MB XL Entertainment / Fraudulent charge to my bank account

1 Houston, TX, United States Review updated:

This company has charged me 3 times now. I was first with Washington Mutual when I saw the first fraudulent charge of $39.95 appear on my account. I had to close the account because the MB/XL Entertainment would not reverse the charges and WAMU was of no help in figuring out how they got my info. I am now with Chase and have been charged $39.95 again, by the same company. When I called MB/XL Entertainment - they say they are only the billing company for XL Entertainment and that XL is an adult website. I certainly did not authorize any adult website purchses! They promised to reverse the charges, still waiting to see that happen. But, now I see a 3rd charge although its still pending so I can't view all of the information just yet.
When I called Chase about this, their fraud department informed me that companies like Think Cash and other cash advance companies will prey on their customers by providing "non-public" info such as your bank routing # and account # to other companies they think you might be interested in. Chase says they see it all the time on people's accounts who use cash advance companies services. I am now having to close this account and open a new one with Chase. This is not related to my credit or debit card, this is only related to my checks. Beware of cash advance companies! I am going to raise a complaint about them as well.

The same company has fraudulently charged my Chase checking account (and caused an overdraft too!) When I called their customer service line they did not answer. I do not use any adult websites or cash advance companies, so how did they get my information???

Same thing with me--they're called "demand drafts" and your bank should be responsible for accepting them. My bank, Bank of the West, required I file a complaint, fill out a signed afidavit and have it notarized (ironic). Eventually they credited the account for the charge and the notary fee. I still have to close the account. Raise hell with your bank and write your rep in Washington. There should be a law against banks accepting these checks!

I just discovered that I have this charge on one of my accounts. They used old information on the bogus check too.

Ah dealing with the same problem, I call up this MB billing and they are no help and only claim they are processing a refund. With all of this having this problem is there a way we can make it stop?

Having the same problem! I just noticed this "check" on my account from this XL entertainment company that I have never heard of... The phone number of course has assured me that they are just a billing company but will put in a dispute. I do not use adult websites or cash advance companies either and it's really making me upset that someone got my checking account information without my knowledge!

I just noticed an odd charge on my account and called and it's the same company!!! XL entertainment! Same scenario, they're just the billing company and will try to have it reversed. I'm calling my bank's fraud department when it opens in 10 minutes. Thank god it was only for $24.99.

Same situation here too. I live in arizona in an itty-bitty town and had to re-open my account too. I also think this is happening due to a bogus PayPal e-mail. It says in the header line "PayPal.Inc" as the web address sender. BE AWARWE!!! IT IS FAKE!! I have reported the fake PayPal e-mail now 4 times and I keep getting them. It looks authentic and request that you verify your account and information due to increased security regulations and my hubby responded about the time the "demand check" was presented for 39.99.

Same thing here! 24.95 cleared as an authorized check with name/address/acct number and everything on it. The crazy part is it goes through as a check not a charge, which changes how quickly (if at all) you get your money back into your account! Gotta close it...How do we protect ourselves in the future? I mean, how did they even get my info to begin with?

Everyone's stories sound like deja vu.. The same thing happened to me with that same company. I had to close my bank account and go through changing everything over for $34.95. Ridiculous! AND it wasn't even my name that was on the 'check', it was my boyfriends! When I called the phone number listed under the company name (it took 3 times to get through), they told me they were just a billing company and there was nothing that they could do. How are they getting this information???

I just had the exact same thing happen to me. I do not use adult websites at all. I don't think I was even online the day the 39.99 charge was put in. I called the customer service number that my bank saw on the submitted item. "Edward" told me that it was a charge for a company call XL Entertainment. He is refunding my money, though it will tak 7-10 business days, and made a note that I am not authorizing any charges from that company EVER. I called and told my bank the conversation, and they were willing to reverse the charge. They even took off the overdraft charge caused by it. Sounds like (so far) I've had better luck at solving the issue, but I'm very concerned that these people had all my information and was able to make it look like something I had submitted myself! Can't we sue these people for theft?? If enough of us went after them, surely they'd be put out of business.

Well, I guess I'm the next victim. 39.99 was my damage. Really glad I caught it in one day! Called the same number as everyone else, the "billing company" who I'm sure is not responsible at all, (yeah right). They told me the same thing, I'll be refunded the money because they have a money back guarantee, and that I'll be put on a list of never to be charged again. We'll see if the money comes back, or if I get charged again. I've already opened another account, but I can't close my current one until I receive my money back. Good luck all, and if I find a sure fire way to take care of this, I'll update this complaint.

Well, here's one more. What a horrible time for some money grubbing felons to steal from the single mom with $40.00 in her account. It has set my finances into a whirlwind of chaos. What's worse is that the address on the electronic check was an address I had 8 years ago. How many people don't look at their accounts daily and let them just take the money out of their accounts. YUCK! They're probably not even in the US.

TWO bank accounts in two different banks one of which I haven't used in a couple years. The only reason I knew about it was because it bounced.

Here's another one! I was checking out my account and there was this bogus charge for $39.99 XL Entertaintment. I have no idea how these people are getting this information. I haven't lived at the address on the draft for over 5 years. Called the "billing company" and was told that they were a third party and that they weren't directly affiliated with this XL Entertainment, and they are supposed to refund me the money, since I'm not confident that this will happen I also contacted the bank and the bank is going to refund me the money, close this existing account & open up a new one. They will also be putting an alert on the account for any suspicious activity and filing fraud charges. Thank goodness for such a great financial institution.

The company I work for got hit with this $39.99 crap! I called and they are refunding the money and the billing company gave me an email of support@mbsupportcenter.com to email with any questions. I sent them an email, but I am not going to hold my breath waiting for a response. What has this world come to? I know for sure that we didn't use a cash advance place or sign up for a porn website with our company account.

We just found out about the same issue TODAY! We had an account closed due to fraudulent charges and one of our stimulus checks went to that account which reactivated it! Then this MB XL company charged 35.00 to our account! I am never going to another cash advance place again!!! Thank God they don't have our other checking account!
