would get it taken care of on my own. They said OK and would send me an email for an authorization form in order to process the check. Here it is, almost three weeks and several phone calls later and still no form or check and still a broken washer machine.

This company doesn't miss a beat when it comes time to take their monthly payment via ACH but really drags their feet when it comes to living up to their end of the contract.

AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Boy, do I wish I had read all of these filed complaints before I paid my yearly premium. All I can say is DON'T EVEN CONSIDER IT! Everything I read here has been my experience. I would have cancelled a couple of months into it if they had any kind of cancellation refund, but they don't. I thought I would see it through to the end of the term and then not renew. After all, how bad could it really be? In a word -- Terrible! They still owe me $200 from a settlement agreement that I should have recieved by March 15. I can't reach a real person. Just rings and rings and then mysteriously gets disconnected. I wonder if they haven't gone out of business. No one even answers in their sales or billing dept. I filed a complaint with the BBB of NY and am planning on filing the other recommended complaints listed on this site as well. They really need to be stopped and put out of business all together.

Nationwide Home Warranty is a huge SCAM and FRAUD! Do NOT give them your money. You will never see a repair or a refund of any kind. I have spent countless hours on the phone holding, listening to their lies, being hung up on, etc. They are never in during their "normal" business hours. It's somewhat reassuring to know there are people trying to pull together for a class action lawsuit. The only thing this company does is LIE and I think it's a pre-req for all their employees. If you're dealing with them proceed with caution and keep good notes...

I own a property management company and I have a tenant that has called in with a complaint of no heat. The owner has a home warranty through Nationwide Home Warranty, so I am obligated to use them for all maintenance calls. The phone number that I have been provided says the number can not be completed as dialed. Jsut in case the number may have been given to me incorrectly, I have attempted to go to their web site to get the correct contact information, or to make the maintenance request online. None of the links on the company web page will open. Basically, I have no way to submit the request. This is ridiculous! I don't have time to waste just trying to contact the home warranty company. Making maintenance requests should be easier!

I purchased a contract from Nationwide on 8/11/09 and my ac went out this week. I tried to call Nationwide and was on hold for 30 minutes with no response, so I emailed them. I received an email the next day on 5/21/10 saying that they were no longer servicing my area, sorry for the inconvenience and they would send me a pro rated refund. I sent them an email back asking why they did not notify me that they were no longer servicing my area (if they would have notified me I would have gotten a contract elsewhere to make sure I was protected) and as of what date did they stop servicing me? They said as of 4/1/2010. I then responded telling them that I had a contract with them and I did not think they could cancel it at their own free will. They responded by suddenly sending me a claim number and the number of a contractor in my area for me to contact. I contacted the contractor right away and he proceeded to tell me that they only service commercial business and he had never talked to anyone from Nationwide.
Basically I am getting the complete run around, probably will never be helped. Very upset because it is going to be 90 degrees and humid as can be this weekend and I have an 18 month old son. I do not know how these people sleep at night. This is comletely wrong. I would like to be a part of the class action law suit I read about on here. If someone could please contact me I would appreciate it. Thank you!

I SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH NATIOWIDE HOME WARRANTY IN MAY OF 2009 I WAS INFORMED BY THE REP WHO DREW UP MY CONTRACT THAT I COULD PLACE A CLAIM WITHIN 30 FROM THAT DAY. I DID. I WAS DENIED THE CLAIM BEFORE NATIONWIDE SENT OUT ANY TECHS TO MY HOME. I HAD PLACE SEVERAL CLAIMS. THEY ALL WERE DENIED. NO SERVICEMEN WERE SENT OUT TO MY HOME. YET, NATIONWIDE WAS DEBITING A MONTHLY FEE FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT. I CONTACTED THE COMPANY. EACH MANAGER THAT I HAD SPOKEN TO GAVE ME A RUDE RESPONSE. I WAS SO DISCUSSED WITH NATIONWIDE THAT I CONTACTED THEM TO CANCEL MY CONTRACT. THE MEMBER OF MANAGEMENT THAT I HAD SPOKEN TO LAUGHED AND INFORMED ME THAT HE WILL NOT CANCEL MY CONTRACT. I THEN CONTACTED MY BACNK AND ASKED THEM WHAT I COULD DO TO STOP NATIONWIDE FROM CONTINUING TO DEBIT MY ACCOUNT. THE ONLY THING I COULD DO WAS TO CANCEL MY DEBIT CARD. I DID. I ONLY REGRET THAT I DID NOT CANCEL MY DEBIT CARD SOONER.

Nationwide Home Warranty poor service, denying a claim

I purchased their home warranty with an additional option for a second refrigerator. I opened a claim with them over a month ago to repair this refrigerator. I was finally able to get someone to come out by threatening to cancel my warranty. The technician evaluated the refrigerator and found that the condenser was bad. At that point you have to call in and have the claim approved. My claim was denied because I couldn't provide any maintenance records. I asked what maintenance records would be required for a four year old refrigerator and I wasn't given a clear answer (probably since there isn't one). So not only am out the full cost of this repair I also had to pay the technician the $60 deductible. Save your money and much more importantly your time and never do business with this company.

They decided to go ahead and just charge our credit card to renew our contract, although the contract stated otherwise (only if we paid month to month could they renew).

I am in total agreement with the above complaints. We all have the exact same experince with this company. My furnace stopped working and I was asked to provide records to determine if yearly maintenance had been completed. I then have to wait an additional six days before a decision would be determined. The represenatives as well as managers are rude and unprofessional. I can't belive their lack of concern when you call them for a claim. The represenatives speak to you as if you have done something wrong by having a crisis at home. I firmly believe the customers deserve better service and a more supportive claims department. My interactions with the service department has been the worst experience and we are paying for this abuse. I, too will be contacting the BBB to alert all parties concerned how underhanded this company operates. I did not expect this type of poor service when I signed up with the represenative (con artist) who was very personable. It is wrong and cheating the customers when we already have a crisis at home. This company makes the situation worse!

Nationwide home warranty is a complete rip off. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. We had our sump pump go out completely. The sent someone out, we paid the $60 deductible, and he informed Nationwide that return valve was put on backwards. First of all this was after 5+ years of no problems at all with the sump pump. It didnt go out because the return valve was put on wrong, it went out because the motor died. So this claim was denied for a $5 piece of plastic. They probably had the tech lie about it any way so he gets his money and they dont have to spend any.
Now our washer went out and we called the claim in on the 4th of October. A tech came out on the 7th. They informed Nationwide of the repairs needed, even possibly just replacing the washer. Now 9 days later still nothing. I spoke w/ a so called manager on the 14th and she said that it was in billing. I called today and spoke to a different manager and she said it was in billing. I advised that I want a refund on my warranty and was told that cant be done. I asked to speak to the billing dept. and that cant be done.
Nationwide is nothing but a crooked, piece of garbage company. Do not waste your money on them. I realize that this text wont get me anywhere, but if someone reads this and changes their mind about buying their warranty, then I will feel better about this. I hope that the company goes under, the bigwigs go to jail for fraud and they all get back threefold for what they do to honest consumers.

Natinonwide Home Warranty is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They take your money and refuse to pay for legitamate claims.

They demand maintenance records for appliances that do not require periodic or preventive maintenance then deny your claim when you can't produce something that should not exist. If by some chance you had a repair done then they will deny your claim because of a prior repair that they claim voids thier obligation. Either way they refuse to pay your claim. What a scam. You will be sorry if you buy insurance from them. It is simply giving your money away.

This company is a total scam. Run from this company. The told me my charge would be $250 but charged my credit card $400. They denied every claim because first they said I needed to show I maintained the appliance. When I showed them the records, they told me they don't cover appliances that had repairs previously. People there are VERY rude and no one...
