I have had nothing but trouble with this company since moving into this apartment community almost two years ago. Every time you call them, you will have to hold LONGER than 20 minutes to talk to anyone, My record was 54 minutes. First, they did not send me a bill for three months, and their web site was impossible to get any payment information off (old...

MDU Communications Customer Service

The internet "went out" in our apartment building three weeks ago. It was out for two days. When it was "fixed, " we still had trouble logging on to the network. Even though I am able to log on now, I am only able to do so if I RESTART the router. So, I have been calling MDU to get help with this, and I have been on hold every time I call for 40+ minutes. Sometimes I leave a message, but no one calls me back. I have emailed them almost every day, but no one responded. Finally yesterday someone emailed me back and said I'd get a call from a tech person--no one ever called. I just called again today, and they told me I wasn't authorized to get help because my name wasn't on the account--my husband's name is on it. I asked to speak to a manager. The representative then HUNG up on me! I hate this company! They are the worst!

There is nothing more I can say that has not already been said by the dozens of complaints from customers. My apt. complex offers free cable and internet with your rent. Most of the time we do not have more than 4 cable channels. The apt. office said they tried to cancel with MDU but MDU said it would charge them $40, 000 if they cancelled. Sounds like black mail to me. So, the apt. complex is not getting what they are paying for (breach of contract?) which in turn the resident is not getting what they have been promised if they rent an apt. here. So, we all just sit around with our thumb up our nose. I do not have money for an attorney but I am contacting the Attorney General to see if he can give us some help.

Well like everyone else says I had no choice but to go with them when I moved into my new apartment. I felt they overcharge for the channels I have compared to Comcast but I was like whatever. I'm not one to complain it takes a lot to upset me because I deal with customers at my job so I try to be as understanding as possible. Well a month in I looked at my...

MDU Communications Subpar Customer Service

I established an account with MDU for my senior citizen mother living in a senior rental community that uses MDU for the television services. I provided the information to have the bills sent to me for payment. Months passed and no bill was received. Today, my mother's service was disconnected. When I called the customer service center, I found out that my billing information was never set up in the account. When I requested that they waive the late fees and reconnection fee and I would pay in full the fees for services rendered, the supervisor told the service rep "no, they should have called us to say they were not being billed". When I asked to speak with the supervisor, I was disconnected. When I called back, and connected to the supervisor, she was rude to say the least, interrupting me as I spoke and emphatically telling me that I was wrong because we have been receiving service aqnd should have called them to inquire about billing. Why then did they not send notification by regular mail when they were not getting payments via the incorrect email they had in the system? Yet, I am at fault? They were willing to lose future business, and past payment for $80 in late fees and reconnection fee. I am appalled. A more reputable company would have made every effort to contact the customer. When I spoke with building management, they indicated that the customer service is poor and that everyone complains about them. They are likely to pursue a new service provider as a result. When I found this complaint website, I was only too glad to add my complaint to the list. No one should do business with this company. They do not deserve to be in business. My complaint letter will be in the mail this evening to corporate headquarters...for what it is worth.

MDU Communications The WORST company EVER

I have not had one month of problem FREE issues with this company. Since May, I've been forced to use this company because they won the bid for my apartment complex...needless to say they will find out shortly, they are loosing the business.

I have VoIP telephone service and each time I make a call, the receiver of my calls gets a different number on their caller ID than what I am assigned to. When I call Maryland from a Virginia number, the person's caller ID shows that I'm calling from WITHIN Maryland! Each time I call MDU I get a bunch of kids taking the calls and stating they'll call me back. Guess what? No calls...I even expressed to them how much of a lawsuit they'll have on their hands when I call 911 and the number registers wrong and the ambulance shows up at the wrong residence. Do you think they care about that, NOPE! I've called Corporate, and no one calls back. I ask to wait to talk to a supervisor and i get that they are unable to keep me on hold to talk to a supervisor; when I tell them how funny it is that they can keep me on hold for 15 minutes to trouble shoot the issue, they stumble and fumble for an answer.

Last month, I fought with them to give me a credit for service they aren't providing. So they did, but I ended up having to pay for the taxes...go figure. This month, i got an email stating they haven't received my payment yet. How's that possible when they bill my CREDIT CARD and I hadn't gotten my credit card statement yet? Again, I called, ended up with some kid who says "oh then there must've been a glitch in the system". Funny thing is; 2 days later I got my credit card bill and there is NO CHARGE on it from MDU. I'm actually on hold with them again right now to complain.

I tried reporting them to the FCC and received a response that they can't handle VoIP issues and that I need to try to contact the Better Business Bureau.

My suggestion is to MOVE ON to another company; I'm not sure how this one stays in business.

We have MDU for heating in Hettinger ND.. Were on the budget payment plan. Twice now this has happened to me, . I get off work and have no electricity .I HAVE NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT AND IM ALWAYS ON TIME. But for some reason they say I called them asking to be removed from the payment budget plan. I end up paying 600.00 to MDU for reconnection fees . They take out what ever Im left paying on my bpp from my checking account that ends me up with nsf.. This time it cost me 1, 400 to get reconnected and I had to pay them 200.00 that was left over from my bpp. time I call them asking why I was disconnected for they say I called them asking them to remove me from the payment budget plan. When I tell them I DIDNT CALL OR ASK THEM TO DO THAT. I get told her my word against theirs...this town I live in is a small town that has several corrupt people that are in government off there... they need to clean that mess up and get some honest people working for that town...

I have had similar issues with MDU. Ever since they took over our service at our apartment complex (also in Dallas) we have not been able to get any network channels. We have had people from MDU, Direct TV and our apartment complex come out and they all say it isn't their problem. I don't understand why we are required to pay Direct TV AND MDU. It seems like a scam to me because I cannot understand what service they are actually providing.

I live in an apartment community in north Texas (Austin Ranch). MDU bought our service effective today and this morning while I was watching the news, my tv displayed a message indicated that I was not a subscriber to this DirecTV station. The message started appearing on EVERY channel I subscribe to and I've been on hold with MDU for an for an hour now waiting for SOMEONE to pickup my call. They're definitely off to a GREAT start in my book...NOT!

MDU Communications The worst service ever

Mdu communications has the worst service ever.
I have to have them come over atleast once a month to get my service running. I don't think I have had a single month of problem free service. When you call customer care. They don't care. Please stay away from MDU.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. The system pops up code 771 every hour. Yesterday it was 15 plus times. This has been going on for months. They tell you that they will call back with a repair appointment time and never show up. When you call back, (if the account is in your spouse's name) they tell you he has to call in. Even though he has told them a number of times it's ok for me to call. It's like they don't realize that people do have jobs also, and don't have the time to call in 15 times a month. This company needs to be put out of business.

MDU Communications Most horrible service ever!

If you are ever in the market for a condo or rental apartment which includes internet and Direct TV in its maintenance or rent, make sure the service is not provided by MDU Communications. There are already so many bad reviews of this company online, but I experienced it first hand and owe it to the public to find out how horrible this company’s service is. One review said that MDU Communications has the “worst customer service ever, ” which I thought was an understatement after I had dealt with them myself.

The building where I purchased a condo unit (Newswalk in Brooklyn, NY) gave no choice as to cable providers except for Direct TV, not from the company itself, but re-distributed by the wholesale supplier company MDU, which also supplies “Hi-Speed Internet” to the building. I believe this is a marketing ploy developers use to appeal to buyers, who believe they are getting somewhat of deal by having TV and internet included in the maintenance.

Of course, as expected, the building’s Wi-Fi was slow, buggy, and often got disconnected. The Ethernet jacks in the apartment did not work. When I called MDU Communications’ technical support (now this is new, you MUST experience it yourself because you won’t believe it otherwise), their tech support people sounded like my kid brother or nephew, they definitely did not have prior customer service training at all. For every question, they would put me on hold for five minutes and then ask someone else, who still didn’t know what they were doing.

Call#1

First off, they said the building had NO WI-FI, and that what I was connecting to (which had their opening homepage “MDU Communications”) was not from their company. Okay, so I said the Ethernet jacks in the unit didn’t work and they said they needed to authorize my computer to access their connection. I gave them my MAC address and they entered it in their system. Still nothing, but that I should wait until their server updates their system and I should have connection soon. Okay, I’ll wait.

Call #2

Two days later, I called MDU again, spoke to the teenager on the line who said that they DO HAVE WI-FI in the building but that I was not authorized to use it. Okay, then authorize me. He took my MAC address again, and said that I was now authorized (congrats!). Still no Ethernet, I told him. He said he needed to put me on hold, which he did for 10 minutes. He then said that for that, he needs to forward my request to engineering, and that I would get a call back.

Call # 3

One week later and no call from MDU. I call them back and scold another teenager who told me that when I called the last time, the problem “was resolved by asking the client to change the Ethernet cable.” Wow! I could not believe it! I said that I was waiting for a call from the “engineering department” and he said there was no record of that request. I begged the boy to put a request in for engineering to call me back to schedule an appointment for a Saturday repair visit, taunting him and saying “I know that no one will call me about this, and this request is going to be lost again.” He promised that he would personally call back within a day. Or course, no call. Instead, after three days, I received a voicemail asking me to be at my apartment the next day, which was a weekday, which I couldn’t do, that’s why I asked for the Saturday visit in the first place... (even writing this is exhausting!)

Call #4

Ten days later. I call MDU and tell them that I cannot make it to the scheduled repair tomorrow because it is a weekday, and I requested a weekend. Another young boy tells me that there was no request for a weekend repair date, but he can request one for me. It won’t be until two weeks from that date. I take it, I say, truly exasperated by this service at this point but having no choice because Verizon DSL was giving me an equally hair-pulling ordeal about transferring my DSL from my previous apartment (that’s another story). MDU leaves a message on my cell phone every three days saying that they scheduled a repair visit for the next day (weekdays) and if I don’t respond then they won’t come. I ignore the messages.

Call # 5

Three weeks later. I finally get my Verizon DSL working, and decide that I am done with dealing with MDU, so I call them the Thursday before their Saturday repair date (because, if not, they had a $60 cancellation fee!). A lady answered the phone this time. I said, “I’d like to cancel my repair visit for Saturday.” She asks if I would like to reschedule, and I say “No, that’s not necessary.” She asks why, and I say “I’ve been having so many problems with your company that I’ve decided not to bother, ” expecting her (like any other customer service person) to appease me in some way. She said, “Oh okay, I just need to write something down.” I’m not even kidding! I thanked her for the time and took down the cancellation confirmation number.

If you think this is over, the best part is to come! That Saturday, the date and time of the scheduled visit, the MDU repair guy did show up! I yelled into the intercom, “I canceled you on Thursday, my confirmation is 10EB.” He said, “Nobody told me!” I laughed and said “Sorry!”

There is no sweeter justice than to have a sad, inconsiderate, incompetent and inefficient company get a taste of their own medicine. Because of their own stupidity and communication issues, they inconvenienced their own selves instead of their paying customers for a change. I love it when that happens, and although I feel bad for the repair person, I feel that I was put through so much more and nobody among the many people I spoke to at MDU Communication ever showed any concern for the inconvenience I experienced not having the service I already paid for, being put on hold for an hour combined, or speaking to all these incompetent people who have no place in customer service or being in an office setting.

All that being said, I would seriously reconsider using any service by this company, or give into any sales gimmicks by real estate developers or landlords that has anything to do with MDU Communications. Their customer service is a joke, and their actual service is worse!

I usually don't write bad reviews, but it has been impossible for me to find anything positive about this company. It has been 2 weeks since I requested to connect my internet and cable and I still have NOTHING. The first time they didn't show up and after I spent 2 hours (exactly 2 hours by the minute) on the phone to figure out why, al I got was that I was a liar and actually never set up the appointmet (although I have phone records that CLEARLY prove that I called them!). The following times they came up with various excuses including that the whole building had no internet (NOT TRUE!). They have the WORST customer service and are absolutely incompetent. As pretty much everyone else, I have no choice since my building has a contract with them. I wish I did have a choice. It would be an easy one- AVOID THEM!

Im a soldier based out in ft irwin california. A long ways away from my home in Arkansas. MDU is the only ISP for this area and it took them 2 weeks and 3 reschedules in which the service reps "Did not know the issues of why we have to reschedule you" to get internet. I pay for a 6MB Connection and im picking up maybe half a MEG. Every customer service rep that I talk to sounds like they dont care about what your problem is and are always giving you the "I dont know". Im sick of this! They need to be put down! I live far away from home I dont get good phone service out here so the internet is my way of talking to my family and I cant even do that because the internet is buggy. A waste of 40 dollars a month

Worst company I have ever dealt with. They install Direct TV but don't offer the same DVR (Genie). They make it mandatory for maintenance service as part of your monthly bill. I was put on hold for over 3 hours in one day for services that is non-competitive withj other businesses. Direct TV should really think hard about having them installing there systems. Maintenance man that installed my unit was very pleasant, but the people in the office are the rudiest and most uncustomer service oriented.

I live at the Piero apartments (in downtown Los Angeles). The owners contract the dish tv services with MDU. In my opinion, MDU is the worst, most unprofessional "business" that I have ever known. I wish the FCC would shut them down.

This has got to be the most horrible company ever to install cable. I have had my cable turned off on Friday at least 4 times. Then don't get it back until the following week at least Tuesday. This time it is almost day end on Wednesday and I still don't have it back. They seem to keep losing my service and saying that they don't show an outage. I could sit here and rant for ages but I am hungy and just have to end this with, if I could go anywhere else I soooo would. Despise this company and their service.

My girlfriend has a place in downtown LA and I constantly have been begging her to consider getting HD. After all my pleads, she went ahead and got an HD receiver and requested I help her installing it. I figure, no problem, just a few plugs and in and outs, not a big deal. It was then I realized there was an issue with the building's dish on the roof for HD. I called Direct TV for advice. After all they were the company that she has paid every single month for the service. It was at this time when I was told I needed to call MDU as they are a third party company the building contracted with. Direct TV basically told me that they loved to collect their money every month for satellite TV but could offer NO SERVICE. It got much worse. The folks at MDU are worthless with no customer service at all. It was as if the girl I was speaking to was handling 5 calls at the same time. I was on hold after every single question. Basic one's like, what's your name? (PLEASE HOLD... 5 minutes later), What do you need? (PLEASE HOLD)... After holding for 30 minutes, I was then told that they can't help me in getting HD as now I needed the building / leasing company to call her or else she will do nothing. One would have thought that could have been told to me in the first minute. I called the building / leasing company around 10:00 AM. One full hour later, I called the leasing company back to see if they have a status and was told that he (leasing company) has been on hold for the last hour with MDU. Unreal. I have not even scheduled a tech to come out yet...!

Lesson to learn here... if your looking to rent a condo or apartment and that facility is offering TV / Internet, ask who the provider is. If it is MDU, I would recommend running for hills and and renting elsewhere.

In this day in age, TV and Internet connections are as important as the gas and electricity. If someone told you that you may or may not get service for those utilities, one would not rent there right. Same goes here with MDU. In a nutshell, they are HORRIFIC.

I live in the Orsini in Downtown Los Angeles...MDU (provider for DirectV) is without a doubt the MOST horrible service providers EVER. Why The Orsini chooses to use this incompentent and useless company is a complete mystery. If there is any kind of problem neither DirecTV or MDU want to take any responsibility and you will literally spend hours on the phone going back and forth between the two. I believe MDU is just a front company for money laundering or arms dealing...seriously there is no way a company can be as breathtakingly incompentent as they are and be a legitimate business that actually stays in business.

I was instructed by Dish Direct with MDU communications that they were the only carrier available in my complex when I first arrived to my complex (The Piero, Los Angeles, CA downtown). Upon my first, of many phone calls, I was placed on hold for a minimum of 20 minutes to be told that the first available appointment would be available in 17 days. I was then instructed that the window would be from 2pm until 6pm for that appointment.

17 days go by and I ensured to be available at my apartment from 2pm-6pm on a Monday in which I was originally scheduled to work. I called around 10am to ensure someone would indeed be coming to complete the required installation of my services, with which I was ensured someone would be there "on schedule" which could still not be specified with an exact time, or at least a more estimated time then a 4 hour window. I asked if a phone call would be possible when the technician was in route and was told that was not possible but was ensured the technician would be there between the hours specified. When 3pm came, I called again to ensure all was on schedule and that someone would be coming, for which I was reassured that the technician was "on schedule." When 5pm came without any call or show of technician, I called again to see if there was any delay or if everything was still on time. For which I was again reassured the technician was on the client right before mine and mine was next. At 7pm another call was placed to determine what was the exact amount of time that the apparent delay scheduled to be, as I have sat at home THE MAJORITY OF MY DAY waiting on someone who was scheduled as "on time" with no follow up or progress call that still had not shown. At 8pm, I was obviously livid when I called back and waited on hold yet again to only be told that the technician was scheduled to come but could not be contacted by their services to determine location and estimated EXTREMELY LATE time of arrival, if any was actually ever planned at all. This company is beyond highly unprofessional and disrespectful to any and all clients. No call can be made to check on the status, nor can a wait time be expected to be any less than 20 minutes. I cancelled my services and demanded a full refund. At this point I would much prefer to be without any sort of cable/dish television access if this is the best type of company and customer service that this complex has to offer. Dish Direct is a joke and is a waste of time, energy and anyones day, month or months that they chose to put up with this crock. This place is an immense scam. Good luck anyone who chooses to take that gamble.

I moved to LAS BRISAS (a condo) in Miami Lake/Hialeah and was glad that the maintance fee included cable. about 3 months later i need internet service and after looking around it seemed no one would offer internet and i was forced to pick mdu for the internet (they were already doing the cable) first month was ok. then the 2nd month the internet went down for two days and then out of no where back again. 3rd month it happens again so i call they tell me someone could come out n take a look at it but then it magically works again...a yr later repeat story atleast 6 times plus now they had to conect direct tv with a "family" plan that had no mtv, bravo, fx or any good chanel besides nike so it basically made me upgrade to get any decent ch so i now have to pay extra...customer care seems to have little to no control and the service (for internet) goes off if not every month every other for a day or so. ...AVOID MDU IF U CAN

I am amazed that MDU is even a legitimate company! They are not (and refuse to) register with the BBB. I certainly know why...they collect money and provide no actual service. Forcing people to pay $11.00 a month for nothing and then having the gall to charge another $50.00 to move my service from 1 apartment to another (in the same building) is unfathomable to me. This is a scam. MDU is a scam. Warn your friends to avoid buildings where this parasitic company dwells.
