National Home Loan Assistance Program Predators and Rip Off

We began conversation with this group to modify our loan. They seemed legit and after several phone calls, emails, and then an internet search, we signed a contract. Then, with three days to change I checked with rip-off and saw red flags! However, by then, the spouse had sent them a check for $3900. Needless to say, they went out of business shortly after that. Now we are with an attorney group that counsels for free and they are helping us. A very sorry lesson to learn...

National Home Loan Assistance Program Fraud

This company promised to assist me with a loan modification of my mortgage. My husband was out of work for a year and by the grace of god I have a good job and was aboe to good the house going. I paid them up front $900.00 to work with my mortgage company (first & second). They talked a reallty good game, but when I mentioned the type of work I do I no longer heard from them.

I was able to modify my loan myself through my mortgage company. I was contacted by the San Diego County District Attorney's Office and forwarded all the information/evidence to an investigator. Being in the legal profession I was able to be conned and felt very very stupid for falling for them but atleast they didn't get the whole $2, 500.00 they were looking for. In that sense I was lucky. Loan modification can be done through your mortgage company. It can be stressful getting all the documentation together, but in the long run only you can advise your mortgage company of your plight. Beware of these bottom feeders and god bless.

National Home Loan Assistance Program They conned me out of $2000.00!

As a homeowner in danger of foreclosure, we were taken advantage of by the promise of help. We were contacted in July, by the National Home Loan Assistance Program with promises of negotiating our 8.9% interest rate down to a fixed 6%. We were told they could not help us, and our bank would not work with us unless we were late by 30 days minimum. So, stupidly (desperately) we let our mortgage lapse into 30 days late.
We then started the process of "loan modification" with them. We received a pre- approval letter, and we were told NOT to under any circumstances make any mortgage payments. We were instructed to write, and fax NHLAP a $2, 000 check. We had already searched their name on the web, and our search turned up nothing bad. NHLAP said the entire process would take 45-60 days, and their success rate was 99%.
Shortly after the check was faxed, we had trouble getting in touch with anyone. On December 18, 2008 our bank told us our modification was denied. We were (and are) devastated. On December 22, 2008 I requested a full refund in the amount of $2, 000. In an email dated December 28, 2008, we received an email from NHLAP, stating that we were put on the "refund list, " and the accounting department would be contacting us "shortly."
We have received several empty promises, a contract, and even emails that promise our refund, as well as contact from their accounting dept. The only live person we ever speak with is a woman named Chelsea, who claims not to have the ability to transfer my call (due to a move). We told them by email and phone, that we would be filing a report with the BBB, as well as the California Attorney General's office (which we did). We also told them we would be contacting the press in an effort to save other families from this nightmare. Believe me, if this could happen to us, it could easily happen to other frightened home owners! Nobody will give us any answers. I have evidence to support my claims. Also, check the BBB web site, the BBB gives them a C- ! That was before I complained! I wish I had done more research! I know if you are in this situation you are desperate, but don't be foolish (as I was). If they took my 2K and refuse to speak with us, what will they do to you?

My husband and i are in the exact situation except the company is Loan Secure. They were in contact with us everyother day untill we faxed over the account # and the signed agreement for 1800.00 to be withdrawn from our account and then we could never get in touch with anyone, the quit returning our calls, and eventually all the phone # we had for them were no longer in service. A couple months later they had the nerve to send us a so called collection letter stating that if we didn't pay the remaining 500.00 it would go on our credit report i called the # on the letter and left the so called attorney a message stating we were not paying anything and the they can proceed with taking us to court because that would be the only way to attempt to get our money back. Lord and behold those numbers were disconneted a week later and we have never recieved anything else from them. Our mortagage company them selves told us we had to be atleast 30 days late on our mortagage pynt in order to start the loan modification process and STUPIDLY we believed them and did as instructed by them not ever thinking our mortagage company would stear us in the wrong direction because after all they were the one that we owed all th money to well we were wrong VERY WRONG they did and still have done absoulotly nothing to help us. we hired another company called HOPE FOR HOME OWNERS to help us fight to keep our house. we pd them there fee of 900.00 dollars our mortagage company stil won't budge so needless to say our home was put in a sherriff sale back in may 2009 HOPE FOR HOME OWNERS refunded us our full 900.00 and have still to this day sept. 2009 have been fighting our mortagage company to help us keep our home and havn't asked us for a penny. We contacted our local tv stations to try to get some help with this and we were basically told it's not important enough to do a report on so now were are out of all the money we pd LOAN SECURE we lost our home we have to be out in a few weeks and and still can't find a place in our budget because my husband is the income we have 3 kids. I was suppose to start school soon to become a paramedic but that now has to be put on the back burner till we can get back on our feet. If there is anyone that can give me some advise on what to do now to get our money back from LOAN SECURE PLEASE PLEASE let us know we would be very greatful. Also if anyone knows of anything else we can do to fight our mortagage company because i thougt the law obama passed and the goverment bailing the mortagage companies out was so that they gave us home owners every opertunity to keep our house please let us know that as well. Somthing needs to be done to these people that are scamming people who are already in a serious bind as so should the same punishment need to be done to the mortagage companies who refuse to do the loan modifications for home owners willing to keep their home. We also have all the proof of everything that we have been through so maybe something can be done maybe us home owners who have been through this terrible terrible situation can come together to get something done because clearly no one else is willing to help us.

OMG as I read all this complaints I can't believe there is such heartless company. I too was victim of NHLAP by 3, 200.00. I was first contacted by an agent of NHLAP by the name of Jennifer on August of 2008. She assured me that her company would be able to modify my mortgage payments as well as lower my interest rate. For about 4 mos I periodically called her on her cell phone [protected] and [protected] and everytime I spoke to her she assured me everything was fine and that it was taking longer than usual. At the beginning of December I spoke to her and to my surprise that would be the last time to my suprise a week later whn I called her back to get an update both her numbers where disconnected. I then called [protected] and like some of you spoke to chelsea at this point I was upset and demanded to speak to someone in the refund department. She told me she would have someone call me back since everybody was busy she also assured me that she would send an e mail to the refund department to request my refund back. Well new year got here In the middle of January again called NHLAP since I had not heard from anyone and again I was upset and at this time I told chelsea that I would not get off the line untill I spoke to someone after a very long wait she got back on the line and trnasfer me to Ria which identified herself as a supervisor. I told her my story again and she assured me that she would personally be handling my case and that she sould make sure she would keep me posted on a weekly basis. I told her that all I wanted at this point was my money back she again told me to allow them to make things right and she made a comment saying that this was the reason as to why jennifr was no longer with NHLAP. So again like stupid I believed in her since our conversation in the middle of January I still have yet to hear from her or anybody at NHLAP I have called Ria at her personal number [protected] ext 203 and of course number is disconnected. After reading all these complaints I will be seeking legal advise also will be filling a complaint with the atty general in my state and ask to have the FBI involved. I too feel your pain and I wish that I would have never answered that call.

I whole heartedly agree. I contacted the Attorney General Consumer Protection Division for Maryland and Mr. Berg has sent several letters and has gotten no reply. I think the FBI should get involved in this scam artist. Mr Berg Of The Attorney Generals Office doesnt think things look to promising for me to get my money back and I am angry.

We are another set of victims! Contacted NHLAP when we were a month behind on our mortgage and struggling to make payments. Paid them $1, 995.00 to restructure our mortgage. Like previous complaints, we got no satisfaction-only continued messages from Chelsea that we were in mitigation and everything looked "good." After six months of this, we were served foreclosure papers by our lender. We attempted a request of a refund of our $1, 995.00 based on NHLAP's "100% Guarantee" to no avail. Now, we have had to hire an attorney but looks like we are probably going to lose our home to foreclosure! Does anybody care that people are being scammed!? Does that not mean anything to these lenders when deciding to put you out of your home!? I would do anything to turn back time and be out of this situation! Isn't there anyone who can help us victims from losing our homes!?

I was contatced by a man by the name of Royal Forbes in reguards to my complaint after the General States Attorneys Office called NHLAP's office and well this guy was telling me how 5 people took money from the company and how he talked to the owner and would be receiving a total refund and he used curse words to me. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIAL! I told him to send me something in writing saying I was getting my money refunded and well it didnt happen so I told him I dont trust them nor beleive them and hated his unprofessionalism. How I really didnt care who ripped them off but they ripped me off and that I care about. I told Royal I was done and would be letting General States Attorneys Office hanlde this matter from here on out because I was getting now where. Mr Berg from General States Attorneys Office called Royal and got an voice mail saying Royal forbes no longer worked there. Mr Berg then send the 3rd letter to them to dispute my claim and has yet to hear a word from NHLAP. I have been contacted by teh media and I will give them my story and I also intent on seeing to it that the FBI get involved.

I too was ripped off of $1000.00 by National Home Loan Assitance Program and I have filed a complaint with Cunsumer Protection States Attorneys office in Maryland because I was unable to speak to Ria (the manager) and Chelsea was her blocker. I have all my proff that NHLAP did nothing to help me and I have documented every call I have made to them with no return calls back and faxes to them with no response and I am LIVID! These people arent there to help any but themselves to your money and giving you nothing in return except a voicemail when you call them! I feel these people should be sued to high heaven!

According to the loan modification software developed for NHLAP, accurate and detailed customer service records are kept for a period of two years. These records represent all in-bound and outbound correspondence in writing including telephone conversations.
Because of these records, we are able to determine that The Habermans are incorrect and misleading in many of their reported statements.

In October of 2008 the Habermans case was initiate processed and handled by (now defunct ) Leeb Financial NHLAP of Minnesota. After seeking immediate resolution for the pending foreclosure, it is our opinion that the quickest way out for the Habermans was to proceed with not cooperating and then requesting a refund. The San Diego office took over the case at the middle of November of 2008 and has since file suit against Leeb Financial NHLAP of Minnesota on Dec 24. At such time, the Habermans were unwilling to cooperate despite attempts to complete their file.

The Habermans attempt to dissuade homeowners from seeking assistance with NHLAP due to their present circumstances is completely without merit. Hundreds of homeowners have reached a satisfactory resolution every week with their lender after working with NHLAP. Furthermore, their remarks to discredit Dawn Scott are unjustified and inaccurate. Dawn handled their case within the guidelines established to gather the financial information required in order to submit the loan for modification. In addition, the Habermans were supported with complete disclosure and references prior to submitting their case for review. It was their choice to proceed with a loan servicing company in the beginning to stop the impending foreclosure and when they thought they found a way to work directly with their lender, (who at first refused for a period of five months per customer service records of Heather Haberman) it was then they wanted a refund.
It seems that Heather likes to slander an attack NHLAP while the email below from her husband and other documents to support that there is another agenda going on and will be litigated in San Diego Superior Court.

Govern yourself accordingly
