Midas awful experience

My parents own one car. They are both on SSI and make only $850.00 a month on SSI. The car was over heating. I suggested they go to MIDAS to have them take a look at it. I had never had bad service from them. I was comfortable sending them to MIDAS. They looked at the car and said they knew what was wrong with it and they could definately fix it for $450.00. My parents dropped off the vehicle and left it for three days.

They paid the $450.00 and got it back. The next day they were on the way to a doctors appointment and it overheated again! Luckily I had AAA and got it towed home. They drove it to MIDAS the next day; and it overheated on the way. They said they could 'look into it, for $45.00 an hour.' WHAT A RIP! They took 1/2 of my parents money, with no question --- didn't even fix the problem and now want to charge $45.00 an hour to look at it again! DREAM ON!

I am severely sorry I referred my parents to them. I will never use them again and I am telling EVERYONE never to use them!

I am now sharing my vehicle with them and getting rides from people from my work so they can go to doctor appointments!

Whoa! $45 an hour? That is cheap! Cooling systems can easily have more than one problem. Just because you can see a water pump leaking doesn't mean that you don't have an electrical problem with a fan. Get it? Not many people have a lot of money saved for car repairs so don't go for the poor me vote. I don't have hands and had to type this whole thing with my feet. Do you feel sorry for me now?

Midas Terrible experience

I took my car to Midas in Englewood, Ohio for a routine replacement of brake pads. I drive a Honda Civic with 56, 000 miles on it. I go to pick up the car the next day and the car will barely move. I pulled over at a nearby service station only to realize that the front end of my car was on fire! The vehicle was returned to Midas for them to rectify the situation and they refused. They stated that they could only replace the parts they worked on which were the pads which cost a whopping.

$240.00 for pads! They offered to fix the parts that were ruined by the fire for an additional $900.00 plus tax. They said the fire had nothing to do with their work. I had a reputable company tow the car and check it out and they found nothing wrong with the car other than the brakes which had a greasy film on them. I contacted Midas corporate and they refused to believe that their technicians were at fault and would not assist me in any way. I will never deal with Midas again nor will I recommend it to anyone I know or come into contact with.

Midas I have never seen such unprofessional

June 17, 08 I took my car to Midas to have the muffler welded back on. I was told, I needed new convertor, entire new

exhaust system. I asked about flow masters, quoted $199.00 ea ON SALE.Total

for all work $1200.00

Car is on lift, mechanic undoes exhaust

system, just lets it fall. this put pressure on muffler causing it to press

against back bumper, and creasing and

cracking it. Mechanic tells me he can

fix it.I get manager, he screams, 'We did

not do this, Get out of here now.

Mechanic brings car down, he is mad

slams car door as hard as he can I go

get manager again, they both tell me,

he(the mechanic)did not slam my door

nor damage my bumper. They are demand-

ing I leave(without securing exhaust

system).I call police, when he came

manager is threating to put a Mechanics

Lein on my car for all the work they

have done."What work".Police advise me

to leave as they can claim work they have not done.

Same day took mycar to Medina and Sons

I did not need convertor, nor exhaust

system. They welded my muffler on $35, I bought two flow masters $89.99 ea.

TOTAL $230.00 and when they disconne-

ted system, they sat it on device. Did

not just let it fall.

I left Midas with a damaged bumper, a

damaged door, window will not work and

metal brace to my muffler is missing.

I have never seen such unprofessional

behavior in my life. I am going to post

this on every site I can.

How did you muffler fall off? Was it rusted where it came off? I don't see piles of mufflers on the side of the road, so tell me how it came off and how to weld to flaking apart rust. Please.

Midas irresponsible and dangerous behavior!

Brought my Nissan Maxima in to Midas in Eatontown New Jersey. The bottom line is that the mechanic let me out of the shop knowing I would get stuck on the road. All he had to do was recommend that I take my other car which was parked there to avoid getting stuck on the road. He didn't tell me there was a risk (read certainty) because, as he said - "It's not my problem".

The new owner's wife was there when it happened, and she agreed with him. Horrible people. They weren't even sorry or polite about the matter.

Midas improper repairs!

I've gone to Midas for a while now, because I live down the street from it, but every time I go and get something done it ends up a catastrophe. First thing that went wrong was, I went to get my break pads replaced, it ended up that I needed a whole new break system , shoes, pads, and rotors. I was like, "fine if it needs to be replaced, replace it". Little did I know that whatever they did to my breaks, it never felt the same (I've put over 100,000 miles on my car and I never had problems with the breaks until MIDAS replaced them.) There was several squeaks and had to excessive pressure on the break petal to stop. I went back 3 times to try to get them to fix what was wrong, but they told me that everything was safe and fine. Another thing that went wrong was when I was driving and my alternator breaks off.(Yeah, I don't know how that happens, but Midas said that it was a bolt that they tensioned that was holding the alternator on snapped off) That stems from MIDAS putting in a new pulley that was making a squeaking noise. The last thing that happened was when MIDAS sent me a coupon for a free oil change and tire rotation.(After all that's happened I figured, "how can they mess up an oil change and tire rotation") I was wrong. Got the oil change and tire rotation and drove off. While I was driving I noticed a gas and exhaust smell in the cab of the car, with the windows up, but didn't think much of it at first. So i drive probably about 4 miles and the smell doesn't seem to want to go away, so I go home and pop my hood. Looking under the hood, I find that MIDAS didn't put my oil cap back on. There's oil spewed everywhere in the engine compartment. Thankfully I caught that because my alternator was splattered with oil, and that wouldn't of been fun if it caught fire. That's not even mentioning all the other electrical stuff that was covered in oil, and could of potentially caught fire. DO NOT GO TO THIS MIDAS THERE IS RISK OF MAJOR DAMAGE.

Uh yeah dude, it's "brakes" and "pedal" . You're no spelling expert but at least you know what will catch fire under that hood. Go to another repair shop from now on and see if your car becomes perfect without any issues ever again :) . I'm being serious go to another shop.

Midas Work never done

October 23, 2007 I had my truck in at Midas location Manchester New Hampshire. I had paid for Midas touch maint package, Bulb lights and state inspection. I was advised that my Truck did not pass inspection due to muffler, and right outer tie rod. I was aware that I needed a tire rod but I didn't understand any other issues. 11 hours later on October 24, 2007 at 9:00 am in the morning my brake went out. The brake pedal suddenly went to the floor, due to the left brake hose rupturing. The metal part of the left front brake hose was bent up causing it to be in the incorrect position; which resulted in its failure.' Midas should have noticed this defect on 10/23/07 when Midas performed the visual courtesy check which I had paid for. It was advised in writing from Midas that, no immediate attention was needed for brake lines/hoses. How could this error been missed? Due to Midas missing this defect it has cost our family's safety, towing expenses, taxi cost, brake line and Midas bill, a total of $385.61.

Since that time our family has paid for another opinion on ALL work performed by Midas and found our exhaust doesn't need to be replaced. We have been advised that our filter was not replaced. We are appalled, disgusted and shocked that this was missed and work was not preformed at all. Our family is more upset that we paid for Midas to do a safety check and that check was NEVER DONE. Missing this caused our family to almost DIE in an accident with losing our brakes. Thank god no one was hurt.

To sir above, no customers are not always right. Really? You are an idiot. Yes, you should always treat your customers right, does not mean the other. Where do you work? I will come there and be your customer and prove to you I can be wrong. What a stupid saying, why do people still use it only when talking about how they've been wronged.

Have you ever cut hair? Ever missed one? There's a lot to look at under a vehicle and some things you cant see easily without removing parts (wheels in your case). Why is Midas at fault for almost killing your entire family? Did they put the caliper/pads/brake hose on? And yes I really am glad nobody was hurt! So let's not talk about what could've happened, the list just goes on too long.

On April 6, 2007 I went to Midas Seabrook, NH. for an inspection sticker for my 1999 Hyundia Sonata. I was told that I needed a P/S A/C belt at a cost of 81.95. It took Johns crew a very long time to install the belt, so long that John issued me a credit to be used at a later date for a free LOF. On April 12, 2007 I went to Midas Seabrook NH this time for an inspection sticker on my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Midas informed me that I needed rear brakes, Midas installed the brakes. On April 17, 2007 I heard a thumping noise coming from the rear of my Jeep, I went to the rear tires and discoverd that Midas Seabrook forgot to tighten the lug nuts. I went to the closest Midas shop to have them retighten the lugs. I went to Midas Seabrook to complain about the lack of attention to detail and the fact that I was upset that they put my family in an unsafe condition when it left the shop. John issued me a credit to be used at a later date for 50.00. ( Lets see 50.00 divided by a family of four, give me a brake). On 10/25/2007 I returned to Midas Seabrook with my Sonata complaining of a loud squealing noise. Midas determined that the belt they installed on 04/06/2007 was defective and replaced the belt. On 12/28/2007 I went back to Midas Seabrook with the same squealing noise. Per inspection Joe the associate on duty told me that the Tensioner Pulley was off center and it needed to be replaced, if I would buy the parts ( Pulley and Belt) he would installed it for 35.00. I just had the belt replaced on 12/28/2007 . I then went to the experts at Hampton Hyundai to have them look at the car, they said it was the Pulley, it was off center and that the only way that could happen was whom ever installed the belt forgot to tighten the nut on the Pulley, which caused the pulley to be off center allowing the belt to ride across the pulley, damaging the belt and pulley. I went back to Midas to tell them what Hampton Hyundia had found to be the the reason for the all the trouble, again lack of attention to detail. I spoke with Joe again and all he could do is advise me that he needed to speak with John is manager. So here I am again with a belts that's about to fall off. I feel I gave Midas enough chances to fix this problem. SO I choose to have my Sonata fixed at Hampton Hyundia immediatley. The mechanic had to replace the tension pulley and the belt. He also stated that the reason that the pulley and belt wore out was because the nut on the pulley was not tightened when the belt was installed and wehn he took the nut off there was very little tension on the nut, causing the bearing in the pulley to ride off center which was the root of all the problems. This mechanic provided me with the parts and a detailed diagram and suggested I show these to Midas.

I went back to Midas on 12/28/07 to meet with John. I explained everything from the lugs on my Jeep not properly being tightened to the nut of the trensioer pulley not properly being tightened. I also showed him the parts and the diagram, and told him that I expected him to stand by the Midas Pledge and take care of the problem. He explained that the Seabrook NH crew had the least amount of complaints than any other Midas Shop .(now that's comforting) He aslo claimed that the Hampton Hyundia experts were wrong. I asked John to refund my $81.95 the original cost for the work performed on 10/25/07 when his crew did NOT tighten the nut on the pulley when they installed the second belt. Considering I had to pay Hampton Hyundia $236.26 to correct the problem I think the right and fair thing for him to do rwas to refund my $81.95. John's response was he had already given me enough credits. Again credits for negligent work by his crew. John proceeded to ask me what I would do if he couldn't do anything, ( I found that staement to be odd) I told him I would submit a formal complaint to Midas. He repsponded "It wouldn't matter because Midas would just kick the complaint back to him". In conclusion John said he would check with his boss and call me back on Monday 12/30/07, to date I have heard nothing back from John. I'm am certain you can imagine my frustration and lack of confidence in John and the Seabrook shop. I'm sure it goes without saying I will not use Midas services again nor will I ever recommend your services. This is a poor example of professional services. I work in the retail business and my customers are always right!

Midas Sad excuses for a auto repair shop

Midas 18783 N. 83rd Ave. Peoria, AZ [protected]. My 21 year old daughter took her car to midas to have the rear end seal replaced in her 67 Mustang. They replaced it with the wrong seal. It continued to leak, she called and they told her that it wasn't the seal, they said she needed a new rear end. Which was not the case, she only needed a competent mechanic to replace the seal, using the right seal, not one that doesn't fit. She Was promised a refund back on 07/02/07, Since then we have been given the run around, and she still has not received her check. The thing that makes me so mad is, the fact that Midas is trying to rip off and take advantage of a young women. Midas is a sad excuses for a auto repair shop.

Midas - horrible customer experience

About 6 weeks ago I took my 1997 Honda Civic EX into Midas because the “Check Engine Light” was on and my car had been having a problem picking up after stopping and getting into the correct gear. Midas told me the transmission sensor needed replaced and the transmission fluid needed flushed. I asked Midas to make the necessary repairs and paid almost...

Midas Terrible experience!

I would like submit a complaint about Midas muffler in Plainfield, Indiana. I left my car at the shop for front brake pad (disc) replacement typically a $100.00 repair. The mechanic called and said the repairs would exceed $600.00 dollars. I was skeptical of the work they suggested; however, pressed for time I agreed. Three separate times I picked up my car only to drive away with very little/no breaks. The final time the manger told me they were fine said "I checked them myself". I lost confidence in his ability to repair my car. I scheduled an appointment with the Volvo garage "Tom Wood". This is the shop that usually works on my car and had checked my brakes last. The mechanic at the Volvo shop said he doubted if the calipers (front brakes hydraulic) needed changed and the brakes had been installed improperly. The Volvo shop reinstalled the brakes and is now working properly. I have called 800/211-8887 "Jack Surface" customer satisfaction line. The 800 number rings to answering machine. I have left messages 8-10 times with no return calls from "Jack". I have received a call from the local shop informing me that Jack would be returning my call weeks later still no call. Please help me contact customer service with Midas. I have 5 children and this shop let me drive away with the brakes in this condition. I want to discuss this with someone at Midas that cares about customer safety and satisfaction...

I went in for oil change in August 3, 2023 because they had a special. It was $59.99 full synthetic oil change. I also needed air filter $29.99 and cabin filter $34.99. The total with 9.25% tax should have came to $136.53. I was shocked when my total ended up being $170.57. That is nothing but false advertising.
