I received a collection notice from a company called National Credit Audit Corporation, Peoria, IL [protected] back in August, 2006, asking me to send a past due amount for a subscription to the magazine, Diabetic Cooking, which I had NOT renewed.
I did send a check for $14.95 because it was an insignificant amount and again requested that they tell their client company to stop sending any more magazines.

I also had this happen. I went to Good Housekeeping to sign up for a free sweepstakes, after signing up I was asked to sign up for a subscription. I clicked the "No" button. They sent me a magazine anyway.
Yesterday I got a mailing from NCAC regarding payment for the past due bill at Good Housekeeping.
I never ordered the magazine in the first place. I sent an email to Good Housekeeping as well as NCAC about this matter and hope to hear something back.
You're right. After reading all the posts above something needs to be done about this company. They seem to be taking advantage of decent, honest people and it's not right.
I also received a Collection notice from this anoing company and i send a check that they said was lost and no megazine, I talk to them and aks for cancell all subcription, please do something with these people
In joining the rest of you on this thread, YEP I'm livid by this whole "mass-produced" garbage this company refers to as "a-means-to-generate-business." Received my counterfeit collection agency notice and thought that I'd have a chat with them because I have cancelled this subscription 4 months prior, BUT I was saved from this aggrivation because of this community.
I am so glad to have read all of your experiences. THANK YOU, for taking the time to share them! You've now saved me from spending anymore of my valuable time to waste on something so insignificant.
Any type of envelope that appears to match the one I've received, I will just write on it "REFUSED, " and mail it back.

Apparently ChoicePoint, which is the parent company to the National Credit Audit Corp. has it's rather dirty fingers into a lot of business prospects, all of which are involved in less than shady practices.

Anyone who sends them ANY money for ANY reason is a tool. These guys are making more money than the guys from Nigeria!
This company is totally bogus! After the 2nd notice or so I figured I would pay them for a subscription beacuse I seemed to remember asking the magazine to bill me. Next thing I know my subscription is payed up through **2011**! I am still getting notices from NCA but according the the magazine I am paid up.
DON'T SEND THEM MONEY, they will just renew your subscription for you and keep sending you notices. Call the magazine directly and confirm your acount status!
March 6, 2008 I received a "Collection Notice" from National Credit Audit Corporation (8512 Allen Rd. Peoria, IL 61615; [protected]) for a "past due" amount of $27.97 for "Georgia Sportsman" magazine, which I have NEVER ordered and have no desire to read!
As background, several months ago I suddenly started receiving invoices from several magazines to which I never subscribed. At first I tossed them in the trash, but after invoices from several different magazines started arriving, I took them to the post office (unopened) and asked them what to do about them. The attendant wrote "Refused" and "Return to Sender" on them, and I've been continuing to do that with the ones that I've since received.
In the months following, when I do receive an invoice, I repeat the procedure. Over time, most of these unsolicted invoices have stopped. One of these invoices has been from a Georgia fish and wildlife publication (can't recall the exact name), and I have received two issues of their publication (several months apart). The first issue I marked "Return to Sender" and "Refused" and sent it back to them. The second, I put in recycling and assumed that they would eventually stop sending them to me when I didn't send them any money!
With the arrival of the "Collection Notice" from "National Credit Audit Corporation" yesterday, I got mad and am fighting back! IF YOU GET ONE OF THESE NOTICES OPEN IT CAREFULLY TO PRESERVE THE PRE-PRINTED "STAMP" ON THE ENVELOPE, AND KEEP EVERYTHING THAT IS IN THE ENVELOPE.
THEN start filing WRITTEN complaints with: 1) the U. S. Postal Service (www.usps.com/postalinspector) for the possiblity of a bogus "Permit No.; " 2)the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) for the possibility of a bogus company; and 3)your state's Attorney General's office.
To protect yourself, write this company a "drop dead" letter, and send it with some sort of devliery verification. (You can find a sample copy at http://clarkhoward.com/topics/drop_dead_letter.html)
I have also emailed the publisher of the "Georgia Sportsman" magazine to see if they are aware of bogus collection notices being mailed out using their publication's name. In addition, I've done a Google search of the street address for "National Credit Audit Corporation" where I've discovered the "parent company" for this organization (along with a host of other complaints).
Whatever you do, please DO NOT send them any money! Be sure that your ONLY communication with them is in writing as that is the only way your rights are protected under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf)
It will take some leg work on your part to help shut down this "company." Posting blogs on a complaint web site is good, but we must all join together to file complaints with the proper governmental agencies, and write "drop dead" letters to to protect ouselves. When we all do this, we can make this "company" go away for good!
March 6, 2008. More bogus billing from Golf magazine via National Credit Audit Corp. I agree it is consumer terrorism! No money from me. These folks sound like they are crooks!
National Credit Audit Corporation is a FRAUD, a SCAM. It is not the publishers that are sending you these notices. You will probably notice that they are for a strange amount and that the name of the publication is not always correct (close but not correct). Often times the name is not correct either (maiden name or deceased). Don't send them money and let the publisher know that their publication is being used in this scam so they can take action against NCAC and notify other unsuspecting subscribers of this scam. My wife just received one of these bogus renewals a couple of months ago (maiden name) and at work (I work for a publishing company) we just learned that NCAC is using one of our publications in this scam. We found this out by one of our customers calling us and faxing a copy of the document they received.
I recieved a Collection Notice from National Credit Audit Corporation, I took Hot Rod for a couple years. Paid for it and now they are trying to charge me for something I didn't renew I might have got one book, I'm not paying $15.00 for a years worth that I didn't get Please help!
I have recieved a bogus Collection Notice from National Credit Audit Corporation for PINK MAGAZINE, which I never ordered. I will happily be one of the people to assist if filing a class action suit. I will take every step as a responsible citizen to counter this consumer terrorism!
I have emailed Shermans Travel numerous times to cancel my subscription after I received the first copy
as it was not what I had expected. I keep getting statements from them? They acknowledged my first email
and said they would take care of it,and I keep getting the statements? Now I get a statement from you and

I recently received a Colection Notice from NCAC for a delinquent account which is not really delinquent. I checked on the company and have noted the numerous complaints lodged against this company. Is there any action we can take such as a class action suit against this company for their underhanded illegal activities...
I received a Collection Notice from NCAC for $19.95 for something called "VIETNAM". I don't know what it is. This was addressed to my mother who is deceased. I certainly will not pay for something , what ever it is, that neither she nor I have ever gotten.
I've recently received two collection notices from National Credit Audit Corporation for magazines that I did not renew. Someone needs to figure out how to stop this company!
