Midas replacement of brake pads, rotors and tyres.

I took my car to get the brake pads, rotors and tyres replaced. At the completion of the job only 4 of the 6 lug nuts were put back on. This was done the day before labor day long weekend because i had planned to take my family camping 240km away. A day after we got back i noticed a screeching noise coming from the front left wheel, i stopped to investigate and that's when i noticed that there were 2 missing lug nuts. I had paid just over $2000 for a service that was not completed and put my family in danger because of this mechanics negligence. When i contacted him about this issue he made it out as if it were my fault and that i should've checked before driving away from his shop. He has offered to replace the lugnuts today but wants me to come back next weekend so he can check the brakes. I'm not sure if this mechanic fully understands the dangers of travelling long distances at high speeds with missing lug nuts. It may sound abit dramatic but i can't help but think of how my weekend trip with my partner and kids could've ended differently. i also fear that because of this other components of the wheel have suffered and may need to be replaced prematurely. I have contacted consumer affairs on the matter as i believe i have paid for a service that ultimately put not only my familys wellbeing at risk but other road users also.

Midas brakes and rotors "replaced".

I no longer feel safe driving my car as a result of the poor service received at the above Midas. Story is detailed below.

Brakes and rotors were replaced in June 2018. From the moment I left the parking lot, they made a grinding noise. I figured it was the setting in noise I was warned of, so took no action.

The noise persisted for about 2 months before I decided it was no longer "normal". After 2+ hours in a SWELTERING waiting room, I went home with 2 new brakes pads, and was told that there was "debris" on the pad. I was even shown where it had worn into the pad. I am unsure of the exact date of this service: I later discovered that the manager took no notes regarding the service, and failed to provide me with warranty information.

Within a month from that, the brakes continued to make a horrid grinding noise. I brought my car back to the shop on 9/15/18 ( made sure notes were taken this time). At that time the brakes were inspected and I was told that it could be the cheap paint they use on the brakes chipping off and causing the noise. So some of that paint was sanded off, or so I was advised.

From that day forward, my brakes have not been normal, especially given that the brakes pads are about 6 months old. I did not feel comfortable returning to the shop for what would be my 3rd trip to fix the work they did. My braking habits are normal so too are my distances driven each day.

Midas engine repair

On Nov 21, 2018 I had my non-running vehicle towed to my local Midas to be repaired. Upon diagnosis, I was told I needed a new engine, but that Midas couldn't find one at a reasonable price. I purchased one on my own, and had it delivered to Midas on Dec 6. I was told, with ~2 days of labor, I should have my car back.

Every week after that, something would come up... an employee would be off... someone wouldn't show up... Christmas... and the date-of-completion would be pushed back. My vehicle sat in the same spot out on the Midas lot that I had it towed into through the whole of Dec... I would drive past and see it there, and also see all of the cars/customers who were being serviced in my stead.

I was called into Midas on Jan 3 to be told that my car had been broken into, ransacked, and the $600 radio stolen - but because 'it hadn't been pulled into the bay overnight, Midas insurance wouldn't cover it'.

Jan 8 I was told the engine was in, but that my car still wouldn't run, so they would replace the exhaust manifold.

Jan 10 I was told the manifold was installed, but the car still woudn't run, so they needed to replace the fuel pump.

Jan 11 I was told the car was ready to pick up so come in and settle up my tab to the tune of $3500.

Jan 12 I go in to discuss the situation with the store: I explained that, while I understood that bad luck happens sometimes and I had no hard feelings toward Midas, that I'd had to rent a vehicle for an extra 5 weeks solely because of Midas' issues and that I wasn't willing to pay twice, both the rental place AND Midas. In addition, because MY car repair was a low-priority job to them (their business, not my concern) that I wanted to just be made whole. I wanted for Midas to cover the repair bill and replace my missing radio.

I was told that I was being unreasonable, and that they couldn't stiff their mechanics, that they had brought someone in on a Sunday to work on my car, and that they assumed I had multiple cars to drive and so they didn't think they needed to fix my vehicle in a timely manner. So there was no way they would do more than take $1000 off of my bill.

When I told the owner Carl that this was unfortunately unacceptable and that I would have to escalate this issue (even though I didn't want to and I'd have much rather just handled this all in-house and leave Midas a great review stating that 'even though the experience left a lot to be desired, Midas cares about their customers and made it right', Carl told me he would get a mechanic's lien on my vehicle and get it impounded and 'you do what you have to do'.

tl:dr I am very disappointed in my recent ongoing Midas experience and am reaching out to legal counsel to start action.

Midas vehicle issues after repairs have been made.

I made an appointment on 01/19/2019 at the Maplewood, MN Midas to have my flex pipe replaced. I had an estimate done on 12/31/2018 at the same store for the same issue. They told me I could have my entire exhaust system replaced or just the flex pipe replaced. I told them on that date, I only wanted the flex pipe replaced. When I brought my vehicle into the store 01/19/2019, they asked once again if I wanted my whole exhaust system replaced or just the flex pipe replaced. I told them I only wanted my flex pipe replaced. They stated they understood and they would call once the repairs to my vehicle had been completed. I received a call from the store at 1:50 PM stating my flex pipe repairs were done, but they had looked for other problems with my vehicle and found numerous issues. They asked if I wanted those issues fixed. I told them I did not want anything else fixed. I picked my vehicle up and paid the $409 bill for the repairs. The flex pipe was fixed, but now there is a loud squealing noise as I accelerate and my vehicle struggles to go over 60 mph. My vehicle did not make those noises and did not struggle to go over 60 mph before I brought it in. I would like these issues to be fixed without me having to pay for the repairs, but I do not trust the Maplewood, MN Midas store. My Customer ID is [protected] and my email is [protected]@gmail.com. Thank you for your time, John McMillan.

Midas Vehicle repair service

On 12/28/18 I went to the Midas shop on 401 E Anaheim St in Long Beach Ca. I asked them to check a Whistling noise coming from my ca r(Toyota Rav 4) when I started it. It lasted about 30 to 60 seconds then went away.

They informed me it was a problem with the "Belt Tensioner, pully and hydraulic shock. I okay'd the work and paid the $883.00 in full. While doing the work they said they found and oil leak. I okay'd an oil change repair of the leak.

When I got home, I parked in my driveway. The next morning I found a medium sized puddle of new oil under my car. The whistling sound was also still there. I took my car back the next day. Luis (the shop manager) told me it looked like a "gasket" was leaking. He repaired it at no further charge.

The whistling sound persisted so I returned to the shop. The mechanic took it for a test drive and told Luis the brakes were making the whistling sound. I insisted they look at the brakes to verify this. After doing so, Luis told me my brakes were fine. He said, "They have plenty of good meat on them." He suggested I bring my car back the next day so they could look at other possibilities.

I told him that he was making it very hard to trust him. I was $883.00 in and the problem still wasn't fixed. He became aggressive with me at this point. He said he stands by the work that was done and that I needed to bring the car back. I did not care for his aggressive tone with me so I told him I would not be back. He then said (in front of other customers) "You'll see, when you take it somewhere else and they tell you the same thing, you'll be back." I simply said "No I won't."

I will be taking my car to the Toyota dealer for a full diagnostic. Based on their findings, I will seek full reimbursement for the work done at Luis's Midas shop.

Midas muffler installation

My 18 year old grandson, Tyler Alexander, needed a muffler installed on his first car, a 2007 Ford Focus and I suggested that he contact Midas at 420 W. Street Road in Warminster, Pa. to get an estimate to install the brand new muffler he purchased from Auto Zone. Brian Rozas told him that it would cost him $115.00 and gave Tyler an appointment for 9 am, December 15, 2018. Tyler came to this appointment on time and was told that they did not have a lift available and so Tyler waited for a few hours and then walked home where he was told to wait for their call. They called him at 4 pm, indicated that they would need to fabricate and install their muffler at a cost of $299.00 and Tyler agreed to this work. Tyler went to pick up his car just prior to their 6 pm closing to find that they did not work on the muffler and they gave him a new appointment for December 17, 2018 at 8 am. He left his car there on time and left for work. They called him at 5 pm and indicated that his muffler from Auto Zone would not fit and that they will order a new original equipment muffler from Ford and make another appointment to install this muffler at a cost of $525.00. If they provide an early morning appointment, they should honor this appointment. If they eventually had the car on the lift to determine that Tyler's muffler would not fit and that they agreed to install a Midas Muffler for $299.00 the first time, they should have installed it instead of removing the car from the lift and parking it without performing the work they agreed on. After making another appointment, instead of performing the work they should have already performed, they once again examined Tyler's muffler and once again indicated that it did not fit and ordered an original factory equipment muffler and once again did not install a muffler on his car. They never porvided an itemized quote, screwed him around with multiple appointments with different prices each time and caused him a great deal of inconvenience without any results.

Midas service

I went to my local midas dealer at the recommendation of several of my colleagues as my car was loud. Staff was very pleasant, service was prompt and waiting room was clean and comfortable. My vehicle was evaluated and told that I needed to replace the flex pipe. They showed me the part and I certainly agreed to the repair. I was surprised that it only took 20 minutes and again shocked at the labor charge of $170.00 for a 20 minute job. I have to question if this is a mistake and have also sent a letter to the dealer. I departed
content with the service and job done but also felt I had been robbed! I would like to continue to use your services and be able to refer people to your facility, but if this is real would find it hard to do so. date: 12/4/18

Midas lewis center, oh technicians

This was my first time I have ever been at a Midas. I first discovered my car wasn't pumping heat and looked into it and noticed that my reservoir was almost empty. I filled it multiple times and it kept happening. I noticed some coolant around the engine bay and there was was a very little amount of smoke coming as well which was concerning to me. I was concerned about a leak. So I decided to bring it in first thing in the morning. I was the FIRST person at this shop and explained my situation. The first guy that took all my information and listened to my concern was fantastic. I felt at complete ease letting him handle my car. He was so nice even when he called to let me know what was going on. Around 5:15 pm I picked up my car. I drove it home and my car was not blowing out hot air.. it was blowing out cold air. I checked under my hood and my reservoir was COMPLETELY EMPTY! I called and ask why it was empty. They said that if I come back they could top it off for me for free. So I came back and the two gentle men that came out were so rude. My boyfriend had asked if they had forgotten to put coolant in my car and the older gentle man raised his voice and said "WELL DID YOU OVER HEAT THE CAR?!" Both my boyfriend and I looked at each other confused. We explained that we literally drove less than two miles. The older gentle man turned around stepped towards my boyfriend and raised his voice and said "NO I MEAN DID YOU OVER HEAT THE CAR BEFORE WE DID THE WORK?!" Again shocked I said no I literally woke up and drove her this morning right when you opened. The older gentle man started filling my coolant without a funnel, spilling antifreeze all over under my hood. My boyfriend said "could you use a funnel?" The older gentle man then told the younger gentle man "here you do this, I don't get paid enough for this [censored]!" And walked away. My boyfriend followed him and asked for his manager. The older gentle man replied "too bad he's not here. He'll be here tomorrow." My boyfriend walked into the main lobby and was talking to Sinara, who was amazing! So nice and so understanding. While my boyfriend was talking to Sinara, I was standing outside with the younger gentle man while he was refilling my coolant. I was asking multiple questions as to why that would happen and he was so nice and explained everything to me. He was spilling antifreeze all over my car. I asked what does it mean if it keeps happening? And he said "it could be air bubbles or a leak but we didn't detect one." WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT COULD BE A LEAK?! I came here hoping to get all this fixed. Not that there could possibly be a leak. So my boyfriend came out and asked "so what's the story out here?" And the younger gentle man ignored him and started walking away. My boyfriend said "how are we supposed to know if something is wrong?" The younger gentleman said "nothing is wrong!" I said "wait hold on, how come you can tell me what is going on but not him? You told me it's either air bubbles or a leak. I brought my car in for a leak and you're telling that it could possibly be a leak?!" As my boyfriend was shutting the hood to my car, the gentle man started raising his voice at me. My boyfriend has then said don't raise your voice at my girlfriend and the gentle man then said " IS THAT A THREAT? COME AT ME! JUST DON'T COME BACK HERE AGAIN." At this point I was furious. I paid $742 for a new water pump and a coolant flush and it can't even be done correctly. After talking to Sinara again, I was told that I would be contacted by the district manager tomorrow 11/17/18 to discuss the work done on my car as well as the lack of hospitality projected by the technicians.

Midas Drugs being used on the premises

I walked into the Midas store to get my car serviced on St. Joseph Ave. In Evansville Indiana and the store manager was not in sight, but the office smelled like marijuana. I walked to the side door that has a window open to the shop and I witnessed the Female manager and a Male technician passing a pipe back and forth, both of them taking hits from it. When I opened the shop door to get someone's attention, they both finally seen me and the female manager hid the pipe behind her back like nothing was going on, then exhaled a cloud of smoke. She then proceeded to tell me they were too busy to service my car-- even though there were no cars on the lot or in the shop. I walked back out to my car where I seen the female manager pull the pipe back out and light it. I guess they thought i couldn't see them through the garage door. This is completely unacceptable and highly illegal. I will never be doing business at either Midas' in Evansville, Indiana.

Midas unfair estimating practices at midas of wausau (wisconsin)

I had a pre-scheduled appointment at Midas of Wausau on Oct 19, 2018. I had to call the owner / estimator twice to get updates after they failed to provide the promised updates in a prompt manner. Then, they cited a need to collect $124.31 diagnostics charge (which was never disclosed up front). Then, they promised to waive the diagnostic charge if I proceeded with their solution. I was verbally quoted a price for parts and labor of $1721.00 and they said they needed to run my credit card for the parts before scheduling the work. They first ran $1500 on my Visa (which far exceed the parts cost), before handing me a written estimate which still included the diagnostic work and a price which far exceeded the verbal quote, to the tune of $2292.84 for the replacement of 4 shocks and an electronic bypass kit. In my professional opinion, the owner / estimator Ken Lafflin has a estimating process and sales tactics which totally lack integrity.

Midas air conditioner

I went to midas in july to have my breaks and routers replaces and also to have my ac recharged. The job done on my breaks was great! No complaints. But my ac is another story. Over all I have been back to midas four times and my ac still does not work I still have all my paperwork! The men are rude and condescending. I feel taken advantage of. They will never get my buisness again. There's nothing wrong with saying you don't know how to fix something but I have a real big problem with being ripped off!

Midas oil change

This morning I dropped my car off for an oil change and picked it up after work. I then drove to pick my son up from soccer and then home. On the way home, my engine was making a straining noise and as I pulled into my house the oil light was flickering. I brought my son in and came out 15 minutes later to a pool of oil on my pavement under the car. I pulled the dipstick and it was bone dry. My 2015 car may now have engine damage, I have no vehicle for work tomorrow or my children's weekend sports events, and my car is undrivable.

Midas replacement filter at last oil change

I had used Midas in East Bridgewater to get my oil changed the last time (which was end of May/beginning of June) and I recently had another appointment scheduled for October 6 to get it changed again and when I arrived a man came out to greet my husband and I saying it didn't matter that I had an appointment, they were to busy to do my oil change anyways. We were very off-put by his customer service and decided we would never use that location again because of it.
I finally ended up getting my oil changed yesterday at Valvoline in Hanover and the man in charge of my bay came over and explained how damaged my previous oil filter was and that I was lucky pieces of it didn't get into my engine because he had never seen a filter so banged up. It was so bad he called all the guys in the other bays over to see it. He suggested I let Midas know because it is a serious case of negligence on whomever put it in my car in that poor condition. I was very embarrassed and even more angry that my fairly new vehicle could have suffered some serious damage. Lawsuit waiting to happen!

Midas without permission, installed part

Vehicle in for a diagnostic check because it had been overheating. At the same time my father brought his truck in for an oil change. My fiance and I signed the paperwork on a separate contract from my father. My car was still being diagnosed, and my father came in to pick up his truck. While there, my father inquired as to the status of my diagnostic. The mechanic advised him that a part needed to be replaced and asked him if he should contact my fiance to advise us of this, and was told by my father "no don't worry about it I will pay for it" and subsequently a part was installed on my car without the person who signed the contract with your company being contacted to okay it. Regardless of the fact that my father offered to pay for it, the work should never have been done without checking with the person who signed the contract (the co-owner of the vehicle that was being diagnosed). When the mechanic called us and advised us of this situation I complained that he should have contacted us first regardless of the fact that my father offered to pay for it later. Without knowing the financial situation or obtaining payment at that time he performed a service that we did not authorize and when we tried to complain and tell him that that was not professional he became even more unprofessional and was very rude on the phone. While on the phone with that mechanic, he repeatedly interrupted and said "I'm not going to discuss this on the phone, " disparaged my fiance's ability to know what was going on with the car, and threatened to remove the part and give it back to us if I posted a bad review. Therefore, I am lodging a formal complaint. Based on my experiences, I will never ever use Midas again. Based on the man's name tag this was the manager of the location.

Midas customer service

I had my vehicle worked on a week prior for stalling and shaking and cutting off. I was told my vehicle needed a coil, spark plugs, and fuel cleaning which totaled about 450$. I agreed on getting the work done they called and said my vehicle was finished I go to pick it up my vehicle stalled and cut off as I pulled it off the lot so I parked it and left it there for the following day because they were closing at the time. Next day after looking at it Gabe called me and said the coil had blew out because it was a bad ground from my engine and it will cost 100$ to fix issue so I said ok if that's the problem go head. So now a week later light came back on and it's still acting as it previously was so I called and scheduled a appointment for 10/11 and when my wife drove the vehicle up there to get checked out Daniel came out and told her it's the Evap they don't fix that and said it rudely and lied and told her he told me that previously. So I called and I said I'm calling about the Nissan Altima that's my wife talked to u about he rudely said "what Altima " I replied the one my wife is up there talking to you about right now. He said "what about it" ? I said ok whats the issue he said "I told you already before it's the evap and we don't fix that " and I said excuse me I never even spoke to you before regarding this vehicle and can you are very rude can I speak with some one else and he just put me on hold and I'm currently on hold and been on hold for 25 minutes now. I had work done on two of my cars from this shop and I've heard rumors about how unprofessional they are but every one there does very well but every time I speak or talk to Daniel he is very rude and unprofessional and "cocky". I ignored it a few times but this issue I can't ignore. I never spoke with Daniel about this car at all, I never seen someone come out diagnose a car in 2 mins and say that can't fix the issue, also if he said that's been the issue why was I charged 550$ for other work? I'm very upset and something needs to be done because everyone at that location is very good professional but one person which gives that location a bad name. The guy that assisted me the first and second day i had this particular vehicle is I believe his name was Gabriel he was very helpful and respectful but this issue today just turned a great experience to a worst experience. Last but not least he put me on hold for a long time, so I hung up and called back I asked to speak with a manager or Gabe the guy who greatly assisted me when I first dropped the car off. The guy that answered the phone put Daniel back on, so I asked again can I speak with a manager or Gabe he replied "I am the manager" I said well is Gabe in he replied " he will be in tomorrow" I asked is it anyone else I can speak with? He replied "yeah my oil change guy" and giggled. So I said I was hoping to speak with Gabe or someone else in management other then you and he said " well Gabe will be in tomorrow" and then hung the phone up. I personally feel greatly disrespected and I'm a individual that values respect and gives respect 100% and I feel like actions like his shouldn't be looked over.

Midas brakes check

I have a serious complaint against the service I received at the 9190 Yonge St Midas location in Richmond Hill.

I brought my 2008 Subaru Impreza in on July 27th 2018. My car started making horribly loud noises, squeaking, rumbling, etc while braking, so I came to have my brakes checked right away. I checked in at the desk and approximately 30 minutes later a mechanic came to tell me that my brakes are perfectly fine. He pointed to the brake pad on the front right wheel, assuring me that my brakes had ‘plenty of life left', and ‘lots of pad left'. He mentioned to me to have the rear calliper checked in winter as the salt and snow may wear it down, but assured me that it was fine at the time. Considering this is a major company, whom I am trusting to have hired skilled and knowledgeable staff, I believed him, paid the fee, and went on thinking my brakes are good.
I continue to drive thinking I will be ok. I was wrong! Within a few weeks, I drove to the grocery store and when I went to leave, my brakes completely gave out! I could not stop at all and crashed into the curb scraping the side of my car.

Thankfully this happened in a parking lot and not on the highway or while trying to stop at a red light/stop sign, otherwise I could have been killed!

I had the car towed to a mechanic in the area and he showed me what was wrong. Both of the rear wheels had no pads left at all! Metal on metal. Also, the right rear calliper piston seal had completely broke which in turn let all my brake fluid leak out. The rear left side was about to do the same.

I came to Midas specifically for my brakes to be checked and I was told they had ‘lots of life left' when in fact my life was in danger. Now I am left with an $802 invoice, instead of just having new brake pads installed when I came in a few weeks ago.

My question is this; how was this missed when I brought in my car? Brake pads do not wear down that fast. How could I be told the brakes are fine when they obviously were not. Why was I not told about a leak in brake fluid? I could have seriously injured myself and/or others or gotten into a fatal accident.
I will never come back to any location and have warned everyone I know to never trust Midas!

Midas estimate for work to be done

regarding Midas at 231 East Main St., Marlborough, MA: I asked for an estimate on 9/24/18. After putting my car on lift the mechanic tore off the lower catalytic converter heat shield and threw it in the garbage. He did not ask or say he would do that. The store manager said I didn't need the shield. Why did Honda put it there? It is to protect me from a hot catalytic converter that if parked on grass or leaves could start a fire, burn my car and kill me and my family. I got the part back, it is ruined and can't be reattached. Then the manager proceeded to tell me that I needed two mufflers and the pipes up to the converter. I have stainless steel mufflers and they last for the life of the car according to Honda and any reputable mechanic. His estimates are wrong, overcharging and criminal. His personality was very rough and so was his mechanic, nasty people. I checked with Honda and I have to buy both upper and lower, at a cost of $200. Plus $65. to install. I will not go back to the Midas facility. If I am not reimbursed, I will go to small claims court and follow up with numerous reviews of this service online.

Midas brakes

In 2016, I had brake pads installed on the front of my 2008 Jeep liberty at the Manchester, NH store.
Recently, I was having some serious front end issues and contacted the store through their website. The auto reply said that someone would contact me within 2-4 business hours, but didn't receive a response.
I had it towed to a friend who worked for an auto repair center and he agreed to take a look at it.
He informed me that the pads that were installed were a mess and should have not looked like they did in just 2 years. As a result, the rotors and calipers took an awful beating.
As a matter of safety, I was advised not to continue to drive it in its current condition. I agreed to have him replace everything then and there.
I finally received a response from the Midas store stating that they can replace the pads for $249.95 but not the rotors and calipers.
Not acceptable.
Please advise at your earliest convenience.
Thank you

Midas service

I have a 2006 pontiac g6. Went to midas in memphis on sycamore view to get an oil change tire rotation and alignment. After 4 hours of being there they finally got it done. When i went to my car the door lock was broken. Of course none of the employees owned up to it. So the manager tried to brush me off my super glueing the piece. After talking reason with her she agreed to get the part fixed. 2 weeks later she still hadnt contacted me witg the part so i contacted them and somehow they were under new management. The new manager agreed to fix it. That took another 2 weeks for them to get the part. Then i just agreed to leave the car there. So once i finally got the car it had been another week. When i went to pick it up the hinge on that same door wasn't attaching to the car so that the door would. I made them agree to fix that. They said it was probably just a spring that went missing. Now over 7 weeks into this they car calling me telling me i need a whole new door lock aculator which i have to pay 400 dollars for. I am furious. This is something that has never given me problems until then. I need to be compensated some type of way for the time ive spent dealing with these people

I can see why these folks are so upset.. I have a 2002 blazer, 56.000 miles, mint condition. I had my 1st new muffler installed at midas and just recently had my 4th put on. The manager was rude and complaining about the fact they were having to put another one on. I originally told them, unless I had an accident, I would die owning that blazer. lol After the work and a lot of hassle with the new manager getting the right part, I kept having a noise, when I went to my GM Certified mechanic today, he showed me the strap they put on that was causing the noise. The original strap looks nothing like this, appears to be something jury rigged by the mechanic? Now I will need to deal with a rude, ornery manager named Nadine who has no respect for the customer. As it was, it took 3hrs. the 1st day and a return trip 2 days later to get the muffler put on. If you don't want to do it right MIDAS< stop offering the special. Margaret
