We have recently purchased 3 rings from michael hill, first ring, my engagement ring, they told us a price we could have it for, then at the last minute told us it was more, second ring, my wedding band, was ordered to be the same size as my engagement ring, was called and informed my ring was in an ready to collect, i went to collect it an it had not been sized at all, then they sent it to get re sized, when it came back it was too small, It did not fit an I asked for it to be re sized once again, Michael hill wanted me to pay for it to be re sized, when in the beginning they said it would be included in the ring price, it was not our fault they stuffed up on the sizing so I refused to pay, I finally received my ring an did not pay for sizing. Ring 3, my husbands wedding band, we told them exactly what we wanted, as this ring was getting made by there jeweler, we asked for a white gold 9 ct ring that was 8ml by 3ml, they had to ring and get a quote on this ring, n said they would get back to us, a week later we had no phone call so I rang, asked them if they had rang an they had not! They finally did an came back with a quote of 1500 for the 8ml by 3ml, the ring came back made ten days later and was only 8ml by 1ml, which we did not ask for, and we had paid for 8 by 3, we said we wanted a decent amount of money back or our 1ml made too 3ml as we asked for, they said that we would have to pay alot extra for this to get done, which is bull ### as we asked for 3ml from the beginning, Michael hill offered to take $200 off our GE, as this is how we made payment, they said they were doing it that day, two weeks later we rang GE to see if we had been credited $200 and they had not done it! I have never been so disappointed with the service we received and have definately informed everyone I know to never shop at Michael hill!

It either your shopping in the wrong stores or your going in with the wrong attitude. I've been a customer for years and I've never had a problem, Bayshore and St.Laurent are amazing, my mom bought me a ring last Christmas with a missing diamond she brought it back they apologized and replaced it no problem.
Poor st.laurent the girl stood there for fifteen minutes looking up my insurance plan because I'm too disorganized to keep track of the paperwork. FYI she found it and sized her ring for me, took a couple of weeks Christmas and all but it came out perfect.
I don't buy jewelery anywhere else.

I went to the Te rapa Michael hill in Hamilton nz due to a fault in the earring clip that my husband bought me for my birthday. The service I got was shocking ! The employee I who served me her names Sandy has the worst attitude ever I've seen on a customer service representative. I explained to her that my husband bought this last week and I've only started wearing it from the 27/02 coz that's my birthday. And it's the 03/03 and the clip has gone loose. I own so many jewellery and I know how to look after them or to handle them. The comment that comes from her "u pulled it hard when taking it out from the box that's why it went loose" ! Am I ###ed to do that ! I work at a bank and customer service is our first priority but this employees attitude was shocking ! I told her I'm very careful with my jewellery and I think u don't need to tell me bout it. She kept arguing and said she can't see anything wrong when I CLEARLY showed her the issue ! My husband who doesn't know much bout jewellery could see the issue ! And guess what response I get from her - "so what do u want me to do about it" ! Really ! I want u to keep looking at it like a ### u are ! I told her I want it changed or fixed and find me a solution ! She said well if you don't want to tell me what u want we will refund ! Not once did I say about getting a refund ! And that's what I said to her ! And they did not have any in stock but had the sale sign up ! I asked why do u have the sign up then she said well that's not my problem to know coz I'm not the owner or the manger ! She had the audacity to talk back when I'm bloody paying for a product which she gets commission for ! She took my earrings and spoke to the guy in charge and he came really nicely and professionally explained that he fixed the clip part of it. I told him there was nothing wrong at the top clip but it's the bottom joint clip that's loose. Sandy the pathetic employee didn't even give him the right info and assumed her own crap ! Then miraculously the guy comes with another pair of the same earrings and replaced it with mine ! Sandy had not even bothered to check whether they had one on store or any other store which was one of the solutions I had to give her ! Not only that I took in my 2000 bracket to get it resized and buy the lifetime plan on it. I told her I need 4 links out and use that links for earrings and she said no they don't do it. I explained I was told by the employee and the manager who sold me the bracelet that that could be done and their jewellers would call me for a quote on the links but she gave me the disgust look like I'm talking ### ! Anyways the guy in charge somehow managed the whole situation and I liked his service and once the forms and receipts were all signed and sent away for the bracelet, Sandy again had to show me attitude and said don't pull too hard on the earrings coz we know it's the customers fault but we can't directly tell them so just keep that in mind ! I wanted to smash her face in ! How dare she talk like that to me ! I spent so much at Michael Hill in less than a month and the inky reason why I did was coz the lady who sold me the bracelet was so lovely ! But now never again going back to Michael hill and they just lost themselves a customer and none of my family and friends would shop with them ! My sister has spent over 15k in jewellery with them but she's pulling out as well coz of the pathetic service they have ! If u treat customers as royalty they will forever be loyal to you. Don't just show you care for the sale and commission and then treat them like ### when they come back with a fault coz it gives Michael hill a bad name and reading the reviews here just proves it ! Get your staff some training !

My husband bought a $450 pendant for my birthday. We went in and exchanged it for a $120 pendant since I thought $450 was a bit much for an everyday wear pendant. The attitude of the employees on an exchange was NOT positive and more negative also because they said that my husband had purchased the initial pendant at a different store (in pickering). Doesn’t your policy state clearly that we can buy/exchange at any store? OH…well..the employee commission is SO IMPORTANT so instead…you train your employees to make faces instead of focussing on their 1 job… just handling a customer.

Regardless of their snobby attitude, we exchanged the pendant for a cheaper one. The $120 pendant purchased on November 11th broke on Dec 20th.The pearl just fell off! Lucky for me, that I caught the pearl as it just fell off my neck. When I went in to the store, they simply started the conversation with “we will repair it because you have the warranty”. There was no question of how did it break? what happened? i’m so sorry this happened. No. It was more of oh we see this all the time we will just repair it.

When I said, it broke in less than 2 months…what if it breaks again “we will see what to do then. we can’t guarantee it won’t break again if you keep tugging on it”. So let’s give those comments from a pathetic employee some thought. There was no apology for why the pendant broke so quickly instead just an assumption that I sit and tug on pendants as a hobby and will do so again. More so, he kept repeating the same statement with an additional “it doesn’t just break unless you tug on it” till I called him out on it and and asked him to watch his words. Soon, every potential buyer in the store left. NORMAL Human beings don’t sit and tug on their jewellery received as a gift from their husband. Maybe your worthless employees and their spouses and significant others do..people who own jewellery don’t. I own more pendants than your untrained, unprofessional employees have probably seen… but who is to preach to stupid sales people with an attitude?

So, how about a jewellery store learn to teach its employees to stand behind it’s product. When a customer comes in with a clearly defective product, refrain from assuming that everybody (like their pathetic employees) sits and tugs on pendants as a hobby. How about, when I ask you to stand behind your product, don’t accuse me and tell me that I did something to break it within 2 months…how about apologizing for selling me a faulty/poorly built product? How about being willing to offer a refund instead of telling me that because of the 3 year warranty, we can “keep tugging on it and we will keep trying to fix it” and “We can’t return it because it’s not in its original condition”. Well it can’t possibly be in it's riginal condition because you SOLD it to me faulty in the first place. Is this the norm with your store? sell crappy quality with a warranty and then keep trying to repair it? I have NOTHING else to do except go to the store every 3 months to try to get this thing repaired? Is that the assumption?

For the record, my wedding ring was ALSO was Michael Hill. The main diamond fell out of it in about 2 years. We had to return to the store and instead of replacing the diamond, we had to instead spend more money to get a different ring. We tried (unfortunately) explaining to this employee at the Sherway gardens store that we are having a real problem trusting your brand products because of whats happened with the ring in 2013 and now this pendant. His explanation? take a guess ! “ A ring is a different story and it probably fell out because of any adjustments you did”. Yep. YOUR STORE did a size adjustment when we bought the ring. We didn’t do an adjustment on the street by hiring somebody to tug on a $3500 diamond ring! Oh but how would he know? why would he? he is all too pathetic and misinformed about how real humans wear jewellery.

NEVER AGAIN Michael hill. Your products are CRAP. Train your employees to respect other human beings…who walk in and pay you money so that your employees have a job. Train your employees to stand behind the brand and it’s product. Train your employees to respect your own exchange and refund policy without an attitude. Buying jewellery is usually a happy occasion for most people…but your employees only care about making a sale. Dare a customer come in with a complain or with an exchange, it’s over. There is no customer service…they might as well wear a sign on their head that says “we don’t want you in the store”. So far we have referred many sales to this brand including wedding rings, anniversary gifts, birthday gifts for friends and family. How unfortunate for all of our friends that we did that because if ANYTHING goes wrong with any of those thousands of dollar purchases, your employees will make sure that these customers are totally unhappy and regret their decision.

Once I bought a pair of silver earrings from Michael Hill to gift my friend. The sales person served me asked my mail id and contact no and told that I will just get text messages when they have any promotions. I had no issues with it and ended with providing them with my mobile no. After this they kept calling me and kind of forcing me to visit their store and buy jewellery on finance. I repeatedly told them that I don, t need jewellery, but they just kept calling me every time. Its just frustrating and kind of harassment from these guys. So my only request to people who want to buy jewellery never go to MH. The customer service they provide is so cheap and they literally harass the customers to buy.

My finance bought my engagement ring from Michael Hill last Oct. They had called him at work and said that they had just switched their financers and to come in so he did. He was at first declined by TD but approved by Michael Hill. In late November we received a letter from them at our home but still no bill. By the end of December still no bill - we were a little worried but figured that it was due to the new company, and Christmas. They had our address and our phone number. In early Jan we finally called them and they said that our account was past due and they didn't have our address and all our bills had been returned. It turns out that the sales associate that filled out our application filled it out wrong. But our right address was still in the file but no one had bothered to look in there. Michael Hill wanted the 3 months worth of payments up front. Obviously we don't have that money, who does right now? We told them that we could pay an extra 20 every month until it was cleared up. Every single month since then, its now been a year, we get threatening letters and demand letters. We then call and work everything out and then the next month it happens again. Finally yesterday I came home and checked the mail and saw a bill from Michael Hill I opened it and saw that they jacked up our interest to 29.99 percent from 9 percent. I was furious - this is their mistake. Their associate filled out the wrong information including a completely made up phone number - they had long fired her and I am the one getting in trouble for this. My finance called and if we wanted our interest back to 9 percent we had to pay everything still in arrears. Michael Hill must be the stupidest company ever! He bought me an engagement ring.. what comes after that? Wedding bands, anniversary gifts and where will those be purchased NOT Michael HIll. I plan on telling EVERYone my story. I will be handing out flyers outside our local mall and emailng everyone on my facebook account. What happened to customer service?

Mccastle town (Townsville)
very Racist n very unhelpful, I bought a watch few weeks ago n da date was incorrect so went in 2 get da date set ryt bcoz da watch didn't have a booklet, so I saw a necklace abit thicker than da 1 I originally bought from Michael hill, so I asked the lady can I please have a look at da necklace n her reply was its too expensive she can not take it out of the show glass, so anyways she took my watch 2 the manger to set da date, so Once again I asked her can I please have a look at the chain and this time her reply was u need 2 give me ur drivers license if you want to have a look at da chain, so I requested to see da manager named "Daniel", I was told hes very busy he can't see me now, I left da store n I called 2 other stores n they stated that this wasn't a policy they were aware of n that if a customer wanted to see an item they would show it 2 them. I felt like she treated me this way because I was an Indian. It's total discrimination she didn't need to be that rude. To date I have spent over $20, 000.00 at MH I then called the manager Daniel and he said that he stands by his staffs decision and that he agreed with how she treated me. How is it that the manager of the store did not help me? In turn he just lost michaelhill a customer and he gives u guys a bad name.

I try to exchange the ring ($2000)that my husband bought me last night. Once they know I want to return or exchange, nobody want to help me. Finally someone came, and I explained to her, the ring is too expensive I want to get smaller one, cuz we don't make too much money . She said that you need ask your husband come because he pay cash. I am very angry said I need return to get my money back . The guy come out Said he will call security if I don't leave. They literally harass me, this service horrible. I never come to store again. And the ring I wouldn't not wear forever. I will find a way to make complain. Until now I still cry ...

I am still waiting for my engagement ring from Michael Hill Liverpool NSW which I paid a deposit for on 24th January 2015. Due to store stock and online engagement rings having poor quality diamonds at colour HIJ and clarity I2, I request to have their Evermore Certified Solitaire Engagement Ring with a 1 Carat Diamond in 18ct White Gold in a better diamond colour F and clarity VS2 and here I am 4 months later still waiting. Been provided so many excuses from the store like customs has it, Canada sent the wrong one, even telling me store staff flew to QLD head office to find my diamond specifically and Michael Hill himself knows about the time I have been waiting for a good diamond. Overall Michael Hill can not provide good quality diamond in better colour and clarity so no point ordering or waiting, don't pay for the prices they are asking for in their poor quality diamond rings collection as its the same price elsewhere for much better diamonds and service. I am cancelling my order and never buying from Michael Hill anymore!

I want to to tell everyone who takes jewelery for appraisal at michael hill jewellery stores to be aware of the business! I took a man's diamond wedding band for appraisal to insure with my insurance as they told me i had to appraised the ring, i had the details when i bought the ring, the size and details and i kept, so i have all the details of the ring what it weight. What happen in february 10th i took my ring to a michael jewelery store in london ontario canada and give it to an employee at the store, she told me it was a beautiful ring and it had high quality diamonds and it was beautiful one of the kind! I told her that i was afraid to send away if someone would exchange the ring ans she guarantee me no one ever does that. I assure her to make sure of that! It took me 5 weeks to get it back and after me calling them so many times to see what is going on! The problem is the fraud they do at the stores with employees they take this long is for us to forget about how the rings look like after all of that time. After the 5 weeks the employee called me to pick up the ring, when she was give me the receive to pay for the appraisal (I asked her to open the envelope and show me the ring, she assumed i would bring the ring home with out open the package in the store) she had planned if i bring it home with out open that i was the one who switched the ring. As i open the envelope i was choked and told her right there this ring is not the same one? She replied to me you are crazy no one ever switched your ring this one is yours, i heeled and said again this is not my ring! The manager lynn hear us shooting and come along and asked lasalete what is going on here? She said the customer is heeling saying this is not her ring because the ring looks like new and has been polished! I told her but the design is not the same ring< we argued and nothing was resolved. I been complained since and no one is listening to me, someone in the store or the lab who did the appraisal stole my ring and i am saying again stole my ring and bought me a cheaper one not even close to mine the ring is totally different style ring and diamonds, the ring they give me it looks more like a woman's ring i would never bought a ring like this one! So was easy to spot. The employee or the manager knows the truth of waht happened to my ring, but because tehy know no one can fight them they alwas win and they know no one is listening to our complains and the store si a well reputed store no one is going to believe me this was what the employee told me! I already told the manager where i sent an email to the head office in australia complaining and they sent my message to another manager in another store in mississauga ontario this manager called me and he said meme your case has been reviewed and nothing further we can do for you and the ring you have is yours! I am outrageous and very up set and very angry they are crooks and a very scam business they don't care about the customers and i am 100% sure they stole my ring. My ring was 6. 9 g and. 80ctw and the one they give me is 6. 8 g and. 75 ctw mine had high clear diamonds and the one they give me has darker diamonds and mine didn't had a edge stole around and mine didn't had the edge so tell me is not easy to tell the deference ia m not crazy as the employee told me as i believe she stole my ring and bought me a different one. I told i agree to do alie detective test and do the same to the employees so we will get the truth they said i am crazy. What else can i do if they have such of power and can do what ever they want and change our jewellery and we can't do anything about it? I need help anywhere in the world to fight this store? Thanks for reading my story! A very outrageous customer! They could investigate the employees and managers because what they did with me they will do it with more people they know we cannot fight them! I been fighting this with every strength i have and every resource and can't find the right direction yet and i am not going to stop until someone is listening to me!

I brought a Michael hill watch from the kotara store on the 6/09/2013. Been a nice watch but on the 20/01/2014 I went to put my etch on and noticed that the hand dial had popped out. Was not happy. Called the store and was told to return it with receipt and get a replacement. When I went to the store . I wasn't offerd a replacement or even a different watch at the same price. Was told it has to be sent to a repairer. I'm not happy . Should of been offerd a refund as the product was faulty and I can't use it. I will never shop at Michael hill in the future . Bad service guys.

I bought a $2500 watch from Michael hill in Yorktown mall lombard Illinois. I made 2 cash payments then when I proceeded to make a 3rd payment they said I need a Michael hill card which was never given to me. When I said that the woman rudely said, " oh my god". I didn't say anything. So then I asked her why I was never given one? She told me she didn't know and told me I was being very rude for asking these very simple questions. I asked a few more questions to try and understand what the issue was and she continued to yell at me and tell me I was the person who was wrong. She got very angry and aggressive simple because I got confused and wanted to understand what the issue was. Not to mention the entire reason I got upset is because every time I tried asking a question she interrupted me and told me I was rude and wrong. I just want to make a payment and in return this how I am treated as your customer? This is the worst customer service I have gotten at any store in my entire life. I will never shop at Michael hill again because the service is worse than poor, it was horrible. The woman named "patra" was the woman who gave me this horrible service. Again, Yorktown mall, lombard, Illinois, 60148 zip code. That is the location of the store I went to.

You bought a watch from them? Michael Hill is not a watch brand. They just make some cheap watches in China and sell under their name. You could have gone for a proper watch brand like Tissot or any other Swiss brands for that money.

purchased set pf ear rings quoted retail 700 reduced to 545 checked around different shops to buy for 420.00 this was good. they said they would send a receipt to my house later, which I thought strange. I didnt want extended warranty, however when receipt was sent they valued the ear rings at 350 plus 70 for ext warranty. now cant insure earrings for the value I paid, they still haven't got back to me.
They can stick there business where it hurts the most, wont ever catch me again.

I will never buy from Michael hill again! I got my wedding ring from keysborough and when it finally arrived it wasn't the correct fit for my engagement ring! Keysborough refused to fix the problem and never once returned my calls, when I did call the so called manager kept hanging up on me!
We took it to southland and they admitted that it wasn't the correct ring and said they will fix the problem. It's been 7 weeks since I don't have my rings and its getting quite annoying' never again Michael hill!

I visited one of there stores hands down fantastic customer service from the location i was at. I bought a ring and a necklace. Well i was looking at the ring and it was quite thin in the band. The ring was hollowed out a little bit in 10c gold and it had a half c in clustered diamonds. I was looking at jewlery stores around the mall i was at and ended up getting alomst the same ring with a bigger centre diamond still half c worth of diamonds for $400 cheaper and it was 14 c gold. Value wise i believe there are much better rings out there then michael hill.

my partner had my engagement ring on layby in the south city store in christchurch. when the earthquake hit on 22nd feb my ring was under lockdown in the central city cordon area. after a couple of weeks owners had been allowed into their premises and my layby was sent out to the hornby store and that i could collect it, so delighted my engagement ring had survived the earthquake i pik it up that afternoon. i was told by them that their computer system wasn't compatible with those from south city and would need to get hold of them to get my diamond certificate. i asked them at the time if i had ta get it sized then or could i do it later and they said that wouldn't be an issue. i contacted south city on monday to organize getting the certificate and sizing done. the girl said she would post out my diamond certificate but if i wanted my ring sized that it was gonna be at an extra cost to me, the girl i spoke to was meant to ring me back to confirm they had the right address to post it out to and im still waiting to hear back from her and the certificate hasn't yet arrived in the mail. im rather disappointed that my engagement ring didn't even come with a box and nor has it been sized, which to me personalises the whole significance of getting engaged. i love my ring but i do think that a gift of this nature, that the sizing would be included in the purchase price, cos i was always lead to believe by the staff who helped us find just the right one, that it would be made to fit me once the full purchase price had been paid?

My fiance just purchased my ring from Michael hill and well there are some major flaws in the diamond... I have contacted customer service and well lets just say they are useless... I will never buy from michael hill again.. I am going to purchase a new diamond for my ring from someone else and buy the wedding band from somewhere else.. They have such crap diamonds!
