I booked the Milleridege for my daughter's engagement party which was held Saturday, April 18th. When the entry was served I noticed a bug in my mashed potatoes. When I proceeded to get up to show the staff I noticed termites on the walls, window and the table set up with all the drinks (I have photo documentation). Upon bringing it to the management's attention, they stated they would move us to another room and asked if the guests wanted additional food or beverages, but at that point no one was interested in any food or beverages they had to offer. When it came time for dessert, my guests picked at the cake and were extremely hesitant to eat it. I was completely humiliated and upset especially when management was so aloof and matter-a-fact about the whole incident. They admitted termites were a problem because after all "it's an old, all wood house". The only compensation they offered was the bar tab in the amount of $320 which I felt was totally unacceptable. I also was mortified when two guests phoned to say they were ill for the weekend.

DON’T BOOK AN EVENT AT THE MILLERIDGE INN, JERICHO, NY

The surprise party planned for my husband turned into an igloo party. It was 20°F and windy outside. In the room it was barely 61°F with the heat on. Apparently the broken fireplace flue (which they knew about before the party started) filled the room with cold wind so friends sitting by the fireplace were freezing. The menu cards were missing from the table and to finish the night, a lopsided birthday cake made in their own bakery was served. The banquet person I set up the party with, Amanda, was never to be seen again after I paid in cash. Then the day of the party I was calling to add 2 more people for the party and she was nowhere to be found. I finally found Adam and he added the people. When I went back after the party she was not there again so we told Adam what had happened and he said he would call back in a couple of days after he checked on what happened. We called him 6 days later. He told us he had to send it to corporate and they would get back to me. Days later, an unprofessional corporate person from the Dover Group named Elizabeth (no last name given to us nor would she give us the owner's information) told me that it was my responsibility to have requested a room change during the party, really? They knew the flue was broken and it was cold but somehow it was my fault for not asking a room change? Elizabeth took no responsibility whatsoever for what went wrong nor did she apologize. When asked about the missing menu cards as per the contract, no reply. Same response when i asked her what the 2% administrative fee was for. She was so nasty and rude and should not be dealing with the customers.

The wait staff and the restaurant manager Freddy were professional and very friendly. Freddy gave me brunch for 2 for the horrific cake that should never have been sent from their bakery to be served. Yet, Elizabeth told us the brunches were given as compensation for the party not just the cake and that's it- almost implying I was not being truthful. That's not what Freddy told us. Have your party elsewhere; you'll save the 2% administration fee, headaches and lies. Apparently Dover Group must not care about good customer satisfaction if they have people like Elizabeth there. Not even an apology, WOW!

wish they would honor the deceptively worded birthday club offer...that would be nice!

I have been to the Milleridge many times. Less than one month ago, we had my grandfather's after-funeral lunch at the Milleridge. Their service was awesome. The food was good. And I did not notice any bugs anywhere. I found the facility to be clean and the food to be delicious. I completely disagree with your complaint. Maybe Milleridge was having an off-day and hadn't yet sprayed for the spring season.
