I've experienced or heard of come crappy employers, but this is the worst I've personally experienced. This is a workers' comp carrier, based in Michigan.

They give the outward appearance of being a wonderful place to work, a great place to do business with... NOT! The employee of a company they insured got seriously hurt. A member of MCIM's management actually said, "Well, lets hope they die rather than become a para or quad -- it would be cheaper." Kinda makes your stomach turn a little.

The CEO is a 60-ish woman who is referred to as Cruella deVille.

She like to hire people to control them, both their professional and personal lives, and she is partial to hiring gay men (I assume because there are no wives or children to get in the way), and quite often those under-qualified for their jobs.

When the FL office opened, Jo (a female manager) transferred from MI to FL, and assumed the position of office manager. A guy was hired for an underwriting position, which is what his background was. 'Cruella' started leaning on this underwriting guy, and promoted him to be her personal assistant.

Like her previous male assistant, she has dictated what he did after hours (dinner and entertaining), who he dated, even forced him to sell his house and rent another from a friend of hers "to be closer to the office".

Cruella would tell him how she liked to promote people, move them up, and them let them crash. She told him to 'watch to see what she did to Jo'. Not long after, Jo was told to go back to MI or she wouldn't have a job. This guy was moved into the position of office manager, until he couldn't take any more.

Next, Cruella hired 'her favorite gay waiter' to fill the $90, 000/year office manager position, despite having absolutely NO experience in anything remotely related. Having no previous knowledge certainly made it easy for her to train him.

So many people are fired for exercising any sort of independent thought. MCIM wants only mindless individuals, or those who can be bought. People are promoted and paid more than they are worth, so they can't go anywhere else and get a comparable job or salary, and have to put up with it.

This is only a small sampling... my lunch hour is over.

I also worked here. Started off as a temp and ended up Cruellas personal assistant. All was well until she hired her bartender as the office manager. He was always talking about sexual stuff and making uncomfortable comments. I told her about it and was fired 3 days later. What a mess this place was. One of the writers was a heavy drug user claimed to be in recovery however you could tell she was on some heavy stuff early in the morning. Stay away people!

I totally agree with the negative comments. I experienced much the same treatment. I was hired in as a temp and within two months was asked to take the job of a long time supervisor. This more than doubled my case counts. Then within two more months, they fired the only other lost time adjuster and expected me to also do her case counts! I was working all nights, week ends and holidays in order to attempt to keep up. The rules changed almost daily. The other adjuster had been let go on flimsy basis and had not paid one of the claimant's because she was let go a day prior to the payment being due. I was told not to worry because they hired an attorney firm to take care of the other adjuster's case count. This all came back to bite me in the butt for believing it, and when the unpaid claimant screamed to Cruella, Cruella went to her house and gave her a check for a few weeks of payments out of her own pocket, then . . . then expected me to reclaim the payment! When I took the state allowed 10 percent per week out of the claimant's check, to repay Cruella as I was directed to do, the claimant once again called Cruella screaming to high heaven about the payment being less than her regular check. Cruella simply fired me to please this claimant. She looked at me and said "Well, at least YOU tried to keep up, unlike the others. She is still the head of this company and the last I knew a few months ago she lost four adjusters all at once. No one was left to do her bidding. She ended up using the janitor in place of an adjuster. Can you say it with me ILLEGAL!

Best place I worked. Left for another opportunity but appreciate all the company did for me.

Is there a way to file a bullying complaint against them?

Worst company ever. Do not ever work here or let your money go to this wicked old cruella Deville. She is the most evil person I've ever been in contact with that calls herself a CEO. And the same goes for her current puppy in charge LZ. The comment before this is completely correct. The turnover rate is ridiculous. And she doesn't care to fire you on your first day, 1 year, or your 15th year. If she doesn't like you, then you don't work there. She lies about harassment in the office and covers it up with money and incentives to keep it quite from the board members. The ship is sinking and we are all watching it sink. She cares more about that ugly dog that she brings into every meeting than any of her employees. She even spent business money buying the dog damn business cards. Just know that we will make sure you fall just like we did. Take away your failing ambest rating and all you have is a wicked old lady and a bunch of employees whimpering for more training and more money. You are done EPY, and "We" will make sure of it.

I also worked for MCIM. They have around 79% turn over rate and most of their employees are scared for their jobs. They don't care about their employees and The CEO is the real life Cruella deVille or the character out of the Devil Wears Prada! One of my ex co-workers is running scared and its such a shame. I have started my own company and that is the good thing that came out of my experience. If you are interviewed and offered a job by MCIM please consider it very seriously before you except, as you may not be there long! Oh' there is also a MCIM grave yard site on Facebook that I found!
