Mobile Media Solutions Fraudulent charges on phone bill

Got a text message last night that " Fashion your Flare" Fashion Tips subscription was renewed for $9.98 per month. So I called TMobile today to see what was going on. Turns out that TMobile won't talk to you unless you are an authorized user on the account HOWEVER they will let a 3rd party put fraudulent charges on your bill without your permission! The company doing this is MOBILE MEDIA SOLUTIONS Phone number [protected] or [protected]. This is how they do it. When a pop up page appears on your computer telling you that you are a winner and you respond with your name and phone number, they phish your phone number and then start placing charges on your phone bill even though you have not approved them and most likely don't want them. Let everyone know about this and check your phone bills! Don't give any info to anyone you do not know. If the page pops up, ignore it...it's a scam. Although TMobile says that they don't call it a scam, they call it a 3rd party transaction. Well, maybe it's time to make a 4th party transaction and get rid of TMobile! I have already put their name out on Facebook, plan to contact the BBB, the state attorney general, tweet about it and I wrote them a nasty email. Next I plan to call the company daily to give them a bit of their own medicine! Oh, they are also cute...the text came from Commune E. Kate!

Mobile Media Solutions Criminal activity - Fraudulent subscription to paid services

This company are real criminals - I'm dead serious. They practice fraudulent subscription of people to their "services" by deceiving them - they mask the subscription process so that it looks like some lottery entry or something else. The main thing is that they make you enter your phone number and then you receive a PIN and enter it on some website (they use various pretexts - lottery, sweepstakes, some survey, etc.) - and that's all they want from you, because what you REALLY DID was to subscribe your phone number to a paid "service" which costs $9.99/month.

As for me, I have been a PC Security Admin, so I know these tricks, but they caught my wife today, using a pop-up fake 'survey' on Gmail and promises to win an iPhone or some similar device. My wife's phone was (without her knowing it) signed for one or two of their 'text services'.

I have investigated the matter and I saw lots of complaints against this company. Frankly speaking, I do not understand why these people are still walking free because this is an obviously criminal scheme, very well-known, and I have encountered such things in my native country many times. Actually, what these people are is THIEVES and they should be in jail.

Anyway, I DO NOT intend to pay ANYTHING for these annoying text messages. I found their website and using the contact form notified them that I INSIST on removing my wife's number from ALL of their subscription lists and NEVER send anything to her again. I have already contacted my phone company and they promised to reverse charges and block these numbers if my wife's phone is billed. I did not try to send 'STOP' messages to their numbers as I have suspicions that this may cost additional money. At the same time I am thinking about filing complaints with FBI and FCC because this subscription scheme is fraudulent and unfair.

Mobile Media Solutions Cell Phone Scam

I to recieved charges of $9.95 (5 charges) 3 of the charges took place within seconds of each other. When I finnaly got thru to the company I did not receive any satisfaction of how to get this to stop and how to get a refund of my money. THEN I GOT REALLY MAD!. Upon further checking after calling their location in Arizonia, I found their headquarters in Toronto, Canada. Address: Mobile Media Solutions, 607-38 Eglinton Ave. West, Toronto, ON M4R 1A1. I have a contact name of : Shelisa, who is the Customer Care Supervisor.
I contacted the Better Business Bureau of Toronto, ONTARIO and filed a complaint. I was going to go through my legal system in Ohio but needed the contact person's FULL NAME. You will not get this information from anyone in that company. Also you had to be available to be in court for your suit. I also contacted my Attorney General who also helped me with the complaint. The BBB was able to get me a good portion of my money back from the company but they refused to pay $19.90 that was still outstanding. I contacted the Attorney General and they have succeeded to get my the balance of what is owed to me. Just received yesterday. You MUST CALL your phone company and put a BLOCK on unwanted SMS text messaging from scam companies. The phone company doesn't really want to stop this as they are making money on these companies. The TODAY SHOW had a program on this scam and it has been going on for at least 10 years. Go on line and check out the company and it website and you will not find any contact names only the high powered advertising. You can also put pressure on the phone company to get these charges off your bill. Stand your ground. The people I spoke to KNOW how big a problem this is. I DID GET MY MONEY BACK! Stay strong but stay MAD!

Mobile Media Solutions Unauthorized 9.95 charge

Right. And I live with three other people. This phone isn't sewn into my skin. Sometimes I set it down and walk off. Sometimes I go to sleep. Sometimes I have to leave it on the charger and I can't stand by the charger to make sure nobody touches it. You know what I'm talking about it. Explain your double opt-in process to me. I'm going to continue to waste your time until you stop wasting my money, in addition to my time. I want to see the first opt-in page and the second one as well. Please and thank you.

Hi, physical possession of the cell phone is required in order to sign up for our services. It is a double opt-in process that only someone with physical possession of the cell phone can complete.

You are cancelled from our services

And your contention is that I browsed to guessology.com and clicked on a link wanting lotto results? Is that correct? I've never played the lottery, people! I have no interest in the lottery. I want my money back. The web is getting flooded with scam/spam con artists such as yourself to an alarming degree. You're wasting my time and money. I'll most likely just end up paying the bill and posting multiple negative reviews about your company, along with the contents of our e-mail exchanges. Or I may post negative reviews and send you the legal letter. How does that sound? Your company's unethical practices amaze me.

That seem to be the company's problem. You can confirm that I agreed to terms and conditions; but you either have no way of telling where I did so or you're not willing to tell me. You'll be receiving a letter in the next few days. Your company certainly has some way of tracking WHERE I agreed to your terms and conditions. I want to see the advertisement or the pop-up and how the terms and conditions are agreed to(checkbox, radio button, etc.). This is becoming absurd.

Mobile Media Solutions texts

I keep getting texts from a 705-41 it's a laugh 4 jokes. I keep entering stop many, many times. It says if I want them to stop then they will. Then I will received another one. I am tired of this happening. I had called a number they have on the bottom . I called they said they were closed. So I left my number which it asks if you want them to stop. It still continues. The name it says is Mobile Media Solutions. I don't know what else to do to make them stop. They keep trying to charge me $9.99. Not sure on my phone bill if they have.

Mobile Media Solutions Fraud and Misleading Scams

I was paying my Verizon cell phone bill today online and I finally noticed extra charges that I didn't agree to when I signed my son up last year. These extra charges have been going on for over 4 months now with charges that seem like a total scam for an extra $29.00 per month since January 1, 2011. I contacted a customer service rep tonight at Verizon and she was able to tell me who was charging the extra $29.oo fee. A so called third party vendor named Mobile Media Solutions. Well, the rep from Verizon was very helpful in helping me put an end to this tonight. She made a 3 way call with me on the phone to the vendor and we got an automated recording asking if I would like to unsubcribe to this. The recording said Press 1 on your cell phone if you would like to unsubscribe and then add your cell phone number and press the # sign after you are finished putting in the ten digit number. So the Verizon rep did it for me as I listened in, after a few seconds the automated voice from Mobile Media Solutions came on and said there is no number matching that in their records and that we would need to call their customer service reps at Mobile Media Solutions in the morning. If they don't have records matching my son's number then why am I getting charged $29 dollars every month. What a scam! I am fired up and would like to join a Class Action Law Suit against this company. If it was an ethical company it would be a no brainer and give the user an easy way to unsubscribe. But no, they don't allow that to happen and keep good people like most of the unsuspecting cell phone user population in the USA in limbo. It really makes me furious. I know my son got mislead and didn't really understand what he was doing when he joined this site via texting a pin number on his cell phone. Thanks to Verizon I was able to block premium messaging tonight. I also was informed by the nice lady customer service rep at Verizon that she would reimburse the month of April charge for $29 from my bill. What a sweetheart and that shows great customer service and support. I will continue to use Verizon for as long as they keep people like this on staff. As for Mobile Media Solutions, they need to be shut down and fined by the government for misleading and scamming practices. Teenage kids don't know what they are doing when they get fooled by scammers. My son had no idea his cell phone would be charged $29 each month. I wish everyone who deals with Mobile Media Solutions is able to stop their plans from getting ripped off and unsubscribe and block your premium messgaging. Good Luck.

I too have been scammed! I was told by one of their CSR's that I woud be refunded, and today i received a call from the "head manager" refusing to grant me the refund! the manager insinuated to tell me that I had the option to view the terms of agreement through a link..! i made it very clear to her that this is a fraudulent activity as I was made to beleive that I was on teh google search engine sites, and that i was selected to fill out a short survery in hopes of winning a laptop. Using a credible source to TRICK people into subscribing to their useless service is FRAUD! If they weren't a useless service they wouln't need to to SCAM innocent people! I am quite irrate and I will keep complaining until somehtng happens! I hope you all do the same!

I, too have been victimized by Mobile Media. I thought I was filling out a Walmart survey and next thing I know I am to receive Lotto numbers from Mobile Media. I canceled immediately the supposed subscription which was June 2nd 2011. I received a notice of verification from MM confirming cancellation. So far I have had $9.99 charges to my Verizon bill for June & July.Complained to them the 1st month and was told I would receive a check in the mail, hasn't arrived yet. July another charge.I called them and they said they needed the "short code "number on bill and copy of bill.I do my things on line. Called Verizon 3 times today, as requested by MM for info they needed. With third call the Verizon rep, said Mm was dangling me around, which he didn't like to see, so he refunded the money to my account and put a block on Premium texting from MM.Verizon should be proud of their employees. I did threaten Mm with reporting them to FCC as a scam, but since they are in Canada prob doesn't matter. So now, thinking of perhaps our state attorney general to have Walmart remove MM website from their receipts. Will see what happens.Good luck to all of you other victims.

I sympathize with all of you.
26 April my cell phone was charged with the same fee x 2 and showed up on this months bill. Verizon Customer Service did take off the charges and gave me a little information about the company. Turns out that a call center for My One Pure Luv and Pure Luv Alert have a mobile help desk [protected] which was able to verify my cell plan charge. Wow? How secure are Verizon's records and accounts? Secondly they had me call Mobile Media Solutions [protected] or fax -0110 to verify who was the company who had the service for the Luv thing anyway. I am expecting a call from their company within 48 hours, and checked their website out. MMS is based in Canada. Thats right Canada, so for me to go to their offices I would have to use my passport. Seems to me we need a congressional inquiry going on "HOW can a company in another country access my telephone account and send a charge to it?" "Where is the money (if I paid) really going?" Perhaps when MMS calls me back I will add to this string, but TRUST ME - it will not take me long to find out why - how and WHOM and we'll have another target for the SEALS trainees to practice on.

My family does not text eitherm and surprise 2 months in a row, there is charges of $ 21.25 and $13.75 for 1 month and $16.25/month for both months also. They also told me I must have entered a pin # which we did not. They told me to fax copy of phone bill fax [protected] and it would be handed into a review board and it would take 4-6 weeks to hear what they decided. Meanwhile our phone bill still had to be paid. We also called our phone company (FIDO) and they told us after being a customer for 20 years, that we must have entered a pin so there was nothing they would or could do for us. What a way to treat your customers eh Good luck everyone, we will certainly let you know if we hear anything back from the ripoff artists. SH

I'm glad to hear that other companies are following suit with blocking Mobile Media Solutions from charging anymore on there accounts. We're with Virgin Mobile, and they likewise removed charges from our account.I went about it by providing this web site to them to read all the complaints about how they were gaining access to cell phone numbers by fraudulent means. The old enter your cell number to get a pin number for results to some quiz, enter that and the've got you.Totally misleading, and out and out theft.Glad to hear that they lost another customer.Stay alert consumers and watch your wallets, or in some cases your purse.--J.W.

Mobile Media Solutions Charge on cell phone bill

I was voting on a baby photo contest with Great American Photo when asked to enter cell phone number to register for voting. Eventually started receiving unrelated text messages and Replied "STOP" since message said $9.99 would be charged to bill if continued through message. I was still charged $9.99 TWICE from 2 different text messages and numbers which are #62131 mindquiz [protected] and #40684 txtalrts [protected] on the same date 03/03/2011 at 4:59 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. respectively from this same company "Mobile Media Solutions." This is a Complete ripoff! I did not subscribe to these services and billed anyway!

Report them to the BBB and I also reported them to the Office of the Attorney General Consumer Information and Complaints in AZ just go online and type in how to report cell phone scams or cell phone fraud and it will tell you where to file your complaint in your area if enough people start complaining it should put an end to this madness.

I was done the exact same way and ended up with 4 charges at $9.99 when I called to ask for a refund the lady on the phone was extremely rude. The scam was that you had to get this code to move on to the next step for some coupons for cents off on various products my personal phone would not allow then to add charges to they kept asking for a valid cell number which I thought was strange so I gave my business number when I received my bill I received phone different charges of $9.99 which was the number of codes they sent. They never explained anywhere there would be charges.

I received a text to answer a question. Well, somehow i subscribed to mobil media solutions. when i realized it, i called their [protected] and cancelled. When i called AT&T, they saw the charge of $9.99 on my account. They reversed the charge and they put a free blocker for all future things like that.

This also happened to us. My husband & I do not text, so when my husband started getting texts he ignored them. Thinking it was a missed text. DUH.
Now we get our cell bill & have a $9.99 charge for Fun Facts texts. I canceled the service & asked for a refund because my husband did not agree to this. Was politely told "we do not refund for something that you agreed to." Lesson learned: Read the small print.

How many people are paying 9.99 for Stupid texts. YIKES. I miss the old days.

Mobile Media Solutions Scam/Fraud unsolicited text messages

http://www.bbb.org/kitchener/business-reviews/cellular-telephone-service-and-supplies/mobile-media-solutions-in-toronto-on-1220144

This Canadian company systematically defrauds people by having them take a supposedly free IQ test which involves entering your telephone number. Upon filling out this quiz to get the results you read and check the Terms and Conditions. No where on the T's & C's does it state you are signing up for a subscription. Then you receive a PIN number via your cell phone. Then you submit the pin number on the website to get your results. First of all, upon receiving the text below the pin number shows a subscription you automatically get by typing in your PIN. Then subsequently they start sending you text messages at a cost of $9.99 each per month. I just recently noticed that I have been billed for a total of 20 messages for a total of $199.80. There are many thousands of reports of fraud from this company and a law suit is in the making. I have not signed up for this even if I did take an IQ test that was supposedly free. This is a deceptive, fraudulent, thieving business scam in association with the telephone companies.

Since I filed this complaint and also filed one with the BBB, I have received a call from Verizon, my provider as well as from a lady from the company (phone: [protected]). After vigorously yelling at Verizon, they agreed to credit me half of the money (~$75), and the Mobile Media Solutions just called and after some explanation to her, she agreed to refund me the other half (~$75). In the meanwhile I have blocked all Premium Text messaging on my phones. I have posted the details of the complaint below:

I have been dealing with this company for over two months now, I received my cell phone bill and saw that the bill was much higher than normal. I called my phone company and they told be there was nothing they could do about it that I would have to call the company that charged my phone bill. My question for my phone company is how can they let some other company charge things to my bill with out my knowledge? I contacted Mobile Media and they were so rude saying well you had to agree to the terms, What terms? I do not do those online polls and whatever else. Any way after talking to about five people I finally got someone who said a refund would be mailed to me and I should get it within 15 to 20 business days. Well guess what 35 days later no refund and no response to my emails. I almost got my phone disconnected because of this company because I was not willing to pay the charges to my phone company without being sure that I would get that money. Well my phone company said sorry you have to pay this or else. So I paid the bill but now I am out that money. What else can I do?

After reviewing my t-mobile phone, I too caught two separate charges for $9.99 ea. I called T-Mobile and they immediately credited my account for 3 months worth of charges. T-Mobile gave me the phone numbers to Mobile Media Solutions and also told me that their charges to my account started in Oct 2011. I called Mobile Media Solutions and at first they denied doing nothing wrong and told me that my cell number was not in their "system". After much discussion, they admitted it was in their system but only from March of this year. and that they had no record of any prior billing to my phone number? They still owe me for 6 months of charges.

They hit me and I'm still trying to determine how since I am very careful about responding to ANYTHING whether via SMS or web sites. I was signed up for BidAndWin. BidAndWin must be complicit because why would they bill me for a service that requires a password and never actually submit a password to me to get started? Of course! If they sent me a password so I could use the service for which I'm being billed, they'd alert me to their conspiracy with Mobile Media Solutions!

It appears that the ONLY protection from these scams, other than going over your monthly phone bill with a microscope every single month, is to request that all premium texts and/or subscription be verified by you with a PIN. At AT&T there's no charge for the service. AT&T refunded this past months. Now I'm checking to determine whether they'll fork over the prior 2 months bills. My bad for not checking the bill carefully.

Yes, I had a similar situation. It appears this company defrauds people by soliciting their cell phone number when they complete online surveys . Terms and conditions of said surveys do not disclose that participation also authorizes a subscription to a text messaging service which is billed directely to your cell phone provider and then on to you as the consumer. My cellular provider has helped me cancel this service and has blocked the service from my account in the future. My provider is also attempting to get the money reimbursed for me. I have tried to contact Mobile Media Solutions myself several times and can never get through to speak with a representative. This is an extremely deceptive practice on the part of Mobile Media Solutions.

Mobile Media Solutions Scam

This charge showed up for the "bidandwin.com" website on my phone bill. It was in fact initated by Mobile Media Solutions. This is a scam, and if you call them and argue that it is a scam they have a number of rehearsed ways to deal with it, up to and including tell you that "the minute you click on the link to accept, you agree to be billed." This is NOT TRUE or LEGAL. Make them show you the T&C online. It will validate that it's not legal because there is nothing in there that says you agreed to be billed immediately UNLESS you log into their website. Don't bother to argue with them - they have multiple ways of trying to argue around that. Simply point out to them the line that says "Call within 30 days for a full refund" and say, using these words, "I am calling within 30 days for my full refund." Their CSR's are REQUIRED to try to make you hang up UNLESS you say you are calling for your refund as per the T&C. They actually get penalized in their job if they give you a "freebie" without you stating the above. At that point they may try to dissuade you one last time, but be firm, repeat the statement, and if they still won't budge, ask for a supervisor. They should have an Authorization Code to refund your money within a couple of minutes. They will want to send you a check so make sure they get your mailing information and make sure you get their NAME, EMP ID and the AUTHORIZATION CODE in case your check mysteriously "gets lost in the mail." Maybe my hassle can help someone else - don't let these guys steal your money!

They are claiming that I signed up for some sort of program that I did not even have access to my phone at the time they are claiming it was done.
These people are thieves I want to know how to legally get to them
If anyone can help me with this it would be great.

You can also call your phone carrier (mine is AT&T) and have them remove the charges. Make sure they stop the recurring billing as well.

Mobile Media Solutions Not clear on T's & C's

Upon filling out this quiz to get the results you read and check the Terms and Conditions. No where on the T's & C's does it state you are signing up for a subscription. Then you receive a PIN number via your cell phone. Then you submit the pin number on the website to get your results. First of all, upon receiving the text below the pin number shows a subscription you automatically get by typing in your PIN. So I cancelled immediatley by texting "stop to end" and called them. When I called them I let them no clearly this was misleading and in a few seconds from "signing up" and cancelling I was going to be charged a subscription fee anyhow. This is absolutely deceiving.

I was on Kohl's website when a pop-up stated that I won $1000 gift card from Kohls and asked me to fill out the info needed name/address/cell phone number. The minute I pressed "continue" it statd I would be getting a conformation code on my cell phone. My cell phone started getting text messages that I am being charged $9.99 for Mobile Media Solutions Service and then I immediately got another text saying the same thing! The total was now $19.98 and the message stated that to cancel the service I must call the number provided, but the office is closed! I then contacted T-Mobile where they not only got my money refunded but put a stop that Mobile Media cannot call or charge my cell ever. The people at T-Mobile were great! Dave, West Mifflin, Pa.

I realized that for the past 11 months we were being charged $9.99 for premium services. I didn't have any idea what they were so I called my cell phone company and they told me it was a third party billing by Mobil Media. After many complaints and a steadfast persistence with my cell phone carrier I got them to refund the total charges of $109.89. I also got them to block any further attempts at what I call hijacking.
However, I am still still going after Mobil Media as they still claim that I signed up for this service via a text on my phone which I used on my computer. Total bull! I asked for validation of their assertion that I somehow gave them authorization or used their services. They never provided me with anything. I sent them via fax all copies of the pages of my phone bills with their charges on them and again asked them to validate. I submitted e-mail after e-mail and fax after fax and then yesterday I got a refund check of $29.97. I wrote them back and told them that if they think I am falling for this scam of sending me a partial check so that I may go away and they can therefore keep close to $80 of my money for doing nothing they were sadly mistaken. I am sending them hourly faxes requesting the remaining refund. I have made this request via 1 word on a page to the tune of twenty some pages and will continue to send until I get a response. I intend to utilize a minimum of at least $80 worth of their time and paper. I have also bundled all the e-mails we have sent back and forth and am resubmitting them over and over and over...While they may never send me the remaining $79.92, I will have the satisfaction of knowing that I will be there always, like a nasty little tick on a dogs rear, not deadly but certainly a pain in the ###!..

Seems like this is how they do business - I called and at least will get the 9.99 back ( only after asking to speak with a manager ) . However I am still receiving texts from them confirming my cancelation - at $.20 a text. So, perhaps I will take the advice listed above and report the fraud locally - Maybe if enough people do the same, we can change this practice.

I had the same situation today, two charges for $9.99 each. Tmobile blocked this company from my account but refused to give me money back. I called the company, no satisfaction at all. They've said that I can dispute only via mail. They gave me this address: 3317 E.Bell Rd. Unit#101-136, Phoenix, AR. No contact name. I'm planning to call tomorrow and argue with Tmobile. This is a pure scam.

@Ramelle
Repeatedly throughout the 4 pages of complaints regarding CRAMMING by Mobile Media Solutions, Inc. multiple suggestions and requests have been made regarding a Class Action Lawsuit. Now someone steps up and proposes all who have been scammed to unite in a legal manner, and You Object? Granted, he (Jonathan Koerth) is an attorney. Granted, he fully intends to generate a great deal of income from a successful outcome. But consider this, we all have multiple agencies to contact: FTC, FCC, BBB, Canadian Government Officials (which ones?), all states Attorney General's Offices regarding each individual [state you reside in & Arizona State Attorney General's Office, since MMS claims to be in AZ], possibly hire a personal attorney in order to sue in small claims court or do it yourself, etc(shall I go on?)...

I am currently waiting for "Andre" from Verizon Wireless to call me back at 6p.m. EST. He has already informed me that Verizon is not responsible for the charges due to the fact that MMS is a "third party vendor". Spoke to Tanielle at MMS and she informed me that MMS is not responsible for the charges on my cell bill. Well I guess, seeing as how no one is responsible for the charges on my cell phone bill, then logic and common sense dictate that I am not responsible for the unsolicited charges fraudulently placed on my Verizon Wireless bill either?! Oh by the way, who does "Andre" think he's fooling and Verizon also for that matter? If you people think that your cell phone carrier is not profiting Big Time from their collusion in this Scam/CRAMMING Scheme, think harder and with a clear mind!

Good luck Jonathon Koerth, Esq. You might hear from me. But not before I do as much damage as I can to MMS and Chris Sweis as I can through legal and media means. I will be contacting my local consumer news people shortly for one thing, as I reside in a major metropolitan TV market!

As for you Ramelle, is this your site? What right do you have to impose your opinion on the rest of the deceived, just because you disagree with "solicitation"? Do not bother responding to that question as it is strictly rhetorical in order to make a point.

Good Luck to All who have posted their disgust with the thieves who operate Mobile Media Solutions! Please do not be passive in your efforts to recoup what is lost. And do not forget to include compensation for ALL of your time and expenses(envelopes, letters, paper, stamps, so on and so forth). Those who wish to go it alone, Please also include your cell carrier as they are a MAJOR PLAYER IN THIS SCAM/CRAMMING!

Signed,
