I impulsively ordered a magicjack after seeing it advertised online via cnet, pcmagazine and cbs news but then I saw an article about a lawsuit against the company and then info about it sending ads to your pc so I realized I did not want it. The confirmation email I got for my order said I could reply to make changes so I hit reply and tried to cancel the order but the email failed so I did some more research and found an email address for Rikard.[protected]@ymaxcorp.com and emailed him trying to cancel the order. After further research I realized there is no true customer support for this service or help. I am convinced this is a scam.

I want you people to give me your phone number. I have given you my e-mail address and name and my correct password and you claim my password is incorrect. It is not incorrect. my name and e-mail address and password works fine on other websites so it should be right on this magic jack website. My magic jack phone is not working at all. To KCL...You have really disappointed me...I thought I could get
information about a product.Certainly not ignorant garbaged opinions and definitely not you or Sauna's moral dissertations about PEOPLE. You make assumptions about "how nice I claim to be" -which I never claimed. My political orientation was never brought up, either! (wouldn't have voted for Obama ever in a million years-though I am leary of holding any similar thoughts with you in this or any other matter). The issue of "Professionalism" referred to Sauna who claimed to be professional IT PERSONELL---YOU seem to miss the entire content of what you read. Never claimed to be a BOSS either! I am so proud of YOU for having more glorious smarts than anyone else walking the face of the earth since you "could figure it all out on your own without contacting magicjack or being an IT person ...raising your IQ well above the rest of us ignorant people. Kudos to you! Maybe Sauna's boss would consider you a real asset to their IT department:) Perhaps you are spending TOO MUCH time with THE KIDS...I don't care to babysit you, the magic jack, or the ignorance of this complaint board.

To-Sauna-kudos. You hit the nail on the head. I was laughing in agreement with you the whole way through. There are a lot of people posting complaints that have not graduated high school, or even elementary school for that matter. I am surprised that they even know how to turn on the computer to begin with, let alone order a magicjack.

To D.Rushing, you must have voted for Obama- you are not as nice as you claim to be. Seeming like you are protecting all the illiterate illegals. Besides a good listener and reading these reviews are two different things, and I too thought it was painful to read the reviews. C'mon relax, be more professional? are you serious? None of these complaints are professional, and you are not the boss. Besides, what did you contribute to the whole magicjack issue, what was your comment or complaint? Exactly...nothing
On a different note- I actually purchased a magic jack. I too, had a couple difficulties with the product. However I was able to figure them out and make it work without contacting magicjack or being an IT person. The MagicJack works best when you have a computer that is dedicated to it. If my kids are on that specific computer playing a computer game it shuts off the magicjack, But most of us all have a cell phone if necessary. Or tell the kids not to play on it, if you are expecting a call during a specific time. If you are trying to save money in this economy it makes sense. Especially since Obama is spending it all for us. Also the magicjack works best if its plugged directly into a usb port instead of using the extra cord that comes with it. I first used the extra cord and I was able to get a dial tone, but I could not call out on it. So I plugged it directly into the port and decided I really didn't need the cord anyway and then plugged my main cordless phone in and thus all of the other cordless phones are now hooked up. I have GREAT reception. Everyday I make sure that the internet didn't go down, and if it did I simply restart the system. Now that I have the hang of it, it's pretty easy. I love having the option of hearing my messages sent to my email and hearing them on my computer. Very cool...

To Sauna-Wow! Name sounds like a little box used for sweating:} Perhaps that's what you intend others to do with your comments. You certainly would NOT be good at International negotiations and I would hate to have someone of your demeaning nature in my IT department. I count on them to listen to me, solve the issue on the computer and keep my machinery in good working order and Oh yes, to build a relationship of RESPECT with me and my employees. INTOLERANCE - is a fault as well...people of all types, diverse cultures, educational levels, as well as people with broken language (perhaps from a different country-ever think of that?) A good listener hears much more than the petty things you dismiss about others' attempts to communicate. Your comments told me much more negative info about yourself than you did of others in your criticisms. You seem to need to step in others' faces to make your shine. Just as in life we have all experienced similar things in different ways. That does not mean you cannot glean info from their comments/experiences. C'mon...relax and look for info. Be as ethical and professional as you expect the rest of us to be!

I have see the adverts for magicjack and think people shouls wise up, it will not work, there IS a great system for your computer, costs a little more but fool proof. It is called SKYPE.com, I have had it for 4 years and it just keeps getting better, $60 a year, for everything you need, and then you put $10 or $25 on your account and it s pay as you go. I have relatives in England and New Zealand and call them all the time from Florida and my $25 still lasts 6 months, no other costs, talk through your computer cam mic and speakers or buy a Skype phone at Walmart or anywhere, can even do great web cam calls, best thing is no sells people getting to you like on a normal phone as the service goes through France, you do have to dial the country code the first time you call somewhere, but put it on your contact list and thats it. SKYPE cannot be beat, best secret in the world, No I donot work for them, just love the company.

Wow..with these comments, one would surely need to think this purchase through. The lack of customer service availability is a major problem. The best of products can incur problems. I am glad I saw these comments.

I bought magicjack last year and had tried few weeks but the quality of sound messy and distorted or in and out. I removed it from my computer and left it and never used because the tone sound comes but unable to dial up. I have tried to chat through web but I could not get help.
Is this MAGICJACK scam? ... Earl

i ordered on my cell phone the magic jack i told them i wanted i magic jack it was a machine talking. well they send 2 magic jacks instead of one' i said 1 magic jack i only wanted one. i got online they told me they charged 133.70. they charged me 2 different dates at 2 different times. one payment for 46.90 and another payment for 83.80 my huband and i thought the second one was free but it was not. they charged us for 2 magic jacks.i sent the magic jacks back right away. it will take 3 days for them to receive it back what a bomber. they said they will credit my account as soon as they receive it. my whole credit card was eaten alive and now i have 38.00 left i had 250.00 in my account but i also have other bills as well i told them.. i was so upset i will never order like that again my husband told me he will do it next time but not for this for so0mething out of this not this anymore never never again... its better at the store for the same price of 37.00 even better, , , ,

this is the biggest ripoff out there...i thought that hookers charged alot to get ###ed...at least u get to enjoy that...they have the greatest customer service out there..talk to people 4 hours and get nowhere..lots of fun...this thing will never work and that is y they provide no address or phone #...best company around for the money

i bot a majicjack and put it in my conputer and it didnt work i called the number and thay said i need to turn on my conputer first i did an it work ok i guess i dont hav a phon number yet how do i get a phone number i want [protected] can i get that number Or is it taken?

OMG Suzanne - you're RIGHT! I got busted on my own rant! I just negated all my comments - I'm a tard. That is way too funny.

I really do take criticism that people offer seriously in matters like product or performance reviews. I do I.T. support for quite a few businesses, and have a career trying to read through what people are complaining about to what the real source of the issue is. And, unfortunately, in my experience, at least 1/4 of the issues people call me in for are sourced backed to user error or ignorance. That's OK. They pay me to take care of them, and I do it with joy. But I have to wade through a lot of gibberish at times just to figure out what the customer is really having a problem with. I guess that when I don't feel like I have a leg up on how something works, and I look to others to help me determine how well a product performs, that unintelligent blather can frustrate me because it isn't really telling me about the core performance issues. Its telling me stuff like "rates to the Ukraine - here's my buddy's phone number" and "in error say brooking storg since thine i was traing to emaile thime there is no unser what's so ever so i dont know what to do i have there adress where they send frome it, ..." There are probably 100 viewers of the site for every contributor. That's a lot of eyeballs watching this product. Lets all help each other out by being more detailed in the product shortcomings, avoid using IM vocabulary, and let us know what you did to correct the problems, and how the manufacturer responded with you. Now THAT's information we ALL can use.

Wow - many disgruntled customers! I love reading the complaints of a product I am considering purchasing. It gives me an idea of the "[censored] in the armor" of a product, the weaknesses - which all products and services have. You have to take with a grain of salt all the praise of a product peddled by it's website / TV ad / sales representatives. The same scrutiny should be applied as well to the criticsm offered by disgruntled customers, etc. I have never used MagicJack, but am considering it. At $40, then only $20 a year, it's EXTREMELY affordable - even to try it out. If I get it and it doesn't perform, I'm out $40 (plus S&H). Whoopdeedoo. I spend that at Starbucks (insert your own vices here) every two to three weeks. I have Qwest for my local phone service, and I spend close to $20 a month just in junk fees. It's RIDICULOUS! If this works - even on a mediocre level - it's probably worth it. Maybe I will get what I pay for, but its not like I spent a lot of money. It may be worth trying out.

My comment is not about MajicJack directly, but about the complaints. I look to product reviews to give me an educated analysis of your experience of using the product, but I'm afraid many of you are just plain dumb. I'm trying to decide if the product is hokey - or if you are stupid and can't make a simple product work. For example, can any of you spell? Its not like you are trying to spell "Czechoslovakia"! For example:

So which is it? One or two? If you sent two back, and you got charged for two, did you order two? Was it really MagicJack that screwed your order up? (I noticed the lack of capitalization of the pronoun "I". I'm sorry but the ability to use correct punctuation / grammar / capitalization does weigh in on my measure of the intellectual abilities of the contributor. It's a pet peave of mine.)

The MagicJack is a waste of time and money. The first time I used it, it worked fine. After that one call, it cuts out on my calls and you cannot hear anyone properly. You can also hear other noises on the line. This product is awful and would think it would work before someone decided to sell it. You get what you pay for. I would rather pay 24.99 a month for a phone service that worked then 40.00 a year for one that didn't.

I had no problem installing. It worked great for about 1 week and then
the poor performance began. I called tech support and spent over
an hour following the techs instructions with no success in fixing the problems. Sometimes there's no dial tone, sometimes there is a dial tone and after you dial the number it goes back to a dial tone. Other times, if the call goes through, there are sporadic interruptions on the line and quite often it just simply drops the call which is very frustrating. I believe that you get what you pay for... if it's cheap then it's probably most likely too good to be true! Meanwhile, these MagicJack folks are
getting rich on false advertising and laughing all the way to the bank.

I am still trying to get my phone to work. I called my landline from my cell and it rang but when I picked it up I just heard the dial tone. I call out and nothing happens. How is this supposed to be great for us? Kathy

I just bought the magicjack through Radio Shack, yeah, super, great, o.k. The problems I am having is that if I am on the phone with someone and another call comes in then I loose the other call without notice, I can't tell the other person to hold on, i jut loose the call. The other Problem i have is the calls are choppy, some can only hear every other word or so. Also the product don't work if I log off, if I want it to work then i have to keep my computer on. If I want to call my phone from another phone the i have to dial a 1 first then area code (like long distance). I'm about ready to take it back to Radio Shack and get my money back, hmmmmmm?

I HAVE HAD A MAGICJACK UNIT FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS NOW AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT OPERATE. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL "ON LINE CHATS" WITH AGENTS BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET MY UNIT TO WORK. I AM VERY ANXIOUS TO MAKE THE UNIT WORK BUT HAVE NOT ANY SUCCESS. I DROPPED MY HARD LINE PHONE BECAUSE OF THE EXPENSE. I AM STILL HOPEFUL THAT SOMEHOW WE CAN GET IT WORK PROPERLY.

I ordered two MagicJacks. After installing, I kept getting an error message, so I called into their live chat. They finally told me that MagicJack is not compatible with my air card. If they had disclosed this on the TV Ad, I would not have purchased it. I still don't know if I will get a refund. But I will refuse the charge on my credit card. Sounds like the company is a scam based upon all the complaints.

i have a few complaints:
1. i was charged for two magic phone of which i only wanted one, there fore i sent both back. i was charged for two.

2. ibought a magic jack phone of which paid for two years and i was billed 39.00 and everytime i write i was told that i woulld be sent a code of which i never got. in other words i was charge 39.00 which should be taken out of my account.

there should be some one live to talk with because i am very unhappy!

Magic Jack sucks and is a huge rip off. I will get the word out to as many people as I can to warn them about this rip off. I can't get magic jack to come up on my screen, it says I have to have it connected and it is connected to my computer but the phone wont work. Cant find a way to talk to any ont from magic jack. Please dont get taken by this fraud offit

I had my Magicjack for about 30 days and then it just stopped working. Kept getting "broken storage" message. Techs had me doing all kinds of things until I got tired and gave up. This happened 3 times with different techs.No customer service, no phone number to call. Buyers beware!

After having placed a order for magicjack I Attempted to call back.There is no way you can get a hold of anyone at magicjack.I checked for a phone number or a way to get some help on my computer no help.Next i checked for complaints on my computer.There appears to be scam involved.Now i want to cancell my order .After i was unable to reach anyone at magicjack i contacted my credit card co and learned they had already taken money out of my account.Thats only about 15 mins after placing the order.What happen to the 30 days.

I talked to a rep.with magic jack and complained about them taking to much money out of my account and she asured me it would be taken care of. I told her I was sending the magic jack back un opened. I still hd money taken out and I would like to have the money back in my account.
