Metro Toronto Social Services — Abusive behavior and bad services.
While we are in the Metro Toronto self-employment program, we got our new baby, called the office of Malvern, provided, all docs and showed the baby in person, still the baby’s name was not added in our file. Talked to worker and other people, investigator, and faxed request to the supervisor, still not added, as a result getting less money.
This month, in December, no pay. Called the worker, on vacation, didn’t leave a note for others – told by the harsh reception. Transferred to a backup worker…got a VM left message, no reply. They never give out their names, work like thieves.
Some said, ‘the city has introduced a new computer system, which is very difficult to understand.’ Crooks dictate the dopers. Every time you will get different replies on the same issue. And how nice it is to shrug off a bumbled out immigrant!!!
Called back several times, received abusive, disrespectful and harsh behavior – clearly against Ontario Human Rights codes. Specially one non-white receptionist around 38 years of age, may have an Indian connection, so rude and abusive, doesn’t even follow 10% standard of call quality matrix. But she is still in the job because the office manager is stupidly incompetent and city councilors are busy with re-election win and personal portfolio. After last 48 hours experience, we believe this office has become a torture chamber. And we are in a limbo during the holiday season.
If you are new immigrants and you don’t have enough money, don’t come to Toronto to settle, because, during a bad patch of your life, if you are on a social welfare roll, you may be extremely frustrated and lose your peace of mind.
