Marshall Engines Inc Junk Motor -Faulty Engine

Purchased remanufactured 5.4 l engine for my Ford F 150 from www.carparts.com. Paid $2738.00.
Engine started ticking then knocking and losing power after only 3 weeks of installation.
Contacted carparts.com and they said we had to deal with the manufacturer which is Marshall Engines out of Nebraska. We registered our claim online, contacted them and brought the truck back to our Certified Ford Dealership Shop. We used this shop because we followed carparts.com rec'd certified shops from www.mechanicmd.com.
Marshall, thru the person who was assigned our claim #, Kevin, then ordered sets of tests to be done on the engine to see what the problem was. These tests were in the $300 range. The tests revealed metal pieces in the oil pan. He then proceded to say that we needed to take out the engine and send it to them for inspection and that they were inspecting for customer neglect, failed to maintain or abuse. Since my wife was on the phone with him and she was very upset and told him we did not in any way neglect or abuse the engine - we only had it for 3 weeks, driving back and forth to work - and that it was Marshalls failed engine. Kevin hung up on her. It took days to get thru to people. We went back to carparts.com only to find out that u can only ever talk to their call centre in the Phillipines. They wanted nothing to do with us and said we had to deal with Marshall Engines on our own. After coming across this website in search for people to contact to help us... we became very nervous and suspicious. Kelly, supposedly a manager at Marshall takes days at a time to return our calls. I voiced my concerns regarding all the complaints against Marshall and that our situation was looking to prove the same fate as them. Kelly and Valda were already suggesting w/o seeing any pictures or the engine or knowing anything about what was going on inside the engine, that the mechanic failed to pre-lube the engine and these particular engines needed to be pre-lubed a specific way... Of course our Ford Certified Mechanics at Fairlane Ford, MI. extensively pre-lubed the engines. They regularly replace engines and have never had a problem with their installation and pre-lubing processes. They said they use Jasper Engines and they have amazing customer service. They are disgusted with how Mashall have treated us and have never seen anything like this situation before. Marshall suggested 3more tests to be done- that would indicate a dry start. This took our diagnostic tests up to $1100. Still the tests showed no evidence of a dry start, no scorings/markings on the cam. Our tech took pictures and sent it to them and to us. Kelly says that the diagnostic team sees debris transfer marks on the pictures and this is evidence of a dry start. We do not see any markings only smooth and shiny. So ... it looks like this is heading in the same direction of them not taking the blame of sending us a faulty engine. By policy we have to send the engine back. We had the engine pulled yesterday at another cost to us of $1000. This is now almost 4 weeks since we returned the truck for original diagnostic tests. We marked the engine to make sure the pictures that they take are of our engine. We will wait for their diagnosis and post it here for all to see... We have a lawyer on speed dial. We have spent a total of $6800. We still do not have a working engine and we still have to pay $1000 to install one back in... Grand total of $7800 PLUS perhaps ANOTHER ENGINE!
DO NOT PURCHASE A MARSHALL ENGINE. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM WWW.CARPARTS.COM!

You have not posted an outcome. Did Marshall Engines do the right thing or did they lay the blame on you? I am very interested in the outcome due to the fact that my boyfriend bought a Marshall Engine and just after 6 weeks he is without a vehicle. If they try and say it was something that he did, they are going to have a huge fight on their hands. He is a ase certified master mechanic and worked for Fletcher Jones Mercedes for 13 years as their head mechanic, the man is brilliant when it comes to cars and most anything! Point being he knows what he is doing! Please let me know what happened with your claim.

I had purchased an automobile engine that had a 30 month 50, 000 mile warranty, upon receiving the engine and having it installed by a certified GM mechanic the engine did not run correctly. The engine was hard to start, burned oil, and would continue running after being shut off. I contacted Marshall Engines and the placed the blame on the carburetor. When...
