Mr Price Group / MRP illegal binding to contract

My mother started a contract for me to receive 1GB data monthly, from mid-2017. Earlier this month, I got a new phone and wanted to port my number. In order to do this, I have to have a prepaid SIM, so we decided to cancel the Mr Price data contract.

1. My mother called Mr Price mobile to this and they told her that she could not cancel the contract under any circumstances. (Pretty sure it's illegal because 1. They did not communicate this to her when she initiated the contract. 2. Most of these types of contracts are able to be cancelled with a penalty)
2. My mother again went to another Mr Price store (Bright Water Commons)and explained that she was not bound to continue with the contract and was more than willing to pay any penalty fee necessary.
3. The call centre consultant then agreed to cancel the contract and said it would take effect within 48 hours, after which I would receive an SMS confirming this (as the contract was taken out for my number).
4. Number 3 took place on Tuesday, 20 March 2018. Neither my mother nor I have received any communication from Mr Price Mobile.
5. On Sunday, 25 March 2018, we had to go to yet another Mr Price Store(Sandton City) to request an explanation. This time the consultation said he would call me on Monday, 26 March 2018 between 08:00-17:00. I kept my phone on me and on loud the entire day and have received no communication from them.
6. Mr Price claims to have these calls recorded so all the above can be verified. The store consultants at the above-mentioned stores can also attest to the above complaints. I am appalled at this entity's lack of service and at what seems like a ploy to not release us from the contract.

I got a contract frm Mrp mobile when the phone was delivered to me it was not working properly it was freezing on the welcome page I have to take the battery out and least 6 or 7 times before it turns on and now I can't even update date and time because when it's on it always give me error message app keeps stopping it's just a nite are to think I didn't even come to you, you called me a presented a good deal to me anyway I got it on Friday I opened it on Saturday and Monday I called your customer care and was told by your consultant with attitude that if I want to cancel I must pay cancellation fee because I've already opened the package how will I have known the phone is not working without opening it and 2nd I was told by the sales consultant I have 7 days cooling of period, I have been complaining from the 3rd day and being ignored today is the 7th day I even wrote a review on hellopeter to date I'm still waiting for you initially I didn't want to cancel but if this is a way you treat your customers pls fetch your scrap phone cancel my contract and forget about me, I don't know is is because I'm black so my complain is not a priority you think I don't know my rights and im ignorant, I await your response

Mr Price Group / MRP bad customer service

This email is with regards to the terrible, despicable and appalling service that I received at your branch in Nelpruit at the Promenade branch in the CBD.

I am fuming as a type this email from my embarrassing encounter with one of your staff members who not only showed me how much the company does not value me as a paying customer but also yelled at me infront of other customers and then chose to walk away from me after I had asked him for something as simple as clarity after paying my Mr Price clothing account.

The teller in question is a gentleman by the name of Simphiwe Khoza. I do not understand why a company as reputable and prestigious as Mr Price still has employees who represent it in such a terrible manner to this day, and I can confidently say upon fully settling my account balance I shall be closing my clothing account with Mr Price after the way I was treated by the teller as I never ever in my life wish to go through what I went through at your branch today.

To take you through the entire series of events, I walked into the shop to pay my account and saw Mr Price now sells cellphones, which promted me to enquire at the til about how the contract process works before making the payment into my account. The teller that was assisting me then directed me to Mr Simphiwe Khoza who was simply standing on the far end of the til doing absolutely nothing. At first he seemed like he was willing to walk to where we were standing until the teller who was assisting me asked for the second time and he eventually came with zero enthusiasm or the usual smile I get everytime I go to a Mr Price shop.

When he eventually arrived, the teller simply looked at the screen on the table that the tellers use and without even taking a single glance at me he simply said I will not get a cellphone now or ever then walked off, no explanation whatsoever. Puzzled and feeling small, I simply decided to forget about the cellphone and proceeded to pay my account as supposed with the other gentleman who had been assisting me.

Upon being handed my receipt, I was confused as the balance at the beginning and the balance after the payment I made looked exactly the same as the balance after the payment was made, so I went back to the teller who sent me back to Simphiwe who seemed even grumpier this time. I asked for clarity to which he gave me no straight answer except assumptions of what could have happened in an extremely condescending tone. The man was obviously dismissive and kept raising his voice at me while claiming I am attacking him while I repeatedly said to him I just needed clarity. This caused the entire shop to be at a standstill with other shoppers staring at us and the scene the store teller was causing, going back and forth with me when all I ever needed from him was a little clarity.

At some point I remember explaining for probably the 4th time what I was failing to understand to Mr Khoza and feeling extremely frustrated by his dismissive attitude towards me, I remember stating to him that this query was not rocket science to which he ridiculed me by saying "All I heard from you was the word Rocket Science which I don't even understand" with a smirk on his face, nothing about my query, even after I had asked if he could not call head office from the store he rubbed me off by telling me to call them myself. This back and forth went on until I requested to see the branch manager which is when Mr Khoza clicked his tongue at me, showing complete disgust (remember all the other shoppers were standing in the queue watching on in disbelief as this man continued to humiliate me, and again all I asked from him was clarity). I even have a voice recording of the interaction, I began recording once the conversation began to take a left turn.

A lady who had been watching the entire thing from a distance came forward and informed me the manager was not in the branch and said that she was standing in for him. She saw what had transpired so I simply stated I would be filing a formal complaint against the specific branch.

She then began apologizing on her colleague and branch's behalf, this is when the rest of the tellers also started apologizing to me while Mr Khoza stood not so far from us, watching on with the same arrogant smirk he'd been spotting throughout his entire interraction with me.

I still informed all of them I would send my complaint to their head office either way, which is when the lady who had been standing in for the manager came up to me and continuously begged me to go to the office with so we could privately talk and get Mr Khoza to apologize to me for his unbecoming behaviour because reporting him would mean a lot of trouble for him. All this, still no remorse from the man who caused all this commotion. He stood there still looking on, and looking completely unbothered might I add.

I cannot help but wonder how many times people close their accounts with the company over tellers such as Mr Khoza on a daily, also I found myself questioning how much emphasis Mr Price places on the importance of a decent client service experience for all their customers despite who or what they might be.

Hopefully the necessary disciplinary measures shall be taken to ensure Mr Khoza never puts anyone else through what he put me through, and as for me I would never ever want to be assisted by this gentleman in future until my account is fully settled and I never have to visit a Mr Price shop again.

Hoping my complaint will be dealt with accordingly.

I went to mrp apparel at forest hill mall to buy some clothes, scarf was part of my shopping, they could not find the code of the scarf I had to wait plus minus 40 minutes for them to get the code, But No the never get the code I even ask the management was on duetie but he didn't take me serious and he did not help. He said to me leave your number and will call u, that's wat I did I left my contact but no call nothing. It was on the 27/03/18, I feel very bad because its not my fault that their items has no codes on and I needed that scarf to wear on Friday. I had to go to buy at other stores.

Mr Price Group / MRP bad customer care/service

I was in the shop browsing through the underwear section and the packet of underwear got stuck and the whole lot of them fell. I was not assisted by an employee, instead i was given a " you must pick it up yourself" look. I was upset and walked to the counter to pay and saw 2 employees fixing each other's hair and taking selfies. This is very inappropriate.

Mr Price Group / MRP maltreatment and harassment in the store at brits - murray avenue

It was on the faithful human rights day, 21 March around 11h00 am when I was doing shopping at the store. Some guy dressed in a Mr Price t- shirt came to me and asked, I quote" what are the clothes doing"? I could not understand the question so I thought he was referring to the clothes in the basket that I was having so I gave him the basket to check, he did not check but instead ordered some lady to take me to the dressing room to check me but the lady called the security lady instead. I was taken to the dressing room, had my dress unzipped and left with a bra and a corset. After she satisfied herself that I had nothing in me, she zipped back my dress and we went back into the store where I thought apologies are only fair and in order, to no avail. I then asked for their names but was only given the name of the guy who saw a thief in me and publicly disgraced me, which is Calvin Mathebula. I wanted to take a picture of the security lady's name badge as I had nothing to write with but the same Calvin came and concealed the name and said I can go and lodge a case wherever he does not care. I was deeply hurt and so hysterical to be falsely accused and publicly disgraced by a boy young enough to be my son and showing no remorse for that matter. No one in store had name badges on and they refused to give me their names saying that they don't want trouble. On my way out, I could see the name of the security lady on the badge because she was now focusing on checking people as they leave the store, which is EM Letlape. I then called my lawyer who asked me what the manager said.On realising that I forgot to engage the manager, I went back to the store. On my request of asking to see the manager, I was pointed to the same rude, Calvin Mathebula, that was my worst nightmare, I have never seen a person with such level of unproffessionalism, lack of respect to fellow human beings who pay him his salary, negligence and arrogance. I am a woman of 48 years, a pastor of a prominent church and manager at an educational institution and I feel so aggrieved, disrespected, feel my rights are infringed, my reputation dented, publicly disgraced and emotionally tortured and abused.

Your immediate and urgent attention to the matter is appreciated.

Mr Price Group / MRP money owed to me

Good day I bought a tracksuit pants from Mr price parow centre I swiped my card at the mobile machine with one of the ladies she told me the transaction failed so I had to swipe at the teller again with this resulting in the amount going off twice I've been in the shop phoning them as well numerous times its been more than two weeks I'm still waiting on money for a had to take in a 3 month bank statement as well so I waited all my time and money going back and forth really dissatisfied with the service I've received from your parow centre branch.

Good day

I am Washeema Hendricks. I recently started to shopping online from Mr.price and loved it. I ordered my first time and was very happy about everything. The service was absolute perfect . The second time i surely wasnt happy. Well I was at work and my order was delivered. At that moment for about 10minutes no one was home. The lady that works for courier stays around the corner of my house. Well I dont really know her but she signed for my items. Mr. Price staff itself was signing. The very same lady stays on my friend that i was on school with's yard. I only met this lady once and we not friends exactly because i dont know her. My other schoolfriend went to to this old friend's house and than this lady asked her to bring my packet. My packet I only got one day later after the delivery because my friend gave it to my mom because they coulnt reach me again. My question to Mr price is how can their staff sign for customer packages themselves? How can you ask for my number but not phone me for arrangements. On online it says you will receive a sms when the order is on its way. I did not even know my order was in my area and how can i trust online shopping again. I mean if the package was lost what then because i would have tought its still on its way and you would have thought im a skelm because it was signed off. The lady's words to my friend was they are saving not to go twice to my address. I dont care. Im paying and no one phones or sms or emailed me. I wont shop online again and i wont shop at mr price again because staff is sighning themselves for customers packages which is fraud.

Mr Price Group / MRP cellphone contract payments

first I got the phone and then there was a network problem for a period of two to three days and was told that it would be resolved, when I wanted to return the tablet because I didn't like it I was told I can't because it has been over 5days which was wrong but either way I kept the phone, but instead of the 130 initial agreement on the contract to b debited, it went over the limit so I asked them to only debit the initiated amount. That was resolved then again they stopped debiting money on the agreed date and would claim that there was no money in my account which was a big lie they did not debit and they would sometimes debit double the money even when my payments were in order. The contract was supposed to end/terminate in December 2017 but to my surprise they didn't terminate it even after I told them in November to terminate it. I called them on the first week of January to have it terminated and within a few minutes the sim was blocked, I hadn't used my December data and the sim still had data when it was blocked. All the debit orders since I took the contract were in order they even deducted my money in December which was the agreed months on the contract I was fine with that. Now to top everything they debited my money 15th January 2018 for a non existent contract, the contract was terminated with my data in the sim. Yet the nerve to send me a threatening message about an overdue mr price mobile deactivated account being handed over to Daly.pay with a balance amount of 129 and that I should pay now to avoid legal action. That is not going to happen I don't owe you anything I hv kept my end of the contrat untill December which was a two year contract. Infact you are the ones who owe me. I want my data after all I paid for it. Stop sending me threatening messages, just resolve the matter because I do not owe mrprice mobile anything I have paid for two years. Which was the agreement on the intial contract.

Mr Price Group / MRP hockey

I've bought the Hockey stick (the senior stick on promotion for R199. 99) for my 16 year old daughter. Today she and my 11 year old daughter hit the ball for each other and the stick broke right off om the handle. (My daughter played now three years with a Grayson stick for her team. She felt she needed a new stick and we bought this one.) I unfortunately don't have the slip anymore. Please assist. Buying a stick and it don't even keep whole for six shots?

Good morning,

I have a complaint regarding an order place with Mr Price home.

The chair I ordered had a wrong part and had to be returned with your courier company. I have since then been trying to get my money back as no arrangements were being made to send the chair back to me. I had to call the courier company, Mr Price call centre a week later when no one notified what was going on with the chair.

I sent an email requesting that my money should be paid back to me and keep the chair as I was frustrated and when I spoke to one of your consultants he told me that well you said you want your money back so that's what we are going to do, he did not apologies or try to figure out how to give me the product I ordered online swiftly.

I sent another email as it took another week with no response when this money will be paid back and I was sent a voucher instead of my money back and that is not what I asked for. I want my money back. I have sent another email with my banking details your call centre agents now drop my calls and they are not interested in helping me resolve this issue!

Please send my money back as I will never ever again purchase anything from any of your stores.
Your lack of interest in resolving your mistake with customers who pay for your products with their hard earned money in this economic climate is an insult.

Good day, i had a bit of a situation in paying my account in Jan nevertheless after being hassled like twenty times from your call centre in two weeks. I played my account for both Jan n feb 2018. My credit did not update which isn't acceptable. Furthermore in Dec when I made my first purchase I was told if I spent R750 or more il get back R150. I got nothing back. What type of service is this? I'm not impressed with your service at all.

I am greatly disappointed with MRP - I was on holiday in CT for 2 weeks and purchased lots of clothing from Mr Price V&A Waterfront. I was told that I could do an exchange / return at any PMB - Mr Price - on 26th February 2018
Two (2) of the items - a white top (casual) and a pair of slippers did not fit so I placed it into the packet, sealed it and returned home to PMB (via air flight) - 3rd March 2018.
(5th to 9th March 2018 - In Pretoria)
On 11th March 2018, I decided to go to PMB - Mr Price - 277 Scottsville, to exchange the items - stilled sealed in packet
Not to make the same mistake, I tried on the items that I picked.
Went to the counter to exchange and pay - when I noticed the cashier walking away.
I did not make anything of it as I was looking for my receipt which was emailed to my phone.
I was then approached by a black lady who said that she was the supervisor, Zanele Khumalo stated that the white top cannot be returned as it was soiled around the inside top(off the shoulder). I explained to her that the tag is on it and that I did not used the item and neither did I notice that it was soiled. It was purchased it in CT, and that I do not wear make up.
She then stated that people are very clever and can remove the tag, use the item and then put the tag back.
I reported to her that that was not possible as the thin plastic or the tag will reflect tampering and that my tag was intact. It could have been that someone in CT tried it on and their make-up went on it.
Zanele Khumalo reported that if it was soiled the cashier would have written on the slip that the garment was soiled. I explained that the cashier did not do this and furthermore that this receipt was emailed to me.
Zanele Khumalo then reported that the onus was on me to inspect the items I buy - and that I must check the back of my receipt.
I have never been so embarrassed in my life.
Zanele Khumalo spoke to me in front of other customers at the store. I understand that this type of behavior does happen where some people do this sort of thing, however the customer should have been called aside and explained this situation - further more I am not the type of customer that would buy stuff for R1000.00 or more and then return one item after wearing it...
MRP - teach your staff in Scottsville some manners and how to approach people with respect and dignity.

I have bought, exchanged, returned tons of jeans from mr price over and over because the sizing is terrible. I thought im the crazy one until I bought 2 rt jeggings last week. Exchanged for a size 30. It was even tighter than the 28 I bought last week. When I compared the 2 (both size 30), the one was at least 2inches bigger and I fitted into it. But both were labled size 30. It is not simply an error of labelling. It happened to me countless times. Please sort out your jean sizes mr p

Mr Price Group / MRP service / delivery

I went into the mall of africa store last saturday, this was the 5th mr price home I had to go into to try and get all the items I wanted.

I was told by the gent assisting me that I would receive a call from him the next day - on the sunday to give me more info on the delivery - that did not happen.

I got a phone call on monday morning to advise my delivery would take place between 2 and 5 pm that day. I was advised that I would receive a phone call 1 hour prior to delivery
I had to rush to get someone to assist with moving out my old furniture

By the time 5pm came I rang customer service to try and get assistance I was left holding for 5 minutes, I was then put through to the mall of africa store, they said someone from the delivery company would phone me.
This didn't happen, but 5:15 I rang again, he assured me he would follow up. At 5:20 I got a call from the delivery company - he said they were probably running late, great communication to let me know, he said he would find out and ring me back, at 5:30 he rang back to state that they had not even collected my delivery and did not have my items even on the truck.
I have a full time job, I already had to take off 1/2 the afternoon off to sort things out for the delivery and no delivery took place
Maybe r16 600 is not alt to you but it is to me and I paid for delivery, but no delivery took place, I was sitting on the bare tilled floor last night!

Mr Price Group / MRP sim card

I was given a simcard . I was told them 'I don't want that sim card because I have four phones. They said it is not a problem even if I don't use it . What they did they stop sending my statement to my original number.but I kept on paying them true EFT knowing that I'm owing. One day I went to purchase some clothes that is when I see on the rept my credit is more than i was owing, I then asked them they said it is the simcard they gave me . I told them i did not activate that simcard because I had no need for it . The lady who was helping said they cannot reverse the money even if they can see that the air time was not use I have to pay for it.

Mr Price Group / MRP incorrect pricing and being overcharged at the till

Date of incident: 09/12/2017 ( 9 December 2017)

Dear Sir/Madam

This is the third time that i am writing to you, with no response after the first two times. i would like to bring to your attention the pricing of a garment at the Mr Price store in centurion.
I purchased 4 x t-shirts of which, I was overcharged on one.
I tried calling the store, no one answers the phone [protected])( provided on till slip). I tried at Mall at Reds store, but they will not help me.

I then tried the customer care, one is either put on hold, or cut off. Eventually spoke to the staff (Josh). He then called the manager at the Centurion Mall store, tried to connect but to no avail.

My point is the garment is clearly marked R69 - Charged R79 for R10 it is going to cost me petrol, time, parking, and who is going to reimburse me.( NB i do not live near that mall) . I'm sure if i was R10 short the store would not sell me the garment.

All I hoped that they could give another store permission to help me, or via email pass me a credit. But the staff tells me to go to Centurion mall to sort it out. I am very disappointed with customer services and the other stores and with you guys for making me write to you for a third time with the same complaint. nothing is being done. We continuously shop at Mr Price stores.

NB: I want a reply asap by Tuesday 20 February 2018 as your sole purpose is to help customers with their complaints otherwise ill have no choice but to approach the National Consumer Comission South Africa.

Mr Price Group / MRP till services is poor, staff members are rude and supervisors can't lead

I went to mr price sammy marks squares in pretoria, this actually happened for the second time while I was there on the xx of february. The front til - desk had close to 8 members on the desk but there was only one person helping customers. One customer complained about the slow service and low staff response to paying customers with cash suddenly all front staff went arrogant and then told customers to go to woolworths, the supervisor stood there with nothing to say as they continued being arrogant to customers. Let me identify in particular a lady assistant by the name jeanette (jesek) as written on my till slip on 16/02/2012. She went on speaking arrogantly against paying customers, to use cards and if so to go wait a que at woolworths for them to get speedily service and she was seconded by the other one which I couldn't take her name.

These assistant seems to be not well trained, don't value the customer, don't understand who they work for and the supervisors failed to lead and maintain order. Clearly mr price encourages this if this is happens to be on going, since its not my first experience with such conduct. Therefore I assume that mr price customer policy is weak and the leadership of the business is another victim of filling bee positions with compromise to customers and the brand.

Customers deserve better and mr price and its staff, especialy shop assistants are giving us a low standard service

Mr Price Group / MRP still waiting for a store card after 2 months

My name is clint eriss, ive applied for a store card almost 2 months ago, it was approved, a few people called me once or twice but I havent heard anything since and I see that my application still shows its being processed.
The few times that they did call they asked me alot of ridiculous questions
Like where else have I applied for retail credit, firstly my wife does all the applications so I couldint give them a answer secondly why should it be their business.. Mr Price Group / MRP about an employee disrespecting and shouting at us

Went to Mr Price Cresta and my 4 year old spilled some water from her bubble bottle. Your employee by the name of Alice shouted from the door disrespectfully saying what ya'll spilling on the floor. I asked her why are you then shouting at us from the door she shouted more and I lost it. When She said I'm not even dressed appropriately, that was it

Mr Price Group / MRP service

Good day.
I bought clothes on the 3rd of February at Mr Price clothing Menlyn. Something was wrong with the the machine and i ended up paying twice. I was promised that they would call me in 1 or 2 days and arrange for a refund. They took down my contact details and everything they needed. On the 5th and 6th Feb I called them (as of course no one had called me ) but no answer after several attempts. On the 7th I called their customer center and I was put through to the Menlyn store. Surprisingly there was an answer. I explained the situation to the store manager and she promised that they would do the refund today still. The store manager said she didn't know about this?
Anyway I received my money but that is not the point. Point is they should adhere to promises they make. Why must i be the one following them around. Bad bad service.
