Lowe's refusal to duplicate keys

The attendant at this store in the key duplicating area refused to copy a car key. I have never heard this before. The attendant there named "Bob", said it was against the law to duplicate car keys. I checked with Florida law, and contacted my local legal experts. They researched this issue and determined there is no law preventing anyone from duplicating their own car keys, including transponder keys. I was very surprised that "Lowes" is refusing business. I have been shopping at this store for 3 years, and live across the street. I did not appreciate the assumption that all customers are criminals trying to steal cars.

Have you taken this up with the store manager? Head Office? I would do that before I ever posted something here, unless I just wanted to vent.
It's all according to what you want to achieve.

Lowe's 61 weeks without a kitchen

In April 2010, my mother purchased $11, 000+ of products from Lowes and has paid $1500 in Lowes interest for a kitchen that cannot be used and two bathrooms that do not have doors and drawers. 61 weeks later, and 20 visits to her house post installation, Lowe's has done nothing but discuss the situation. Meanwhile my mother who is a senior does not even have a kitchen sink in her home. Not only is my mother out an entire kitchen, bathroom vanities, and all supplies to renovate the three rooms, but she is also paying interest on her personal credit cards for products she can't use, eating every meal out, paying hotel costs for guests, and having to get various family members and professionals to spend their time trying to get Lowe's to respond and take action. They promise things, but nothing has been put in writing to address these problems.

Lowe's light keeps cutting off

I purchased a Harbor Breeze fan a few months ago, less than a year. The light fixture will come on sometimes and other times it won't. When it comes on it stays for a while and then cuts off. I felt one of the compointments and it felt really hot. What is the problem with the fan and light? Can I fix it?

Thank you,

Lowe's tax exempt transaction problems

Good morning, I do not think this will do any good, but I will give it a shot! Yesterday july 27th I went to lowes in meridian ms. I pulled myself and 2 employees off the job to go and get much needed tools for our profession. Spent about and hour gathering items and looking at possible thing we wanted to do later like build a tool room with stainless steel cabinets. After picking out about $2000.00 worth of tools we proceeded to the check out counter. I told the lady before she started that this will be a tax exempt transaction since I have a government credit card.

Lowe's are liars

They are not sincere with their business. There is no career advancement there. They will only advance you only when they feel like it. You can apply for all the positions too your hearts content, but they will not give it to. Even when you have the qualification to the do so. I have been with lowe's for 8 years. Really! They do not care about their employee's at all. They pay them the lowest amount possible. Decrease my hours! I might loose my house. They do not care!
They give you fake "thank you's", there is not sincerity in it at all.
Lowe's is a piece of ### for a corporation. I hate working there, but I do not have a choice. I am screwed by the world! This is america! Bull ###! May be it would be better if I died.

Lowe's poor quality of products

I purchased a complete kitchen of Whirlpool and Samsung products from Lowe's 13 months ago. 50% of the items have failed and broken already. The Whirlpool range was still in warranty, but the Samsung microwave was not. These were not the cheap ones, they were the items that Lowe's recommended for me. The quality of the products that they offer is extremely poor, and anyone purchasing there should be aware that they would be better off buying a cheap Chinese knock-off at a flea market. I personally will not shop at Lowes again, and I would not recommend that anyone else support this company that offers low quality at high prices.

Lowe's employment practices

To all that this may concern,

I thought that I should point out that the store manager for Lowe's of Little Elm has to be the worst manger that I have ever seen!

Complaint:
I was in line checking out when I heard some screaming. I looked over towards the exit doors and noticed what I thought was four employees having an argument. I later learned from the little cahsier that this was a store manager yelling at his employee in fromt of everyone. Yarvis Evens (? on last name) was cursing and using the most fowl language that anyone should ever use. The girl that was being yelled at looked like she was in tears and this man still just keept calling her an A#$ Hole, a DUMB A%$... etc. I couldnt believe it, never seen that unprofessional behavior in my life. This store manager should be fired!

I hope that anyone who reads this will go shop somewhere else and not at his store. The corporate office should hear about this.

Lowe's poor quality

Purchased a ceiling fan to only find out the motor was defective. Of course you can only discover this after you've installed the fan. I figure I spent about 2 and half hours between the purchase, installation and return so the least I could do is spend the same amount of time complaining on the internet. Sadly, the days of being able to purchase quality products are long gone simply because it is not in Lowe's best interest. They are only concerned about price and volume and with a business plan of build it and they will come you really have no choice but to do business with them. Really, think about it, the only alternative in most areas is Home Depot, the same poor quality and service but with a different color. I guess you just have to decide if you want to get screwed by Blue or Orange. The only problem is my screw driver broke last week. You can guess where I purchased it.

I had a ceiling fan from Lowes make my child ill, it was over heating and out-gassing formaldehyde. After being in a bed room with this fan slowly poisoning her for a few months, she began having seizures. We are still dealing with the aftermath of this 1 year later. Just like every other store alot of their merchandise comes from China if you go to any product recall site 90% of recalled products are made in China and alot of the recalls are due to this or that TOXIC substance being used in the manufacturing of the product. It should be unacceptable for the USA to have these dangerous products shipped in! Yes it may cost alittle more to have more things made in America but in the end we will all pay with our health!

Take the time to read the name on the box the fan came in.

Complain to the maker of the fan.

Lowes sell both cheap and expensive fans.

If you purchased a Sears Craftsman screwdriver, you could get it replaced for free.

perhaps you should blame the quality on the manufacturer of the item. your blaming a company that gives equal opportunity to all manufacturers by giving them the ability to sell that product in their store.

Lowe's shotty installation

Used Holmdel Lowes to purchase carpeting. Got the C team for the installation, horrid bumpy seams, bad installation along woodwork, uneven. Installers left carpet in the rain and in the dirt outside my home rather than in the truck. Aside from being rude and argumentative on site, when I complained the in store shill told me the reason for the poor installation was my house was full of boxes. WRONG. House was EMPTY. Go elsewhere to your local dealer and avoid Lowes. Had countertops installed there and that was a nightmare too but at least the contractor they subbed it to made it right.

Lowe's ask the experts, not!

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to inform you of a unacceptable experience that I recently had at Lowes, the Brockport location.

I recently finished sanding and painting my kitchen cabinets and went to Brockport Lowes to pick up new hardware for our cabinets. Since I was there I decided to get some clear sealer for them instead of stopping at Sherwin Williams, which was where I got the paint. I asked the woman in the paint department for advice on which sealer to get for my newly painted cabinets. The girl that I asked wasn’t sure so she got someone else to advise me. I informed the second woman that I needed a clear sealer for my painted cabinets and she directed me as to which was the correct one. I purchased the sealer that she recommended.

The sealer went on clear, so since we have many children I sealed the cabinets that night so it would be dry when our children got up. The following morning all of the cabinets were streaked yellow and ruined. After I picked myself up off the floor, I took one of the doors, the sealer and my receipt back to Lowes. This is where the fun really starts.

I went to the paint department with determined calm and told the gentleman there that I had a problem. I explained that the sealer that I bought the previous day ruined my cabinets. He said that I got the wrong sealer, and I explained that I was given the wrong sealer. He walked away to get the correct sealer and a young woman who works in the paint department came over and asked me to describe the woman who assisted me the previous day. I described her and she said “Oh, well, she doesn’t know what she is doing”. Then she instructed me on why it was the wrong sealer to use on painted cabinets and what I should have used. I said to her that at this point her instruction does not help me much now that I have to re-sand everything and start over. She actually threw her hands up and walked away from me.
I asked to speak with a manager. I went over to the service desk and a very kind young lady helped me and I explained to the manager what had happened. He left to speak with the people in the paint department. After some time the manager called the young lady at the service desk and told her to tell me that they would give me half off whatever I needed to fix the cabinets.

Why should I have had to pay anything to fix the problem the your employee caused? At the time I was just too upset and frustrated to argue and I purchased sand paper and paint. Ask the experts? Are you kidding me? I spent the next 3 days sanding and re-painting all of my cabinets.

The worst part is that not once did I get an apology from the manager for the HUGE mistake that his employee made. We have many home and business projects that are in the planning stages and I can assure you that I will not risk my time or money again.

Not all of your employees are horrible, just 3 out of 5. The gentleman at the paint department was at least empathetic and the young lady at the service desk was very nice. As for the rest, why is someone working in the paint department if she “doesn’t know what she is doing”? Why do you employ someone who will throw their hands up and walk away from someone who has a legitimate complaint? Are managers trained to at least apologize for mistakes made by employees, face to face? If not, why not?

I hope that this at least gives you some insight as to what is really going on in your store. Maybe it will prevent someone else getting the wrong instruction leading to damaging consequences.

Thank you for your time,

Aimee Mesiti

Lowe's quality of product

June 14, 2011... I recently purchased fencing from lowes, stained pine fencing approximately$ 44.34 per panel and we purchased 10 panels. After installing the fence on sunday june 12th, by tuesday some areas of the fence starting to bow out and curve. It looked terrible! We were expecting the fence to last longer than 2 days. Lowes does not sell decent quality fencing. After spending so much time, money and effort into putting this fence up and seeing this we are still very upset. We bought all are supplies from lowes (11 post 4x 4 x 12, 32 bags of concrete and 10 panels). We no longer buy any lumber from lowes.
Becareful and look over any lumber you buy. Another point when we were selecting are 4x 4 x12 posts some of the posts were damaged and a sales rep total us someone return post they bought over a year ago and never used !

Very unhappy customer

Kaelynsmommy is correct. You didn't even bother to come to the store or call GE Money Bank instead you just paid it off. Sometimes people make mistakes and your account wasn't put on deferrment. A simple phone call would have fixed things.

Lowe's abusive

Lowe's treatment of contractors who subcontract service and installation from Lowe's is abominable. These contractors provide services that Lowe's employees are not capable of providing due to lack of training and they turn significant profit for Lowe's HIW Inc.

The contractors are rewarded for this by being forced to satisfy middle managers who have no training in the task at hand, but clearly have been threatened to drive up profit margins or receive consequences. Lowe's managers make every concession to please the customer and pass the costs onto the contractor. These concessions aren't made because the customer was 'right', rather because the manager has minimal experience with the service or installation job in dispute and no idea how to troubleshoot the problem. The contractor is forced to pay or lose details (aka jobs). Losing these details usually means downsizing the company or taking a staggering pay cut, so the contractor obliges and takes a loss. These losses are heart wrenching when you're talking about a small company that's barely staying above water in difficult economic times.

I live 0.5 miles from a Lowe's store and I consider it a last resort for my home improvement needs because the situation outlined above sickens me. It's criminal to siphon money from small contractors rather than properly mediating a dispute. I've seen the stock market and it's quite clear to me that Lowe's has the resources to mediate these disputes, but it's cheap, fast, and quickly shuts up the complaining customer if you just take money out of the laborers' pockets and hand it back to the customer.

I am one person and I can't change Lowe's, but there are a few things I can do. First, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS tell me friends, family, and neighbors who want quality services and installation to purchase directly from small stores and contractors. Stores like Lowe's depend on squeezing the middle man to make a buck, not high quality work, word of mouth, or repeat customers. Second, REFER THE HUSTLERS TO LOWES, if someone wants work done around their house and quality is less important than getting $500 knocked off the estimate because the contractor was 10 minutes late, then Lowe's is where they should be. I hate to see decent tradesmen deal with stupidity like that and Lowe's has teams of barely trained employees who can handle those phone calls. Third, POST THIS ON THE INTERNET, it won't do much because there's already plenty of bad press out there for Lowes. However, Lowe's has already shown us that they have no conscience or ethics, so I guess bad press is my only tool for motivation.

My experience with Lowe's Interior Design and contracting was literally a nightmare. Not only was it expensive, it was poorly supervised with non-existent communication from the installation manager without my contact the corporate office. In total, I had to contact the corporate office on seven occasions due to contractor issues: poor craftsmanship, inexperienced and unsupervised crew, no timeline for completion of the project and work not completed but paid for...[Lowe's required payment in advance to take advantage of their financing]. Lowe's was to install a kitchen floor and previously purchased custom cabinets and drywall a master and small guest bath. The project began mid December 2014. The contractor was off site 90% of the time due to personal problems. Electrical work that the contract, supposedly a certified electrician, agreed to complete was done by a crew member who was not certified and who caused multiple electrical issues requiring me to contact an electrician to repair the damage. The project went untouched for a month then I would contact the installation manager and still nothing. The crew left my house without cleaning up any mess. They left lights on and the thermostat turned up high. Loews installation management never once came to visit the site to check on progress or check on the complaints I made or to do a final walk through. The project was finally complete in October 2015. The house is only 1329 sq ft, , so we are not talking the size of the Taj Mahal here, the rooms are relatively small. The contractor was contrary and disregarded my instructions and my conversation with the Loews installation manager left me feeling like I was being a crank and the contractor was not questioned about my complaints. The kitchen/laundry floor looks acceptable and the cabinets were installed OK, but there were gaps and the breakfast bar top was lose. I hired a contractor after Loews left to finish their shoddy work. So I am left with a huge amount that I am paying Lowes [fortunately at a lower rate]. Never again.

I deliver to Lowes stores in Texas. The receiving dept seems to be filled with people that want to put off getting the job done. We that deliver, work hard to get the product to the stores on time. Only to be to be told with a bad attitude to sit and wait when we get there. I think it should be considered to take care of the ones that take care of you.

The statement that was made is totally true. We (installer) had a customer that told us she was going to get things from Lowes for free. She was right but it came at the contractors paying for it. The contractor was working hand in hand with the home owner doing things the way they wanted. ( the only the is things should have been more in writing) the the customer turned to Lowes and told the store this is not what she wanted. The store then bends over to change to change things at the cost to the installer. Also when the PSI at the stores makes a mistake the installer again has to pay.

I ordered a special order patio door from the Lowe's in Mebane NC on May 15th 2011. The tenative delivery date was to be May 30th or before. It is now June 24th and I still have NO door! The installer came to my house today, pulled in the driveway, asked did I want a Patio Door, when I said "Yes" he said they put the wrong door on his truck and he would need to check on it. 8 hours later I called Lowes myself and was told "someone will look into it..." This is a poor way to conduct business and I will alert everyone that I know that Lowes and especially Lowes of Mebane does not deliver when promised or even a month later but they will be glad to take your money!

Lowe's bath vanity

We ordered a custom bathroom vanity at Lowes on Coleman rd, San Jose Ca.
Vanity arrived (late of course) and was 18" depth instead of the standard 21" depth. Several calls with Lowes resulted in the chain refunding the cost of the vanity and ordering the correct vanity for us.
In exchange for the aggravation and the delay in the bathroom (~5 weeks and counting) remodel we would receive a free vanity.
OK - that is a least trying.
BUT WAIT - new vanity arrived. This one was the correct depth, BUT WAS FOR A DOUBLE SINK - NOT THE SINGLE WE OEDERED!
I'm disgusted now - contracter is disgusted - don't know how Lowes can fix this now.

Lowe's false addvertising

I have been a customer of Lowes for years. They say they have the lowest prices. Today I went to lowes to buy some 4in. pipe for gutter drains. With money in short supply now a days I compared prices before going to the store. I found the pipe cheaper at a Home Depot in Hickory, about 50 miles away.

When you go into a lowes store, (West Jefferson, NC) does it not say on that big sign that they guarantee the lowest prices? After being in the store for almost an hour waiting to get what I needed. (because in wasn't on the shelf) I finally question the checkout about the price. He calls the so called manager. He said that it was only within a 30 mile radius. Well, in this area, theres nothing with in 40 miles to compare to! A few local builder supplies, thats it. The manager was a real dick about it and defended the store.

Its funny that when you try to summit a complaint to lowes on there web site that they have there own set questions, and you can't leave any comment of your own.

I guess the rich mans motto will never change. ### the poor! Sorry but this is just the facts.

Do not shop a lowes! I will never step foot in the store again!

Lowe's smells of urine and hot

We installed Syn Lawn that we bought for our 3 small dogs in late October 2010. from Lowes. We were told by Lowe's that it was a great product if you had dogs. We installed this product in our vacation home. The area we live in we can't grow grass because of water restrictions. This winter we've had lots of rain and snow. We've been here for 2 weeks and our Syn Lawn is too hot for our dogs and reeks of urine. I've tried to wash it off when the dogs use it, but it doesn't help. Note: Our dogs are, 1 - 8lbs, 1 - 2.5lbs and 1 - 5.5lbs. This products is super expensive and we've only had it for a VERY short time. Worried about what the summer will be like when it really hot. Lowes has been trying to contact Synlawn in Van Nuys, CA, but they won't respond.

how about this one. Our synlawn was installed by synlawn "professional installers". We have had it just over two years and we provided the installers with the reccomended product that the salesman in the Albuquerque office suggested we get. My backyard smells horrible in the summer and my two dogs have difficulty walking on it in the summer. DO NOT use this in hot desert climates.

how about this, my synlawn was installed by a SYNLawn professional install team and i paid $4, 665 for the installation techniques, two months later i have weeds growing through synlawn. i called and Matt Price of synlawn told me by email that clover is blown in and grown from top down so hand pick it or use round up. what weeds are not blown in and germinated from top? when you synlawn and lowes advertise warranty and no maintenance synlawn, did you tell customers weeds like clover can grow through synlawn, when that happens, please hand pick them or use round up? this is ridiculous. the roots are under synlawn, i can't pull the roots out. if i have to use round up, why pay thousands of dollars to install synlawn. this is only after 2 months, imagine what happens after a year when the warranty is out, i will be happy to share pictures with those who are interested in synlawn, i have never seen this with my neighbors who used other artificial lawn. clovers are growing in the middle of lawn, plus all other types of weeds growing along the perimeter which Matt expects but i was never told that before I paid.

We are sorry to learn that you are having odor issues with your SYNLawn. Since your project was not installed by a SYNLawn professional install team but rather installed as a DIY project, it is most likely due to the installation techniques that you are having issues with odor. When SYNLawn does a professional installation, we not only prepare the sub-base to ensure proper drainage, but it is also advised we to use an odor reducer as part of that installation process. Lowe's was absolutely correct in that all of our products are pet friendly and nationwide, about 75% of our customers own dogs and we rarely are presented with odor issues.

What is really comes down other not being able to ensure your sub-base was prepared properly for optimum drainage, is a maintenance issue. When you have dogs, especially more than one, there is regular cleaning that is required. If the urine is left to sit on the turf without regular rinsing, which is what allows the urine to drain, then the uric acids from the dog urine do not accumulate and cause odor issues. As far as your concerns about heat, we very rarely receive complaints from the thousands of customers nationwide that have purchased SYNLawn specifically for their pet area. We recognize that just as other surfaces can get hot in the direct sun, this can too. However, a quick rinse with your garden hose will cool it down quickly and certainly enough for your dogs to enjoy.

Lowe's master forge grill

Hi,

I have submitted a complaint already over 2 weeks ago for master forge and sumitted to the BBB. Not one person has contacted me from Master Forge which makes me realize they really do not have any concern for their customers and could care less that after less than a year of use the product is faulty. Since I bought this from Lowe's I'm hoping someone will care enough at that company to make ammends.I purchased a gift for my husband last Memorial day, spending 500 dollars at Lowe's for a Master Forge grill. In my last complaint I provided all of the grill specifics so that if Master Forge was concerned they would be able to easily provide replacement parts. However, no one seems to care. I would hope that I get a phone call or in the VERY LEAST an email from these people to find out why I am so frustrated with their products. My family always buys MasterForge grills which is why I was so quick to spend that amount of money for my husband. Unfortunately it fell VERY short of expectations. Multiple parts on the insde have rusted even though it remained covered. We cannot use it without covering the whole inside in foil. Not very fun for BBQ season. I wish I could express how dissapointed I am not just in the product but in the customer service. I called and spoke with people multiple times at MasterForge, first told, no problem they would ship out replacement parts. a month later...when I had no parts I called and they said there was no order for me. They sent me to the agents voicemail who promised this, and she never called back. SHOCKING!

I am horrified and will continue to post this on every consumer website until rectified

Lowe's piss-poor service and installation

My boyfriend and I went to Lowes in Lumberton, NJ on Friday night, May 6, 2011, to purchase a gas dryer and have it delivered and installed. We found a dryer we liked for a decent price, but the Lumberton store told us they were an electric only story, so they sent us to the Lowes in Maple Shade, which is a gas only store. We drove down there immediately. They didn't have the model we saw at the Lumberton store in stock and said it would be 7-10 days to have it delivered (the Lumberton store had told us 3-5 days.) But we picked out a similar model and arranged to have it installed that weekend, Sunday, May 8th. As we paid, we asked what time the dryer would be delivered. The check-out person told us "in the morning" but couldn't give us an exact window. On Sunday morning I called to ask what time it would be delivered. The phone rang for several minutes before someone finally answered and told us "10 to 2". My boyfriend and I had to be at a mother's day barbecue at 3. We waited and waited, and finally at 2:20 I called them to try to figure out what was going on. Nobody could give us any details. Finally talked to a manager who said we were scheduled for 3-5, and had no idea who had told us 10-2 or why he'd told us we had that window. He also said we were supposed to have received a call the night before to confirm our appointment and tell us the window of time we were scheduled for. We never received that call. I finally left for the barbecue while my boyfriend stayed home to wait for the installers to arrive. He finally texted me at 4:30 to say they had finally arrived. And then called me around 5 to tell me they couldn't find the gas shut-off and that we'd have to hire a contractor to install it, even though we had paid Lowes for installation. The dryer is now sitting in our dining room, totally useless... Our next door neighbor lives in the same style condo as we do and had a gas dryer installed by Sears without any issues. Lowes has offered to come back out and try to investigate to see if they can find the gas shut-off and determine whether or not it's located somewhere they'd be allowed to touch it. I'm nervous for them to do anything with it considering they don't really seem to know what they're doing. Now we have to wait around for them to come back and pick the dryer up so we can return it and get a refund, as well as having to go through the whole ordeal of ordering, delivering and getting a dryer installed from someplace else--probably Sears since they seem to know how to install a gas dryer in a condo. This is such a frustration, I will never buy anything requiring installation from Lowes again.

1.) They never even gave us a delivery window until the morning of the delivery. And then they gave us the wrong window, which we found out later on after that window came and went without a delivery.
2.) We already HAVE a gas dryer hooked up. All they need to do is shut off the gas so they can install our new gas dryer. They couldn't find they gas shut-off, even though it's right there in the laundry room, and then told us even if they do find it, they may not be allowed to touch it.
3.) You're a ###tard [censored] who needs to learn to read, and probably shouldn't comment on anything if you have nothing remotely intelligent to add.
