I BROUGHT MY CAR FOR SMALL REPAIR AND NOT ONLY THEY DID NOT FIND THE PROBLEM BUT CREATED A MASSIVE
PROBLEMS FROM WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AND WHEN I DROVE BACK HOME. NEXT DAY I HAD TO GET THE
CAR TOWED TO AN ACURA DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIXED THE INITIAL PROBLEM IN NO TIME WHICH COST ME $160.00
BUT THE PROBLEM THAT WAS CREATED AT THIS GARAGE JAMMED ALL MY BREAKS AND IT TOOK ACURA HRS AND HRS
TO FIX THE PROBLEM YET WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR IN TO BE INSPECTED AT THIS GARAGE THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY
NO PROBLEM WITH MY BREAKS. INSTEAD OF MY BILL BEING $160.00 THE TOTAL REPAIR CAME TO $1, 200.00. I WENT
BACK TO THE GARAGE AND TRIED TO GET SOME COMPENSATION OUT OF THIS PLACE AND HE FLATLY REFUSED TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILTY EVEN THOUGH HE KNOWS THAT MY CAR NO OTHER PROBLEM OTHER THEN SHIFT FUSE AND EVEN THAT THEY COULD NOT FIX. THEY SPENT TWO HRS ON MY CAR AND COULD NOT FIX ANYTHING. PLEASE ADVISE ME WHAT CAN BE DONE.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
One more thing I forgot to mention is that you do have 3 years from the date that the garage performed the work on you car to bring the matter to the small claims court (prescription period). You might also want to file a complaint at the CPA Montreal which is like the body that issues the mechanics licenses. I'm not sure if they would do anything cause they are pretty useless themselves, but hey its worth a try cause it doesn't cost anything.
You should launch a complaint at the consumer protection office and send them the supporting document. They will handle your case free of charge and make sure you did not get ripped off by this garage. However, if they cannot handle your complaint, you might want to sue them in small claims court and show the supporting evidence to seek compensation. Good luck with your claim
