Our vacation at the Riu Vallarta was spoiled by these incidents:
#1
The occupants in the room across from us were fighting because we believe someone was locked out of the room Consequently there was a lot of very loud banging and crashing going on, on our door (once) and their door (many times) It appeared that someone was very angry and sounded drunk so much so that we were afraid that it was going to escalate into something really serious. We considered locking ourselves in the bathroom at one point. We called security but as far as we know none came or even bothered to knock on our door to check to see if we were okay or even phone for 2 days! When we told the girl at the reception desk she told us that it was probably the ice crushing machine that we heard! In other words this matter was NOT taken seriously and certainly not to our satisfaction.

Your rules state that you are not allowed to save lounge chairs by the pool and yet every morning people put towels on the chairs and then go off for hours and expect that they will be available on their return. We had been watching 2 chairs and when none came after almost 2 hours we removed their towels with the approval of a security guard and sat down. When they finally came they demanded "their chairs" and started yelling at us. They called security over and he called in the public relations person. She informed them of the rules, but they continued to stare at us, blew smoke at us (their other chairs were right beside us) swore at us and took pictures of us. This attracted quite an audience when was totally embarrassing for us considering that we had done nothing wrong. On top of this the pool security guard denied giving us permission!

Suggestions:
Do not pour drinks to people who appear inebriated.
Enforce the pool rules.
Read the riot act to your security department.
Provide more bathroom facilities.
It was quite plain to us that people in the swim-up pool area do not leave to go to the washrooms as they are too far away and too few of them, therefore the pool becomes a public toilet after awhile. One day it was so hot that I don't think the filter was working as there was no water coming out of either fountain.
Add another pool as 2 pools are not adequate for the number of people staying at this resort.
Staff are literally running to keep up with the demand for food at the buffets making it very hard to keep it clean Add another restaurant!
It felt like we were in a camp where everyone was starving, very noisy and not a bit relaxing at all.
We asked for compensation for the way we were treated, so when she asked what we would like we told her that we would like a ride into Puerto Vallarta she said no we couldn't have that! We could only have late checkout or a bottle of champagne ( one of us doesn't drink)

I hope that you will take my suggestions seriously as I have read the reviews and know that a lot of other people feel the same way

I sincerely hope that you will make the changes necessary to make this resort a more pleasant place to vacation.

Riu Vallarta resorts was a big disappointment. Only two outside washrooms . With that many people drinking and so many kids at the pools should be more . Security guard was not very good I am glad that nothing really bad happened. He could t even sort out a pool chair incident that happened that happened to us.
