myxtertones.com / unauthorized charges to cell phone

1 United States Review updated:

The website said that the ringtones were 100% free and to enter your cellphone number and you would recieve a pin number to download to cell. I did this and kept getting texts from this company stating I would be charges 9.99 a month for the service and then it said they charged me for 15 polys + 5 wallpapers...I am outraged and want these charges taken off immediatly!!! I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THIS COMPANY TO DO THIS

my buddy told me about the free ringtone site as well, I went to it on my phone, and there was a ringtone of the day on the main page, I clicked it and downloaded it with no problem, but as soon as I clicked on search it wanted me to sign up. I read the agreement terms and condition, because I did not trust the advertised free that they said, been there before with putting my number into a box for something free and got charged $9.99, heck my dad got caught in one too and got charged $29, the terms and conditions say free till half way through it then it talks about charges, and that if you agree you take all responsibility for all charges if you approved them or not. That is where I said nope, this is a scam, they are playing with words. They all play with words, you should never enter your number into anything that promises a service, nothing in life is 100% free is what I found..and yes I found out the hard way like you!

the fix is to text it back with the word stop, or cancel. Inform your service provider, or change your number if none of that works.
