Merry Maids - The cleaning service

On October 12 I hired merry maids for an easy move out cleaning. After three hrs. At $140.00 an hr they claimed they were done and leaving. Upon inspecting the home. Keep in mind no furniture is in the house to have to clean around left me wondering what was actually done for three hrs? Countertops were dirty, floors had yet to be mopped. Windows were left...

Merry Maids - Theft of items from my home by merry maids employees

3 items were stolen from my home by Merry Maids employees (the only people to enter my home besides myself). This is a huge violation, and one that I would have thought the company would also be concerned regarding, but this was not the case. Complaint placed with Merry Maids local representative (Deborah Goslin). Debbie was not interested in information...

Merry Maids I can't get my check, I've asked and asked

Hello my name is Rylila Mae Luther I use to work for Merry Maids in Flagstaff AZ. My boss was Katie Wilson. I had my mother Tamara Yazza to pick up check and send to me but she never did.So I had to go to rehab in Pheonix AZ and when I left and moved to Phoenix ive asked my mom and Katie about my check they seem to ignore me. I've asked Katie Wilson if she could print me out a new one and send my way? But she never got back at me about anything. I'm not sure if my check has been cashed without my permission. I hope that didn't happen. I tried being patient with getting my check and going about it the nicest way. So im hoping I can get my money that I worked for through it this way. I think my last day was July 6, 2023 I know I made about $680.00 that week. I do have an address it can be sent which is 6733 E. Main street Mesa, AZ 85205 and if you need to contact me [protected] anything else you need let me know through email. Thank you for your time and I hope I get this resolved.

Desired outcome: I just want my check plus what I worked for Wasa hard day that day.

Merry Maids Worst service ever from Merry Maids New Rochelle

Good Afternoon,

My mother needed to have her apartment cleaned, we searched through (Angie's list) and Merry Maids of New Rochelle contacted us. My mother paid $ 120.00 to Angie's list for the cleaning up front. For some unknown reason, Merry Maids was able to intercept the request, called us and scheduled the cleaning for Monday Oct 5 at 11AM. We were under the impression that they got our info through Angie's list and they never said otherwise. The Rep told us that it would be $ 135.00. He requested a $ 100.00 deposit (That he said they wouldn't withdraw right away BUT THEY DID) I explained that I already paid $ 120.00 to Angie's list. Figured we were fine and paid up. I went to wait with my mother at her apartment on that day until the cleaning crew arrived. I called 3 times and they finally arrived an hour and half late. Arrived at 12:25pm and left at 2:55PM. Merry Maids harassed my mother by telephone for an entire week after that date and took $ 305. 00 from the credit card. That's a total of $ 505.00 for one lousy cleaning job and now they have refused to answer our calls. The floors are still dirty and not cleaned. Do not use this company, they are rude & dishonest.

Desired outcome: REFUND

Merry Maids Bullying and threats from local Merry Maids manager Monica Neff

My name is Kami Robey, I live in League City, Texas and have used Merry Maids since November 2019. I would like to lodge a complaint about one of the managers/boss, Monica Neff, at the South Houston office for the following reasons:

Yesterday, April 20, 2021. I received a phone call from Roy, who works at the South Houston Office, informing me that my regular cleaner, Kerry Gooch, was no longer working for them and wanted to know what I wanted to do..if I wanted to pause my service until he could find a suitable replacement. I told Roy that I was having some health issues I had to deal with at this time and did not feel like having anyone new come into my house during this, so I decided to stop my service at that time and told him we could revisit once I had my issues resolved. Roy was extremely cordial, thanked me and hung up. I thought the issue was resolved.

About two hours later Monica Neff, who I assume is one of the managers of this office, called, told me she was sorry that I had decided to leave Merry Maids. and then she asked if I had hired my regular cleaner to work for me, I was taken aback, especially since I had no knowledge of Kerry's departure until Roy had informed me of it, but I answered her and said "No". In my opinion that should have been the end of the story. However, it was not.

Ms. Neff made what I can only describe as a disbelieving sound showing clearly that she didn't believe my answer, and began talking about it was a good thing I hadn't because they could take legal action if I had. When I said "Legal action against whom?" because I have no contract with Merry Maids, she said "Kerry". I told her that was something that was between her and Kerry and had nothing to do with me. Again that should have been the end of the discussion, but it was not. Ms. Neff continued to endlessly go on about legal actions that could be taken and how I had liked other cleaners whenever they couldn't send Kerry so it was strange to her that I suddenly didn't want anyone when, she named two names, had worked fine before. I raised my voice, because she refused to stop talking and listen to me, and said "But those people no longer work for you" she made a noise in her throat and then back to legal action.

Finally I told her as she was about to hang up, that I had something to say, and then told her that I felt like I was being threatened. She assured me that wasn't the case, but once again went back to legal actions. I then told Ms. Neff that I'd made my decision about Merry Maids and my continuing with them. That I would NOT be continuing on with them as my cleaning service. And then I hung up.

I want to speak to someone about this because not only do I feel threatened by Ms. Neff's actions yesterday, I feel bullied. I have used Merry Maids since November of 2019, in that entire time, I have not once called and complained about anything, the only time I called to discuss something with them was when I asked that from that point forward, that only Kerry be sent to my house. I pay on time and have given sterling reviews, so for Ms. Neff to call me and treat me that way rocked me to my core.

Also I want to speak to someone, because I feel that Ms. Neff is blinded by some vendetta she has against Kerry, and I'm afraid she's wanting to cause her problems by making up bogus claims against her. In the entire time Kerry Gooch worked in my home, she was always pleasant, fun to be around. She not only gave 100% but she gave 150% when she was here. She treated me with kindness, respect and dignity. She also treated everyone in my house the same way. She never once complained if a room was messier than normal, she just smiled and cleaned it. Kerry also looked after my personal welfare, the day I told her I had back issues that required treatment, as she walked out of the front door of my house to leave, she saw my groceries had been delivered and refused to let me carry them myself. That, to me, goes above and beyond of what she had to do, and not only looks good for her, but for the company as a whole. While I do not know why Ms. Gooch quit, I can't help but think that if Ms. Neff has no problems in treating a paying customer like dirt, then she must treat her employees worse.

Please have someone call me to discuss this, my husband is furious about my treatment yesterday and is discussing legal options with our attorney. I do not want to go that route if I do not have to.

My number is [protected]. I hope to hear from you soon

Desired outcome: I would like someone to call me to discuss this.

Merry Maids merry maids

I first spoke to the local manager whose name is Sam. This was about two weeks ago. He was a little rough on the phone to say the least, and it felt a little shady because he wouldn't really give details, but kept promising they were the best. Boy was he wrong. I came down with the flu and called him 72 hours before my appointment to see if I could reschedule. He had asked for a credit card number over the phone when I first scheduled the appointment. Can said it was just to secure the appointment and then I can pay by cash or check if I wanted to. When I told him I really need to reschedule for health reasons he told me he was going to charge me half the fee for having to reschedule. I begged him not to and he finally said that if I would reschedule within a week he would not charge me half the fee but if I had to reschedule again he would charge me the whole fee. Keep in mind that he quoted me $230 for first time cleaning on a 900 square-foot apartment! He was such a bully on the phone and so incredibly rude it was honestly scary. I was afraid not to comply. When I ended up stuck in a snowstorm out of town and unable to return in time for the rescheduled appointment, I called and apologized profusely. He screamed at me on the phone that this was his business and that he needed to make money. He told me he didn't care about my travel plans that he had a business to run was going to charge my card for the full amount regardless of whether or not I could be home for the appointment. This man should not be allowed to speak to people or be in business. He is absolutely a bully, Shady, and should be fired immediately. I went on Yelp and needless to say the reviews reflect everything I am writing here. I also talked to one of the tenants in my building about this situation and they told me they have the exact same problem with him. I reported him to corporate and will continue tell my story and warn people so that they too will not be bullied by Sam and make the same mistake I did. I wouldn't trust anyone working for him to be in my apartment. I would not feel safe and I would have concerns for my well-being. Anyone who was associating with him should not be unsupervised anywhere.

Merry Maids management

Favoritism of certain employees, unprofessional, employees treated poorly, and being picked on. Stressful, employees being threatened to be fired if they don't work to the brink of almost passing out. When you work hard and customers are satisfied with your work performance, certain coworkers will cause trouble for you on the job. Too much drama and backstabbing just to be number one employee making more money to have their name on a bulletin board...(hateful competition). It's not about the work put in or customer satisfaction to certain employees. No wonder there is such a high turn over in employees at this company.

Merry Maids unethical behaviour

Thought your corporate office should be award that one of your staff members from the Gainsville, Florida location has some very serious issues going on which should be brought to your attention. To make a long story short, myself and several others walked off the job today and one supervisor was told to go home, also due to the abhorrent attitude & behavior/and lack of respect to workers by one of your local supervisors/manager/... Named: "Josh Brune" (for the Gainesville, Fl office location) for the past two days. (I would never again work for Merry Maids if I had to be under the supervision/management of..."Josh"). He displayed various behaviors that would be consistent with someone under the influence of drugs. He was even overheard speaking with another worker about the use and purchase of cocaine. To make a long story short ...Please Drug Test This Guy Before He Caused Any More Harm To Your Company And The Company's Name Brand. It really would help you to understand what is going on with this person. (And maybe help him to receive the help he needs). Thank you.

Merry Maids wall cleaning

I had Merry maids in Kennewick wa come in and clean the walls of a very small house for me. My dad just passed away and he was a smoker and I needed the walls cleaned .I booked the appointment in the office where the gentleman told me it was $45 per hour and there would be 2 ladies cleaning the house. This sounded like it was $45 for both of them, I later found out if was $45 each. I scheduled for 2:30 wed the 1st of may. I got a call later saying they would be there at 1:30 so I left work early that day to be there by 1:30 when they said they would arrive. At 2:00 they still had not arrived so I called the office when I was told" yea they will be there at the original 2:30 appointment, sorry they didnt call". At 3:30 nobody had arrived and I called again and was told they would be there within 5 minutes. I completed the kitchen in the time I was waiting for them so the ceilinhg is the only part of the kitchen they did, they missed half of the hall and left the walls very streaky. I have had to go back over the walls with clorox wipes and remove streaks they left behind. The service was extemely poor and I feel I was overcharge due to being misled during scheduling. I will never be using Merry Maids again for any service and am extremely disappointed in the quality of their work. I could have mopped the walls like they did and saved myself $360 dollars and most likley got better results.

Sincerely

Carie Starke

Merry Maids cleaning service

I asked Merry Maids in Sioux City Iowa to come clean for me on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It was late notice so I was surprised they said yes. Two people came to clean as usual, two I that had not ever cleaned for me before. I asked them to focus on the kitchen floor, and also I had a note (the same note I usually have and ask them to check off the list when done). The kitchen floor was barely cleaned with stains still on it--visible stains. Nothing was even dusted, no rugs were shaken and no trash cans were emptied. Basic stuff! The note was completely ignored. I wasn't sure they even read it. After a 5 minute look around I wasn't even sure what they did! while they were there! I was told they would clean for an hour at $114 per hour. I was there when they came, did an errand, came back 40 minutes later and they were leaving. They already had pocketed the $114. I called and complained about the work almost immediately after I saw what little they had done. Got no response and they cashed the check right after the holiday. HORRIBLE. I called them again (always get the answering machine) and still no reply back. Will not use them again and will make sure this is posted to social media unless I get some kind of restitution.

Merry Maids customer service

I have never been handled so impersonally by an office staff. We set up cleaning for my 83 yr old mother who has memory issues.
They got our info and card number and from then on it went downhill. Neither time did they let us know IN TIME when they were coming to clean. Before we signed up we had specific instructions to talk to us and tell us the cleaning schedule so we could remove my mom from house while it was cleaned. It upsets her about not being clean. Her memory is terrible and it's hard for her to host strangers without one of us present.
The first clean they just showed up at 8am and not one advanced call. I had out of town guests so I ran down there to moms apt while cleaners waited.
The second time I get a frantic text from mom, while I'm coming home from Seattle to Portland "Come get me, cleaning lady's here" I was on freeway. They said they tried the day before to call...but being out of town the message reached me late and was unaware of it until arriving home. I would've told them to wait because Im out of town. I reach home today and a text shows up that cleaning team has finished. I was furious that they think they can enter a senior citizens home without following specific. Instructions of family. On top of that, we have a big family wedding function this weekend and would've declined the price of clean for a few weeks. Total communication breakdown on their part. I canceled service. Do not recommend them. Once they get your money card info...good luck.

Merry Maids unauthorized credit card charges

This complaint regards over $4 thousand in unauthorized charges to my credit card by Merry Maids of Alexandria (Virginia). I have reported this without getting any reimbursement to date.

I would like full reimbursement, the legal 17% interest according to VA law.

After almost two months with my detailed, charge by charge, documentation created working with my bank, I have still no moneys - adding to harm and stress.

BACKGROUND

In 2015/2016 I was laid up, debilitated by a car accident. I hired Merry Maids of Alexandria to clean for me. After the first cleaning, each cleaning cost $140. After a total of six cleanings, I stopped the service. Those charges we re made to my Credit Card A.

As my rehab has progressed, I have been able to review my accounts carefully. I found, on Credit Card B, an odd series of periodic charges for 18 months! Digging further, I saw "Merry Maids" but was puzzled. I knew they had not cleaned my house in over 18 months. Moreso, the card was not the one I had authorized. Working with my bank, I confirmed it was indeed the same Merry Maids of Alexandria. This process took me one week.

I informed Merry Maids of Alexandria of these fraudulent charges. As usual, the front office was lovely. Because of how caring they can be (even when the cleaning crew was not so great), I just couldn't believe this was intentional on their part. It had to be a mix up. So I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt. That was two months ago!

My documentation was precise and clear. I provided bank statements with clear codes and links to this franchise, and also an excel spreadsheet organizing it for them. Week after week, there were promises to be done which were broken with more time requested. I have been told they did track this back to one who also did not notice the error. I have been told, after that, that there are all sorts of delays in confirming charges, researching, getting documents. It makes no sense. I am beginning to think they are delaying or just trying not to pay.

This sum of over $4, 000.00 is critically important to me. I am still recovering and even the stress of managing this is undermining my ability to move forward on other things.

I want a refund. In full. With Virginia applicable 17% interest. I will not ask for, reserving rights to do so in the future, credit card interest or other damages. If I move this into Virginia District Court I will include the cost to date - and going forward - of legal counsel. I will move to court lawsuit in September, but this is really not warranted. There is no doubt or interpretation of facts involved.

Attachments: The PDFs of all statements are voluminous. See the franchise for copies.

Merry Maids unauthorized charges and unethical behaviour.

I recently had merry maids come clean a home we just bought.
First they had someone go through the house and create a detailed quote. They it would cost between $350 and $480.
I first had to give them a $150 deposit.
They were to clean the home the next monday.
That did not happen as they must have been there a total of one hour but managed to charge me another $980 on my credit card.
They were supposed to finish that friday.
But no, they did not come back until saturday which completely ruined our day.
When leaving they stated that the office would get in touch with me to discuss charges and possible discount due to inconvenience.
No call but they did manage to charge another $385 to my cc.
Fyi that is well over $600 collected now.
I called to complain about the unauthorized charges and lack of completeness in their cleaning just to be told that they already gave me a $100 discount, really, and that they would not come back and finish the job without charging me even more. Very unethical and borderline fraudulant!
Btw, the tops of the laundry room cabinets still had a 1/4" of dust on them and they did not dust the niches in the living room. Also the top shelves of bedroom shelves were not dusted and the stone of the fireplace is still a dusty mess.

Merry Maids Unethical behaviour

This is absolutely disgusting and unprofessional!
This woman works for merry maids Bel air MD office, how she has a job is beyond me really. And to think of worse incidents that have/could have happened to others. She drops the toothbrush in a bucket of cleaning solution and then posts on Facebook when someone asks what she did after she replies dried it off and put it back like its some kind of sick joke.

Merry Maids Totally disgusted!!

Do not use this terrible service! I had the worst experience in my life and these scammers Merry Maids refused to do anything about that. Their nasty support said that I was too emotional.
First of all the person who came to clean my house was 1 hour late and there was no way the find where she was. Because of that the whole thing took longer than I expected. And the second part that woman broke my vase! Yes, that was an accident but item was broke and I can't just forget about that. They said that was nothing special and that was just a vase. Just a vase? My father got it from his father and then my family got it. It was important for our family. Are you kidding me? I will report these guys and they will pay for what they did! Totally disgusted!

It seems that all the complaints I have read are all offices owned by the same people 4-clean. They are the most dishonest people you will ever meet. They treat employees like garbage and demean you while calling themselves Christians. Honestly, if you live in the Boca, Ft. Lauderdale, Coral Springs, Parkland Area do not use Merry Maids, Pinnellas, Memphis no better.

Merry Maids They didn't warn me about their arrival

OMG. I filled the form on the website www.merrymaids.com. I really thought that they would call me before they would come to my house. I was shocked to see them in the early morning and it was strange that no one warned me about them. Also, when I emailed them, the staff avoided me and hasn’t replied to my emails at all. They have real problems with the communication and it really complicates the situation.

Merry Maids theft of money

On 8/29/12 Merry Maids in Goodrich, MI came to my home for an initial cleaning. A theft of $600.00 was soon realized and a police report filed. After 2 months investigation, during which one of the 3 crew members was uncooperative with the police, the theft could not be PROVEN. The employee in question was new to Merry Maids, in her probationary period, and a relative of another employee in the local office. The police stated to me that they believed she took the money but could not elicit a confirmation from her of the theft. The Corporate office, of course, sided with this new probie...I never got any benefit of doubt. Their marketing material would have the Customer believe that you are protected from such occurrences because they are INSURED & BONDED...don't believe it ! I never got any of my money back. I guess Customers aren't important to Merry Maids ! I wonder where they would be without them.

Merry Maids The truth from an employee/bad service

I previously worked for the merry maids in East ridge and would like to tell the truth about what really happens behind the doors... First off the boss Bill Bowers is very rude and has been described by other companies to be unprofessional and "crazy". Bill has no concern as to if your house gets done correctly as long as he doesn't have corporate called on him. He is never at the office until 11 or 12am unless someone is in trouble or if corporate is visiting. He will promise customers the same maids and the same time schedules but it usually does not happen. When it comes to talking to him he yells and does not want to listen to anything the employees have to say. His answer for everything is "you work for me not merry maids". I have had a few times i was sick and could not work and he called me a liar just because i didn't have the money to go to the hospital to bring him a "sick" note. We have had a woman working during the tornadoes and her car was hit and he offered no compensation for her loss even though she was on the clock when it happened. Every woman there is scared to take a stand because of the threat of losing her job well i am no longer afraid. The secretary has a hard time with English so she can not complete a lot of the paperwork her position requires her to do. When we go the houses to clean since the secretary and bill have a hard time communicating we have no idea what has been promised to the customer. We have a sheet to guide us thru what has been decided but we still talk to the customers to make sure and most of the time our paperwork ends up being wrong. I have been late to many houses due to wrong directions or the wrong address being wrote down on my paperwork. Over half the houses we do only the bare minimum is done. The only customers that truly get their houses cleaned properly (at least better than the rest) are the ones that have called corporate or the office to complain. People should be able to trust the maids in their houses but we have had maids that steal work for this company it is a shame but due to this offices ethics and lake of morals i am forced to leave. i can not see another customer ripped off or another employee talked down the way they do.

Merry Maids Rude Billing Department

My complaint is with the billing department. They threatened to file criminal charges against me for an outstanding balance. They claim that they tried to contact me to settle the outstanding balance. I checked my voice mails and emails, they had not contacted me regarding this debt, after we last spoke about it two months prior, at which time they said I should call them when I was able to pay. I appreciated that kindness. This debt is my responsibility, and I have since made good on a payment plan with them. However in their efforts to collect they treated me like a criminal fleeing justice, and with all due respect, I think that this is unprofessional on their part.

for the rude billing dept problem, nobody can threaten you for an outstanding bill that is illegal, you as a consumer have rights, please see the web site that has collections protocol.
