Macy's worry no more

I purchased worry no more gold coverage for my outdoor furniture set in june 2010. This was to cover a $ 2, 800.00 patio set. I was told that it covered me in full, for full replacement or repair, for my entire set. My 11 foot umbrella cracked in half recently. Not even used a year. Macy's had the nerve to offer me $ 45 dollars under their plan. I told macy's that a new 11 foot umbrella is at least $ 300.00, so this is not full replacement. They told me since the original $ 2, 800 set included a 9 foot umbrella as part of the package and I paid $ 45 dollars to upgrade from 9 to 11 foot. This is why they only wanted to give me $ 45. To me, this is a scam. If it's full replacement, it should be just that. After pushing them for at ;east 6 hours of phone calls, they offered me a $ 250 gift card plus the $ 45 dollars. I suppose that is more like it, however I should not have had to go through hell to get this far. Full replacement gold coverage, should not defy common sense. Maybe my broken umbrella that they refused to deal with should have hurt someone, then they would have paid a lot more than this. I really hate being taken advantage of.

Macy's order never received

I ordered 16 placesettings of dinnerware on August 6. It is now December 1 and I am still waiting for the last three placesettings to arrive. I have contacted Macys.com over fifteen times. Each time they promise to look in to this and call me back but no one ever does. I often ask for a supervisor but they are either not available or also promise to call me back but never do. It is unbelieveable the stories they have told me about why the dishes have not arrived or where they have been sent in error, it is really endless and changes every time.

Macy's missed phone interview

I was supposed to have a phone interview today with one of your HR recruiters. I've been by my phone for more than an hour. Nobody ever called me. Who do I complain to?

If you really want the job, you don't complain to anyone. Complaining will be a sure way to ensure they hire someone who isn't you.

Macy's - outsourcing

After many years of shopping at Macy's, I have decided to close my account, because every time I have to call their customer service department, I am routed to India. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to understand the reps and it takes at least ten minutes for them to route my call back to the U.S. Also, giving one's SS #, mother's maiden name and other...

Macy's don't ever work here

Okay now where do I begin. Macy's is one of the worst places to work at for several reasons:

1. They change your schedule without telling you

2. They lie about fitting your school schedule! They expect you to live your life for macy's

3. They treat the employees poorly and unless you open up 2-3 macy's cards and make your sales goals every week, it's like you don't exist. Managers will hound you when you don't meet your credit goals but they fail to realized that our economy is bad and people aren't opening credit cards or shopping very much. Also the managers don't know # about the products so how are we supposed to help the customers.

4. The store is always shortstaffed which can cause a bit of stress on the employees as well as the customers. I can't tell you how many times customers have been mad because there wasn't an associate available. Not only that but sometimes people call out a lot so sometimes people from other depts have to help out in different areas, and sometimes leaving 1 person working in a big area alone. I don't understand why in almost 4 years of working there, there has never been enough people. Also how can we deter theft without enough associates on the floor?

5. The managers almost never have a right answer to help the customers which can be very annoying.

6. Some of the employees steal your customers and if you work in a commission area (Shoes, fine jewelry, cosmetics) that can be a real pain in the #. If you ever go the coach handbag section there's some old ladies there that will hover and hound you to buy the expensive items in the area. How annoying is that! People do not want to be smothered for any reason but they don't understand that

7. A lot of the customers are very rude and extremely cheap

8. The return policy sucks. Customers can return stuff within 6 months with a reciept which is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too lenient because some customers bring things back after 5 months and it's messed up and stuff.

Word to the wise never ever ever ever ever work at macy's you will regret it.

Executives should set an example! If one has an affair with your husband which results in a divorce, how can this person ever be respected with no moral values. Yes, it takes two and I lost respect for my husband as well which led to a divorce. With that saying, how can that executive be a leader?

The sales goals we are given daily are so unrealistic it is not even funny. And our store has some of the cheapest customers on the planet. I had a customer actually ### when a shirt on clearance rang up to be $3.50. She actually complained that she thought it would be less than that. It makes me sick to my stomach why these people shop at dept. stores but want to pay bargain basement/goodwill prices. And like it was stated above they raid the clearance racks and then want to use coupons for everything even going so far is to divide their items into several transactions so they can use more than one. Very rarely does any of the new stock sell. Even items 25%-30% hardly get touched. The only stuff I ring up is the 50%-75% off. I am so over it. And management in my store is too busy hiding in the back to see what is going on.

Wrote this 6/29/12:
Hey, I just started working at macys almost a month ago. I work in shoes, My first day working commission was two days ago. Goal 545 (sold 522). Yesterdays goal was 767.(sold 560) Both working just 4 hours. Will the goal keep increasing?
What happens if you have a low sales volume?
How can I get outta the hole if they keep increasing my goal?

What are ways I could possibly be fired? (not opening credit, not meeting 100% goal or low Items per transaction [1-2 shoes] )

I am already dealing with other employees stealing my sales btw; would have made my goal if they hadn't
One employee took the sale that I put on hold for a lady because SHE didn't actually buy them, the friend she was with did[who I also helped!]. They were still the shoes I FOUND and waited on her for. He came up to me and told me what he did like it was a favor to me to explain why HE took the sale! He has worked there 5 years and is full time. I didnt realize how pissed I should be until later... I tried to just brush it off at first. Ive put 5 items on hold for customers, doubt I'll get credit for any of them unless I work 24/7 and work with them again.
UPDATE:
Worked today. 9:30am to 1:30.
I pissed my coworkers off because they were swamped when my shirt was over; both of the 2 registers where I was gonna clock out were being used plus there were 4 ppl in one line and 3 in the other. As soon as I came into view from the backroom 2 customers asked me for shoes, one being the 3rd women in line. She was still 3rd in line when I got the shoes for her. I went back out to help the mob.
I was back getting shoes 10 mins later and one of my coworkers says "weren't you off at 130? (its around 2" "yes.- me" her- " you shouldn't take customers when you're supposed to be off."
I understand that but literally when 3 people are coming up to me and 3+ people are in line I'm not gonna be like "Sorry, I'm off. You can wait for someone to help you."
The girl that made that comment told another girl that came in at 2:15 and the girl that came in called the manager on staff and told on me, so she came and was like "you need to clock out as soon as youre done with a customer (who I was working with for 30+ mins bc she bought 6 pairs of shoes)

Another thing is I spent an hour with a lady and she put -10-! shoes on hold. For sure getting at least 6 of them. She said she'd be back today but since I won't be there I doubt I'll get the sale >:[

yup that pretty much sums up my collective experience with working for macys as well! and i would also like to add to your list: (
9. they rate your productivity (how much of an asset you are to them) based on a scorecard-a point system for making your quotas for sales volume, average sale, items per transaction and how many credits you make, with sales volume goal giving the highest number of points (65 pts.) and the rest get 7-15 pts each. so that basically means if you don't make your sales quota consistently every day, you won't score very high on your scorecard, because you would have missed the bulk of the pts from the sales volume goal. all the sales volume is telling you is really just how much you are ringing sales up at the register! it doesn't take into account if you actually SERVICED the customers you are ringing at all or not-which is actually a big part of our job, i mean, that is how you build the sale, right? "magic selling" means making a connection with the customer, inspiring them to buy more, yadayadayada. I can magic sell all day for all i'm worth, but if the customer isn't done shopping and goes to another department or i have to take my lunch break, or i'm busy with another customer (see #4 above), they are just going to check out at the nearest available register, because it's not like we're getting commission, so they don't feel compelled to wait for us just to check out-there's no store policy in place that says you have to pay for your stuff before going to another department (aside from commission dept). Also, the associate at the reg. is not likely to ask if anyone had assisted them, they will just see the load of stuff you helped the customer find, and think how lucky they are to be at the reg, at the right time to snag the sale and how fast they are going to make their goal today! So tell me how the scorecard directly relates to your actual performance of your duties, (because that is how they are determining how much to increase your pay by each year) and tell me how magic selling is supposed to directly raise your scorecard. All i've learned is you can service the customer and build the sale, but they are not necessarily going to check out with you, for various reasons, so you won't get your sale credited to you, so management thinks your just sitting on your ### all day twiddling your thumbs so they give you a ### 10-25 cent raise per year!
10. it's hard as hell to make your goal when your busy with customer service, clearing out the fitting rooms and maintaining your area, and when just about everything in your department is on sale or clearance AND the customer wants to use her coupons on top of already low prices, and when you can't even get on the registers b/c some employees stay there all day and don't do jack ### else but ring. and then they rank all associates on the percentage of sales goal they made the day before and reward them at the morning meetings, when their sales goal was miniscule in relation to yours, so they ended up with like 500% of their goal, and that means they are the top producing employees in the store. a perfect example: one of the ladies down in fine jewelry had a sales goal one day of $16 (wtf! ya, i know-right?! fyi-my goal was 2504 that day...). she made one sale of a pair of earrings and was top of the list the next day with 625% of her sales volume goal. meanwhile, i busted ### all day and STILL ended up only 87% of my goal, and not even on the darn list...and that is how the cookie crumbles here at macy's. eventually you just start not caring about making your goal and your scorecard, and just focus on making the customer happy (hey, isn't that one of our core values?!) and letting the other more cutthroat competitive brown-nosed ### fight over the customers at the register just to get a "goodie" from mgmt.

Gee, am i bitter much? lol! and that's not even the HALF of it...

Macy's they just don't care

There's a reason why it seems like Macy's is always hiring... once you get in, you're dying to get out. I've worked there once and have had two interviews since then, so let's just talk about the interview first.

Whatever you apply for, won't be the position they interview you for. I applied for a sales associate, they try to make me become a beauty adviser. I apply for day full time position, they try to convince me to work a nights part time position. It seems a little fishy to me that every time you go in for an interview for whatever you applied for that they try to convince you into doing something else. I truly believe that they post those job openings just to get people to come in so they can try to persuade them into crappy jobs. If you say no, you'll then soon get an email saying you weren't a right fit for the job you applied for, even though you are, they just wanted you to work something else.

When you do work there they'll throw you out on the floor all alone to cover a few areas, even if you didn't have full training yet. They won't tell you what to do, they'll just leave you to fend for yourself. I remember my first day I was left to cover three areas alone. I was terrified, I didn't know what to do! I thought I was doing well until finally a supervisor came over to me and gave me crap for not cleaning out all the fitting rooms every 45 minutes. I didn't even know!

Just how at another Macy's store I went into one day, they had a huge sale in shoes and the girl working in the shoes all by herself was having a hard time. She kept apologizing to everyone saying it's her first day and she hasn't had all of her training yet. Her supervisor came over to her and yelled that she wasn't working fast enough.

Their biggest concern is how many credit accounts you can get open. If you don't get so many a week they'll give you complete crap for it. You can't force people to open accounts, especially at this time when our economy isn't doing so well!

When I was working there I either had to get a ride home or take a few buses. I worked at the Macy's farthest from me, and just about everyday they would ask me to work late if I wasn't already working a full shift. When I told them no for obvious reasons, they would get really upset with me.

The co-workers are one extreme to another at each store. You will work with some very nice people, and then you will work with the people who hog the register so they will reach their sales goal, while you won't be able to get to half of yours.

To be honest, Macy's Inc. doesn't really give a damn about their employees. You're just another number to them (really, you get a number.) You get in there and the only thing they care about is how many credit accounts you open and how high your sales goal is. I understand it's a business, and you have to really work, but there's no reason to treat employees poorly.

It all looks good from the outside when you're just starting. They'll tell you about this great program they have if you ever have a problem, and how you can earn "Macy Money, " but really it's not worth it. Unless you want a retail job that you're miserable at, and have to work like a dog for peanuts, then find anywhere else to go.

Again ILC3 I didn't go back to work for them. I was blessed to have found a higher paying job. I turned the offer down. Maybe you should go work for the company and see how much you love it. Every single person I know who have worked for Macys Inc. hated it because they were treated poorly. Educate yourself before you attack me.

The only person who needs to "shut the ### up" is you TheLoveFist V. I see you comment negatively on everyones postings. You don't like what I have to say? Then don't read it. You have no valid point in your comments if all you can say is to "shut the ### up." How classy of you!

Wanderinghebrew I do count my blessings. I've worked in a factory in the dead heat of summer with no A/C, doing hard physical labor. I've worked days from 5:30 AM to 4:30 pm. I know what a real days work is. The conditions weren't great, but at least they didn't treat their employees badly. That's my point.

It has nothing to do with the actual work you do at Macy's, but how they treat you.

Update by The HappyEmployee
Jun 28, 2011 9:50 pm EDT

Actually ILC3 it's extremely hard to find a job where I live, I'll do anything I need to do to help my family to survive. Not everyone in this world has that luxury.

I guess if you haven't worked there you wouldn't know how bad it really is. I've worked other places and never have been treated badly like I was there. So if you don't like what I have to say, then don't read it.

Wow...I started working at Macy's in Pleasanton, CA around the time this complaint was posted! I totally agree with everything you have said...what's even sadder is the lie's they tell the Christmas help. In my department the manager feeds employees and others info that may or may not be true? I am starting to question so much...especially how a associate still has a job who was drunk at work the other day in the morning...then laying on the floor.
It's been a real eye opener for me...I am an employee that really respected my company and I still give my job 100%. I just feel that there are so many scams and lies going on that I will be moving on... BTW...I am a business owner as well and this has pretty much been so disappointing.

Macy's crdeit card fraud & identity theft

On June 6, 2011 a friend of mine recieved a bill in the mail from Macy's for his Mother Catherine Blake Formerly of 5 Avila rd. Billerica, Ma. The statement thanked her for opening a new Macy's account On May 28, 2011 and showed a balance of $1, 429.00 for the Purchases of Fine Watches-Gucci Bracelets for $1650.00 at the Square One Mall In Saugus, Massachusettes with a new account savings of $350.63 a Massachusettes sales tax of $103.13 & showing a reciept total of $1, 753.13 also a Credit Pro fee of $26.50 . I advised my friend to contact the Police immediatlely in which he did @ 1933 Billerica Police Department incident report Now deemed as Case # 11-01208. On June 7, 2008 I called the store and requested to speak with the Store manager Mark Marchetti @ [protected] ext 2222 to ask him how someone who died on February 11, 2011 and is buried in Fox hill Cemetary with another one of her sons could have possibly made these purchases, I remained on hold for over 30 minutes he never responded. The response we recieved is dated June 15, 2011 from Phillips & Cohen Associates, of Wilmington, Delaware & Weymouth, Massachusettes addressed to the Estate of Catheron Blake asking to accept their condolences & by the way theirs a balance due of $ 3781.84. Please note her Name isn't spelled correctly. I find this to be appalling for the grieving family Catheron was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in November 2010 she Died February 11, 2011 at the age of 63. Now comes a store like Macy's authorizes a fraudulent account obviosly some form of Identity Theft and this is how they respond extrorting money from her estate. Shame on you Macy's for this reason I will never shop your stores and I'm passing my concerns on to all my friends, family & neighbors. The federal Trade commission has been notified other stores that have notified us of Fraudelent charges have worked with me without ado, Best Buy, Target, Sears, Kohls, & JC Penny their deligence in these matters has been appropriate. MACY"S APPALLING and the Person who has stolen the identity of this wonderful Lady after her death shame on you & May God forgive you because no one else will . Macy's arrogant customer service

I had misplaced my invoice from last month and was charged a $25 late fee. When this rare incident happens, I always try to talk to customer service, - most service companies will reverse a one-time late fee charge without a problem as long as it is not a recurrent offense.
After spending 45 minutes of my life trying to get through to a customer service representative - I finally got hold of this arrogant guy who is negotiating a $14 fee for paying over the phone versus my late fee of $25!...geeee, I am saving $10! I told him I did not appreciate his tone and the way he was handling the situation. He just kept wanting to know when I would pay my amount due. I finally told him I would pay off the full amount and NEVER AGAIN use Macy's credit card! I am just wondering how Macy's can afford loosing customers in these tough times?

I work in collections at Macy's and I do not appreciate ranting and raving imbeciles who refuse to read their billing statements... or contact us in a timely manner. If customers have issues receiving their on line billing statements they need to call [protected] and we will be happy to work with them. Every one of us deserves to be treated with respect and it's a two way street. If you don't understanding something ask questions... but don't waste our time asking us to review every transaction that you have made for months...

I've had a late fee on my account a few times over the years and it's never been an issue for me. I called and quickly got someone, explained my situatution and they waived the fee. I call with kindness and respect that they have the right to say no because it's my mistake after all. Never had a problem.

Macy's beware

Actually, this should be a -3 stars because working at Macy's is a joke! I can only speak for my own store and experience but if you are in Houston, Tx DO NOT go to the West Oaks Mall Macy's. The managers are lazy and delegate all their responsibilities to the AST members and then yell at them for not getting their duties done. Speaking as an employee no wonder the turn over is so high. It's the most unprofessional, catty hostile work environment I have ever worked at. Employees are written up for everything from not making sales to not smiling enough (true story). The store manager shops and puts merchandize in her office till it goes on sale so she can get it for pennies on the dollar. The store looks like crap and no one has loyalty. I am sorry but when you are nit picked to death, you as a employee don't have much "Magic" to spread around. No wonder your satisfactory rating is below 50%. I hope this location closes in the near future. Even as a customer I will not shop in my store. Actually, this experience has closed me off from ever shopping at Macy's ever again.

I work at Macy’s and unfortunately I had been continuously harassed by a black lady. I filed a harassment case against her. A couple of months later I get called to HR. They made me sign a piece of paper that said if anything else came from it I would be terminated? I could not believe it. I was the one being harassed. So our store made a path to growth bonus. They would not give me my bonus because it was a final warning even though I had never been written up before. The lady I filed the report against received her bonus. I have contacted a attorney but not sure yet if it will do any good. I told my boss that I had contacted a attorney and he asked what he could do to make things right. I said give me my bonus check that I worked for! I can’t believe I have been treated like this. The have a code of conduct rules which is a joke. They say they don’t tolerate harassment but that is a lie because I reported harassment and I was the one written up? WTF

First off, i was recently laid off from my job in June. Im a college student and dont get financial aid because my parents make too much money. I had heard from some people that macys was hiring (Hmm i wonder why). I loathe retail. I used to work at forever 21 and even i witnessed alot of crap. Im pretty sure i can handle macy because forever 21 is a messy, hectic, and stressful place. I had been applying for stores for a whole month and macys was the only place that responded. Anyways, i purposely put on my application i couldnt work friday, sat and sunday nights. I know how those retail stores work. I knew they would schedule me for the ### hours so i didnt put them down. Aftering offering me the position, the guy said friday, saturday and sunday nights were the only hours available. Plus, being scheduled for those orientation days tues/thurs is ridiculous. I go to school tues and thurs and i dont understand why those are the only days that are offered. Uggh i knew at that moment that macys wasn't going to be as understanding and helping as i thought it to be but, being a person that has bills to pay (car insurance, car note, food, gas etc) i told them that i could work those hours as "on-call." I am pretty sure i am going to regret working there, but i dont plan on staying for long. I just needed something to get me buy till october till im done with school and move.

Macy's charges and fees

I shop at Macy's store once in a while. Every time I pay at the register, the sales clerk usually tries to entice me to sign up for the card to get extra discount. After a few of such attempts by the sales clerk, I finally agreed to apply for the card. The trap has been set.

I later made a purchase at the store worth of $30 and put it on my Macy's card. Here's the mistake I made. I have many credit cards and am on top of making consistent payment. I don't use the Macy's card very often, so i don't really check my statement every month. A a result I missed my payment. The late fee? It's a whopping $27 on the $30 I owe - that's a 90% increase. This is a sure way Macy's can make a profit kill fast, and forget about selling the products.

And unfortunately I missed my next monthly statement. So now I'm charged $37 fee because I owe them the inflated $57 from previous statement. The total I owe now is $94. By this time I realized what was happening and called in to resolve the situation.

I wanted to pay off the entire balance over the phone. Oh by the way there's a $15 charge to make a phone payment (no kidding). After my plea, the phone payment charge was reduced to $5. So made a total of $99 payment over the phone.

A week later I got a call from Macy's collection dept. saying my last payment attempt didn't go through. Why? Because the last agent didn't put the correct info into the system. So they got a return check. Oh by the way, a return check will cost me $25. So now I owe $124! Unbelievable.

Today I gave Macy's collection dept a call and try to square this off. The agent wanted to charge me yet another phone payment fee of $15. I was furious, and told the agent that this is supposed to be making correct for my last payment, not a new phone payment. He agreed and dropped the charge.

Conclusion - It is just not worth the potential trouble you'll get into applying the Macy's card to save some money. No, in the end, I lost a whole lot more than I save. And Macy's has just lost a royal customer. This is a loose - loose game, Macy's.

For those of you shopperholic, maybe the card does you great savings if you are really on top of it making full payment every month. For there rest of us, my advice is just use your regular credit card and gain milage rewards on your card instead.

Macy's vulture policy makes sure they won't loose a penny to anyone and can make a good profit kill at the same time. In the end, they also loos some customers for good.

I've been using cards for 15 years and have more cards than i need. You think I don't know about penalty and fine print? How do you like for being given a parking ticket for $5, 000? I can tell you, well next time don't park illegally. You've never made a mistake in your life before? And if you did, you'll take any penalty given to you no matter how ridiculous it is? Bunch of square heads.

@heath2011, @Shawn Rinzee, @Here We Go Again

I don't think you guys get the deeper layer of the story i'm trying to express. Sure, i'm fully aware that it was my mistake not paying the bill. And sure, Macy's was just enforcing its "rules." And i don't need your sympathy over the fact i had to pay for my mistake.

Here's the more important part most people over look or just assume that's part of life and become suckers. The policy itself is just plain unfair and written at the company's advantage. How do you like if you mis paying your phone bill of $50 and end up paying $95 as a result?

This practice is done more often in the banking industry because these companies know as a fact that there will be always a small percentage of customers making this type of mistake, and the company may as well turn this into a very profitable business.

If you were to run a restaurant, and a customer spills his full cup of coffee by accident. What would you do (remember this is the same customer coming almost everyday) -- do you say, no problem, let me replace your cup of coffee at no charge, or say, well too bad, you need to pay for cleaning fee and for your replacement, too.

I relate 100% with the first story written here about Macy's and their horrendous credit card scam! That is exactly how they get you too...why use your DISCOVER Platinum card with your excellent credit rating that goes totally out of their way to make you happy and keep you happy by trying not to charge you even low interest when you can instead take out a Macy's card with a company that lies about sending out statements. Then they wait three months and with 26.99% APR and an insane $38.00 monthly late charge...your $50 pair of slacks you missed is now pushing $300.00 and growing! We are so done with Macy's and now have become huge supporters of telling others...warning them really...to avoid Macy's at all costs! Oh...and don't bother with the BBB or your state's consumer (UN) Protection agencies...Macy's rules every time!

I called macys and got the payoff on my credit card in August 2015 paid the whole bill off. Then in November 2015 I get a bill for 2.00 in intrest I went to macys to ask them whats the interest on when my account was paid off in full in August. Got a manager she was on the phone calling macys and low and behold they told her they are sending me back 14.95 plus the two dollars in intrest and I still dont know why nor did the store manager. But its better off in my pocket rather than theres. Id suggest making sure you check your bill regulary. If they charged me 2.00 interest on nothing imagine how many are also getting charged for a closed account

Macy's customer service

I went to the mac counter to get a color match. After Eboni, the artist turned around and asked if we had been helped, she did not help us after she finished with her client. I only needed a quick color match that took less than 5 minutes and I think her name is Jessica helped me although she had a client (who kept getting on the phone). There was another artist who did not help me because "I have to leave" and a group of people who arrived after me were helped. I started being very rude and loud because that is ridiculous EBONI. I walked back by the counter and Eboni had left also. I ended up going to Bobby Brown and Sara was very helpful and attended my needs quickly.

Macy's time limit

There has been a stain on my $2000 sofa for about 3 months. I dug around for my worrynomore brochure, but could not find it. A wedding and master's degree program got in the way of further investigation. When I finally called, they informed me that since I did not call within 10 days of noticing the stain, they cannot help me. I started crying because in an economy such as the one we are in $2000 + the cost of the warranty is a lot of money to lose, and they hung up on me. I have never been treated so poorly by customer service agents in my life. Shame on you, Macy's. I can tell you one thing -- I will never shop there again!

Macy's $2.00 charge

I received my Bill and had a $2.00 charge for revolving credit. My April bill was received by me on 4/4, I paid the bill on 4/19, they didn't credit my account until 4/26. When I called they said they are allowed to charge $2.00 fee for payment not received by 4/15 - the bill wasn't due until 4/26. It's a scam. I canceled my Macy's account and will no longer purchase anything from them.

Get this! Macy's is rip off and we need to spread the word. I have had a credit card with them for about 9 years now and i have always paid on time. I only got a revolver account because I worked for them at one time and they gave it to me. I recently just started slipping on payments about 1-3 days late past the due date. So first off I get calls one day after the due date harrassing me that I am late, on a 5 dollar minimum payment are you serious! they must be hurting for money. And on top of that they are calling to notify me that there is going to be a 30 dollar late fee on top of the 5 dollars! are you kidding me thats like 6 times the mimimum amount due! this has got to be a joke, talk about bad customer relations and taking advantage of a customer. Give them at least a few days lead way! I am paying off my card and cutting it up..no more MACYS for me!

Macys are bunch on Mother###ers. They reported me to the credit bureau for non payment of $30, but i never received the bill in the mail. I requested them and they are acting as though it is my fault. My entire family shops at Macys, they are crooks. I SWEAR NEVER TO WALK INTO A MACYS EVER AGAIN IF THIS IS NOT RESOLVED. I have an interest free furniture purchase as well as a revolving account with Macy's. I always pay significantly more than the required payment. I tried to purchase an item for $49.00. My purchase was declined. I called customer service. After a lengthy and ridiculous conversation, I repeatedly asked why policy change notice had not been given to customers, exactly what were policy specifics, etc. The phone representative, who then told me my credit limit which previously had been $1500. Now had no spending limit. I had to approve each purchase. If I would just make a payment of $47.00 I could purchase the item I want for $49.00. I said I pay you more than double my required minimum, sometimes twice a month. I paid you two days ago-literally 27 days early for next statement. How is this logical?
He responded with" blame the government, it's their fault. The government and their new credit rules are at fault. It's the way it will be! No copy of policy will ever be released. We don't have to tell you!" I said, " that has to be the most ridiculous statement ever, as for government? Perhaps you should look up the regulations under FDCPA. Your policy is both arbitrary, uninformed, and will cost you customers. Courtesy and explanations before attempted purchases would have gotten you further with consumers. I loved Macy's, always helpful, genuinely nice people. I liked the service, integrity, and quality products. In approximately 15 minutes, that belief and unequivocal endorsement has been negated. Not because you refused my purchase without reason, but because of ignorance, rudeness and complete lack of respect for consumer base. Hint: it's how you continue to both thrive and profit in a lousy economy. You're trading on your reputation not just merchandise.

I had the same thing happen to me today. I have had my Macy's card since 2006 and I have never been late on a payment and always pay more than the minimum payment or pay it off in full. My available credit used to be $500 and I just payed off the $50 I owed on it but when I went to the store to make a $90 purchase it was declined and when I asked the girl why she did nothing to help me. All she said was that I could call the customer service but they will probably deny it because it needs to be prepaid. I'm sure the information she gave me was incorrect but I am still extremely dissapointed with Macy's.

i understand the issue but that is true the card has no limit it is based mostly on the credit history with macys if you are a card holder that dose not keep a balance on the card and pays it off every month they will always allow you to make your purchase but if you are a card holder that only pays the least amount and keeps a high balance it will not allow you to make the purchase as a employee i understand

This just happened to me. I went into the store to buy something for $66 bucks, my wife and daughter had just bought something a week prior for $80 bucks with no issues. My purchase of $66 was declined asking for other form of payment. They called in and requested my yearly income to approve my purchase and that my card had no limit. I said I had a limit of $800 and just paid it OFF in full WTF!

I am not sure what Macy's and the Department Store credit card company is doing but I do plan on finding out. I am going to research this, cancel my card, write the big shots a nasty letter which will go to the BBB, and finally never walk in the store again.

I have NEVER missed a payment or been late on a payment, and to be declined in this fashion at the store was humiliating to say the least. I have never been treated so badly by a company or more like a piece of trash than I was by those people that day.

Besides my card with Macy's I would spend an easy $1000 a year in just dress clothes for work and misc. things for my daughter, I will NEVER step foot in that store again no matter what butt kissing the store ever plans on doing. I will make it a life time event to share the experience with EVERYONE I speak to regarding department stores and draw business away via word of mouth and internet blogging. This company does not deserve to stick around, treating customers this way, how can they expect to screw customers around and then thank them with a smile afterwards?

As soon as my small $80 is paid off IN FULL this Friday, my card will be canceled "Officially" (Already been cut up) and I will make sure the executives get pictures of it all, never stepping foot near this store again!

All credit cards do this, that's why I don't use them, if you are one day late you'll be charged an astronomical fee as well as the high interest rate. I think I'll continue to pay cash.

Macy's discrimination and poor hiring skills

I applied for a part-time job at the store and was told I would hear from them in a few days. I was about the only one that was dressed in a professional manner and when I looked around I was shocked at how sloppy some of the applicants were dressed. I will say that Macy's only hires Blacks and hispanics and a few white people to hide the fact. But most people have asked why there are no whites on the floor. Talk about discrimination. I was treated very poorly there by the younger people who have no respect for adults and poor work ethics. They would fight in front of customers and customers even complained to me about the way one of my co-workers was treating me. The Manager made it obvious who she liked. From the moment I met her she was nasty and jumped to conclusions instead of listening. Poor management skills. Ex. A customer was returning a bracelet for the third time so I called her and she yelled on the floor "you don't bother me you ask one of your coworkers to help you." (something to that effect). Then when she shut her mouth long enough to hear me out, she said "Oh I have to talk to her." She told the woman it would be the last time she would take the bracelet back and told her that maybe it was the wrong style for her...was I right, yes, did I get an apology, no. With the constant discord there, I decided to leave a week early and went to Human Resources to tell them. They thanked me and said most people just walk out on them without a word. They also told me that there were a lot of complaints about the Christmas help they hired. Do I get called for a regular job, no. Why because they don't know that most people can do a good job given the chance and if you have a brain in your head, you can do more than one thing. I was told how good I was with customers and most customers bought what I suggested.
So what is it they are looking for? No one knows but certainly customers are very dissatisfied with their customer service. I saw a regular employee verbally attack a customer. Angry people work there and I have had enough of Macy's. By the way I worked at the Flagship store and after leaving I went down and had to prove that my credit card was compromised. A security manager took the time to check it out and returned my money within 5 minutes - he look so embarrassed. The manager of the dept. I bought from assumed I was wrong and never thought that maybe one of her workers stole from me or made a mistake. Live and learn.

Macy's defective product

I purchased a king size Ultra Plus Euro bed on sale for $897.00 + $50.00 delivery fee + $62.79 in taxes, so you could say a $1, 000 king size bed. This bed is definitely not a Posturepedic Ultra Plus Euro Pillow Top Mattress. Me & my husband have severe back problems & as result of sleeping on this bed created more pain than we had before, which defeated the whole purpose of buying the bed. I complained, they send a 3rd party out and they replaced the bed. It was so bad that there was a hump in the middle and the astro (?) foam did not return to it original position. The second bed was even worse ! I called again and they sent another independent agent out to verify the defects. But at this point we could no longer sleep on the bed due to the pain it had caused us, therefore, we were rejected, so now we have a bed we cannot even sleep in...Do not Buy from Macy's, if you check, every year they discontinue something and I guess our's definitely a reject. What a waste of money and a scam.

My husband and I bought a mattress and headboard from Macy's before we got married, and arranged for delivery the week of our wedding. We did not get the bed. After about 3 weeks of a run around, and getting excuses (they claimed they ordered the mattress and the frame twice, and each time they arrived damaged), I called the warehouse directly (got the number from a friend that worked for Macy's)
Found out from the warehouse foreman, that I had two mattresses, and NO frame. Turned out that the salesperson did not order the frame on time, and that there was not problem with the mattresss!

Macy's opened credit cards without my permission

I made some purchases from the Macy's store in January this year. They had some promotion going, and offered me to become a member to get a discount on my whole purchase. I said I don't want to open a card with them, to which they replied that it's not necessary. I paid for the items with my credit card and left. After three months I got contacted by their collector department that was demanding a payment. Only after minutes into the conversation I realized that he wanted me to pay the amount I already paid again plus a late fee. From his words I opened TWO cards with Macy's and one card has a balance on it I did not pay.

I have been fighting ever since, they had illegally opened the credit cards without my permission and harassing me every day for not paying and threated me for reporting it to credit agency. I have disputed it several time and asked them to show me the proof or signed copy of my receipts
that i have asked to open them the cards and paid it using the store card. But ever after 5 months I have no reply from them.

I call ###. It's physically impossible for them to sign you up for a credit card without your permission. They need your birthdate, social security number, address, and annual income in order to open a Macy's credit card.

If you put your social security number, birthdate, address, and annual income in their keypad, then you opened a line of credit and it's your fault.

Macy's sofa

We bought a leather sofa, 4 leather chairs and 3 ottomans at Macys in 2006. The leather on the sofa started to peel, crack
and lose color on the seats of the sofa, we called Macys and a salesperson said contact WorryNoMore, we did. They told us
this was not covered call back if it tears. It did tear, we did call back. Worry No More, sent a tech to our home to evaluate
the situation, and take pictures. He told us that this should definetly be covered under our protection plan. He made a
phone call to his manager and his mood changed. He could not run fast enough to get out of our home. Right than we knew
she had told him this is not covered. Three weeks later on February 9th, 2011 we received the letter from Worry No More,
not covered for the tear, discoloration or cracking and peeling. They said this is normal wear and tear. Upset with this
we called Macy's again and they suggested we contact Macy's Corporate Office. I did and spoke to a very nice women
Lisa who said she would look into this and call me back. She kept her word but the outcome is the same. They are refusing
to look into this further. I have been buying from this company when they were G. Fox and they were owned by
Mrs. Aurbach. My point is that large companies really do not care, they can sell you anything, suggest that you really
need a protection plan, but never tell you the truth about what it does cover, and than when you need them they
find an excuse as to why your item is not covered. I suggest that anyone going to buy furniture from Macys, read the protection plan, the sales person will go over it with you, but it is in the boc with the polishes when you buy the plan.
Take it out read it right there. We are giving up our Macy's card after 48 years. That is how disgusted I am.
