MyLife spammer

What a scam! I thought I was being looked up by old highschool/college people and signed up to see who as they promise for FREE. Didn't show me a thing unless I wanted to pay and next thing I know my name has been attached to an email to all of my email contacts and sent out saying I wanted them to join. I never authorized this or imported my contacts. Classic case of phishing. Don't even OPEN an email from MyLife. They should be prosecuted for invasion of privacy and spamming!

I am an attorney researching the business practices of WWW.REUNION.COM and WWW.MYLIFE.COM.
I am interested in their practices as it relates to the SCRAPING OF EMAIL ADDRESS BOOKS.

Here's a few questions for all:

1) were you enticed to visit reunion.com after an email came to you, appearing like it was from a friend, inviting you to join reunion.com?

2) do you feel the terms of service and privacy policy noted on the site explained what exactly reunion.com was going to do to your email address book?

3) Were your email address contacts emailed an invitation to join reunion.com after receiving an invitation which claimed you sent them the invite?

4) was your email address book hijacked?

So as to support my interest and qualify my identity, I would refer you to a few of my recent cases I filed this past year, so that you can confirm that I do represent individuals in internet privacy matters. Google my recent cases:

lane v facebook,

valentine v nebuad

simon v adzilla

Once you locate these cases, review the atorneys noted, and then confirm I have the same email as the attorney noted on the lawsuit:

"Attorney Joseph H Malley

Anyone with information, please contact me in confidence at: malleylaw@gmail.com

MyLife unauthorized credit card charges

My wife signed up for mylife.com 4 months ago. When told there was a recurring monthly charge of 19.95 and NOT a one-time charge, as she was led to believe, she immediately cancelled. The woman was extremely rude, but did say that she has cancelled my wife's account. Guess what? We got 4 more charges from saveace, before I caught it. Lesson learned. Read each months bank statements very carefully. My credit card company is changing my account number, because they consider that account number has been compromised. NEVER do business with mylife.com, or if you do, DO NOT give them any of your personal information.

I would gladly join you in beating them up and the money out of them..I am a victim of these too and - mind you: I am from overseas.. I got FBI involved, law enforcement takes action too if anything else comes up with these frauds that I have never signed up at, heck I didnt even know about them or them, I called them and gave them an earfull(mylife) complained to my CC institute and they have it under investigation at their fraud dept for credit card fraud. It would be interesting to know where they got any sign up infos since I NEVER give out my true identity and personal info like my true name, address or phone or anything else, i am always online anonymus or with an alias ID, name and addy and phone is always 0000 stuff like that, so Iwould love to know what sign up ifos they have of me hmm?

My wife did the same thing: signed up for MyLife.com on a "sale" and probably never read the supposed agreement MyLife.com states you had to read when creating an account. This agreement states you agree to also sign up for SavingsAce, whatever that is, at $19.95 a month. We cancelled both memberships by calling the SavingsAce number listed here on this web site, and the MyLife.com number listed on theirs.

Too bad these companies exist virtually because if they had a storefront, someone would be getting a serious beating.

MyLife not able to cancel as instructed

I signed up for service and after finding out more about it by browseing which can't be done until after signing up I then realized it was not something I was interested in after all but when I followed their directions to cance which is a two step process 1) you must ask- and agree to no refund and an immediate loss of privledges and so even though I paid for a month in advance I agreed to the terms and then as they further instructed to finalize the cancelation it would be necessary to follow - Step 2) by calling the number they give at the bottom of the page a number that I could not ever get through on as the number they gave is continually busy. I am concerned because I gave them my visa number later I read that other people have had a lot of problems with the outfit. I writing because I need to cancel this but don't know how. Can you help?

Yep, I had a heck of a time getting out of reunion but I did thanks mto TrustE. I don't think TrustE
is with them anymore so they figure they can do what they want. When I searched online,
my name popped up on MyLife and I NEVER rejoined them though they claim I did! Beware
of classmates.com and namesdatabase.com as they will do that too!

This comment is for the guy who is concerned because he gave MyLife his Visa numbers.

I gave my Visa numbers to another company PhoneAgentSource and realized it was a scam shortly after finding out there was no report. I have detailed the process I went through to cancel on the PhoneAgentSource complaints board, but that is a seperate company from MyLife.

What I did before cancelling PhoneAgentSource (as there is a two-day waiting requirement) is I PHONED VISA AND CANCELLED MY VISA and the company sent me out a new credit card. My brother pointed out that, that way you can now sleep at night. View it as a learning experience, I am more wary now of any of these "free" Internet sites. Visa was very understanding and said of the $1 fee I was charged that the company is "testing the waters."

Theiving Americans. My wife signed up in the UK to find a lost friend and they still take money from us. In the UK we'd be right on their ### to stop such fraud, but you yanks seem to encourage such underhanded robbery. If there wasn't 3, 000 miles distance between our countries I'd visit mylife's offices and kick their scummy ###.

MyLife distribution of peoples credit card information to fraudulent websites

My life.com is connected to SAVEACE and also known as reunion.com. I've being recieving numerous payment on my debit card. I believe they distribute your account number to all this fraudulent company which then start making unauthorised billing.

I recieved two times billing of 4.95. i called my life and was told it was a non-refundable fee for accessing mylife.com members contacts. This was after i paid a $60 dollar one year subscription fee in june 2009 for that same purpose.

I was then billed 19.95 today july 11 2009 from saveace. Which i have no clue who they are. I called mylife.com on [protected] asking them if they knew something about the billing because i know for a fact that i never used the card for any online billing accept for mylife.com bill. mylife.com denied giving savingace my acct information but accepted giving them my email address. I called savingAce on [protected] giving them the account info i used to sign up for mylife.com and i spoke to a representative who told me that mylife.com gave them all my log on details including my credit card number.

which draws a conclusion that mylife.com sells your private information to other fraudulent websites.

Hey, I was charged 19.25 twice this month of July when they told me they canceled my account and gave me 55 dollars back... do you recall when signing up for MyLife that they asked for the BANK account number as well as the debit card number? or was it just the number on the card?

I'm asking because I read online that a way to stop them is canceling the card and getting a new one.

July 13th 2009- Nearly had the same experience. Signed up for MYlife.com on April 26th 2009 and did not notice charges from two other companies called Savings Ace and Home Shopping Mall
both have been charging my account $19.95 since April 26 2009 at the same time I signed up for MYlife.com
It's a total scam, I did not sign up for those other companies and I had to call them directly and they said they would cut a check and send me the $120.00 they took out of my account. Buyers Beware- Jeffrey Tinsley is the CEO of MyLife.com and is on FACEBOOK- send him a message about how his company lacks complete integrity and they don't care about their customers

MyLife email theft

I received an email inviting me to join and started the process but didn't complete it. I then decided to go on and see what it was all about and imagine my surprise in finding my contact list on their site. I never imported my email list for them to bug people so this is theft. And you can't email them to complain only write and call. So delete any email from mylife.com and definitely add to spam list.

MyLife misused info

I was made aware that my email address was stolen from a friend's address book by someone hacking into her computer info base. We became aware of this when we began receiving email from MyLife.com and confirming with our friends that they had never submitted our info to MyLife.com. I want to make sure that this company is held accountable for its actions. I don't know what other info they have of mine that they don't have a right to!

This site has no right pulling pictures and blog information and posting it when the person hasn't even been to mylife.com. I didn't sign up for this site, yet a picture of myself and blog information that I deleted from some other site because I realized I made a mistake posting it, is on here without my consent. I just got off the phone with their removal department and this should be removed in 7 days. Everyone who has ever had a social networking page and has since deleted it, you may surprised and pissed off that your "deleted" information is on here whether you like it or not. You can have it removed, but this is completely wrong posting information when you do not want it viewed by the public. Maybe a day in court will stop this from happening?

MyLife put in information without my permission

I was rearching a business meeting for next week and googled the person i was meeting with. The first link was a mylife.com that had pictures with it. I opened it and logged on (which I thought was for security) the login required name email age and zip code. I put that in but when it asked for $5 I got out of it. When returning to this site from my computer history, my profile which I did not create (only a login) had a comment on it that I was looking for men within a 20 mile radius. I DID NOT PUT THIS IN A PROFILE AND AM FURIOUS THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN WITHOUT PERMISSION. I AM CALLING THE BETTER BUSINESS B. I AM ALSO CONTACTING A LAWYER.

I am upset about the same thing - lists my address and age wrong and I never signed up. I know the company is in California and is in violation of that state's law:

3344. (a) Any person who knowingly uses another's name, voice,
signature, photograph, or likeness, in any manner, on or in products,
merchandise, or goods, or for purposes of advertising or selling, or
soliciting purchases of, products, merchandise, goods or services,
without such person's prior consent, or, in the case of a minor, the
prior consent of his parent or legal guardian, shall be liable for
any damages sustained by the person or persons injured as a result
thereof. In addition, in any action brought under this section, the
person who violated the section shall be liable to the injured party
or parties in an amount equal to the greater of seven hundred fifty
dollars ($750) or the actual damages suffered by him or her as a
result of the unauthorized use, and any profits from the unauthorized
use that are attributable to the use and are not taken into account
in computing the actual damages. In establishing such profits, the
injured party or parties are required to present proof only of the
gross revenue attributable to such use, and the person who violated
this section is required to prove his or her deductible expenses.
Punitive damages may also be awarded to the injured party or parties.
The prevailing party in any action under this section shall also be
entitled to attorney's fees and costs.

It is pretty clear they just use people's names to get money out of them or others. A combination of extortion or a violation of the above law.

Just like everyone else apparently, I signed up for 3 months clicked appropriate buttons, and they attempted to change me $131 + $41. I bounced a check because I was only expected what their website indicated, $39 for 3 months. I develop websites and can confirm MyLife.com is intentionally deceptive with the intent to defraud people online and do so with plausible deniability.

We called the company to receive refund and they refunded back half of what they stole from me. They verbally refused a full refund. However my credit card is not showing the refund, they indicate it takes 7 days. We'll see. Either way it is time for all of us victims to file legal action and contact the States this online fraud has occurred.

I saw a commercial on TV for a free search, for who's searching for you. I went to the website and it was suppose to be free 7 day trial until you give them your information, and then they took out $191.40 and $155.40 from my account. I called them 2 minutes later and they would NOT refund my money and had already took it out of my account! After my complaining, they finally said they would refund my money all except $18.96 and cancel my account. I basically got nothing for my money and I'm NOT sure they will refund my money back into my account. They said it will take up to 10 days for the refund! SHUT THIS SCAM DOWN, PLEASE!

I went to the site and purchased a one month membership for $10.95. I received an email that said that I had purchased a premium membership for $95.40. I called their customer service number and was told that the browser that I was using (Internet Explorer) had reloaded the page and changed my box checked (one month membership) to the premium membership. Can you believe that? They said that they would refund $84.00 back to my account. I find it difficult to believe someone after being so blatantly lied to. I called my bank and now I am waiting. I just want to warn other people so that this may not happen to someone else. It appears to me that this company is engaging in shady and fraudulent practices.

MyLife unauthorized charges

In February 2009, I signed up with MyLife.Com for $60 in hopes of finding old classmates. This site turned out to be a waste of good money. Then, in March of 2009 an amount of $19.95 was charged to my bank card. I had been traveling and thought that I must have lost track of a receipt.

BUT - in April a charge for the same amount of $19.95 was charged to my bank card.

I tried calling the number listed next to the charge with the name of SavingsAce. The number was totally automated and wanted my card number to get any kind of response. But the automation kept repeating the numbers back to me out of order, so I just hung up after several tries.

I immediately called my bank and went in to sign dispute papers. We canceled my card. I found this Web Site and see that I am not the only person with the very same problem.

Let's get these guys and hopefully even our $60 from MyLife.

I changed internet providers and lost my email addresses. I did a search to see if I could find it and Email Finders popped up. For 1.95 for 1 email address I of course tried to go for it. After giving my payment information I was given other options of things to purchase and I denied all of them. At the point when I was told to hit next for my requested e-mail address I was all of a sudden sent to My Life.com (formerly Reunion.com) I immediately dropped out of the web site as at that moment realizing I'd been scammed into something, I didn't want to begin with.

I then received an e-mail confirmation from e-mail finders.com thanking me for joining and advising me they would be taking $23.40 out of my account and that I was a member for 1 year. I was furious and reported them to the Internet Crime Unit, Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office. I consider myself pretty internet savy but this was real slick and like a first class fool I fell for it. Please beware of these websites.

They have taken money out of my account without my authorization, that is stealing right?
Then a year later after i had already contacted the company they charged me again, i wonder if they thaught i wouldn't notice...
They use spyware to infiltrate peoples private information, now they have comercials on the TV, they are lawbreakers and are using ill gotten gains to advertise now. This organization needs to be investigated. My biggest concern is that there are probably many customers of theirs that are unaware they are recieving anual charges from mylife.com, because they don't need your authorization once they have your info.

It seems that this company called "Shopping Essentials" was able to obtain my debit card number when I signed up for Mylife.com - There are a number of stories associated with mylife giving out information. This company "Shopping Essentials" has been accessing my checking account since January for 29.95 oer month. I have requested that the money be refunded by Shopping Essentials. After looking into this, I see that this has been occuring to many people through companies with similiar names. I did file a report for with the BBB locally in IL, but the company appears to have so many different names and addresses that it may be hard to locate them. So thanks for sharing your stories! I will wait and see if the BBB does anything if not, then I will go to the state's DA and file complaints.

"Attorney Joseph H Malley
malleylaw@gmail.com"

Anyone with information, please contact me in confidence at: malleylaw@gmail.com

thanks

What happened to Raul has happened to me. I've since had to cancel my credit card in order to stop any further theft by Mylife.com. Just as well for those criminals that I live around the other side of the world.

Thanks for mentioning canceling your card. I will do that Monday.
They have cancellation of account info, but it's a phone number and one gets put on hold.
Maybe it was because of the online story i read last week and many people got the message?

MyLife charged by affiliated company savingsace

This site is a total scam. Read all the small print when you are accepting the terms and conditions. Mylife.com markets their site for $5/mo for a year subscription however when signing up they charge the full $60 as a one time fee. On top of this they enroll you in an affiliate company that charges an additional $19.95. I have tried to cancel this subscription and get a refund and both companies have been very evasive and non-cooperative. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!

I wanted to sign up for one month access for a 24.95, and then was charged an additional $155 for additional services I didn't want or authorize. It is intentionally misleading to get credit card information then charge beyond the original service

I used their website to look up a person's phone number. They stated that it would be a one time 99 cents charge, no recurring charges.

Next day I see a charge of $95.40 from MyLife.

Definitely a SCAM
