Mt. Dragon Pony Acres review: horse breeder 1

On April 4, 2018 Ms. Rawls called me she had a horse she could sell me. She directed me to her website, so I could look at her registration papers, photos of horse, and video. None of this footage was current. I asked her for a current photo, she declined citing poor weather. I had done business with Ms. Rawls years ago and had no reason to distrust her. Big mistake. She provided info. of former owner of, Black Silk Rose, I called Mr. John Hollowell, of Walla Walla, WA. Upon his recommendation and what I had seen of mare, I decided to buy her. At this time Mr. Hollowell, did not reveal he was still the legal owner of this horse. I foolishly, sent Ms. Rawls $4000.00 for the mare. Below is the sequence of events that has been a nightmare of lies, fraud and a lovely mare that was neglected, starved. I continued to ask for current photos which Ms. Rawls declined to provide.
Purchased mare, make arrangements to have her transported from OR to AZ where I live.
2.Hired Ms. Rawl's vet, Dr. Schaefer, Double Arrow Vet Clinic, to do inspection/transport papers. At this time I asked him to take specific photos of mare. What the photos revealed was shocking. Dr. Schaefer report made reference to mare's hooves, she could not travel with her hooves in the condition they were in and her teeth. He excused her neglect by saying, "he could go all over the county and see horses in her same condition." He deemed her sound." I have asked him for his definition of sound, he has declined to answer. Clearly, he had a conflict of interest and turned a blind eye to this horses condition for the sake of his wallet. Photos do not lie.
My bank tried to stop payment, they were unsuccessful. I call Yavapai sheriff to file complaint, Ms. Rawls tell officer she has already spent the money. I cancel the hauler to pick up mare.
At this time we did not have a signed contract with Ms. Rawls. She now starts threatening to starts charging us for board of mare. Under duress, we sign her contract. Otherwise, she claims to keep the mare and our money.
The mare get to AZ. I take her immediately to our vet. The mare was infested with Strongyle worms, she has a fungal infection o a back leg and is about 200 pounds underweight. We had to quarantine her, so she does not infect our other horses.
I continue to ask for registration papers with no response. I contact Arabian Horse Registry, they an not help without the cooperation of former owner.
In July 2018, Mr. Hollowell calls to let me know he is the legal owner of Rose! He will not release papers because Ms. Rawls owed him for the mare for 2 years. He tell me to go after her. He also tells me she was not his agent. He gets his money, I get the papers. She understand she has committed Interstate Fraud, a felony, by selling a horse she did not own, that what motivated her to pay him.
8.End of August he get his money however, she still owes him money for a puppy he sold her so he has decided not to give me the papers. He sends the papers to Ms. Rawls.
Ms. Rawls now says, she will not give us the registration papers unless, we sign an agreement to not go after her further. The papers were a part of the transaction. She verbally told us and the hauler, Keith Casey, she would send the papers.

I am asking for the registrations papers. If Ms. Rawls can not or will not release the papers to us, I am asking for a refund of $2000.00. This is a grade mare without papers.
Ms. Rawls also has a vacation destination rental business. I caution everyone doing business with her. Do not trust her word and be certain there are provisions, in any of her contracts that also protect you. The contract we were forced to sign makes her totally unaccountable for what she sells.
