Match.com website lies

They offer you to register for free and it says you can be viewed by anyone and it is NOT true. They just want you to pay. My free registration does not show in search results at all, neither my username. They keep sending you emails of your matches and subscription emails where you have to give your credit card number which I won't give under no circumstances to that site. So they should not even offer a free registration because the only thing you can do is search everybody except yourself and read their profile. The way to contact me if I would appear on search results was my own situation, easy way to reach me.

They lead you to believe things that are not true. They should at least say "nobody can see you" instead of "everybody can see you". Crooks!

I agree. Match.com is a total fraud. Every response has been from a scammer. Match uses date baiting, which is sending an attractive profile the day your free trial ends. The only way to read thier email is to sign up. The person never responds because they dont exist. Match is also impossible to reach and they ignore complaints. Save your money.

Match.com - fraud and cheating

I'm a young widow. After careful consideration and because I am new to georgia, I decided to join match.com to meet someone. I did not post my photograph at first, just my profile. I receive a wink from a man named brian schneider and he used his name as his user password. I winked back, and he sent me an e-mail. He suggested I get a yahoo account so we...

Match.com questionable business practices

I signed up with Match.com a few days ago. When you first sign in, you are asked a series of questions. It isn't til the very end when they hit you with all kinds of charges for their service. Your profile can still be viewed by others and you are sent potential matches by e-mail every few days. BUT, the catch is, if you do not pay money or "Subscribe", anyone who e-mails you will never hear from you and you cannot see any of that persons information unless you pay money. This just happened to me a few moments ago. When I phoned Match.com, I got a rude woman named Mabel. When I expressed concern over the fact that I had received an e-mail from a potential match for me, but that I was unable to view that e-mail or even respond, all Mabel had to say was "well, I'm sorry you feel that way." Now this person will feel that I am snubbing them and being rude. AND, another clincher is this: Match.com was advertising this New Years weekend as free communication weekend where those signed up with them can communicate for free. That advertisement on TV did not say anything about whether this only pertains to paid subscribers or both subscribers and members. While this service has potential, they need to quit screwing people over and step up to the plate and make this an honest service all the way through, not just part way.

Match.com bad service

I did not order this service.

I am a senior citizen and on a limited.

Funds. I found someone had used my debit card and called my bank to stop payment. I then called the company to see whos e-mail was the one they used.

They would not give it to me. So I could report this as a fraud. I will my bank so they cannot charge me again. As I see the number of complaints against this company. Nothing is being done to stop them. They are just stealing. I am going to report them to the better business bureau.

Actually email correspondence with match.com:

Dear sirs,

I reached a customer service representative by the name of Robert and with the

approval of his supervisor. He informed me that they would correct the error and

I would receive my next 6 months free as promised with my new expiration date

being 21Mar2008.

Thank you for resolving this issue. The representative I spoke with was

your 6 month guarantee is fraudulent. Not only have I had numerous memberships

I worked for Match.com about a year ago. Your complaint appears to be one that I have heard numerous times, but the fruad is not on the part of Match.com. Nigerians, as well as other scam artist's somehow get a hold of your credit card information and open accounts with Match.com in order to scam other members. I used to take about 20 complaints a day as well as calls from the Nigerians themselves trying to open accounts with Match.com. Match.com does take these complaints seriously. They immediately shut down any profile that is being investigated as fruad. They also have a special team to investigate and help crack down on these scams. Chances are your charge card was used by a Nigerian to open an account to scam other memebrs out of money. Match.com will refund your bank promptly in that event. The customer service reps hear that complaint on a daily basis, and they do forward cases of fraud to their investigation team. Hopefully your bank closed your charge card account and issued another card with a new number. Be very careful when making online purchases, as well as in stores.

Checked my debit card account this morning and noticed an unauthorized (fraudulent) charge for $37.30 in my pending transaction. Located the name corresponding to the transaction, did a google search and located this complaint blog. Found the 1-800 number, which seemed to be very similar to what showed up, and called [protected]. Spoke to a CSR, explained the situation and he put a STOP on the account, then forwarded the information on to their account department for further investigation. I was told they would call me and/or email me with their findings...and remove the $37.30 charge. This is not the first time my WELLS FARGO debit card has been compromised...I always canceled and had another one issued...THIS IS VERY, VERY, VERY unfortunate for this company as well as for WELLS FARGO...kind of questioning the legitimacy of not only website but some very reputable companies like WELLS FARGO.
Disappointed and Frustrated ...but thankful I caught this in time

Match.com tricky "subscription" charge after 30 day purchase

IAC World Headquarter owns match.com .

Match is notorious for this. I signed up in May for a "30 day" subscription. Without asking me, match.com signed me up for an eternal subscription, charging my credit card an ongoing fee of $37.79. I caught on to this today after six months of unauthorized charges.

I called match.com and asked to cancel the subscription and asked them to refund my credit card for the six unauthorized payments of $37.79 (a total of $226.79).

They flatly refused and said that they "make it clear" while signing up that you're actually subscribing to an open-ended subscription.

The customer service people are not the culprits and they've been given a script. However, they had clearly been coached how to handle this situation and flatly budged to help me refund my money.

When I asked for the phone number of the next person up the food chain that I could contest this with, their canned answer was "fill out the email form." When I insisted on a phone number, their answer was "we're a dot com. We don't have phone numbers--only email."

This is not only criminal but laughable! What kind of idiot could have written that script and expected people to believe that!? Of course "dot com" companies use phones!

Net/net match.com refused to give me my money back. No matter what.

I have issued a statement of fraud with my credit card company for the amount they billed me without my consent. I'm going to write a formal letter to IAC though no one there will ever read it and I'll just be yet another complaint added to the legions of complaints that (I'm guessing) they probably receive about this practice of theirs.

Help! Who's looking out for the consumer here! How can this practice of signing people up for subscriptions without their consent be legal? What can we do?

Match.com - Unauthorized charges

Oh, one last detail. The charge was for $34. 99. The thing that makes me so mad about this is that it costs the bank money to re - issue the card. It is also a hassle as it will take 7 - 10 days to receive the replacement card - at xmas time. I live in ct (Outside nyc). What states do all of you others that had this same problem live in? Match.com termination

First of all Match.com billed me for another year when I cancelled and had a return email verifying that I did. I have more than a few friends who were also resubscribed after they canceled too. Along with the poor quality of dating material, I received some very hostile email which I responded to. One woman had an anti-bush rant on her profile and I said I was pro-bush. She called me an "ignorant fuk" I reported here and I got terminated because she reported me... doesn't makes sense. I lost my remaining membership which I paid for and the hostile woman is still there. Trying to contact them is futile, they have nobody for customer service! I am outraged. We should get together a class action lawsuit.

Mar, I am sorry to let you note Match.com was right. Your act's been taken as provocatory and you CANNOT do that on communities and dating websites. I know it sounds weird but everyone is free to write whatever in their profiles and you cannot start flames or arguments because you dont agree with what other people say. If you want to do that, you should go on forums or boards where admin allows you to do that. Other than that, you would be banned everywhere.
You have to think profiles are not standard webpage. They are a private place where you express what you feel and talk about yourself. It's like a room in a hotel: if people talk ### about bush in a hotel room and you hear them, you cannot enter and tell them your own opinion. You just move on to your own room. :-)
That's why Match.com had you terminated.

Became a subscriber 10/14/08 at a cost of $39.99 on my bank account. (Okay, so I trusted them.) Exactly 48 hours later I was unable to log on. The message declared they had no record of my email address, even though they JUST emailed me my username and password.
Sent repeated emails for 4 days - only received automated response to call their phone line.
Called their phone line - recorded message told me to email them and then was disconnected.
Contacted my bank - will cost $30 to stop further payments.
Apparently we are not alone. This appears to be DELIBERATE and worthy of a class action suit with PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
Feel free to contact me anyone. brochaz1@gmail.com

Not only that but he is seeking somebody with children to become part of their family! Futhermore he has a record for violence against his first wife and is known to the police for violence against me. Why don 't these dating companies make better checks.?

Match.com no matches

I am a subscribing member. In 6 months I have only been matched with 2 men who matched my criteria. Met only 1-and he was only on here for a trial membership. All the other matches I receive each week-an average of 54 per week-do not match. They are either looking for someone who is younger, or lives closer to them. I would think that match.com would match the criteria for both parties-and not just send a one way match, what good does that do?
Also the trial memberships encourage scammers from Nigeria. Have been contacted by individuals that all use the same photo.
Match.com states they don't allow individuals who are "separated" I receive matchs with persons who say they are "separated." What's with that?
Also, I am trying to get my free 6 months and they are giving me some b.s.
I do not recommend this dating site. Have gotten more activity on free sites. Because I'm set up for automatic renewal (to get the guarantee) I now have another 6 months that has been paid for. I would like to cancel and get my money back on a prorated basis-but they don't offer this service.
RIPOFF! ! ! !

I worked for Match.com. I can help with some of your issues. You can call customer service regarding the matches. When I worked there a cusotmer would have several ways to search, one method was called "two way". Speak to them regarding your match criteria as well. They're there to assist you.

Match.com doesn't allow anyone who is legally married to join their site. If someone has contacted you who is married you should notify Match.com and they'll investigate and shut down their profile.

Nigerians are a big issue, I would shut down 20 profiles alone in a single day, as quick as I did, they'd open a new one. I found some of the Nigerians that I busted posing as an American on Myspace as well. I mean, with the same picture and exact same wording, ontop of it they tried to get me as a Myspace friend, not knowing I was the person who busted them on Match.com. They seem to be on every site trying to scam Americans out of money, and they somehow manage to find people who hand over thousands of dollars at a time, thinking they are actually helping an American. There's no way to stop it. It's a big problem everywhere.
Good luck!

I also was never offered the free 6 months-I'm set up for automatic renewal, and I just realized that it has been over 6 months. When I called and asked at first they told me "sure we will refund your money today, and will give you 6 months free! After talking to supervisor for 20 min. assistant told me "you are approved! just wait couple hours for acct.to refresh and then click on "green words" 6 months Guarantee -above your profile pix and follow directions " I was waiting all day for my acct to change but, the only thing they did is closed my acct.I called back and asked whats happening with my acct? assistant said "you canceled it so you don't have it"! I o I said " you guys told me you will refund my money so I can have my 6 months free, so I agreed " . They told me " we will get back to you"! now I am waiting.

Match.com most paid male members are players

I have had a profile on Match.com numerous times over the past 8 years and I have actually met a few guys while on it. However, even though I clearly state in my profile, and when I start talking with the men, that I am NOT interested in a frivilous affair or just dating for dating... that I am seriously looking for a life-long partner... every single one I have gotten together with has NOT been looking for the same thing even though they "claim" that they are when we talk and first meet. I also see many of the same men still on there, 8 years later. I don't believe any of the dating sites are a place to meet a man who is truly wanting a life long partnership with ONE woman. I believe that some of us women who are on them do want that... but, after my 100% bad experiences with every man I have met on a dating site, I have become very cynical towards men I'm afraid. And I wasn't that way before. I've gotten to the place now where I don't know if I could ever trust what a man told me again. I don't see that these sites are good for anyone, and are simply undermining the integrity of humans. I'm sure there are some honest men in this world, even at my age (58), but I don't think they exist on the dating sites... and they have sure turned me into almost a "man hater"... which I NEVER understood why some women were that way before. Now I understand... You get lied to and used enough times by enough men, and it becomes nearly impossible to feel that you can trust anyone.

Absolutely awful.
None of the matches are right (e.g. Interests, religion, profession, schooling, smoking habits). Photos do not match ages of people. Something is not right there. What a waste of time and money.
The website gets booked often. I have tremendous difficulties to navigate/ do searches as the page disappears and then comes back again from the start. Difficult to narrow down the search. Lara - the online help, doesn't really help.
Is there a refund policy?

The women are no better. I used to rent a 1 bedroom apartment. I had lots of one night stands but no girlfriend. Now that I own a home, they all want to move in ASAP. Better sex too.

The gold diggers now ask how long I’ve lived in the home, trying to figure out how much equity I have.

Match has turned me into the biggest player!

So far on Match I've been contacted by & met A TON of men who are commitment phobics (never married and no kids at 48 – really?), narcissists looking for new supply, scammers, MILF hunters, sexual predators or those have NOTHING to do with my preferences on any level. The only profiles with some height seem to be fake – possibly created by Match to lure you in. And the pool of people is much smaller than Match states. Not to mention the bugs here - for example – all my pages of Favorites have disappeared.

Ladies- be aware of a guy whose username is Sebo1952. His name is Ted and he has been on Match for years. He is 66 years old. He has been "dating" women for over 20 years and has no intention of ever settling down with any woman. He knows how to smooth talk a woman and he is only out for sex. He will do everything he can to rush the relationship physically and then get you in bed. Once he has done that, he will dump you in a heartbeat and be on to the next woman. His profile picture is NOT even current. He has gone through so many women and doesn't care about any of them. I went out with him and was surprised when we met and he didn't look anything like his picture which must have been at least 10 years old. But he was very nice and started running his game on me and like a fool, I fell for him. Of course he starts trying to get physical and when I said something about that to him, he says no pressure- we can just take our time as it should be natural and just flow. Yeah right! He was constantly trying to push the limit of what he could get away with and as soon as I gave in and had sex with him, he was gone! He was telling me that he was crazy about me, that he love me, he was so glad he found me, ect. Once we had sex, he blocked my phone number, my email address, his fb page, ect. So I go back on Match and he has blocked me from seeing his profile but I can still see his picture and he is on there trolling away for his next victim. Ladies, if you are looking for a LTR and thinking Ted will be the guy for you, be warned that he is just playing with your heart. He won't spend that much time with you and prefers to text you instead of calling you. You won't meet any of his friends or family. He knows how to give just enough of himself to you to keep stringing you along until he can get you in bed. And then you will never hear from him again. I talked to some other women who had dated him and they said they had the same experience with him that I did. So it wasn't just me. He was going to the Raleigh Singles meetup group and was always with a different woman there until he had gone through all the women in that group so now he doesn't go there anymore. He is definitely a player and only thinks about himself and what he can get out of a woman.

There are lots of players on the match site. One of them is Sebo1952. He will only go out with you for a very short while until he gets sex from you and then you won't hear from him again. He knows how to say all the right things to suck you in and make you feel really special but he isn't interested in any LTR. He has been "dating" for at least 20 years. He has gone through all the women in the Raleigh Singles meetup group. He just goes in and out of relationships and doesn't care how many women he hurts by his words and actions. Also, his picture on match is not current. I dated him years ago and he broke up with me. Then he came back around and sucked me back in saying all the right things. So I gave him a second chance. He broke up with me after we had sex and then I got on match and there he was. He blocked me so I am unable to see his profile but I can tell you his profile picture is not current. So if you want to be lied to and played, then by all means go out with this guy. He has been on Match for YEARS and he will be trolling for his next woman even when he is seeing you and romancing you. He just doesn't care and never will.

I have been a paying member for about a year. The main issue I have is rude women. While I'm no Brad Pitt, Iam sincere in my desire to get into a ling term relationship. I have sent messages to several women on the site and never ever get a reply despite the fact that I pay extra so that nonpaying members can reply. I can't understand how so many women meet so many creeps there. My conclusion is that that is who they choose to communicate with. My suggestion to friends is for them to teach out to possible matches first so that they have some control over who they are talking to.

Hi Thomas. I have had the same experience with Match too. I hear all of these women talk about all of the bad guys they run into on Match. It as if that is the only type they meet and that all guys are that way. But here is a guy that has all of the positive qualities that they say are lacking in the guys they meet and I am met with silence. I sent out five quality messages to ladies in the first three days on Match. No response back. I have been told that I am better looking than average for my age. So I stop wasting my time and wait for the ladies to show some type of interest in me. After one month, I hear nothing. And I live in a major metropolitan area. I am convinced that women on these sites are only attracted to the players. The players have "chemistry". The problem is the chemistry is that of nitroglycerin. I have been on and off these dating sites for five years with similar results.

Geez, I have been on POF and Match on and off again for years. In the early years, I had similar problems, but I respected myself not to sleep with guys that I hadn't developed a real relationship with (months, not days or dates). So I was never taken advantage of. Sure there were these kind of guys out there, but they are in the real world as well. I have been disappointed when a guy didn't turn out to be who he said he was, and I was even hurt, but I got over it and became wiser. After a year or so, these problems disappeared completely, and I have to say that I have not had one bad date. Some strange ones, but not bad. These problems disappeared because I established boundaries for myself and I listened carefully. I didn't divulge much of myself, until they did first, so that they could not appear to "agree" with me. I mimicked behavior that might happen in relationships to see what their response would be. If I didn't like their reaction, I politely got off the phone, and we never met. And I asked lots and lots of questions. Be wise women! Don't ever go to your place or his unless you know him and his friends well. When things don't make sense, politely remove yourself from the situation. Men cannot use you unless you let them close...so spread out the time it takes to get close...they give up and move onto someone else who is easier prey, if they are dirt bags. Good men, the men I have met online, are patient and will wait. I have developed very good screening skills, and you should to if you don't want to be a victim. BTW, men complain about the same with women...being used for $$$, meals, sex, and conversation (believe it or not). I have told them this. If a woman shows up and she is not who she claims to be...offer her a non-alcoholic drink, and politely excuse yourself to let her dine alone. Period. Sounds harsh, but if a guy is not who he claims to be when he shows up (at anytime), let him know that not OK with you and leave. I have done just that several times over the years.

Match and Zoosk users beware! His user name on Match is Joecovo62 and Zoosk it is something like CovaCova, but his real name is Joe Covarrubias. He is the ultimate serial dater. This guy will sweep you off your feet and manipulates your emotions to the extreme. One of his stories is that he has been hurt and just wants to find the one and settle down. Then when he has gotten what he wants from you (mostly emotional manipulation, sympathy and attention), he disappears. He loves to send text messages while he drinks himself into a train wreck. Then when he reappears to give you a story about how messed up he is and how he needs to figure himself out. When he disappears, its to reopen one of his dating accounts and to look for the next woman he wants to manipulate.

Reading the comments on here was so helpful...I was beginning to wonder how I could meet SO many losers...I have met about fifty men in ten years on and off of Match and Plenty of Fish..Almost everyone showed up looking unrecognizable, ten to fifteen years older and really unattractive. One good-looking guy that I actually thought might work insisted on dinner as he was starving...I only meet for a drink. I sat down at a table as he ordered an expensive bottle of wine and appetizer and full filet mignon dinner..I was not hungry. In the middle of dinner he told me that he had genital herpes and none of his women minded and it was under control...when the bill came he told me he had forgotten his wallet...It was a restaurant I frequent so ditching him wasn't an option. It was over $100 dollars..I did meet Michael who I was in love with..we had everything in common and he lived only a few miles from me. We dated for a year or so and I just didn't seem to be getting any vibe he was ever going to introduce me to his very large family or his friends. I went online with a profile with no picture and within minutes he was emailing me. I let it go on for a few weeks as I asked him all the questions I wanted answered online and in person..He claimed he wasn't dating, hadn't been dating, hadn't been in an intimate relationship...I agreed finally to go out for dinner with him that week and told him I was finally going to send him a photo. i went out with him that night as his girlfriend and did not say anything about it..as usual he was emailing me online the minute I had left his house. I sent him my picture and told him to never speak to me again!
As others have mentioned there are a lot of losers on Match with serious issues. Many guys I met ten years ago have the same profiles and pics with the same age and yes, they are active accounts. I am off the dating sites and concentrating on getting to the gym every night or early morn...lots of nice looking men and quite a few are single.. Be smart, write down clues in the first conversation. Google the guy. Find out from reverse lookup where he lives and what his address is. Find out what company he works for...look up his name and find out on people finder if he has a criminal past...otherwise you are just wasting your time. Good luck ladies...

Women in Michigan be aware of this player - Snugglebug42. He is the biggest snake. He's a smooth talker and will charm the pants off you. He looks good and has a great job (supposedly). Beware of the comments like, "We're a power couple, " "I never lie, I got you, " "Don't hurt me, I will never hurt you, " and much more. He comes across as funny, sincere and sensitive. BEWARE! He is the biggest dog. Below is a picture.

Match.com fraud and scam

When they say you can cancel your account, you're not really canceling, they inactivate your account and cancel the ability to renew. You can reach them easily and when you do they laugh at you. What kind of customer services is that. ALSO, they keep your credit card information on file and don't delete it.

BIG SCAM! I was online about 1 hour when I noticed I was getting numerous "WINKS" Being new to this, I answered a couple of them and automatically was asked to switch over to Yahoo IM to talk. The first guy was quoting poems, romantic novels etc...boring... so I talked to the other one, same thing, he wanted me to switch to IM. We chatted about 15 mins. The next day I got online and guy #2 immediately IM'd me saying, "HELP, I need your help" When I asked what, he said I need $800 for my son. I told him to find some other sucker to scam. He told me he was going to "kill" me. I was angry at first then it frightened me so I told him I was a male police officer. I emailed Yahoo and sent them text from the IM. They told me to alert law enforcement and to CANCEL my match.com subscription. I called match and they said they would take my profile off immediately. When I went in to check the site, I found that they only "hid" my profile? and they are not going to refund my money. This site is ridiculous with all of the scams and they are only concerned with $$$$, not the safety of their subscribers. DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$$$ BEWARE LADIES... of men that always are from the US, but are working out of the country. Also, I noticed that when I read bios, some of them had the same statements/words! Not sure what's going on, but please protect yourself and be smart!

Not only does MATCH.com keep your credit card on file, but if you change your credit card number they follow you to the new number and keep on charging you. They billed my card after a 1-month trial without my permission and now I cannot get rid of them and will have to cancel my card, as changing the number is won't get rid of SNATCH.COM. They SNATCH your MONEY! And run. You cannot reach them by phone. I could not reach them until I started a charge-back with my bank, and then they hooked me up to a Bimbo who mostly said "what . . . what . . . what" over and over . . . BEWARE of MATCH.Com.

Match.com overcharged!

As yet another of victim of match.com's disgusting business practices. To all who sign be warned. They will ripoff you off, without you even knowing it. Match.com autosubscribes you to an auto renewing policy. Even if you are successfully unsubscribe you will still get billed. If you call them after you catch them auto billing. They will tell you they have a no refund policy. If it is there mistake, they will tell you, that you did not unsubscribe properly. I caught them auto renewing me within 4 day after the charge got posted to my account. They would not remove the charge. After calling them, they tell you, its all legal and in the fineprint.

I will have to cancel my debit card, just to ensure it doesn't happen again next month. Anyone caught in this grotesque ripoff please file a complaint with the federal trade commission at this link

https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01

Or google ftc complaint.

Once again, if you are a customer or thinking about 'trying' this site, don't get duped. They are a ripoff!

Ps. When I furiously called them, I told them I wanted everything deleted from the garbage servers. The 'customer' service rep told me she did not have the ability and it will delete itself 1 year after unsubscribing from the system.

So my question is... What good is a pyle of dead user profiles.? It sends chills down my spine to think about what they do with this information...

They have no control over deleting your profile completely, anything that you put on the internet will remain no matter what site. There is not a delete button believe it or not, or else they would be more than happy to completely delete you. They don't do anything with your profile information, they hide your profile so you can't be searched, and they would have to write down your user name even if they had wanted to. Also, the terms of use are not in fine print, it is your responsibility to read it and if you don't then you're the only one to blame. After all, it is your credit card number you are giving out you should become more aware of terms like this.

Match.com marketng me without my consent

A friend told me to google potential dates' usernames -- she did that and found a guy on a bunch of swinger sites. Just for fun, I googled my own Match username, and found myself on page after page of Singles webpages, all with the Match.com logo, in all different towns in Texas that I'd never been to or even heard of. They all said "------ (me) is single in Austin! Online now! (even when I was not signed in) or (Active within one hour!" I was horrified, and wrote them to ask what this was about. They made me look like an online queen, putting myself out there in every town from Dallas to El Paso.

They have still never responded and refuse to remove me. I did some digging into their site, and I now think this was done in conjunction with their concept of "Communities" -- they lump people into a "Community" (Seniors, Single Parents, CHristian, etc) and market you on these separate web pages, but they don't ask you if you want to be on it, and they don't tell you.

I feel like bait. I googled the username of the homeliest women on the pages, and got "No Result." Same for the men. But anyone who is better-looking is used as bait in as many towns as those ###s can think of. I have written to them hundreds of times and they have never replied. Once when I mentioned the word "lawyer," they removed me for a short time, but now I am back on those pages, and on new and different towns I've also never heard of and will never visit. THe men in those towns will never meet me, I can tell ya.

I am furious.

I know exactly how you feel. Somehow i got used in marketing to and don't know how to get my username off. upsettingly enough it markets me in a town i just moved to and in a city i use to live in! this is upsetting and embaressing. :/ I'll get in trouble with my significant other and I don't know how to get them to not have me on there. So now i'm changing my email acounts on social networks so i can just drop the username which is the same as my email name :(. If you find out please post so others can be saved being upset like this.

Match.com is not marketing you. Once you put any type of information about yourself on the internet, whether you are on match.com or not it can be accessed by anyone who knows any thing about you. Also, match.com doesn't put you on website communities, if you visit other sister sites such as Chemistry then you are putting yourself out there. Furthermore, there is nothing a lawyer could do for you in a situation like this because you agreed to their Terms of use.

Match.com promiscuous sharing of information with chemistry.com!

Match.com allows its sister company chemistry.com to post on its website as if it were a service of Match.com. Having taken a look at the chenistry.com offer at any visit, one begins to received membership offers from both companies using the logon and password that was used to trial with match.com. It is a sort of dishonest bait ans switch, and an unwelcome and unwanted way to pretend to be the same company. Chemistry.com refuses to give a refund, saying they are a different company. Chemistry.com promised a partial refund "as a courtesy" then never provided it. If they cannot make it without stealing it from their would be customers, they should go out of business. Match.com is at fault for colluding in the fakery.

Wow ok, another [censored]. On match.com there is a link that says "Let Match.com introduce you to Chemistry". When you click that link. it goes to chemistry.com with same username and pw as match.com. Then it asks if you wanna transfer your profile over, then you answer the personality survey. (wow hard not to notice all that, but wait theres more to do) In order to become a subscriber to chemistry, you would have to imput your credit card number and pick a subscription plan. So even if you had a subscription already to match.com, and thought it was the same, why would you put your credit card number in twice. Duh, you were signing up to a different website. Pay more attention and maybe you wouldnt have to complain about something just so you dont feel like a stupid ###.

Match.com 6mo guarantee is a rip off!

I joined match.com to find my last true love, i joined for 6months, with a 6mo guarantee. After my 6months where up, i didn't get my 6mo free, i followed all there rules, i notified them of the problem, i even wrote the president of match.com, still they have not kept there word, my advice to people thinking of joining match.com is find a site that keeps there word & has customer service people that take care of the customer. I think match.com is running a racket! Don't join!

Sincerely,

Similar to most of the comments and justified accurate complaints on this page, this Matchcom system is indeed a big rip-off and scam. It just passed that 6 month date last week meeting all of the 6 month Guarantee criteria. The criteria is sending out 5 emails a month. However, I sent out about 50 emails a month and for each moth, the system said I was doing good. However, at the end of the 6th month all of a sudden I did not qualify for some made up new reasons I never heard of and could barely understand the customer service representative when they tried to explain their false statements. Rather than get for free, I received a charge on my credit card of $143.97 for another six months. It was becoming a full time job talking to different customer service people who all had the same story of deception and putting on hold for at least an hour or more. They read there "Script", handed down from upper management and probably have to comply or they get fired. As of August 2016, they have a new "refund system". When you try to use the new refund system, all of a sudden their big bully customer service rep gets on the phone and says "you are not entitled to a refund" due to some administrative mistake "you" made by not filling out some silly criteria or by not checking the vague box in the account settings. They won't admit they are wrong about anything. Don't bother fighting their scam like I did with 3 hours on the phone getting nowhere except in deeper confusion with their games. If you paid with a credit card, just call your credit company and dispute it, and have them not make payment to Matchcom. A good credit card company will usually be on your side.
THIS IS A SUPER SCAM! Boycott, and if affected by this scam, start or join a class action suit(s).

Yes, I experienced the same thing. I did everything every month, but still didn't get the free 6 months. They are liars. If you email them, they never respond. Luckily, my account was not charged a penny, because long before I cancel the renew option on my PayPal. I don't want to waste my time on something doesn't work. Half of the profiles you see are fake or non subscribers. So, what's the point? I recommend POF instead. I actually met a few nice guys and you don't need to break your bank just to contact members.

I just finished my six months program with match, I complied with all program requirements after 6 moths I don't received any free another 6 month. Match was trying to charge my cr card for another 6 moths so I cancel my subscription. There is no any guarantee. Same 6 months match scam happened with me about 2 years ago; I complied with all rules but was not able to get any future 6 months. Match support service is simply ignoring all my requests - I'm under impression that there are no amy humans in customer service - only robots. Very bad and disappointing experience. I'm trying now some other dating services.

After I did everything right to get the 6 month guaranteed, I was under the assumption that I already got the 6 month free, until I opened my credit card statement! The full 6 month term is already charged on my card. I called the customer service on Match and complained, but he said it’s too late and cannot do anything for me. He said I was supposed to notify them that I did not meet someone special and “claim” the free member ship at the end of the 6 month term. I complained, but he said he’s being doing this for a long time, and he knows there is nothing they would do about it. This is so wrong in many levels and I think they do this on purpose to scam us. I will not come back to this site again.

This is true about lie with 6 months free after 6-mon subscription is over. And I guess I was lucky that I got another credit card, so the old one wasn't valid - thanks to my luck I wasn't charged for the next 6 months by full price as I see other members were charged.
After 6 months of my subscription was over, my communication stopped and I saw a page with prices to pay and subsriibe. "help"doesn't work - it always has:

Match.com is a total rip off. They do fake profiles with fake pics to lure you in. They offer you 6 months free after you pay for the first six months if you do not find a match, that is a down right lie, they do not give you the free six months that you were promised when signing up, and then they charge your credit card another 99.00 for another six months. When you call them they say, "Sorry you didn't qualify for the free six months. I told them I don't want their service any longer and I was not happy with the first six months and certainly do not want to pay for another six months, but they will not refund the money they took from your credit card. They said you used our service for one day into the next six months and now our system cannot refund your money. I'm like are you kidding ME? You are charging me $99.00 for one day? This web site should be shut down and who ever runs it should go to jail for fraud! and for Robbery! This is just so wrong. I would be happy to be included in a class action suit against these clowns.

I had the six-month guarantee and followed their requirements EVERY single month. When it stated I met all of my requirements for the six months, I stopped looking at the status since it said it was complete. I then received my credit card statement and found that I had been charged for another six months, yet I KNOW I met their requirements! I contacted them that very same day, and they state that they "can't tell" if I met my requirements because it is not visible to them after 30 days. (My credit card statement came a little over 1 month after they added the fee - they charged it right after by previous billing.) They informed me that they send a message to the guarantee "status site" (one you would have to know to click on and find the message that you don't know is coming) asking if I have met someone that I have to answer within 7 days. If I don't answer that question, they cancel the guarantee and charge your card. I checked the guarantee status site, which had been available all along, and found out that it was conveniently down. I was appalled. This is definitely dishonest. 1) They should definitely have access to see your actions. If they are legitimate, they should be able to keep that tracking for as long as there is time for someone to dispute a charge they add without the member's permission. When the person gets the bill, they definitely should be able to check the person's status/eligibility, but they deny being able to. 2) they should email you directly, not try to put it in an obscure area for a very limited time-- and truthfully, if you are still actively on Match it is obvious you are still looking at haven't found your "match". It answers their own question. The question that they put in an obscure area is an attempt for them to get out of their guarantee. It is not shown on the guarantee status site prior...it said I met all requirements. 3) they should be honoring their end of the contract. Period. If their status bar had told me I met ALL of my requirements, which it did, there should not be this unethical method to try to not grant their guarantee and charge you for another six months. Talking to the manager and the Resolutions Dept did nothing...they just say the "can't see" if I met my end of the bargain, which is just an excuse to follow through with their guarantee and try to charge you more money...a lot more money because they charge for another six months. When you dispute the charge, they drop your site...so they ensure they do not give you the six months' free that you earned and that drew you to that longer duration of signing up in the first place. This is definitely an unethical way to try to increase their revenue with unauthorized charges.

Match.com six month guarantee is false advertising and a scam. I was not informed of the criteria. I think a class action suit is in order

I am surprised to see I am not the only one who experienced this same problem. I subscribed for their "6 months guranteed" program which PROMISES the member if he/she has not found the right one, he/she will automatically get another 6 months free membership. Well, it just turned out this promise is nothing more than a catch. My 6 months membership just got terminated without any notification. I called the customer care to see what happened to their "6 months gurantee", they told me that they wouldn't be able to provide that due to my "lack of activities". I told them I have been active by trying different methods of communications such as phone and personal emails etc. they said they need see the "progress" of having at leat 5 new dates every month. Then I told them if I wasn't being active, why would I bother to call them to active my membership instead of just letting go? I even told them that I know they give free membership to some people in order to keep them on this site, my date told me that he just keep getting free monthly
membership because match.com wants to keep him. Not to mention my request is totally legitimate abiding by the contract. I am so upset and disappointed with their fake promise and hostile customer services. Now I am disgusted by this site and wouldn't get on there anyway. It's all about them making money not helping other people as they "PROMISE"!

Match.com unethical business practices

This website has significant issues including but not limited to; unauthorized sharing of secured information such as personal email address, unstable database &/or interface, poor or non-existent tech support, dishonest customer service, poor load times for pages, inconsistent views, dysfunctional features such as favorites, blocking other member, and visibility or invisibility of profile. Most insulting of all, they accept advertising and member fees, and offer absolutely no ability to acquire a refund. Don't waste money or time with this website.

Email I sent to IAC's (corporation that owns Match) head of Corporate Communications and CEO Frankly I expect no response. However as a public corporation they do need to abide by certain ethical standards of conduct. I am happy to share the email not so much for its content but to say don't waste your time complaining to Match. greg.blatt@iac.com is whom your complaints should go. He is the CEO of IAC and was the CEO of Match until recently.

If I wanted to take the time I could directly contact several people on your Board of Directors having been in the business a long time. I recently had a highly troubling experience with Match CO where I was merely doing as a 30 day experiment to understand the model. I was stalked, violated by a man who left out of his bio that he is bi-sexual. Luckily my good sense prevailed and I am fine. The response I received from Match was unacceptable in every way and I am considering legal action unless I hear back from a senior corporate executive

I totally agree!
Very unethical business practices. They only want you're money, that's their only concern. You are not a concern at all.

If you want to be visible there's only ONE way, by paying the fee, so what's the use of that free registration?... that people exist... everybody knows that! just go out and look! or look in the internet in better places than match.com

It's not difficult to figure out they're a bunch of liars. And I read fully terms of service.

Match.com terminated my account after I expressed wish not to be billed for the next session. Upon complaint they replied that the account was frozen for private reasons which they could not disclose unless I directed a valid subpoena to Match.com, LLC.

I agree! They have a total lack of customer service I used the email option and called in to no avail..in the meantime my membership expired and I never solved the problem (could not get winks) and I never received any credit for the time during my subscription that my page was not functioning.

I've sent mutliple messages, and now match automatically deletes my messages, I know because I setup an response to my email so I could see if they read the messages...no my suspicions were confirmed, they just automatically delte them.
