After many years of shopping at Macy's, I have decided to close my account, because every time I have to call their customer service department, I am routed to India. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to understand the reps and it takes at least ten minutes for them to route my call back to the U.S. Also, giving one's SS #, mother's maiden name and other information to someone in another country is a very uncomfortable feeling.

Yea, when you get routed to India, there's always all this background noise...like you're sitting in the middle of a large lunchroom at about Noon. Whaaaa? And, they just keep repeating the same coined responses from a screen. They don't go out of their way, other than repeating the same responses, over and over. I also tried to call the local store, where there's an option to exit "call the store", then options to reach various departments...nobody picks up the phone. Just for the hell of it, I kept ringing these "local" extensions for hours and nobody answered in the entire afternoon. Nobody in furniture, nobody in h.r; could not reach the store manager...every extension was never answered. macy's sucks. I've already decided to not shop there anymore.

I feel your pain, and ran into the same problems: ordered a nice mattress set, but due to a communication error (mine) the mattress set was deposited on the lower level of my home, and not the bedrooms. I called the drivers, who said they could not go back to my home, and to call customer service. Again, not the delivery people's fault, but mine. However, when I tried to call macy's customer service number, the indians on the other line wrote notes in the logs that I was at fault, I was complaining, and because of this refused to do anything to call the shipping company and see if a driver could come by within the next day or two. They simply refused to help, citing "it was your fault". What f@&cked up attitude and [censored] customer service! The alternative was "you'll have to wait 2-3 weeks for us to reschedule you". I even drove into the store to talk with a furniture manager, who said "we have a special 'customer care' hotline' we can use that nobody has access to but us, and I'll send them a note about your situation. Guess what? nothing happened. There isn't any 'customer care' hotline! It was a complete b.s story by the sales guys to get rid of the Customer. In other words, nobody raised a finger to try to get somebody to my home - the drivers refused, the shipping company refused, and customer service refused...because "it was my fault and I complained". Whaaaaaaa? that's it. I'm returning the whole thing because I don't enjoy being treated this way. Closing my Macy's credit account too. They suck.

I am so annoyed that Macy’s has outsourced its Customer Service to India. I do not want to deal with these people again and going to write a nasty letter to Macy’s about this. I tried to resolve an issue today with no success. I didn’t know you could ask for America or I would have done so.

I have been a loyal Macy’s customer but am advising customers to never purchase a Macy’s e gift cards . I purchased one on 11/23 and the recipient could not use the card . It states the card was not valid . I called 3 separate times to get the card reissued and was told I would receive the new card each time but never did . Because they have outsourced customer service to India, they do not care about quality service . I gave up and ordered Amazon instead .

I have been a Macy's card holder for 18 years and spent quite a few dollars over the years and was completely disheartened and angry to find out sourcing in the customer service. I thankfully never had any issues up until the past 1 year. However I argued with someone who couldn't understand me nor wanted to help me. Her answer was return the $2500 sofa over a $10 mistake they made. Upon asking if she were American by which she tried to not answer, she was then reluctant to get me an American upon my demand. Once I got Ohio, they gladly took care of the issue. Again another incident and a person who couldn't understand. What's more infuriating is the fact that Macy's has decided to give jobs to Americans who need jobs but to Asia and India. This is enough to make me close my account. This company is not for helping Americans, but for lining their own pockets and thus contributing to the down fall of this great country. Macy's is no longer a friend.

I tried my best, after having taken a Macy's charge card, to let them know, I no longer wanted the charge account. I paid in full, the entire amount of my original purchase. After I saw the interest grow and grow and I tried to call customer service to tell them to stop...and I realized I was talking to India, I was appalled. How is it, that this great part of what is supposed to be an American institution such as Macy's, being outsourced at a time when America itself needs jobs? Shameful. Shame on Macy's. I will be looking into this further.
