Purchased Marin bicycle from Big Wheel bikes in Bethesda MD. {$600} within one day of riding around rear wheel weird and very noisy. Found out that only about 60 percent of the spokes were actually 'truing' the wheel; all the other spokes were just barely tightened. Walked the bike back to store; "retrued' in rapid (less than 5 minutes) fashion, next day same problem! Went back again to repeat, guy there indicated it is difficult to fix these problems from Marin. Two days ago tried to tell Marin, no response; lots of good bikes out there Marin ain't one of them.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
this shop is has hooked me up every time I visit, I could NOT DISAGREE anymore!
Everything you are complaining about has to do more with the shop where you bought the bike, not with Marin (even with their contact being slow, you didn't it direct, so your dealer should have handled that). Sounds like you picked a crappy shop, not a crappy bike. Also, a pinch flat is caused by not enough air pressure in your tires, NOTHING to do with the bike.
I rented a bicycle from this operation the other day and so enjoyed there company that I ended up purchasing one from these fine fellows.
I could not disagree more.
i love this shop, the guys are sweet and sexy!
For every 1000 cool people there is always one doushbag... WHAT A PARASITE!
This guy with the clamp issue is an idiot. I was shown this by a friend and do not get it. He should be sucking his own chicken heads. (posted by dsweeny 11/3 )

You are a complete ### and totally paranoid!
I live in North Carolina, and was shown your post for amusement purposes only.
I don not even know the shop, but for all intents and purposes and judging from your inarticulate complaint i am sure they are in the right.

Just keeping your idiotic posts here before you delete them.
FYI, my mistake was dealing with Big Wheel Bikes, all this could have been avoided by decent customer service!

It's obvious that you are rallying around detail in nuisance in part specification versus the real issue of selling bikes, and bike service. It is also obvious that you, maybe both, have some personal interest in Big Wheel Bikes, why else would you post, remove posts, then claim "shown by a friend." You're not helping sell Big Wheel Bike inferior service.

What is a "clamshell" on a bike?
Addendum, my fault for not explaining it... The inferior bolt is on the Marin seat post, it is very much thinner than any other seat post I've seen during the initial saga to fix it. Other bike shops had bolts for the same use but were so thick that they couldn't fit thru. the Marin CLAMSHELL that holds the seat, proper.
Biker geek; Stick to eating chicken heads. u ### ' the part broken was a bolt, not supported by big wheel bikes, tho they sold the assembly. Pelecypedia is a pretty big word did you paste it?And the new free bolt is just fine.
What the heck is a "clamshell" part for a bicycle?! And on your self titled complaint "big bucks". A seat CLAMP (not clam, a clam is a pelecypeda) is not exactly a "big buck" item, now is it?
Your not at all specific to your complaint, Bill Simmons. In my opinion you should have opted to pay for the right stronger part from big wheel bikes, not go for the freebie inferior part from the other shop, which will ultimately brake and cause you to possibly fall on your stupid ares!
Two days ago went to Big Wheel Bikes to replace failed bolt that holds clamshell that hold seat to post, all Marin parts. Guy at big wheel bikes wanted to sell me new seat post declaring that the bolt was inferior.. But still Marin! Went a few blocks away to local neighborhood bike shop, although the bolt was thinner and weaker than most comperable bolts, they fixed me right up, for free! Without even knowing about their rip off neighbors.
Big wheel just wants the big bucks.
LATEST! Received NEW WHEEL! Either a comedy of errors or same old 'half assed service;" Maybe minor, the next day when I got the wheel on my bike it was flat... Pinch flat i think. Plus after all this I had to ask them to put a lousy cap over the valve and put on a lousy reflector, just like I left the original wheel. After the challenged mechanic screwed around for about 5 mins. i gave up! Big Wheel Bikes, DC area +poor service!
Ok, yesterday, March 14 dropped off wheel let's see what happens! ...a simple apology and a vow to send a good product to their dealers would be a good thing, eh?
UPDATE UPDATE Today February 20 was finally contacted by Big Wheel Bikes in MD where I purchased Marin Bike ostensibly to fix problems with poorly trued wheel. In good faith decided to remove this posting but in doing so now see Marin's BS response. Tried to contact me? Marin threatened me and to host of this site. Rapid response, after the Holidays? 9 days later, only after posting on this site.
I bought the bike, Tried twice to have the dealer fix it, told Marin, waited at least a few days, posted this, got response in threats, had third party fix bike, now today, FEB 20 get response from Big Wheel Bikes ( this all started late December 2006). Was going to remove posting but now see Marin's pathetic response; Do the dealers and Marin talk? I guess not, maybe that's why the dealers have to fix the problems, eh?

I beg to differ; Returned twice, contacted marin, dealer Big Wheel Bikes in Maryland replaced wheel with a crappier when which 'potato chipped' with ten days, even when picking it up it was incomplete, now have good wheel after spending even more money to properly fix bike, dealers are inadequate also.
We sold this guy a bike, he did return once for a retrue but NEVER returned for a followup. Its very easy for us to replace via marin at no charge, we certainly dont hold that info from customers. All he has to do is walk in the shop for a new wheel.
