MasterCuts ruined and threatened

I spent $200 and my hair was ruined. Not only that but I was also threatened to have the cops called on me because I was questioning what they were charging me because I didn't understand why I should have to pay for what they messed up on. My hair was originally brown I asked for blonde and light brown highlights and I received orange hair twice in the same day.. I was told there was nothing that could be done.. it was my fault and that she should have been off of work at 4 pm and it was 5pm. I never refused to pay I just wanted an explanation. They jumped down my throat and told me if I didn't have the money to pay I should come in to get anything done. I also was threatened to have the cops called more than 20 times. I do not recommend them because they obviously can not complete a simple step in the hair business but because I did not feel safe.

MasterCuts bad customer service/didn't receive results I paid for.

I left my guest feedback once again and they ignored it as well, but this is what I wrote them too.

My review on yelp after I was contacted by the Mastercuts' representative from the following store that I had my service done. Below explains how I was treated and there do not wish to allow the store manager to work on my hair. You can find the comparison photo of the model and my results on yelp as well. Please look into having managers who are more experienced in handling customer service. I've never had an issue like this with Mastercuts in other states before.

This review is solely upon their customer service.

I recently had an "ombré" done here. I called ahead and asked them if they had time for a haircut and color.
The lady who was my stylist is named Kim.
Who in fact is a very nice lady (but I'm rating their service).
It was weird that she didn't cut my hair first before coloring it, but I didn't mind Kim asking me to come back another day for the cut.
I was hesitate to email customer service on my ombré, because Kim is a nice lady and I don't like to get people into any trouble.
But in the past other stylist have told me to mention something, so the stylist can improve.
I decided to email customer service on my guest feedback and they got back with me within 24 hours.
The thing is, the "manager" of the store spoke with me very rudely on the phone. She mentioned of how she spoke with the stylist and didn't understand the complaint whenever the stylist had warned me that she wouldn't be able to get my hair as light as the photo I had shown them for a guide. Especially with color being in my hair from 8 months prior to this service.

I simply tried to tell her that the color wasn't the issue, while she gave me an attitude and told me to let her see it so she can fix it.

Who would want to let someone (who makes you sound like a hassle) work on you?

MasterCuts refusal of right

An employee threatened to hurt me to the manager after she had stopped her job to go smoke cigarettes. She treated customers unfair after they saw me accepting their business, and when she got done smoking wanted to service clients after she walked out by then the customers asked if she could be my client.

Manager refused let me sell retail after her district manager told her i was following procedures while doing my job because she was jealous. She made me work and put the sells under her name while she styled her clients. Manager constantly was taking her family in to receive free services congesting salon.

MasterCuts don't go there

If any of you are interested in taking a job at Mastercuts, think twice! They could care less about their employees. We have a 23 year old manager that treats you like your 5 years old. Even if you're older than her, she has absolutley no respect for you! This ### needs to practice what she preaches! She'll tell you things that your not supposed to do and I swear the very next day she'll be doing exactly what she told you not to do. She will write you up for anything and everything that you do and don't do... Such as not folding towels. How childish is that? If you request a copy of your write, you can forget that. Their so called company policy won't allow them to give you a copy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but anything that goes onto MY EMPLOYMENT RECORDS is my business too!

They were desperate to find new workers in September 2008 because all of their staff quit. So they offered to make a $1, 000 hire on bonus for any new employee. We have not seen any portion of that $1, 000 yet! They are FAKE they are LIARS and I'm so shameful to even admit that I am employed by them!

If you buy something there and you'd like to make a return, you better think twice! They won't give you your money back! They will make you call a number that might possibly send you a check within a few months.

Just to give you an example, 7 of our girls have left since December. They weren't planning on leaving, but they just had a change of heart after working for this new manager (or should I say monster). Believe me, they do not pay you enough to put up with this ###. They only offer MINIMUM WAGE and rarely give raises to ANYONE! I might as well work at Burger King (no offense)!

If you have a problem at work and the manager is off duty, you better think twice before you call her to ask for help. She will either ignore all of your phone calls without returning them, or get really pissed off that you called her. Isn't it a managers job to MANAGE her store?!?!?! Oh and don't even think about trying to go above her and call the supervisor. The supervisor could also give two ### about you. She will do exactly the same thing. How do we get rid of this girl?

So if your a hairstylist and you're looking for a new job, DON'T GO TO MASTERCUTS! They only care about how much money you're making for them, they don't care about you as an individual. You will eventually find out for yourself what a cheating company they are.

MasterCuts bad hair cut

I went in Saturday June 25, 2011 for three haircuts. One for myself and two for my grandson's One of the boys haircuts was supposed to be a regular boys haircut.
Much to my astonishment the hair was a chop job. My grandson's hair looked as though a two year old had gotten a pair of scissors and cut a big hunk of hair out of his hair all the way up to his scalp. When asked what type of hair cut was this the stylist procceded to explain it was a finger length scissor hair cut. I was not able to pick up any hair with my fingers other than the two long pieces of hair left on each side of the bald spot. Another stylist tried to fix the bad hair chopping job but needless to say he still has a bald spot on his forehead a bald spot on the side of his head and hair that is REALLY SHORT. The haircut was not even evenly cut throughout the top of his hair and I instructed no sideburns and the other stylist removed the sideburns. The stylist had not been cutting hair very long according to his supervisor and co-worker. I had to ask how did he even pass the state bar exam. I have had their haircut as well as my own cut at schools for stylist training and not had a haircut that looked this bad.

I just had the worst haircut of my life at the MasterCuts in Jensen Beach Fl. My hair was just past my shoulders and straight. Had to go back next day to fix it. I now have very short hair and chunks missing from sides and un even all over. It is so bad and short ( chin length) No other hair salon will touch me until it grows some. I am so upset and humiliated I can't stop crying. Please stay away from MasterCuts.

MasterCuts hair mutilation

I went to the Master Cuts salon in the Cross Creek Mall to have my hair which was at my waist cut into a shoulder length bob which is exactly what I told the salon employee. The sides and front were cut as I requested, the back was NOT.
The area in the back was cut in some kind of short uneven shag and I can not even put my hair up now, it is like a upside down V ( the side longer and the middle TOO SHORT). The salon employee did NOT do as I asked and now I have to wait til my hair grows out just to get it corrected. I will not use this salon again and will tell everyone that I know NOT to use this chop shop.

MasterCuts manager, cassie

This women is not fit to be the manager of this salon or any business for that matter! What a rude, nasty piece of work this one is. If Master Cuts has ever wondered why there is such a turn over of staff here, well she is the answer. Not only does she go out of her way to insult the staff in front of customers, she has actually been seen physically shoving new staff out of her way when she has had to fix a mistake they made at checkout. This manager has been seen picking her scabs and putting her finger in her ears and actually EATING what ever comes out on her fingers RIGHT IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS! She has not been afraid to voice her prejudice against doing black people's hair and GOD forbid one of her staff have a black boyfriend, for she has gone as far as to threaten this stylist with being fired if her black friend stops by to say hi all the time never saying anything to the other stylists when their white friends stop in and stay visiting for some time! How does this women get away w/ such behavoir ? Because she brags about how her bosses are her best friends and she has made manager because she turns all and any employees in on even the smallest infraction. If she isn't firing stylists for being too good at their jobs and making her look like the slob she is and trust me for being in the beauty bis. she really is quite unkepted and chubby to boot, she got these girls quitting over the badgering she gives them. It's about time Master Cuts got the real scoop on this manager and got rid of her and maybe they can keep some good staff and start having this salon make money for this company instead of always losing money and time with such a large turnover in stylists!

MasterCuts poor customer service

Went into the store and wanted to get my haircut and colored I explained how I wanted it cut and colored the lady that I was talking to was rude so of coarse I asked for someone else to cut my hair so I sat down in the chair she combed out my hair style sectioned off my hair and said she would be back she had to get the hair color she returned a few minutes later and told me that she could not color my hair because she was new to the store and that the store manager wasnt there for her to mix color so I asked what about the other lady that was working and she told me that she refused to mix it because I didnt want her to do my hair mind you I got to the store at 300 in the after noon she said that there was not enought time to do it anyways cause they closed at 8. The lady doing my hair felt really bad about what happened I let her go ahead and cut my hair in which she did a great job and still apologizing for the other lady. I called the store manager the next day and I was told that she was sorry for the problem not even to say that she would look into it or anything very unprofessional then I said that I would still like to come and get the color and she told me no that I would have to make an appoinment that the store is really busy talk about putting someone out and not making the problem right where is the customer service in this situation?

I'm a cosmetology student [about to be interviewed at a Mastercuts which is why I'm reading reviews of them] and first of all that stylist being new is no excuse for not being able to mix the color, since that's one big thing that at least should be learned at cosmetology school...or at least during the stylist training from the salon. Plus I agree that it wasn't right that you had to make an appointment to later get the color done since it wasn't your fault that you couldn't get it done there in the first place, although they possibly knew that they would be so busy over the next couple days that they really couldn't squeeze you in.

MasterCuts bad hair cut

I went in and got a hair cut. Very uneven went back the next day and told sorry there is nothing we can do for you. I called headquaters and they refuse to do anything for me. I filed a complaint with the bbb and since master cuts did nothing they closed the case. I do not recommend anyone getting their hair cut at their store. They will mess up your hair and you will have to go somewhere else to get it fixed at your expense. Terrible company to deal with. They hide behind everything they can and do not post their licences as required by law. I highly recommend that you go elsewhere and do not utilitize this store.

I visited your Cherry Vale Mall store on Saturday night and had a chop shop done on my hair, . Did not get the haircut I wanted nor was it even. I noticed it being as off as it was when it was dry. So, on Sunday I went back to have it fixed only to be told that it is against COMPANY POLICY for anyone else to touch me except for the stylist that created the mess. I then told the stylists working that would not be happening. I was then told me that maybe the manager would be able to fix it and very rudely told me that I have to call the manager and let her know. Never did either of the stylists that where working apologize for the problem and the other stylist that was working was sitting there with her legs hanging over the arm of the chair – did not look professional at all. She was also the same one working last night sitting the same way. I then informed the stylists working that I would be going to my bank since I paid with credit card and have the charges reversed only to be told once again IT IS AGAINST COMPANY POLICY for you to get any refund of any sort. When I asked to see a copy of this policy was told once again IT IS AGAINST COMPANY POLICY for you to see our policy. The stylist that did this mess never gave me a receipt nor was I offered a Gold Card. I was told that if I wanted it fixed that day I would have to pay for another hair cut. I am really dissatisfied with the service that I received.

Most places when there is a problem will ask you for your name and number to have the manager contact you, but this must be AGAINST COMPANY POLICY to better serve your customers.

I would like to know where this MC is. I'm a magaer for the company and I assure you that you would not have received that service in my salon. As to the license display, it varies by state. Here in IN they have to be displayed above each station. In WI, they require you to put them all on a big display board and in full view of customers.

MasterCuts horrible service

I took my 2 daughters to have their hair TRIMMED. First my youngest daughter got her hair cut I just wanted the ends trimmed and her bangs after about 5 minutes she was done. I thought ok it was just a trim. Then another stylist started on my older daughters hair I asked if I could pay for the youngest one she said "no just pay for them together". I realized I didnt have cash to tip them so I said I would be right back and went next door to the ATM while the oldest one was getting her hair cut. I was gone 4-5 minutes at the most. I got back and she was standing there waiting. I thought that was a fast haircut but both their hair was wet so you couldnt really tell what kind of cut they received. I got home and the youngest ones hair was not even at all. She had long pieces of hair all over the place she recieved way more than a trim. My middle ones hair had a line in the middle of her hair her sweeping bang was now a uneven straight across bang. I was so upset so I called the location and asked for management I was asked what I needed and said I needed to complain about the haircuts my daughters just received and was told "I will tell them" and was hung up on. I put a complaint on their website and was sent a coupon for $1 off a haircut. I just paid $22 for a HORRIBLE haircut, had to go to another hair dresser and pay $40 to get it fixed it was so bad. My normal hairdresser was on maternity leave that was the only reason why I went there. I recommend NO ONE go there. THEY ARE HORRIBLE and dont even care about their customers!

Yes Shannon90 I know not all are like that. We use to use a wonderful location in Georgia that is why I went to the one in Shawnee, OK. Lopp if you will see the compaint shows Mastercuts-Shawnee, OK location! We did have HORRIBLE service and HORRIBLE response from the Manager/Owner. I DO NOT recommend that place to ANYONE. If you would have seen my girls hair you would understand why I was so mad, and then how they acted in front of my teenage daughter. There is NO REASON for ANYONE to act like that or say that kind of stuff. So again, THE SHAWNEE, OK is where my complaint was!

I agree, if you are in the "In Crowd" working a ta Mastercuts you will be treated well.If you make the REGIS COMPANY money than you will be treated well and if you are not one of the "GANG" you will be ousted and bullied thru having your skills turned sabotaged. If your skills are looking better than your managers - she will try to make them look bad and talk behind your back to potential clients "______ is not as good as_________ so don't have her do your hair." or " I recoment__________instead of __________ when I cannot be the one to do your hair" etc... The managers usually get away with whatever they can thinking they are the "Boss" and don't have to follow the rules!... try to report a manager to corporate and you get bullied by that manager. For your best benefit I do say start at a chain salon for at least 1 year after you get your license then move on to a bigger and better private salon or open your own salon. You'll be much happier!

I also worked for Mastercuts for six years and was an award winning stylist and manager! It was a good job for 5 of the six years. They are in the practice of hiring "warm bodies" lol real professional. I walked out on my last day due to being bullied out by the regional manager whom is best frineds with the district manager. Of course the bullying began in the salon with employess with problems. I tried to help them though they were beyond help. It was time for me to move on to a better career.. Mastercuts also practices their business with people posing as managers that don't posess a managers license, which is state issued and earned. The state is very busy and its hard to check all salons in the state. They actually were still using my license number and name 3 monthes after I quit! WOW! I suggest goin to a better salon as you will better taken care of!

I worked for MC for 6 years.
And yes, they are ALL like that.

Mastercuts at a mall in Calgary Alberta. My husband went in for a TRIM for a job interview and got totally butchered. He had taken off his glasses for the cut and couldn't see that his hair was being ruined. There were places that were shaved almost bald and the hair could not be washed and combed without sticking up for SEVEN WEEKS. He went to a hair stylist in Medicine Hat and they said they were sorry but they couldn't fix it until it grew out a bit. I would NEVER NEVER go to Mastercuts and I will tell everyone I know about this experience.

don't bad-mouth MASTERCUTS salons! there are more than one store locations! not all the locations are bad! I for one Know So because I do work at a Mastercuts in Washington State and our salon is a good one! We have had great reviews and have had many a return client! We also do make it right if a service goes wrong and we do fix our mistakes! Our Manager is a great one too! not all managers are ###! I feel that every new hairstylist should work in a Mastercuts type salon when they start out fresh from school! you get to have your tools supplied- you get raises according to how much production you do, you get benefits such as medical and paid vacations, you get employee discounts and you get your services done for little to nothing! you gain lots of experience and you have monthly training meetings! I have not worked in any private salon that does this for you!

MasterCuts chemical burns

I was in mastercuts inside madison square mall yesterday and wanted a cut and color. I sat for 1hour and 55 minutes with color on my hair that I was later told should never be applied directly to the scalp. My hair is orange (supposed to be blonde) and I have scabs all over my scalp. I can't get the company's insurance claims rep on the phone to see if they are going to pay my medical bills. I need to go to the doctor because this hurts and my hair is falling out with the scabs, but I dont have medical insurance at this time. I dont know what I am going to do!

Wow that really sucks. I am a stylist and no you should not have had that on your scalp for that long. You could sue the company if you can't get ahold of the insurance people. You can also report the stylist to the state board. They may have their license taken away. Hope this is of some help to you.

i've worked at mastercuts for a little over a year. manager after manager, stylists in and out...sounds all too familiar. we have a new manager that's never managed before and has no idea how to do or go about anything. and wont ask for help, so of course everything is chaotic. i got hired back on about a month ago after being on maternity leave for a while. i was moving around the country over the summer and came back to ohio with nothing but what we could fit into suitcases. of course i told my new manager my situation and she acted like she understood and was concerned. being 15 minutes late today because i have no car yet, and my ride bailed on me...i walked to work...after being 15 minutes late to open the salon, she sends me home and tells me there will be a write up in the morning (which i figured) and continues to tell me that she'll call me in the morning to let me know if i should go into work when i'm scheduled. can she even fire me if i have 1 write up for that? can she fire me without having talked to me about that before. does she have grounds at all to fire me? if anybody knows anything about that email me. just so that if she does terminate me i can have the grounds to back it. not that i'd want to work for her or that salon anyways...my email is mikisue42@yahoo.com...thanks!

You are totally right about them not caring!
I managed for them for a year, before I had to step down to help care for my terminally ill grandfather.
The new manager that they brought in was HELLACIOUS!
She managed to offend ALL the stylists and 1/2 the customers within a week with stories of her sexual conquests on the salon floor!
But since she was buddies with the area manager, it was all good...*snort*
About 2 weeks into her stay there, 1 of the girls noticed that her license had expired LAST YEAR!
I called my regional manager to let her know what was going on,
and you know what she did about it?!?!?
SHE PAID HER LICENSE!
Is your regional Kelly?
I know she covers part of Hawaii.

right now there is three stylist who work for mastercuts reading this and we have worked there ranging from 3-10 years. were all in agreeance that mastercuts employees are treated unfairley and are poorley compensated for as much work as we do. AND THE COMBO THING...REDICULOUS...WE LIVE IN A VERY DEPRESSED AREA WITH A CRAPPY ECONEMY...PEOPLE COME TO MASTERCUTS FOR A FAIRLEY PRICED HAIRCUT...WHY WOULD THEY PAY 20 DOLLARS FOR A CAN OF HAIRSPRAY? WHEN THEYRE ASKING US WHAT THEY CAN BUY AT OUR LOCAL WALLY WORLD? they want our combos at 12%...were barley pushin 8 and most the time we buy our own juss to keep the area supervisor off our butts. and our manager is in cahoots with the AREA SUPERVISOR so any complaints to her would be thrown out on account she loves our manager...she can do no wrong. the only good thing about mastercuts is ...cant think of anything at the moment...oh..and this union thing...they tried getting us to sign a paper which wrongfully stated our rights and thought we wouldnt catch on? they had to re-word it and asked us to sign it again...we never did. no wonder they dont want us to join the union...they made us watch a video on why the union was bad and we wouldnt want to be a part of it...but in the video it never stated anything good...or how it could benefit us...

I have worked for MasterCuts for 6 years (and Regis Corp. for 10 years) and I will completely agree that they do not compensate their employees fairly. This combo thing has gotten out of control and they do absolutely NO advertising locally but expect us to stay busy. They also are a walk-in only salon but do not want their employees to have a set schedule. How inconvenient is that for our customers? You can't make an appointment or call ahead to put your name on the list AND the stylist you trust and are comfortable with has a schedule that varies week to week? Not too smart on MasterCuts part. However, the girl in Hawaii has posted some wrong information about the company. First, all products are able to be returned to the store of purchase within 30 days from purchase with a valid receipt, for any reason. Second, any write up done is required to be signed by the employee receiving it and a copy is given to that employee. The write up is done a 3 layer sheet with the employee receiving either the yellow or pink copy (whichever one has "employee copy" printed on it). Writing up an employee for not folding towels is a valid reason for write up for certain types of employees, such as a person who ignores a direct order to do so on a regular basis or a person who has a history of insubordination. It (written documentation of the insubordination) is the first step in the termination process. As for the manager problems, these things are store-based. I happen work for a wonderful manager who knows how to do her job and does not put up with lazy, immature employees. Any complaints about management can be done to the AREA SUPERVISOR(step 1), the REGIONAL MANAGER(step 2), and higher up the chain of command. The phone numbers for these people are located in the back of the Shop Talk which every salon receives every 2 months. There are also grievance forms which can be filled out and sent in to the proper person (it will tell you on the form or in the back of the Shop Talk). Just an FYI, name calling, ranting and providing false information makes you look like the problem person at the salon. Grow up and have a little respect for ANYONE in a position higher than yours (regardless of their age) and you will have less stress at your workplace. Going through the proper channels to complain about your manager is the only way you will stop this problem, but be prepared to provide some kind of proof and be smart about it. I wish you luck both in being more mature while at work and removing the problem manager (if she is indeed the problem).

i worked at a mastercuts for 4 years, and it was 4 years of hell. we went through manager after manager. i saw at least 16 people go in and out. our district manager was such a snotty ### i wanted to punch her in the face everytime i saw her. all that company cares about is how they are gonna get the next dollar. times are tough, but they are all about combos combos combos. i got written up for not trying to sell combos, when i clearly did...its not my fault people dont have money to buy a twenty dollar bottle of hairspray. and they say they pay so great...my ###. on a busy pay week i would make four hundred dollars after taxes. and so did everyone else. i will NEVER work for another regis company again in my life. i have two kids to raise and support, i cant afford to bust my ### and not get anything in return. and thats another thing...they were all about getting clients in and out. heaven forbid you take your time on a client to do your best. they wanted you to do it as fast as you could so your wait time didnt get too long..well sorry ###...i am not gonna rush through anymore haircuts just to get to the next client. no wonder they have such a bad rap. and then to give out coupons for 5 dollars off a haircut? jesus the haircuts are only 15 dollars. and a free haircut after so many points is fine, but can i at least get some credit. dont let anyone fool you, that haircut does NOT get counted towards your service sales. so you make NOTHING off that haircut. good luck to you if you are still there. i did the math on the payscale...with the hourly minimum wage, plus whatever dollar or cent amount you are over and gets added an hour, the comission is only 38%! hairstylists START at 45% anywhere else.. and thats all you can get ever at mastercuts. thats the amount everyone gets when you figure everything out. i went to school and paid how much money to learn this trade, to make 18, 000 dollars a year? ###. i know a girl who got out of mastercuts and into a private salon, and she made 55, 000 dollars last year, so my advice to you is to get out as soon as you can! good luck.

MasterCuts charges higher price than posted

Went to mastercuts in the mall. I was charged more than the posted price for the "adult haircut, shampoo and style" package. It was a shock and nothing is posted about the reason given but the hair cutter told me that was only a starting price. I paid but price increases should be discussed prior to a cut. I know regular salons have starting prices but not at walk in mall salons that advertise and post low prices. And nothing is posted about a starting price. I have tried every email and phone number on the mastercuts website in order to resolve this and none work except to leave a message. Something is wrong with this company. I never had this problem before at mastercuts.

Went to mastercuts. Went in to get the first picture done to my hair. I have dark hair, so I asked for a shadow root so I wouldn't have to get my roots done again. What the heck is this? Someone please contact me.

My son went to Master Cuts at Kaahumanu mall, in Kahului, Maui on 01/07/19 at 6pm and the " hair stylist" cut his hair very poorly. We went back after I got a good look at his hair to try to ask the person to fix it. They just made it worse. I would like to get my money back.

I went in yesterday Sunday November 4, 2018 to get s haircut. The stylist cutting my hair was Ashley. She smelled of alcohol and was clearly still under the influence. That is very unprofessional.

My husband waited for an hour came back and was told another half hour just to come back again and the lady to be rude and close early. We definitely won't be coming back there.
