National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts Terrible store service.

On Saturday may 28,2022, I ordered 2 rear rotors for 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. I did that online and it said that I could pick them up on Monday memorial day. On memorial day u call at @930 and person at store (broad St, Lansdale, pa). Tells me that it will be about 2 1/2 he's til delivery. I call at 142pm and get put on hold and I wait 15 mins til I just hang up cause of waiting sooo long. I go to store at 210. See sign on door they close at 2. Which I had no idea. I see the worker they door and he sees me gestures they are closed. I wave him to come to the door cause I just need to pick up rotors which I had scheduled to do that day. He doesn't come. I go to side and see delivery guy there and he says he just dropped off rotors. I ask him to call the store that I just need to pick them up. store clerk doesn't answer. Delete very guy leaves. I knock on several doors hoping clerk would open up and if he could just give me the rotors which I paid for already and was on my way to go install them. I have always held napa in high regard, but now I don't. This is terrible professionalism. What if I was trying to tell him building was on fire or something? I am extremely mad right now. I am thinking of going on social media and writing bad remarks of this store. my email is [protected]@comcast.net. My phone number is [protected]. And my name is lou

Desired outcome: A response for starters

National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts I was refused a part that I called ahead of time about.

I needed an auto part called a blower motor connector on 03/25/2022. I visited an O'reillys Auto Parts on this day and they did not have in store location 34th Street and Quaker in Lubbock, Tx. I was told none of the O'reillys locations had the part only the main warehouse had it. It was about 7 miles out and I did not want to go that far so I called Auto Zone and none of their stores had the part either. I made one more call to Napa Auto Parts on 50th and Quaker Lubbock, TX and Mike answered and put me on hold to look it up he came back on the phone and confirmed he had a blower motor connector for a 03 GMC Yukon and said it was 54.99 I told him I was on my way to get it. I showed up at exactly 5 pm CST less than 10 min later. I walked in and a white man was sitting on a stool behind the counter he asked me can I help you and I said yes are you the person I just spoke with named Mike about the blower motor connector he said no, let me get him. He walks back out with an older white man and I said I am here to pick up the blower motor connector you looked up for me. He asked me again what vehicle, I said the 03 Gmc Yukon it was just a few minutes ago I called. He stared at the computer and the other man sat down on the stool. He just kept typing something and staring at the computer and then he said its gonna be a problem and I said what's the problem he said you told me a Sierra and I laughed and said no I didn't I told you a GMC Yukon and you repeated it to me and that part is for my vehicle that I've had 12 years so I wouldn't make that mistake. He sat there just staring at the computer not saying anything and acting as though he was looking it up still. I said Mike you found it in less than 3 min when I called why is it that its now been 10 min with you looking it up. He said that the computer was complicated and I said is it the computer or is it you and the other white man sat there in the chair not offering to help. Then I said I've been standing 10 min in here and I believe it's you and that when I walked in you didn't realize a black person was coming to pick up and now you are stalling so that I become impatient or frustrated and leave. The other white man groaned or made some sound in Mikes defense. I said Yes that's exactly what the problem is because you didn't even have to go to the back to get him you could have just looked it up but you didn't because you are discriminating and you don't want to sell me the part. Mike was still just staring at the computer now 15 min go by and a couple walks in and and they are helped right away and leave meanwhile, Mike is just staring at the computer rubbing his chin. Now another customer walks in, a white man and props on the stool and the unbusy white man starts helping him not bother to see what the confusion is with Mike. I said It's obvious that you don't want to sell me the part because I am black the other customers are not black and that's why you helped them quickly right. Then the unbusy white man yelled out "yea throw that out there" I said well obviously It's what it is. I go to my car to get my mobile phone came back in and Mike is still looking at the computer and the white customer is being helped. I place a call to the other Napa Auto parts location while looking at Mike staring at the computer. Stacy answered and said yes I have the blower motor connector over at my 50th and Quaker location. I said oh you have it at 50th and Quaker that's exactly what Mike told me too over the phone and I've been standing in here now about 17 min with him not wanting to be helpful or the other guy in here. Then the other guy yells out whilst he is helping his customer, I'm the manager that's who this guy is, I said oh he says that he's the manger and then Stacy says wait oh I thought you said a connector for the heater controls I actually don't have the connector for the blower motor. I said ok, I see you guys are discriminatory in who you will sell to and Stacy yells we aren't going to put up with that and I thought that statement was in my defense but it wasn't and he told me I could leave the store now and hung up the phone. I thought, wow they are in cahoots about discriminating, unbelievable. I took a pic of both of them I was in that store nearly 25 minutes and did not get the part I came for because of racial discrimination. This is unfair treatment and out right discriminatory. There is no reason that in 2022 you have those that will choose to practice unlawful discrimination on consumers and it must be stopped. Mike, Stacy at the 19th St location in Lubbock Texas and the guy that exclaimed he was the manager, which was even more harmful because he should have better training on diversity and inclusion and how to not open your company to liability.

Desired outcome: These guys are a liability to your company they should be terminated for the organized efforts to discriminate on a customer.

National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts Battery

On August 28, 2021, I was at Autozone to replace a battery for my 2004 Chevrolet Tracker. The Autozone employee noticed that it was a NAPA battery still under warranty. I called NAPA (they were right across the street) but it was out of stock and I was on my way to Phoenix, so I purchased the Autozone battery but kept the NAPA core to return to NAPA later. That core has a sticker on it of 09/20. I have the Autozone receipt showing a battery replacement for that vehicle on 08/30/21. It is pretty clear that I am not attempting to cheat a refund.

So I took the old battery with no receipt (mybad) to the small-town NAPA I had purchased it from. Seeing the NAPA battery with a receipt showing I had replaced it battery two days earlier, even knowing without doubt that the battery was still under warranty, they were only willing to refund me an amount of $90 which included leaving the core with them. Autozone would give me $22 for the core, so NAPA was essentially refunding me $68.00 for a ~$159.00 battery. They KNOW what they sold that battery for in 2020, my recollection is that it was for $159.00. Batteries don't go on sale! It could not have been purchased at a discount, and even IF it could have been, it was not purchased at a discount. They admitted they would have replaced this battery with a new battery at no charge without the receipt, yet were only willing to refund a cash amount $90 for that same battery sitting before them.

I told them I was going write a review over this outcome at which time they asked me to leave. I said okay, that will be included in my review. And it is.

Desired outcome: I wanted a full refund of the battery including taxes as I paid taxes, on the new battery, but without a receipt that would not be reasonable, so I would accept just a refund of the full price of that battery in November 2020.

National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts IAC

I brought an IAC that I had bought a year ago in the box with receipt. I had bought another one a year and another one two years. I just wanted to exchange one or both if they could. The manager said no because the parts were noted made in Mexico. I have no control where Napa buys their parts a year or two ago, all I can say is I bought them at that store. Both boxes have the same number of part# and in good condition. So you have to open the box and check from what country is made? Napa is making peoples lives harder to live on this planet. Please verify these parts came from Mexico for me and update your store owners, because this is not fair for customers. I work hard to earn $170.00. To just give it away to Napa. With its unfair decisions. Did you also know you have an f rating with business bureau?

Desired outcome: return my money, i returned both iac in their boxes and reciepts, under the 36

National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts Duplicolor Scratch Fix Paint

Napa Auto Parts in Saint George, UT sold me two defective paint applicators for touch up paint. Neither of them were a true match to the colors specified on the product. Both were worthless upon opening to discover they were either mislabeled or improperly mixed. I was told I couldn't exchange or return them. I spent over $40 on those two items and no effort was made to make it right. Even though I opened the product and trued it right there in the Napa Auto parking lot, they said there was nothing they could do.

Thank you & Mahalo

National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts Defective brake shoes

Recently I purchased a set of brakes shoes from the local napa and went home to install them. Now I may not be a certified mechanic but I know my way around a tool box pretty well. I have been wrenching on everything from chainsaws to heavy equipment for over 40 years.
Once installed I did a test drive (it should be known there was no problem with anything prior to this except to shoes were worn out) and now there is an excessive squealing noise.. I immediately returned to my shop and pulled the wheels off to see what was going on. 3 times I did this and could not see anything wrong so I went to the napa store and asked if they ever had any brake shoes come back defective. I was assured that they couldn't be defective but I insisted there was something wrong with them. One person asked if they worked and they did but squealed terribly, another told me to let the problem develope.
I go back home and uninstalled the brakes again, making 100% sure I don't see anything wrong, I lubricate all the required places and reinstall with all new hardware also adjusting them correctly.
No noise at this time... About a week later I am towing my boat down a mountain highway and I notice the pedal getting mooshy. All of a sudden I don't have any brakes but luckily was able to ride it out by getting in the ditch till I got stopped.
The end result was the shoes got so hot they are now distorted, the drums are ruined, the wheel cylinders are shot and even the backing plate is warped. I am sure the axle seals are shot and maybe bearings too.
I finally got my truck home by removing the brakes and capping the brake line. Driving very slow the 40 miles to get home.
It became very obvious that there was something wrong with these brake shoes and the caused extensive damage.
So far the best napa says they will do is replace the shoes.
It's about $400 to fix it now and that's with me doing it.
Not very happy!
I am omitting the location for another day to see if they resolve this, it has been 2 days now.
Btw.. I am a retired disabled logger/miner and a veteran of the usmc.

Desired outcome: I would like to have working brakes. It should have been just a simple brake job.

So far only partially resolved. NAPA or the store owner agreed to cover half of the repairs so far. It was pay for the other half or go home without out all the parts. I live 25 miles from the NAPA store.
Was told that was done as a courtesy because I am not a professional mechanic... I know more about it than most of the kids with certs do. 40+ years of turning wrenches... I'm not a rookie!
More to come...

I will know for sure Sat but I believe NAPA is completely taking care of this issue and I will be very pleased!

National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts Racial discrimination-brian store #990006533

Racial discrimination. Bought part 4512 sunday online w/home delivery, car charger. Delivered defective, so my sister can't go to work. Asked if there were anymore chargers: brian: "no". Can I exchange for the same unit? It's the only one we have. I tell brian well the point was to charge the battery today as it is needed today. Brian says: I can order you one tomm and it'll be in at 9. She has to be to work at 9am; I say brian this is no help and you have my money. Brians says, the best I can do is have it here tomm at 9. I say brian, "this is giving me a headache". Brian says "it's giving me a headache too". So I asked brian "why would you have a headache, you didn't just spend money and get a faulty product, so why would you have a headache about anything?" brian says: "you giving me a headache"; so I said, "the customer is giving you a headache after you sold the customer a defective product". I then asked brian, "are you being disrespectful because you hear i'm a black guy, brian" (called his name to put him on notice) he changed his tone once he new I retained his name. All three adults were floored and flabergasted at how rude he was. Never said he wasn't disrespectful because of who he heard I was. The unit was wrapped like it was a defective return that they sold to the black guy cause we not suppose to know any better. Systemic racism is real. It's everywhere. I'm convinced they knew this product did not work! As it was a return! He said they only order 1 at a time, for real?
Date of incident:02/28/2021
12:30-1:00 pm

Desired outcome: if he was a blatantly rude black guy to a white person w/o regard, probation? but more like fired

sold me a defective battery charger, no options i tell clerk this is a headache for a simple car charger he tells me, "you give me a headache" i ask did you disrespect me and the other 3 adults in the room at time of call because you hear i'm, 'black' never denied it. systemic racism is real. i believe you should be sent back to your country every time a racist head is raised. maybe you'll learn that way. you have to remember most lynching's had 10, 000 whites in attendance on average(they only show us close-ups). lynching's used to look like jan 6 2021 at the capitol(riot) as they violently took over sheriff stations to drag the negroes out to the lynching branch. same pictures of the capitol riot could be for the over running of sheriff's offices to kill negroes, without being challenged. they all have countries they can go back to, i guess it's more fun to oppress negroes in this country, then to live peacefully in your own. there is no tolerance for 'black' ppl...but we are to tolerate endlessly for white people. things are going to change around here.

National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts core return

This is a deal with NAPA auto parts . I own a semi and drive all over MT, ID and WY . There are times I buy parts where ever I am at if I need them at the time. I did this not long ago. Bought some parts at a NAPA store out on the road. Changed the parts and fixed my truck the next day. 3-4 days later got back home. There was a core charge on the parts I bought so when I got home I took the core and receipt to the NAPA store in my home town. Asked to return the used parts for the core charge. Was told I had to return the parts to the store I bought them from otherwise I would have to pay a return fee to mail the core back. Yet when I got the parts I was told I could return them anywhere at a NAPA store for no charge. So in short. Now I have to pack used parts around in my semi in high hopes to make it back to the NAPA store I got them from to get my core charge back.

National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts Rude customer service

Today I was treated like a 3rd class citizen from the NAPA counter sales agent.
I went in to NAPA to return and repurchase an item which I bought 4 days ago and which did not work. The gentleman did not greet me just took the item and "tested" it and shouts back at me saying it works thereby implying that I am lying. I explained that I ran the item for 3 days and although the lights were working the item did actually not work.
He then gets a replacement item does the required paperwork and tells me " the warranty is done you can go" with a rude and brusque attitude. He was so rude in his mannerisms I had to ask him if he was ok and if there was a problem. His reply again was "we are done here you can go".
Since I needed to know more about the warranty I did not leave, he did help me but I wish I had not dealt with Sean. He has no understanding of customer care. I have a witness to the incident who can verify this. Sorry NAPA, you are losing customers.

National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts Called me Taliban on Veteran's Day

I went to the Napa Main Store today (VETERAN'S DAY) at N 501 Freya in Spokane, WA. I asked if the customer rep if they had a military discount. The guy at the counter says, "yes we do, but what country." I said "US". Then the guy says "Oh good, cuz we don't give Taliban a discount." I was highly offended, but smiled, took my part, and left. Being half Filipino and of darker complexion in a city of 98%+ caucasion, this "joke/comment" was completely inappropriate and clearly would not have been said to any other "white" person. The purchase was made at 13:15 on 11 Nov 2012. My receipt says Employee: 21, Stu. Sales Rep: 18, Nobody. Accounting Day: 11.

Dare I say - If you choose a Dentist with a fictitious business name, such as "Dental Office and Optical Magic", you may be asking for trouble in the long run. Also worth mentioning... Karla and her husband are both graduates of the University of Baja California, a non-accredited, Mexican Public University. You folks really need to do a little more research on your Medical Practitioners before trapping into the chair! Then again, Obama-care will soon be upon us - so we'll all be subjected to similar treatment under his mideaval version of Socialist medicine.

My wife has a 2000 Jeep Grand Chorake with 100K miles on it. At that point it needed a new water pump. My mechanic asked me if i had a problem with a foreign made (China) NAPA water pump|. We opted for the "lifetime warranty" water pump!. We are now a 120K miles and my "lifetime waterpump" is leaking/. It cost me close to $200 in labor, hoses, t-stat and coolant.. Oh yes, I got a new FREE water pump!. I guess lifetime in China means less than in other countries!.

It's the same with brake parts, it appears that all NAPA brake parts come from China, .

Pissed in Tampa !

National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts Leaking seal

Bought DOT 4 32oz bottles. Came home the plastic bag was wet. Unscrewed top and inverted bottle, fluid dripping out. Gently squeeze bottle fluid squirtted out. Being brake fluid, read about not supposed to be exposed to air so brought back next day to exchange. The manager won't do it accusing me squeezing the bottle and caused the leak. Ended up calling the police. Police came, the manager mumbled, and exchanged two bottles for me. Came home, the two bottles leaking again! Obviously the bottles are not sealed good. Altogether 4 bottles, they all leak. Try it yourself, don't deal with NAPA.

I recently bought a 32 oz bottle of NAPA brand DOT 4 brake fluid as well as all 4 brake rotors for my car for an upcoming brake job. There were 2 bottle on the shelf, neither of which was leaking (I check these things in the store) so I grab one, pay for my stuff and leave. I put the brake fluid on the seat after making sure the cap was tight (just in case it leaked) and upon making my first left the bottle rolls across the seat and slams into the passenger door and falls into the space between the seat and door panel. I get home, it's not leaking. I take the cap off and gently squeeze the bottle and the little aluminum seal pops up showing it's still sealed. All in all I'm very happy with the quality of NAPA brake bottle sealing and would definitely recommend this brake fluid to anyone.

National Automotive Parts Association / NAPA Auto Parts Defective Parts, Horrendous Customer Service

When my alternator went bad last year, we went to Napa to get a replacement. We purchased it, took it home, put it in the car... only to discover they gave us a defective alternator that didn't work. We were able to drive the car just long enough to get to Napa and have them test it and verify that it was defective and couldn't run the car. They traded it out for a different one... And we went through this entire processes ANOTHER time before the third alternator they gave us finally worked.

Less than a year later, that third alternator they gave us goes bad. We drove the car to Napa today, and had them test it, and they verified that it was defective and needed replacing. Since I have a three year warranty, they told us they would replace it since they had the parts in stock if we brought them the core. So my boyfriend takes the car home, pulls the alternator out, and gets a ride to Napa to exchange the alternator. Here's where the real fun starts.

Jason, the employee at Napa who had tested the car and told them they had the part, says they don't actually have the part... after we've already taken the alternator out and brought it in. He tells us that we either have to wait until Tuesday to get a replacement, or drive out to Lynden ourselves.

Since my boyfriend was the one who took the part in, I gave them a call to see what could be done. I explained that it wasn't this one time that I'd had a bad alternator - that this would be the THIRD bad alternator that Napa has given us. He told me, and I quote, "Well, I guess you just have bad luck." and hung up on me, refusing to help out in any way.

I will never go to Napa again after this three year warranty is up. I would rather drive somewhere else that's farther away where customers are actually valued. I seriously urge anyone reading this to go somewhere else, unless you want to be given defective parts that aren't tested before you put them in your car, and unless you want the rudest and most unhelpful employee who hangs up on customers to help you. If I didn't have someone who was able to replace the alternator free of charge, I would be out HUNDREDS of dollars due to Napa's defective parts.

Walmart has better customer service than this awful store.

wow. My stories the same! Bought an alternator 2 months ago. Paid $200 to have it installed. Last weekend the alternator stops working while on the NYS thruway. Had to get towed 50 miles to the tune of $300. now I get the pleasure of paying $200 again to have a new one installed! ANd Napa has been promising the part for 2 days...while my car sits at the mechanics! Unbelievable!

I think I am on the same trajectory, but without a boyfriend who can help me. We paid the local garage to replace the alternator before my daughter took the car 700 km away to Williams Lake BC. Last night she called me from the car, stopped in the dark, half way up a steep hill, and the car won't start. After an evening of towing it back to Williams Lake the garage there says the alternator is defective! Guess what, I need to pay them to replace it!

...I purchased an alternator also for my GMC Yukon, and they guaranteed that it was new. It was defective.
This also happened with several parts for my AUDI.
I do not mind spending the cash, it is my time that I value more.
I will not go back.
