I was sold advertising by this company on the promise that my advert would be appearing daily to 20, 000 local nhs staff who HAVE to use their intranet pages daily to use other services, not just sitting on a hidden page. Since the service 'started' in september I have not had one single enquiry, and neither do i believe my advert is ever seen - I have had people who work for the local nhs check the pages and they cannot find my ad anywhere despite looking for it.

No where has ever heard of these 'gold cards' and from what I can see it is just very clever salesman tactics preying on small businesses in a recession.

Like many others I've tried calling the head office many times but constantly get an answerphone message and no letters are ever responded to.

Hi, anyone reading this did it happen around the Wantstead area in East London? If so don't pay, simple as that. Total scam. Tried bullying us into paying, that Julian Black is a total utter con artist.

I have just had a call from this company and although I was suspicious (was rushed into making an appointment, caller wouldn't give me any contact details or send any correspondence in writing) I did agree to an appointment in a week's time, knowing that would give me time to come home and do some research. Thanks for all your comments, you have confirmed my suspicions! I have emailed to cancel and also called them back (they did answer the phone and said "leave it with me") but I suspect that won't be the end of it and I may receive further calls to ask why I'm cancelling - or worse, their rep may just turn up on the doorstep next Thursday! Will post if I hear anything further.

Hi, I commented above in January (sgdogtraining) Vicky from HSB is now threatening to start court procedings against me as I have refused to pay them my final payment of £126. Well, actually, I tried paying them to get them off my back but my credit card declined. I asked if its possible for me to pay half now and half next month, but she says everything has to be paid by this afternoon or they will carry on with court procedings. I asked her what does this involve and she wasn't able to give a me an answer.
I am happy that I have come across this complaints board as i can now start taking ideas from yourselves, such as contacting other local businesses who may have been in contacted with HSB and build up my case. I have never been in this sort of situation before, so If any of you have any more advice, i would be much appreciated. I will keep you all updated.

I had a call from a person called Carol and sent over a sales rep named Julian Black. Went through all the sales pitch which we kept asking how much it costs and didn't get to the point. Anyway my wife lost interest after an hour and a half even though Carol said it'll only be half an hour of our time. Luckily she said let us go home and think it over for the night but Julian was persistent that I should sign up on the exclusive so that he won't approach any other shops and we will lose our space. Wow what a relieve it was that tonight I have done some homework. He stated that this scheme has been going on for almost 10 years yet the domain was only registered 27/03/2012 and website up 07/10/2012 LIE!

Was told that there are over 4000 NHS workers in the area who HAVE TO go to this intraweb to check on updates and things LIE!

We played it cool saying that you've checked out our business and seen that we're suitable so please give us tonight to check if you're suitable for us and he said just sign here so that he can reserve the place and since no money has been passed we're not in contract. The page he asked me to sign was 2 pages long with small writing stating that I'm entering a CONTRACt so LIE AGAIN!

Showed a list of participating deals that I (the business owner) is entailed to discounts and it's the normal Madam tusaurds group like legoland, alton towers etc etc where you would get discounts in the normal free metro papers.

I can go on with a million words to encourage people to stay clear and do their homework as I've been scammed before and hate the feeling so wouldn't want anyone else being scammed as well.

Many good advice's above like "NEVER buy from cold-callers" always always think things through and do you due homework on the company before even contemplating on signing anything. Don't take anyone's word as the contract states "any verbal agreement is not subject to contract and the wording of the signed contract is the legal binding agreement"

Unfortunately i have recently been the victim of the healthcare staff benefit scam. Wish there was something i can do. I have tried just not paying them but then they send a threatening letter as mentioned above. By the time i finish paying them it would be almost £800 in total. I am really annoyed at this but feel i have no choice but to pay. I cant wait to get rid of them. I told them i know its a scam but she told me 'if its a scam how come we are partnered with the police?' I asked for evidence but got none.
HEALTHCARE STAFF BENEFITS IS A SCAM DONT SIGN UP NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE OFFER SOUNDS!

Sadly Medic Care are back. They have simply renamed themselves Healthcare Staff Benefits and are simply carrying on as before. What they do is target small businesses, convince them that they will get lots of business by advertising, for a large fee - I paid about £700 - on the Medic care/Healthcare staff Benefits website. The website looks OK as it has lots of other businesses on it. I contacted nearly every business on the website though and found that virtually none of them had had any business inquiries at all after advertising on the site. So the advertising is a complete waste of money. If you are tempted to advertise with them - don't.. You will regret it i can assure you.

I finally did get my money back from Medic Care and as far as I can tell they have gone out of business. So, a good result in the end although it took far longer than it should have done for Medic care to pay up. Anyway, I just hope they don't set up again under a different name and start ripping people off again. I have learned my lesson now. Take my advice - NEVER buy from cold-callers.

My experience of buying advertising from Medic Care Ltd., of 16 Bridgeman Terrace, Wigan, WN1 1TD. Tel. [protected], Fax 612001, email info@mediccarenhs.co.uk, website www.mediccarenhs.co.uk, Facebook page Medic Care ltd. (Company Secretary is Joanne Hampson, Directors are Pamela Beckett and Michael Jeffry Hampson) was not good! I paid them £636 to have my advertisement added to their 'NHS Intranet site' which I was told was constantly visible to all NHS and DVLA staff throughout the country. After 6 months I had not had one phone call, text or email in connection with the advert from anyone working for the NHS or DVLA. So I complained to Medic Care who basically told me that they could never guarantee the response to a marketing campaign. Well, no, but if I had advertised in my local paper for £20 I would have had more response than I got from their 'National campaign'! So I asked for my money back. They of course refused to pay me a penny. I then took them to court. In order to support my defence I contacted over 100 other businesses that are advertised on their website - all of whom told the same story. No leads following the advertising for which they paid up to £1000. I also wrote to my MP, who has been very supportive, and the Secretary of State for Health (Jeremy Hunt) who is trying to stop them using the web domain www.mediccarenhs.co.uk because it contains the letters nhs without the permission of the NHS and therefore, in Jeremy Hunts words (in his letter to my MP dated 19.10.12), "The company has infringed the NHS trademark and the affiliation that this company implies with the NHS is an issue we take very seriously".I won my case because Medic Care failed (were unable to?) offer a reasonable defence. However despite a court order compelling them to pay me they still haven't paid me a thing. Next step is to get the bailiffs in. I am worried that they may have simply shut up shop and run off with our money but their phone still rings and gives their normal message and their website is still, as I type, up and running. I will continue to fight to get my money back. If you want to follow my case please sign up to the Facebook page "Medic care nhs staff discount scheme" which I set up as a forum for people who have been ripped off by these people. And by the way, I now know of dozens of businesses that are also taking Medic Care to court!

I also fell for this, pisses me off, life is hard enough as it is, I only paid 282.00 and the rest was too be paid by standing order which I cancelled thank god, but they have just sent me a letter from their recovery department for the outstanding £354.00 and say court proceedings will follow. Any advice please. I have book marked this page for future use, Thanks for all the comments on here it has made me feel justified for not paying the rest.

This is a scam and avoid at all costs. Do not sign any contract and do not fall for the charming sales reps presentation. The reason they only deal with independant businesses is because they are much easier to con and the bigger companies would not fall for such a scam. This scam is being carried out all over the country and not just in the north so beware.

I really wish i had done my homework on this company before i parted with my money, having read what i have there is no way i would have parted with a single penny.I tried to cancel today only too be told " I have signed the agreement and there was nothing i could do about it, i could take them too court but they havent lost a case yet". Well im sorry Sharon but that is a lie Medic Care ltd has been taken too court and lost on numerous occasions, only takes a few seconds of searching too find this out.I have contacted 20 local buisnesses advertising with them and every one of them said the same thing, they have wasted there money they havent had 1 customer and would not be renewing there advertisement with them and would never recomend them.Hope this helps any future victims.

I am also a victim of this. They said the same thing to me. £636 they asked me for this. No enquiry so far from any clients they promised. I am now asked to pay the next installment otherwise i will receive court order. What a scam and I am going to fight them in court.

I've been contacted by Medic Care. Their approach to me would appear to be identical to your experience. Their sales talk is very appealing but my native instinct prevented me from handing over my cheque there and then. I asked for time so I could research and I'm delighted to find your comment. I'm so grateful you went to the trouble of posting it and warning others - I shall refuse any more contact with them now. Thank you.

We too have signed up to Medic care on Feb 2011, was told the same thing that we would receive bookings from nhs staff as we are situated 10mins from a hospital. I had a phone call from another hotel in Blackpool who wanted to know if we had any business from Medic Care scheme, I informed the gentleman nothing. I was then curious to now if the other business's had received any business. Therefore I went on the Medic Care website and rang most of the hotels. All the hotels confirmed to me that they had not received any business whatsoever. I have rang and spoken to nhs staff and no one has heard of them. This is an elaborate scam which is going undetected. The should be reported to trading standards for false advertising.
