National Saving Certificates — NSC claim of deceased holder not settled
This is regarding the claim settlement of National Saving Certificates of the the deceased holder (Late. Yug Narayan Jha), who died on 17/09/2009.
The NSC got matured in month of July 2014. The nominee of NSC is Smt. Binu Jha (w/o Late. Yug Narayan Jha).
There was 4 NSCs, having value Rs.10, 000 each.The NSC numbers are : 84EE 642639, 84EE 642640, 84EE 642641 & 84EE 642642.
The nomination was registered at Shibpur P.O. under number 764, dated 17/07/2008.
The nominee has submitted the claim application form in Shibpur P.O. on 20th Nov 2014 and the following documents has been attached with the claim application form:
1. Copy of Death Certificate of the deceased holder
2. Copy of PAN card of the nominee(claimant)i.e. Smt. Binu Jha
3. Copy of Aadhar card of the nominee(claimant)i.e. Smt. Binu Jha
4. Copy of Voter ID card of the nominee(claimant)i.e. Smt. Binu Jha
5. Copy of Driving Licence card of two witnesses i.e. Mr. Rajesh Jha & Mrs. Jyoti Jha
I, Jyoti Jha (D/o Late. Yug Narayan Jha), am writing this letter to you on behalf of my mother.
We have been told that once the application will get processed, the nominee will recieve a letter from the post office, and she will have to come again with that letter to settle the claim amount.
But when I enquired the Shibpur P.O. today, after 2 months, I came to know that the claim was not processed yet. The Postmaster of the Shibpur P.O. told me that she want PAN card copy and Aadhar card copy of the witnesses to
process the claim, and she will not process with the copy of Driving Licence cards of two witnesses.
I would like to know, if this is the valid and appropriate reason for delay of the claim settlement.
When nominee herself is the claimant and she had submitted all the valid documents, then why the claim was not processed according to the Citizen's Charter of Department of Posts.
Kindly look into this matter on priority.
