My credit card number was being used to make unauthorized charges. The purchases at Sears, Radio Shack and Walmart were authorized through MERCOLACOMH (Dr. Mercola sells vitamins online). Mercola charges $1 per transaction to verify that there are funds available on the credit card. They are aiding credit card thieves who use stolen credit card information to make purchases.
My bank blocked my credit card after 10 (ten) such authorizations in a row were made on the same day.
Merchants should not allow vitamin shops to authorize credit card purchases and help thieves run up thousands of dollars in purchases!
Dr. Mercola's number is: [protected].

I agree with rr1234, it's not usually the merchant that is at fault (although they could often do a better job of identifying mass attempts out of the norm). It's the fraudsters that are to blame, not the merchants...usually! :-)
It's possible that someone who obtained your card illegally just used that site to "test" your card. This happens all the time with legitimate websites, vending machines, and gas pumps. The fraudster is the one testing your card on legitimate sites before racking up hundreds or thousands of dollars of fraud.
