nigerian romance scam
I was always reluctant to internet dating as i am very "old school". I registered on the three day trial on match.com. On the same day i was approached by many but one caught my attention. We chatted for hours and hours, next day. . The same things. We had so much in common that i started to think the match.com really works! On the third day he asked me to go to yahoo messenger and to delete my profile from match as he wanted to be exclusive.
After two weeks and many promises of forever love, sending flowers and brain manipulation; he asked for money. I knew then and there that this was a scam!
There should be more screening done when it comes to internet dating.
Romance scam is the new mafia and needs to stop!
This individual who calls himself kelly morgan (Living in orlando but working in nigeria) probably used a stolen ccard to purchase membership as well as the flowers. A verification of the credit card at the time of registration should at least screen these monsters.
Ladies beware, kelly is coming for you!

false promise of 6 months gurantee
I subscribed for their "6 months guarantee" program which PROMISES the member if he/she has not found the right one, he/she will automatically get another 6 months free membership. Well, it just turned out this promise is nothing more than a catch. My 6 months membership just got terminated without any notification. I called the customer care to see what happened to their "6 months guarantee", they told me that they wouldn't be able to provide that due to my "lack of activities". I told them I have been active by trying different methods of communications such as phone and personal emails etc. they said they need see the "progress" of having at least 5 new emails every month. Then I told them if I wasn't being active, why would I bother to call them to active my membership instead of just letting go? I even told them that I know they give free membership to some people in order to keep them on this site, my date told me that he just keep getting free monthly
membership because match.com wants to keep him. Not to mention my request is totally legitimate abiding by the contract. I am so upset and disappointed with their fake promise and hostile customer services. Now I am disgusted by this site and wouldn't get on there anyway. It's all about them making money not helping other people as they "PROMISE"!
ADDEENDUM: They also dropped my profile, so they are definitely not even allowing the next six months per their guarantee. If you dispute their billing, which of course I am, they drop your profile. Definitely not even remotely honoring their six-month guarantee.
I had the six-month guarantee and followed their requirements every single month. When it stated I met all of my requirements for the six months, I stopped looking at the status. I then received my credit card statement and found that I had been charged for another six months, yet I KNOW I met their requirements! I contacted them that very same day, and they state that they "can't tell" if I met my requirements because it is not visible to them after 30 days. (My credit card statement came 1 month after they added the fee.) They informed me that they send a message to the guarantee status site (one you would have to know to click on and find the message that you don't know is coming) asking if I have met someone that I have to answer within 7 days, or they cancel the guarantee and charge your card. I was appalled. This is definitely dishonest. 1) They should definitely have access to see your actions. If they are legitimate, they should be able to keep that tracking for as long as there is time for someone to dispute a charge they add without the member's permission. When the person gets the bill, they definitely should be able to check the person's status, but they deny being able to. 2) they should email you directly, not try to put it in an obscure area for a very limited time-- and truthfully, if you are still actively on Match it is obvious you are still looking at haven't found your "match". It answers their own question. 3) they should be honoring their end of the contract. If their status bar had told me I met ALL of my requirements, which it did, there should not be this unethical method to try to not grant their guarantee and charge you for another six months. Talking to the manager and the Resolutions Dept did nothing...they just say the "can't see" if I met my end of the bargain, which is just an excuse to follow through with their guarantee and try to charge you more money...a lot more money because they charge for another six months.
renewal without notification
Hi
I have emailed Match.com to ask them to stop sending me email so I should no longer be a member,
but emails still keep coming, in fact I am getting even more introductions than before.
Their conditions state that they can take another subscription in 6 months time UNLESS YOU CANCEL FIRST.
Ask yourself -
Is there a membership cancellation button on Match.com site? No
Is there a contact email on Match.com site? No
Do they ask you if you still wish to continue your membership No
Do they notify you that they are going to take another subscription No
What happens if you do not cancel your membership They charge another subscription
What should you do to stop this Change your credit card number
What happens when you ask them to stop sending emails Nothing
Would you find any Match.com complaints on Google Many - many about payments taken.
What does Consumer direct say?
With regards to the trader' failure to provide you with adequate notification of the renewal, you may be able to argue that this term is unfair under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999 (UTCCRs), which protect consumers against unfair terms in contracts that you enter into with trader.

They've done the same to me. God knows how many years more they would have charged me if I hadn't noticed, quite by chance. It seems very unfair to carry on billing you when you haven't logged on for over a year. I wish I could take these unethical people to the cleaners, but how.
it won't let me log in
I tried and tried and tried to log on to match .com and it won't let me after I had given them my credit card number. It isn't after the the 3 days for free and I can't get any help from a person. I went to the help area which told me that I was probably entering the wrong password but when I answered the right questions and it sent me an email it gave me the same password that I was typing in. Tried to go back in to redo my membership to make sure it wasn't a mistake I made and it just won't work. HELP! This company should have better customer service that this.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I also cannot log in, even after getting an email with my same password, it still tells me that it is incorrect. All I wanted to do was cancel the automated match emails I get every five minutes, and customer support offers no assistance.
Carrie, this same thing just happened to me as of today.. Some girls from work was going to put me on Match.com just playing around and I finally went ahead and paid the 3month subscription but now I can't even log in.. Did you ever fix your problem? If so please tell me a number to call because I'm furious they have my account info and I can't even access the account..
private profile "magically" become public
Months ago I set my Match.com profile to Private. I did not want to be seen by anyone. After a long absence from the site I logged in only to discover that my profile had magically become public. How many people viewed my profile against my wishes? I changed my profile to private, confirmed that it was private and then updated my profile, removing items and deselecting choices (by setting them to "no preference") just in case my profile magically became public once again. Just prior to logging off I checked my profile and sure enough, it had been set back to public. For the second time I set it private and sent them an email requesting that my account be deleted. As far as I can tell, there is no user action available to delete your account. Pretty sleazy.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Maybe you were doing it wrong. Also you should do an internet search first, http://blog.entrustet.com/digital-executor-toolbox/match-com-death-policy-how-to-delete-match-com-account/ as you can do that yourself.
Match.com - can't unsubscribe
I have been trying to unsubscribe from match.com almost the day after I subscribed to it. There isn't a place to unsubscribe and the websites they gave me to unsubscribe do not work. It should be illegal for people to be forced to remain on their website and they should not give false information about how to unsubscribe. I have their name in my junk mail...

I subscribed for 1 month with match.com. The company has a policy of automatically renewing your subscription and charging your bank account without notifying you. This rips off the consumer who should be protected from companies that deliberately set out to deceive consumers. A 1 month subscription should be exactly that.

MATCH.COM should change their name to THIEVES.COM
Match.com charged me without authorization for several months and billed my charge card. I had only signed up for a one month trial. They claim that I was supposed to cancel but they did not state this when I took the trial. There was no visible way to cancel on the email when I signed up, nor at any time thereafter. They did not answer their phone, but put me on eternal "hold" with a message that all their operators were busy and to "call back at another time." There was no way to email them as I would send the emails, but they would not reply with a "message sent" and never replied. Basic, Match.com stole my money and ran. In addition, their geographical filter was not working, or maybe they just don't have the membership, as Match.com sent me Matches from all over the USA and even the UK when I specified 250 miles of my city on their filter. I think everyone is on Plenty of Fish.com because POF.com is free and Match.com just operates by resorting to fraud.
I received over 1, 000 replies near my city from POF with exactly the same profile and photos at exactly the same time I was on Match and went on a dozen dates in around a month. I received next to no local replies on Match. POF is free. I think Match. is a total fraud (and no this is not a plug for POF). Match.com has stolen my money. They took my money and ran. You can never get Match.com off your charge card--even if you change your charge card number, they follow you to the next number. Match.com should change their name to THIEVES.COM Marie Wright
active status
Has anyone had any problems with a profile saying "Active within 24 hours, 3 days, etc..." without the profile actually being accessed or active within that time frame?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Yes, when not logged in, and if you search on your profile it seems to reset the "inactivity" timer. I know this is true that you've used to access match.com before. I don't know if it is true for a computer that has never logged on to match.com. Calling it a scam is a bit harsh, but I do think this is a bug.
Yeah I'm currently having that trouble now. I signed out of my profile making sure auto sign in wasn't turned on. Then I decided to search for my profile as a free member, not logged in. Somehow, my status was that I was currently online even though I signed out out already. I should have listened to other people who warned never to get match.com, it is a scam!
Match.com - cannot stop emails from match.com
Cannot stop this company (if you can even call it that) from sending me emails EVERY day with "matches" they have selected for me. I never even joined or paid them anything ! I was curious about Match.com and signed up for a FREE trial. Every day they send me emails with pictures of the creepiest looking men that I would never even think of talking to let...

Every day I receive winks from men between 45-55 who claim to be widows. All the ads say that they're seeking a woman in mid-30s to mid 60s. These ads are all have beautiful ads that sounds too good to be true - very romantic, looking for love, marriage, etc. They all indicate an income over over 150k and that they're seeking a woman of any size and proportion. Usually, the profile is unavailable within a short time. I have never responded to any, but what is the big deal here? Match.com widow ads

I worked for Match.com, from experience I believe that they are bogus accounts, and the reason the profiles only appeared for a few days is because Match.com shut them dowm as "fraud". Nigerians open accounts using stolen charge card information in order to scam other members out of money. When Match.com is alerted to an account that appears to be bogus, they immediately shut down the account. As sson as Match.com shuts them down, the Nigerians open another one using other information from a stolen charge card number. It's an on going cycle. Be careful and never send money to any members.
unauthorized charges
This company charged my debit card without pin authorization in the amount of $59.97. Obviously stole my number. I did not authorize this charge and have never had anything to do with them or any company like them.

billing renewal
Twice I have pre-selected to not auto-renew my subscription approximately a couple months in advance and twice it has been renewed and charged to my credit card [I work in the IT industry and confirmed it was set correctly each time]. The first time I called to request a refund and cancel the subscription but told I could not. A lawyer friend and I are taking screen captures after I have set it to not auto-renew. At various points throughout the year we will document using witness verification of that status during the valid subscription period.

Match.com - uninformed termination of account
I had been a member of the site, Match.com for more than 2 years at least. On the 5th of October, i made a payment of a one month subscription and was happily using the site, updating my profiles and pictures. On the 6th of October, I couldn't log in anymore and was advised to contact Customer Care. Customer Care informed me that I have violated the Term...

Match.com just sent me an email, saying that certain guys had sent me an email. Of course, none of those guys had sent me an email. Match had sent me the email by error - I had recently subscribed, and could see that none of those guys on the email had sent me an email.
It is rather a nasty thing of Match.com to engage in such a practice.

charges
Today is Sept. 9, 2009
On Sept. 6, 2009, I was charged on my Visa account $101.94 by WMV*Match.com. I had no idea what that charge was. I called my credit card company and they contacted WMV*Match.com. TI was told this is the corporate site for Match.com. I had signed up 3/6/09 on Match.com only because they offered the promotion " Sign up for 6 months and if you don't find someone, get 6 months free."
However, according to the customer service person I spoke with, you HAVE to keep your profie posted with photo for 6 months AND send 5 emails monthly. What? I didn't have that many men I was interested in to send 5 emails monthly. Match.com said I would still have to pay the new charge even if I took my profile down! What? I replied that I was NOT paying for 6 more months of their service if I couldn't find anyone, when I understood I was to receive 6 months free. Then they said they would "PRORATE" my membership for this month at a cost of approx. $34. I said I'd pay for 3 days: 9/6. 9/7, and 9/8 - and no more. The next step was to put me on hold while Match.com rep spoke with a manager. They came back and said as a "one time complimentary" service they would refund the $101.94 charge and my profile would be removed. The credit would take several days.
Lesson learned: Be sure to read the fine print even if you have to research for it. If it sounds too good to be true, then is probably is a scam . . .
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The woman says that she can't find enough men. What a joke.
I have sent out hundreds of emails and thousands of winks and have gotten very few responses.
I have only met two women from match.com in person. And they were nothing compared to the girls I pick up in clubs or on the street and yet these women on match.com (and I doubt there are really that many) think that they are too good for us guys.
This woman deserves to pay every penny of what she was charged for being stupid. And she should pay for 4 guys memberships for not even attempting to get to know them.
abused subscriber
Match.com does not disclose which members can read emails and which ones can't. As a paying subscriber I waste a lot of time reading profiles and sending emails to people who are not paying subscribers and can not open the email that I send to them. Match.com does this hoping that the non paying members who receive an email will then become a paying subscriber. In others words Match.com is using there paying subscribers to entice non paying subscribers to become paying subscribers so that they can read the email that they receive.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
3 days, yes, match waited until the 3rd day to tell me my profile was not accepted? Why, I put my age at 99, why did I do that, for security reasons. Why did march wait until the 3rd day, simple, after 2 days you can not get your money back. I called citibank, and I have to go through hell to get 158bucks back, so I am closing my citibank account. I refuse to do business with a bank that does not stand behind their customers.
Never join match.. This site is a scam from hell. It is unethical and deserves a class action suit.
I will be calling the ftc and filing as many complaints as possible.
I find it interesting that some of "my matches" remain the same age year after year while I get older. I have asked for access to their secret because I too do not want to age but have not received an answer as of yet. I'm getting older by the minute and looking less pretty at the same time.
Thanks.
my name is kelvin josh and I registered match.com but I can't access my account anymore after I paid for one month so I can chat with people.. I need to know what happen.. My email is kelvinjosh137@yahoo.com Will look forward to resolving the problem for me ..
Thanks
Be aware that the cancellation link inbedded in Match.com's page labeled "cancel/resign subscription" ironically does not always operate. The verbiage goes on to say- "you may continue to use " your subscription until the expiration date. And of course I did, however, it was 3/17/11 and I realized- why is the account still active? Match.com states the responsibility falls to the consumer. So the only way I see the consumer would have control over NOT being automatically charged is to no use the Match.com site. This has happened to me more than once-you'd think I'd learn!
Match cares to take your money, but does not care for their customers. Understand that you forfeit your personal information once you give it to Match. I was told by agent 20740 that my information cannot be removed from the data base. It can only "disabled".
Also, they will abuse your card info.
I was with Match for over a year and when i did not need their services Match did not refund a withdraw on the 2 withdrawn on the 30. Note: they had no permission for automatic renewal. I am aware now, in small print to the side, it states all subscriptions automatically renewed. They want you to miss it, to take advatage.
MATCH IS UNETHICAL, be ready.
Warning everyone Match permanently keeps your profile and credit card information indefinately even though your profile maybe hidden they chose not to give you that option to take your information and delete it..I think it is a violation of privacy and I scream HIPPA...dont use them unless you want them to have access..and also back on 2017 scam artist approached me from nigeria asking for money..but here it is 2017 and they keep your personal information..
I had called them yesterday too check up on who the heck had taken $ 19.95 from my account, & they said I had a free trial ! I agreed with them, but then asked them, why did you take $19.95 from my account, they came up with all kind of (excuse me please, B/S answers) !I spoke to Brian he told me that anything I would have purchased over the internet(bla, bla), I would have saved 70% on anything ! BOLOGNA ! Anyway, I made sure that they cancelled me, (period, as far as I am concerned), & had them send me a fax, because I do not believe a word they say !They're phone # is [protected], so anybody would like to check up you protect yourself from this so called company, Please give them a call to make sure that you aren't on their list of being hunted !
They sent me an e-mail claiming that someone was interested but they are doing this in an effort to try and sign me up for paid service. Very dishonest and manipulative.
HI, Match .com which I no longer subscribe to have also been taking unauthorised card payments from me for £19.99 on a monthly basis which I can ill afford, I have the same problem with zoosk and also had a the same problem with eHarmony however after sending an email to eHarmony threatening them with the the financial services Ombudsman they have apologised to me and are returning two unauthorised payments to my account . It is unfortunate that both zoosk and match.com are completely ignoring my requests, I send this email in the hope that once again you can help . Thank you Gayle Colquhoun
This is the 2nd time I have been on match.com and I swear it will be my last, it has been the worse...I started my 3 mos subscription on May 27th, 2017, I was quickly charged $59.97...One of my first encounters was with a man who claimed he was a jeweler starting a new business 12 minutes from my home, he turned out to be a Scammer asking for money working out of Ghana..I also encountered 6 other scammers, 3 other men straight out asking for explicit sex...so what did I pay for..on July 5th I received an email stating my 3mos would soon be up and if I wanted to renew just ignore this email and my credit card would be automatically charged and if I did not, please cancel no so that my card would not be charged on August 27. I canceled, I received an email stating that my credit card would absolutely not be charged, on August 29th, I noticed on my Bank statement a charge from match.com for $59.97...There lame explanation is that I did not have the right to use the website until August 27th, that if I canceled in July I should have never gone back on, I reactivated it...I asked why they sent the email stating I was ok...same lame answer repeatedly..oh and try to get a US person on the Phone forget it...Everyone is in the Dominican..no offense..so if you can get thru the scammers and the credit card fraud, Good luck, but if you dont want to deal with their Fraudulent ways I suggest you cancel your credit card the minute after the first charge hits if you ever want to cancel, they keep charging even when you tell them no, and forget about getting back Bank FEEs...they dont care and will not help...noreason ever to go back on..thats my code name.
fraud, bogus profiles
I have been a member of Match for about 2 and 1/2 yrs. This week I wrote to them asking how someone can request contact with a subscriber without viewing their profile. Within about 15 minutes I had 8 new winks, total of 12 that day. More than I have gotten in a month. All were from out of state, all profiles were no longer available. One was from NY, while doing a random search I saw the same picture here in MI. Same picture, totally different profiles. I believe these to be bogus profiles, printed both. Someone sitting at Match.com patronizing me. I have requested a full refund for this 3 month membership, haven't heard back from them.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
And I thought the only winks were from out of state. Totally worthless ripoff site as opposed to others where I know people who met eventual mates. They should be shut down
I was receiving bogus profiles for months after I had taken my profile down.
While my profile was up I received almost no matches from within my specified are 250 miles from my city. I had the exact same profile with same photos on Plenty of Fish.com
and POF sent me nearly a thousand matches near my city during the same month as I was on Match.com, while Match sent me only a couple of profiles near my city--but spammed me with fake profiles from all over the USA including the UK. Match also autosubscribed me without authorization and billed my charge card.
I am having the same thing happen. The bogus profiles are obvious because of the pix and because of the content and selected profile items such as Education, Occupation, Salary, etc. -- combinations of the three make no sense. The spelling is horrible for supposedly well-educated individuals.
Farce -- don't understand the reasoning behind it. I've been a member for several years as well and have met "real" individuals. Seems like the instances are increasing and don't recall it being an issue in the past.
Frustrating. Aggravating.
I wrote Match this morning about the issue and received standard, canned reply.
What's the deal?
hacked and no reply
Within 48 hours of subscribing to this website, my account was hijacked. Customer Service indicated I would be contacted within 72 hours and that I would get an e-mail detailing process. Multiple calls later and past the dealine, I have received no e-mails, no call, and no refund from the company. Worst customer service follow-up I have ever experienced!

yesterday i logined match.com and paid three months fees, however, today i recevied two emails about someone changed my email and password. now, i can not login match. the hacker email is kelvin_kent1@hotmail.com

keep charging my credit card after cancel
I have tried for MONTHS to cancel my membership and get refunds. They claim if you don't find a match in six months they will give you six months free. They don't. It's a scam. Don't fall prey to these scam artists.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Match .com will give you an additional six month memberrship as long as you meet the qualications of that promotional. In order to cancel your membership, just call their customer service number, make sure you get a confirmation nuber. If further charges appear, call them and explain the situation, they'll ask you for a confirmation number. They will refund any additional charges to your charge account, but you must have a confirmation number.

Thank god mastercard red - flagged my card. There had been numerous attempts to charge on my card (Some successful) from, match.com, proflowers.com and macy's. I am hopeing to be refunded, but because of these hackers have to wait to get a new card, and my good credit back. There was a total of over 4000. 00 attempted to fraudulently charge, with only 300. 00, too much, have been charged.
