All ### ! Every mertopolitan college is closed after taking your money. No credit i transferable either...

TULSA, Okla. Students at Metropolitan College in Tulsa say they're shocked by the sudden announcement that the college is shutting down immediately.
The students say school officials announced the closing yesterday and gave no reason for the decision. Metropolitan is a private, nonprofit college offering bachelor's and associate degrees in field that include paralegal and court reporting. It had 49 students at the branch in Tulsa.

Metropolitan College was placed on probation in June by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology. Commission director Elise Scanlan declined to say why the school was put on probation but says Metropolitan decided to shut down instead of working to regain accreditation.

Metropolitan closed campuses in Phoenix and Kansas City, Missouri, earlier this year but still operates branches in Oklahoma City and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I'm as frustrated as all of you. After paying $40k I'm student loans because of that school I have to go back to school and it's like passing a bill through congress to get your transcript- if you can get it, which I have not been successful with yet. I have tried a few routes that you have suggested but the numbers are disconnected and the state can't help as much as they've tried. Even Texas has tried to help me! Can any of you tell me if you gotten transcripts lately and how you did it? If you have, could you even use the credits?

If you contact the Wyandotte tribe directly you can get your transcript at no charge. Ask for as many as you want sealed and they will send those with one for you too.

I went to the "mall campus" in OKC 2002-04. They were horribly unorganized. Teachers quit. Some were really cool. I never needed mine until recently and when i opened them i was so shocked that they had given me an F in a class THEY had to cancel due to the instructor quitting. You can plainly see that i took it later and made an A. Its super dumb..anyhoo just FYI you can only get a student loa discharged when a school closes if you were enrolled at the time the doors actually closed. They are federal loas. You are on the hook till they are paid OR if youre on a certain payment plan based on income (really low payments) they will discharge in 20 years. You just have toremember to redo your repayment plan with Nelnet (whoever) every year. This would not let me put the word here for borrowing $ so thats the reason for the misspellings

Metropolitan College made promises that they couldn't or wouldn't keep, they stated that they would help with job placement, they did not and where did my student loans and pell grants go that I applied for? I have no clue, I never saw a dime of that money and that was supposed to help with my living expenses as well as my college funding. I'm a single mother and needed help. I did not need to be defrauded in this way. What were all of the extra fees that cropped up to take the rest of the pell grants and student loans that I now have to pay back? as for my transcript it took them forever to get it to me and then I was told that they couldn't be used because they didn't transfer. Why in Hell hasn't anyone started a class action lawsuit to get the students money back? I am trying to re-educate myself and because of their embezellment my credit is ruined and I can't get any student loans or grants to help me in this endeavor. What can we do to fix this issue? or Are all of the students that went to Metropolitan College just out of luck because of the actions of some greedy people? If there has been a lawsuit against Metropolitan College and the Wyandotte Corporation, the name of the Prosecuting Lawyer would be a very good thing to share with the rest of us so that hopefully we can get the student loans expunged off our credit record by having them pay them back to us. If anyone knows that information please pass it on. Thank You.

I'm about to have a nervous breakdown. I went to school there in 2005 and while on medical leave, the school shuts it's doors and vanishes. I never recvd one letter or phone call explaining the situation. I'm a single mother who did not have the money to finish up else where. I now have this hanging over my head and my credit is destroyed. my loan has gone into default. I'm currently unemployed and living w/family to get by. I will never be able to stand on my own feet again till this is resolved. I don't know what to do, where to turn. If you went to school there and in the same boat as me... what can I do? Please respond. I can't deal with this any longer.

I have been successful in getting my transcripts, but all for nothing. The credits are not transferable. (Sigh)! back to square one, but this time I am getting my bachelors degree. Starting from scratch, but nothing I can do about it. Call Wyandotte in Wyandotte Oklahoma. They have a website of http://www.wyandotte-nation.org/contact.html
I called 5 different numbers and left voice messages but someone did finally call me back and had my transcripts sent to the college I am now attending.

If you live in Arizona and have questions or concerns in regards to Metropolitan College, you can contact the Arizona Board of Private Postsecondary Education. The board was present when the school closed and provided answers to questions on refunds for students that had not graduated prior to the school closure. I have contected the board several times for transcripts and a they are a verification method for employers as well. Some schools do take the Metropolitan transfer credits and you will need transcripts to prove your education. I know this because I am attending graduate school and the school verified my education prior to enrollment.

What earthly good is a transcript if the school in Phoenix, with no notice whatever, closed its doors mid-semester in the middle of the educational program? The community college here will not accept any credits from the damn school anyway and my daughter had to start from scratch, so I reiterate, what good is a transcript?

And why should she have to repay student loans made to the defunct institution?

Also, I have called Kimberly Harner's number and it is only a recording telling you where to get your transcript, with no option to leave a message in case you have other questions. Bah. This whole thing has been a nightmare and so far, nobody has made anything real easy. I have been trying to contact this Wyandotte institution for two years and found nothing until this thread on this site.

I attended Metropolitan Tulsa Campus and graduated with an Associate Degree in Paralegal in 2005. I quit to have my daughter and when I returned in April 2006 I found out that the college had closed so I went to University of Phoenix and am currently one class away from my Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice, but I cannot get a transcript from Metropolitan or Wyandotte and therefore I can not graduate. I am furious and have contacted every OK board of Education, the Attorney General, and Secretary of State, they told me Wyandotte has a certification of good standing as a Inc. and therefore we can complain enough to make them investigate. Also I have Kim Harnars email address she is the lady at Wyandotte that holds the records for Metropolitan. Her email is kharnar@wyandotte-nation.org and her number is [protected]. Maybe if we ban together we can make a change in all of our situations. I am starting to look into the tribal courts and tribal resources for help.. Please post if you have any additional information.
This is injustice and we can find a way to fix it.

I agree with you all and I have emailed the school for my transcript as well. After attending two semesters, I was called in the Deans office for spreading rumors about their accreditation. Shortly after, I left in 2004 for an accredited University. Although the University I was attending only accepted 2 out of a 3 credit course which left me repeating a course for only one credit. I am currently applying for my masters at another University and they require all transcripts, so I too have a dilemma. This has been a learning experience, I will tell anyone "leave those little technical/so-called trade schools alone". They are only out for the money and then they leave. Good luck to you all.

I am also trying to get my transcripts. I graduated in September of '05 with an Associates degree and cannot get any transcripts. I have contacted the Bettina Falwell, Manager, Institutional Compliance at ACCSCT. She has had no luck in getting any answers from the Wyandotte tribe. They are the ones who owned Metropolitan College. This is Bettina's email address - bfalwell@ACCSCT.org. Here is her address, phone number, and website - ACCSCT, 2101 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 302, Arlington, VA 22201, Tel: [protected], Fax: [protected], http://www.accsct.org.

I do not feel that I should have to pay for an education that I cannot prove I have. I have my diploma (which anyone could create) and some honor roll awards. I have been deferring my NelNet payments for some time now.

A friend of mine works for Higher Education and she feels that the Wyandotte tribe may use their status as a tribe to get around having to supply any transcripts.

I feel like it is a hopeless situation and really do not know what to do next. Maybe if enough people complain to Bettina at ACCSCT then action will finally be taken.

Good luck and let me know if you get your transcripts and if you do, how you got them.

I graduated from this school with an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies in 2002. I knew towards the end of the program that I had potentially made a grave mistake in enrolling there. The staff was unreliable, unorganized and unqualified to be teaching anything. The "dean" who was an attorney, was cited for professional misconduct by the Oklahoma Bar Association, and the director basically was a bag of wind that told you what you wanted to hear, and could easily have been a used car salesman. The school was inside a mall for god's sake! Now that I am attempting to return to school, I cannot seem to locate anyone to obtain copies of my official transcripts. When you call the number provided on the internet to obtain any documentation that you ever attended the school, you get a message saying that the number is used for messages only and is checked "once a week". After leaving two messages, I have yet to receive a return call. I followed up with an email and to date have received no response whatsoever. I have concerns that my social security number and all my personal information is sitting somewhere in a box at someone's house for anyone to look at. I am on the vurge of filing a lawsuit. The students have been lied to about the school's credentials and being accredited, and received no warning whatsoever that there were issues before being told to go home and not being refunded their money. I WANT MY ###ING TRANSCRIPTS NOW!
