I'd like to help folks understand that booking online for this hotel through Marriott.com can lead to a reservation that cannot be cancelled. While I expect that through travel consolidation sites such as Expedia or Travelocity, I did not expect that to happen when I booked directly through Marriott.com. When I called and asked for a reconsideration of this policy, both the hotel and a national supervisor refused. I will not book again with Marriott if I can help it. I should be grateful if Bethesda Marriott Suites were to refund the money they've already charged me.

We booked a stay at the courtyard marriott under expedia.com. On christmas day my daughter cut her finger, since the hotel had no notions store on any vending machines I set he to the reception desk for a band aid. The maintenan man or engineering told her that "the hotel had no responsibility to give her a bandaid". When my daughter said she would buy one he said they didn't have to sell her one. Under ths circumstance my daughter suggested that it might be wise to have first aid kits for sell. Then the reception desk person said they had some but they were sold out. Finally as she stood there with a bloody finger the gave her a band aid. Since it was christmas and the nearest convenience store two blocks away was closed I found the whole thing a little stupid. It was one band aid for god's sake not brain surgery.
Also, the hotel had a virtually nonexistent restaurant that was only open for breakfast - no room service - and the minimum was limited as well as expensive. All in all I would give the courtyard marriott on julia street a d +.

parking rip off
Marriott makes rooms available through Priceline at what one is led to believe are discount rates: until you get to the hotel and are slapped with outrageous parking and other fees. Then, they use the 'well, you signed the contract' defense.
So, here's a little retail tip for both Priceline and Marriott: Treat your customers fairly and they stay loyal, but nobody that has been ripped off by your companies are coming back. People that want to use Priceline, etc. thinking they are getting a bargain, are not happy to find that Priceline and Marriott cooperate to rip consumers off at both ends.

Why didn't you check first to see if the Marriott charged for parking? Seems like if you did that then you wouldn't need to bad-mouth them online.

Stayed for New Years Eve Party in Downtown Dayton, Ohio on 09/10 Party and was charged an extra $40.04 when checking in even though entire bill was paid in advance. Called Hotel and was told this is standard practice IN CASE there was any damage which there was not and that charge would be reversed in 5-7 days if I called and requested it (BULL). I stay in hotels on a regular basis and have never heard such crap. Will not use Marriott again! Appently things are so bad that paying customers have to watch thier back at all times.

Long story short... We booked an overnight stay at the courtyard marriott in cancun. We chose the marriott because we trust the chain and because they offered a free airport shuttle. Upon arrival I realized I had misplaced the number to call for the shuttle but I wasn't worried because marriott is such an honorable chain. After exiting baggage claim I searched for over an hour for someone to help me with a phone or contact info for the courtyard marriott. Not even the representative from the other marriott in cancun would help. Finally we were assisted by a mexican tourist official miguiel manesro who offered to call our hotel. According to mr. Manesro he spoke to a jose ernesto perez at the courtyard marriott. Mr. Perez told him the shuttle was busy and we should take a taxi to the marriott and we would be reimbursed. Upon arrival at the cancun marriott courtyard we were rudely informed that no one by the name of perez worked at the hotel and they were not about to reimburse us for our taxi charge. I asked for the manager and was infromed that mr. Juses marin was the supivisor on duty. He refused to do anything to help us - basically blaming the problem on us as we didn't personally call. Finally after I nearly had a melt down, mr. Marin remembered that indeed there was a manager on duty... Mr. Cristales. We met with him and he offered to give us a free dinner. I didn't want a free dinner. I wanted the staff at the marriott to help me resolve my being ripped off. No one at the marriott was willing to do anything to get to the bottom of this matter making me believe they were in "cahoots" with my rip off. Bottom line... The management at the marriott courtyard are not your friends!

I received an appointment letter from Marriott Residence hotel asking to join them as a food and beverage officer.The date of joining was given as jan 5th 2009 which is very funny.They have offered a package of 4800pounds per month and have given contact details of one Mr.Richard Stagg.I knew all this was an act of Fraud but wanted to kow what exactly these guys are upto.I called Mr.Stagg but there was no response.Looks like the guys have become alert now.Why is all this happening and when and who is gonna take action against them.These guys need to be taught a lesson.Good that i went through these complaints before i could do anything.I have attached the appointment letter that i received so that people who receive such kind next time wont beleive such a letter and they can set it aside and continue their day to day work.Pls do something and stop these guys before they could reach thousands of others.

treat employees like slaves
This place treats their employees like crap and as if they were slaves! People get injured there and the company lets them almost bleed to death. Someone I know works there and there are many people who really need the job.Unfortunately there are those gossipers that try to sabotage their job that feeds their family. This is very unfair because the crooked managers take their word for it and give innocent people warnings or threaten to fire them. Of course, these people need a job and they take it. Also, they give them so much work since they fire people and never replace them. Then when the employees ask for help they also get threatened that if they cant do the job, then they will be replaced. How can such an upscale company do this? The employees don't even go to have lunch where they are supposed to because they are working during lunch time. If they don't finish at the time they are told, then they are given a warning even if it is a minute late. We are not in the slave times anymore and this company is very unethical in that way. They think that because people cant speak English, they don't have the right to defend themselves. There was also a time when the daughter of the person I know was sick at school and they called work to have them pick her up. They didn't even bother to let her know until hours later. What kind of crap is this? This company really does not care for its employees regardless of how loyal and hardworking they are. I wish we can do something about this. Can someone let me know if they have had a similar experience with this chain or this location in particular.?There are so many more things to be said about this company but not a lot of time to say everything.

I got a phone call, and they offer me a package to go to Orlando for 4day and 3nights, every time, so I paid $190 and never got my vacation or my money back. or never received a confirmation letter.I had the phone number they gives me, and couple times some one answer the phone they said I cant use the package, because I have to pre - book it, so I asked them to pre book it for me, and they give me a different # number, to call, that # was not valid, after week end past I called them back it so this # is no longer in service, so I lost my money. I lost the phone # also. So all I can Say if a marketer calls you and offer you a vacation package do not buy it, because they take your money and don't get anything on returned. do not give your Credit Card over the phone to no one that you don't know.

While vacationing at a Marriott, 2 teenage boys climbed up to our second floor room and entered via the balcony. They stole numerous items, including ipods, nintedos DSI's, games, cameras, headphones, and liquor.
Although their parents made them return our stuff and remained anonymous, th kids kept some stuff and returned our other things in poor condidtion! Marriott is not offering to help in any way and is being stingy about giving us a new holiday even! For a few hundred dollars, they do not even want to care a bit about this awful experience!

I usually have a decent room with Marriott wherever I ahve stayed arond the world. So, I don't know if this is just a one-off or not, but I recently stayed in one in the Southampton area and was really disappointed by the level of cleanliness of my room. The bduvet was especially dirty and smelled very bad. To be fair, they did come and replace it, but it left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the weekend and I wondered what else was potentially dirty.
The hotel room in the Fairfield Inn, Orlando, Lake Buena Vista in the Marriott Village had a number of safety issues and was not ADA compliant. I sustained bruising of my chest and a laceration on my face after hitting the edge of an outward opening bathroom door that was left ajar. The incident occurred while I was trying to make my way to the door of the hotel room as the ADA buzzer was ringing without the required ADA visual alarm in the hallway. The hallway was dark and there was no light switch to turn on along my path.
Hotel management said they would provide an adjustment to the room charge because of the incident but failed to come through on their word. Marriott Claims Services indicated they would pay my medical bills but subsequently changed their mind. It appears Marriott compromises safety and their integrity to maximize profits. I would not want others to put themselves and their families at risk with this company.
The requirement of jobs are available for male and female who want to live and work in Canada!
So you ran into a door, and it is their fault? The ADA does not protect you from your own carelessness.
Does it say on the inside of the door that the hotel is not resposible for lost or stolen items? Or on the registration card? Was the balcony door locked or left unlocked?
Dont like being duped, you can't talk to customerservicedept, hard headed!
Where is the negligence?
Oh! CustomerServiceDept -So now you are a lawyer in your spare time! I do not know the entire facts in this case but I do know that a hotel would not be exempt in a case where negligence on the hotels part can be proved. for example, it would be negligent for the hotel to have doors that didn't lock properly. That would not fall under the responsiblity of the patrons. Or, having windows that are easily accessed to teenagers that like to steal. It seems as if the hotel patrons exercised caution by securing their door when they left that it would be expected that their belongings would remain untouched. How did the teenagers get in? How do the windows lock? How did they climb the balcony without being detected? Where are the parents? All these questions need to be asked. If the hotel was not responsible for ANY theft, then what is to stop the employees/owners or othe patrons from ransacking every room and taking what they wanted when they wanted. Wouldn't it be prudent to make sure that an establishment hires individuals who don't have criminal records and make sure there is enough secuity to keep the patrons safe from harm. Wouldn't it be more prudent to follow through with police reports and documentation. Instead of keeping these yahoos anonymous, why not have them held responsible and make amends like they used to in the good old days? Restitution would be a good start to get the victims back on track again. These teenagers and their parents should be held accountable for the theft.
The hotel is not resposible for any theft. Although, they should offer to call the police for you if that is what you would like done?

No, of course this is SPAM. Why would Marriott, a world-wide organization, be using a yahoo UK email address and not a corporate address. Second, there is no Marriott Residence Hotel, there is only a Residence Inn chain owned by Marriott. Third, why would it say "individual who wants to learn all aspects of pastry". Pastry, what does pastry have to do with working at a hotel.
This is not meant to harass your company specifically, it is just idiot spammers at work again. I would have to guess that, if you really were to contact them, they would want money up front for references or something, money you would never see again.

I have some reasons not to believe these emails to be true.
First, the mistakes in the English Grammar. Can a Britisher's email have English Grammar mistakes?
Second, check the phone numbers (eg. Daniel Thomas 0044-[protected]
0044-[protected] ) in UK Phone Directory. All are fake. No results are displayed.
Third, no person is associated with Holiday Inn named Daniel Thomas, when you make a search in google, etc.

Sexual Assault at Beijing Courtyard Spa
I am a long-term platinum member. This weekend I was in Beijing on my points, and asked for a massage. The Courtyard has a spa, one which advertises a special rate for guests, all costs are charged on the Courtyard bill. The spa is down the hall from the Courtyard in a health centre.
Without dealing with details, I was sexually assaulted by my masseuse. Since no one at this property spoke English, and I was terrified to deal with Chinese authorities. I tried to launch a complaint on line. For two days I heard nothing, and finally got Marriott operations today.
They will not refer me to higher than phone answering employees. No one has asked me how I feel, was I harmed, nothing. They are insisting I go to the Beijing police, but am now in Korea, and frankly, I am more interested in making sure this never happens again than dealing with charges that may or may not be criminal --
Long and short of it all, I am in a mess, I am a mess, and cannot believe that this is the treatment a serious complaint gets.
DO NOT go to this hotel. Be cautious of using any Marriott Spa personal massages. They claim no liability for their actions and their employees.
I am terrified of these massage "parlors" and to think a Marriott would have one as its primary spa is outrageous. I also can't believe this person has had no comments from Marriott

The writer is disputing the additional room charge and applicable fees of $83.00 for the following reasons:
July 4, 2009 The writer registered a guest into the Courtyard Marriott, Fort Lauderdale Airport/Cruise Port with their Credit Card Authorization Form, copy attached, accompanied with a copy of her HSBC Mastercard and Florida driver’s license submitted by facsimile at their request for two nights.
July 6, 2009 The writer collected the guest to travel to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport to embark on his 6:30 a.m. flight to JFK, New York.
July 8, 2009 The writer discovered the discrepancy on HSBC’s credit card. She immediately called and spoke with Nicole, Courtyard Marriott, who informed the writer that the manager of the hotel was not available. Nicole informed the writer that Brenda, the manager, will be in the office the following morning.
In the meantime, the writer called HSBC and spoke with Trisha, Billing Dispute Department, who kindly informed the writer that the amount in question was not yet posted to the account; thus, she informed the writer of the procedures involved to dispute the charge in question.
July 9, 2009 Spoke with Brenda, hotel manager, who alleged to the writer that the guest checked out of the hotel after 11:00 a.m., adamantly claimed that he left a note stating that he will return, and that he left a pair of shoes in the room and for that reason, was billed an extra night.
The writer spoke with Nicole, HSBC, who transferred the writer to Joseph, HSBC manager, regarding the overcharge, and was informed that the funds were pending and not yet posted to the account. After the writer explained the situation, she was informed that a notation would be made on the account and advised that more information ought to be provided in writing and submitted to HSBC.
July 23, 2009 The writer spoke with Carla regarding the subject matter who provided the writer with the contact information to forward the disputed charge.
The writer has been extensively travelling away on business and leisure staying at various hotels around the country. Recognized that the hotel chains’ standard check-in/check-out policies have been consistently been after 11:00 a.m. Usually, upon the patron(s) request for an additional stay, the hotel staff, based from my experience, initiates asking permission as to whether they could process the guests’ same major credit card or use another for additional room night(s) based upon the hotel’s availability. One finds it hard to believe that a mere note or items left behind in the room indicates the guest’s intent to stay an extra night and impose a charge which is believed to be an excuse which is totally unacceptable.

I made a hotel reservation to spend 2 nights ( 17 July-18 July, 2009) at the Courtyard Hotel using the Marriott Reservation line. I found a certificate at the Marriott website for a “Treat Yourself to a weekend Escape and a free 2nd night”. I confirmed with the reservation person that this was valid for my stay and he did. He said I just needed to print out the webpage and give it to the desk at check-in. At check-in I presented the certificate to the front desk. They called the “Marriott Rewards Hotel Resource Desk” and confirmed it was valid and would be honored. I spent the 2 nights at this hotel and just hours before my check-out I received a phone call from the desk telling me they made a mistake and the certificate was not going to be honored and I was going to be charged for the 2nd night. If I would have been told this at the time I made the reservation, or at check-in time, I would have made other arrangements. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. How can they get away with doing something like this?

I'd like to help folks understand that booking online for this hotel through Marriott.com can lead to a reservation that cannot be cancelled. While I expect that through travel consolidation sites such as Expedia or Travelocity, I did not expect that to happen when I booked directly through Marriott.com. When I called and asked for a reconsideration of this policy, both the hotel and a national supervisor refused. I will not book again with Marriott if I can help it. I should be grateful if Bethesda Marriott Suites were to refund the money they've already charged me.
I guess you booked a non-refundable room which is usually less than the "regular" rate... There is a reason it costs less money - because it comes with restrictions. I can't really blame them for non refunding the money as you agreed to it when you booked the room on their website. Sorry.
