National processing company / Threatening phone call

1 Brooklyn, NY, United States Review updated:

I received a phone call from an Indian speaking individual yesterday, March 4, 2009 at around 11am. He said he was calling from National processing division, the legal department about a serious matter. He says I owed money on a pay day loan from crown lending and the money had to be repaid. I hung up the phone. This time Frank Hall calls me back, still with a strong Indian accent threating that I owed this money and if I did not pay the police were going to come and arrest me. So I asked for the number to the lending company which switched from crown lending to pay day one loan company. The number he gave me was [protected], when I call another Indian person answers the phone and says hello; asks for my name. I questioned him about the alleged debt owed. He could not answer my questions and hung up the phone on me. I then called Frank Hall back at the number he provided which was [protected]. I told him this was a scam and he put his supervisor on the phone and his name was Kevin. I told him I was going to contact the police if I ever received any more calls from them. He asked me not to call him ever again and that I would be sorry and that the courts would contact me by phone to appear in court within the next few days. I ended the phone call telling him that I'm calling the police and give them all the contact info they gave me. I am outraged, how could they have gotten my info so easily?

My cousin got a call on his cell phone asking to speak to me, saying someone had filed a lawsuit against me. And they had gotten his name from a loan application I had filed. I have only ever applied for one payday loan and I have the proof that it was paid off. I'm not sure how they are getting this information, but it could be very embarrassing if they start calling all my friends and relatives. Anyone know if there is anything we can do to stop them?

received numerous phone calls. they even contacted my daughter who lives in another state. After some serious thought I suspected that there was something wrong with this activity and decided to investigate further. Thanks for the info.
