Living Spaces Furniture unethical behavior - try to hide damage on furniture you are purchasing

July 2nd purchased a bed, mattress, and a night stand from Living Spaces in Rancho Cucamonga. The furniture was in the main area of the store, but since it was the last bed in stock, they had a small discount on the bed. Since they considered this an AS IS sale, two sales people inspected the items, and marked down a couple nicks on their Inspection Sheet. Since they needed time to breakdown the bed, we went to lunch then returned to have items loaded in our truck. The items were not yet ready, so my husband went inside to see what was going on. He happened to see the employee had loaded the foot board and the head board on a cart and was heading towards loading. He noticed the employee hit the items against the wall a couple of times. When he came out to advise me, they had the items getting ready to wrap in plastic for loading. My husband also noticed they had the foot board and the head board loaded on top of each other front to front vs back to back. He went over to check and the headboard on the bottom had a huge gouge out of the wood. I was very upset and went inside. Management was very useless and non chalant. The front desk girl was trying to help but didn't know what to do. When they asked the employee who loaded the items on the cart what happened, he said that when he took the price tag off of the headboard the gouge was already there. So I guess he thought it would be best to just put it on the bottom and wrap it up so we didn't notice it. One, either he did it and didn't want to fess up, or two, once he noticed it under the price tag he should have advised us vs. hiding it. Either way, very unethical behavior. With the AS IS, since the item was not marked on their Inspection Sheet, if I would have gotten it home without seeing it, we would have not been able to get our money back or return it. I am disgusted about the stores integrity, and also about the useless behavior of the manager to help us out. I submitted complaint to Living Spaces online, however, they are also non responsive. I paid with my debit card, so from Sunday to Wednesday, my money was not available to me. I had to wait for the credit to go through. My account did not credit right away. This was one of the most ridiculous purchases I ever tried to make.

Living Spaces Furniture refund of purchase discount and horrible customer services

I purchase a creamy gray sofa set on 5/29/2017 at the store in Mission Valley, San Diego.

The sofa set consists of five pieces which were delivered via three attempts/exchanges due to product defects. The final delivery was on 6/16/2017, when last two pieces came in with a slight color mismatch. I was offered three options: 1. return the full set, 2. order a set with darker color, and 3. keep the full set but with 10% purchase discount on the last two pieces ($141.16). Here started the story:

A. 6/16/2017: $141.16 purchase discount was promised.
B. 6/24/2017: I called customer services to see what was going on because I didn't receive any information about the refund. I was told that the refund was in the form of store credit. Then I asked the associate to put it back to my credit card which I used to buy the sofa. Still no confirmation of any sort (email, phone call, etc.).
C. 6/30/2017: I called again to check the status because I still hadn't received the money or any message from Living Spaces. The associate told me he would email accounting to find out and get back to me. The associate also told me that it may take my credit card company a month to post the money to my account. That is BS, I told him. Still, no message afterwards.
D. 7/6/2017: I called again and was ready to escalate. But the associate sounded so considerate and so serious about getting to the bottom of the issue. I decided to give her another chance to talk to accounting and to send me some information about what was going on. She specifically promised to make sure someone will contact me. No, nothing came back!
E. 7/13/2017: I called and was determined to escalate and to report to Better Business Bureau. The associate told me there was a misunderstanding about the refund and nothing had been done to process the refund. Wow. That is how Living Spaces does business! She wanted to understand AGAIN why there was a refund. I was furious. Not her fault but couldn't trust her anymore! She actually went to talk to her manager and promised me to take care of the issue immediately. I had enough! I insisted talking to her manager. The manager immediately processed the refund and an email confirmation was in my email box instantly!

The moral of the story: escalate immediately, if you ever encounter any issues with Living Spaces. Don't trust those gatekeeping associates.

Living Spaces Furniture beyond poor quality product/incompetent customer service

Stay away from Living Spaces. Frustrations never ends with this store. Ordered a pair of accent chairs. One was delivered with obvious damage to the fabric. Contacted their customer service and they agreed to replace the chair. Twice, they've been sending damaged replacement chairs that we've been rejecting. Obviously, they have no quality assurance in place as the quality of items in the store is different from what's delivered. Chances are you'll be charge with a 25% stocking fee for returning an item.

It's been three months and still no resolution. Btw, I discussed this issue with a warranty manager and we agreed that I can go the store to pick a ready made item and that I will simply get an exchange. I came back to Living Spaces Scottsdale (+/- 20 miles away) and they would not honor the exchange as the warranty manager did not document our discussion per customer service manager. What a waste of time and never again.

Living Spaces Furniture 2 piece deegan loveseat and sofa set

I came into the store and purchased the sofa sets under the progressive loan program on 6/18/17. I made a down payment of $57 and my delivery date was scheduled for 7/4/17. I came in 6/23/17 and purchased the sofa sets in full and was told my sofas would still be delivered on 7/4. Today I came in the store to add a dining table set to the Progressive program I previously qualified for, with the hopes it could be added to my current order. Upon purchase I was told my sofa set order was cancelled or my sofas were in stock and given to another customer. Now I must wait for the sofas to be made and placed back in stock. This is a huge inconvenience to me as I have recently moved and have no furniture and was looking forward to my delivery on 7/4. I don't understand why I was not told I wouldn't receive my sofas when I was in the store on 6/23. Do to your company's mistake I am forced to cancel summer entertaining plans I'd previously made because I removed my old furniture with the intention of having my new sofas in my home. Order no. SO-[protected], cust no. C-[protected]. I would appreciate a response, thank you. Meichele McGriff.

Living Spaces Furniture unnecessary payment claims from you and horrible customer service

I ordered a sofa cum bed from Living Spaces last year in May 2016, and the guys who came in did not even try to enter the sofa into our premise and said the sofa cannot enter our house, and took back the sofa to their place. They never called me back for two days about anything after that! Would they refund the money back or would they try to get the item again.. nothing!

I called them after two days and they they do not have any information. My husband and I called multiple number of time to inform them that we do not have the item and should not be charged $1200 as we do not have the sofa with us.

The first time the customer service rep (after 1 hour of holding over phone) confirmed and said we do not have to pay anything and said she has closed the account. Still we got statements from Synchrony Bank (affiliated with Living Spaces for Payments) and we were not sure why. We called Syncrony Bank again and this same thing repeated FOUR TIMES! I told them we would have to complain if this happens again as it takes a lot of time from our school time and work and we do not have the SOFA anyway! Why are we being contacted when the sofa never even entered our premise.

Finally, when we spoke around October, the Customer Rep CONFIRMED that the account is closed for sure and we do not have to pay anything

AFTER A WHOLE ONE YEAR, I noticed that Synchrony Bank was charging interest on the amount and I had to pay $400+ to them! They said the $218 is for restocking fee + additional $200 is interest.

It baffled me when I heard they have been charging us interest and said we have t pay $400 after they confirming that the account is closed! If they were charging, why did they confirm and tell us the account was closed? Any customer would get into their routine once they hear that the account is closed and they do not have to do anything.

Why should I pay $400 when
A) I do not have the SOFA
B) Your people did not even try to get the SOFA and just took into Back
C) The company kept charging us $1200 for nearly 5 months until we repeatedly called Synchrony Bank
D) Their REP CONFIRMED that the account is closed and we do not have to do anything.

I really think this is harassment of their customers.

I would request that action is taken on them:
a) so that they Living Spaces and Synchrony Bank have better communication,
b) They do not contact customers unnecessarily once the account is closed,
c) and I do not want to pay my hard earned $400 for a furniture that never even entered my premise

Living Spaces Furniture custom couch and loveseat

Purchased many pieces from Living Spaces (complete Master Bedroom with King Sized Adjustable beds), Queen Sized Bed, TV Entertainment Center, Recliner. Based on overall satisfaction of these items, we ordered a custom sofa and love seat. After having 30 days the couch started drooping in middle making it very uncomfortable to sit in. We then noticed the cushions were all different sizes. Called customer service (numerous times) got the standard response we can send someone out to look at it for $99 (really charge me for a bad quality product), I have escalated and re-escalated and have yet to receive any call back from Living Spaces, I find this unacceptable but also a cultural norm based on other complaint boards reviewed. I want Living Spaces to come take the couch and love seat give me store credit and my wife and I will find a floor or in-stock model we would be happy with

Living Spaces Furniture defective couch leg

Purchased this couch months ago and have made numerous phone calls and emails yet nothing has been resolved. They say they'll call back and I never hear from them. We even payed extra for a warranty and still my experience as a customer has been nothing but a headache. The couch leg or section of the couch was made poorly/defective and it was impossible for us to attach the legs ourselves. After multiple calls they send someone to attach the legs. Upon further investigation one leg could only partially attach because there was a huge gap. For as much money as a spent we should have a perfect couch. And we should also not be faced with wasting our time trying to get them to do there jobs! They say the will fix it but nothing gets resolved. We spent a lot of money on our couch and feel like we will never repurchase from them again.

Living Spaces Furniture thad power reclining sofa noise

I purchased the Thad power reclining sofa -took delivery on 4/21. After about a week, I noticed a tearing sound whenever I use either side to recline. I was gone on a business trip for about 3 weeks. After I returned I started using the couch again and the noise persisted and got louder. I called Living Spaces and they had me upload photos. Then they called me back and told me they wanted $99 to send someone out to look at the sofa. It's a $2K sofa with tax and delivery. When you sell a higher end product, the customer base will hold you to a higher standard. That means I paid $2K and expect the couch to be perfect. Don't try to sell high end furniture if you can't handle the expectations of that kind of clientele. Stick to competing with Ikea.

Living Spaces Furniture unethical behavior

The furniture and accessories at Living spaces are quite nice. Very stylish and well priced. However, that is the end of the good news. Setting up delivery was HORRIBLE. I made a purchase on May 5 for over $800 and the staff said delivery would be June 2. At that time, the staff was very casual about the delivery and said LS would contact me a few days before. I have dealt with Pottery Barn, Ballard Design and many others and delivery has always been worked out satisfactorily. Dealing with LS about delivery was a NIGHTMARE. THEY CALL AT 4:00 the day before delivery and said it was set for June 2, from 8:00-3:00. I explained to them that this was not going to work because I had to go for a Cancer treatment that morning and would be home by noon. I asked if it could be delivered that afternoon, the response was NO. I said, maybe we could reschedule for another day. They responded, NO UNLESS YOU PAY ANOTHER $99 delivery charge.
Well, this company deserves an F for customer service. They show absolutely no effort to try and work with the customer.

Like all other major furniture retailer, they should call several day in advance to set up an appointment. Asking someone to make a firm commitment on May 5 for a June 2 delivery is ridiculous. When I called customer service about the delivery they were NOT AT ALL HELPFUL AND OFFERED NO ALTERNATIVES. THERE WAS NO ABILITY TO PROBLEM SOLVE.

BOTTOM LINE-Stay away from Living Spaces. There are plenty of good quality furniture retailers, like Ballard Designs or Wayfair (great quality, prices and customer service).

Living Spaces Furniture couches/warranty

So we purchased 2 couches from living spaces last year. The couches started falling apart the springs popping through the cushions the wood exposed just horrible. Anyways we filed a claim and got no response after about a month we contacted living spaces. They told us that they we needed to send pictures then wait 72 hours and someone would call us. We sent pictures 5 days no call so we call back and they scheduled someone to come out. The person came out and said the couch is not repairable he explained when you buy furniture that's under 500$ it's not built well. He then told my husband someone will call in 72 hours to give him the offer of what our furniture is worth. Nobody called once again so we called. We were told that the claim is being denied for unsanitary conditions. They deemed it unsanitary because there is dog hair around and on the furniture. We have a German Sheppard they shed hello it's a Dog. The dog doesn't go on our couches. My husband said wait a minute the couch is falling apart the gram is broke the mechanisms the cushions flipped and twisted and your denying the claim because I own a dog that sheds. They said well it says in the contract no dog hair! I could understand if we were filling for fabric but that's not the case. You mean to tell me dog hair broke our couches! I will be speaking with news stations and with a lawyer to see if we have a case. Who knows maybe class action suit with all these denied claims sounds like they are stealing to me!

I also have had a similar instance with Living Spaces and want to know if it was ever resolved as I would be happy to join in the class action lawsuit.

We have had a similar instance with Living Spaces, as did my parents. We've been dealing with this since March and still nothing has happened-not even a follow up phone call- it's always us calling them. We are contacting an attorney and seeing about possibly filing a class action lawsuit.

Living Spaces Furniture bed and delivery

Living spaces was awful to do business with. Purchased and bed and dresser/nightstand set. They set delivery time to 8 am-12 noon. 12:30 pm we get a call that they will drive at 3:30 pm. they show up and they said they did not have the correct hardware to set up the bed. Rescheduled for delivery later that night, 6 pm- midnight. Basically waited the entire day for them. Truck shows up at 8:30 pm and they don't have it on their work order to DELIVER and assemble a bed, they have a work order to PICK UP a bed. THEY NEVER DELIVERED OR SET UP THE BED. call customer service. AWFUL attitude. basically didn't care and said with complete apathy, " fine we will take it all back if you are unhappy". NOT EVEN TRYING TO RESOLVE. so i ask to speak to a manager, and her attitude is WORSE. lets see how long it takes them to refund the purchase on my CC. awful awful company.

Living Spaces Furniture sofa sleeper bed

Went to Living Spaces got a sleeper sofa. It arrived on time. I went to sit on it and it smelled so strong of chemicals I got an instant headache. I called the next morning. They said air it out. 6 days later still strong. My 96 year old Mom lives with us and has a lung disease. She can't go in the living room. I submitted a claim and the Warranty Mgr. called and said they would exchange it. But if I took the exchange I would get only store credit if that one smelled. Since I was on my 6th day of the 7 day "get your money back" I chose to get the refund. I was then informed it would cost me $99 to have them pick it up. So, basically, I am now out $198.00. $99 for delivery and $99 to pick it up. I am having to pay to have a couch picked up, that they sold me, and it is defective and can't be used. They have lost a customer for life. I will never use them again. I will tell all my family friends to do the same. This is awful customer service. To charge someone $99 to pick up this sofa and it was not our fault it couldn't even be sat on is unbelievable.

Living Spaces Furniture mattresses/sofa

I purchased a sofa and two mattresses for my daughter and me. They were great for a week or two, after that the itching and rashes started. It's so bad for my daughter she had to be put on prednisone. I'm assuming the chemicals they use on the furniture is really toxic, either that or my daughter and I are badly allergic to their furniture. If you have skin allergies, do not buy from here.

Living Spaces Furniture sofa sleeper damaged my hardwood floor

we went to use the bed in the sofa and we were not able to put it back in. We noticed the arm of the bed was not attached. I purchased the insurance package and contacted them. They requested pictures and I noticed the broken arm had scratched my floors. I sent pictures of the arm and floor. They said they would schedule someone to come out. I had to call them back and finally someone was assigned. They came and fixed the arm but said he would report the damage to the floor and someone would contact me within 72 hours. No one did. I called them and they said the delivery company was responsible even though I explained it was their faulty furniture. Again they said they needed to send someone out because the claim was not entered correctly. Again no one called and I called them. Someone called and they said they don't handle this its living spaces and someone would call. No one called. I called them and basically they continued to not know who was responsible and no one called or came. I finally talked to a manager who had someone come take more pictures and report. No one followed up. I called and continued to get the run around. Finally they said we handle cases like this internally and there is one lady "Jackie" who processes these claims. No one will transfer me to her and she is conveniently never available or out of the office. My initial call to them was in November. I still have not had my claim processed or someone call me to resolve. I
Living Spaces is a joke and do not care about how they treat customers. They get your money (over priced even for the so called quality products which are clearly NOT) and then don't care if they really help you from then on. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

Living Spaces Furniture gift card no call back

I will start off by telling you...you have lost a client for life. I purchased furniture originally on President's day. I spent 2, 000.00 as part of my purchase that included a mattress that offered a gift card for later use of $300.00. Today 04/192017 I called cs and waited 10 minutes just to get a cs rep not at the store i need to call, are you serious. Lousy call. I am so upset. I went into the Van Nuys location on 04/15/2017 to use my gift card only to find out it had a zero balance. I was and did purchase a computer desk chair, order#SO-[protected]. I paid for the chair with a commitment from Andrew that he would call me back when he got to the bottom of the problem. it is now FOUR DAYS later and no results also no one was available to take my call...THIS IS CALLED SCREENING CALLS very unprofessional. I want my gift card restored and the charges removed from my credit card and placed on the gift card. I am being charged interest on my credit card while I wait for a call back. This is unacceptable, fix the problem. Just so you know once the charges are on the gift card I will not use the balance. I will destroy the gift card. the gift card #[protected] my cell number is [protected]...I am beyond pissed and will tell all my clients

Living Spaces Furniture delivery and assembly of product

Hello on Friday, February 24th, 2017 I purchased a Full Size bed for my daughter and was told it could be delivered the following day between 6 pm and midnight. I agreed and paid the delivery charge. When the Driver's arrived at 10:40 pm they started assembling the bed and found the slats for the foundation were not the correct size. The Item is a Milton Panel Bed Product number 94662. I purchased Mattresses as well. I was given the option of refusing the merchandise, which I was told would result in a far longer delivery of new merchandise or accept the merchandise as is and call Customer Service on Sunday at 7 a.m. Well Customer service is not open till 10:00 am Arizona time and the process is the Rep send me a link to upload photos and someone would supposedly be getting back to me in 48 hours. Mind you I paid extra for the delivery and assembly of the Bed for that night. So I am now on night 3 with a defective un-assembled bed in my daughters room. I would like Living Spaces to refund me the Delivery/Assembly Charge and to rectify the slats that are not the correct size. I have yet to hear back from anyone. I feel this Company is very unprofessional and they really don't care about their Customers. If they really cared they would have followed up the following day as other companies do to check how the experience went and if there were any issues. I honestly believe if I just go to Home Depot and purchase these extra slats myself they could care less. I will never buy any products from them again. My experience has been very disappointing.

Living Spaces Furniture havana outdoor furniture. indoor sectional.

Have called in several times. Been on hold for several hours and still have not gotten anywhere. Took several pictures of defected items, have been told repeatedly that they would replace items. 2 weeks, then 4 weeks and now 7 weeks. It's a shame that a company like this, in 2017 exists. Warning to others! Stay away and spend your money on quality stuff that lasts from other vendors.

Living Spaces Furniture accent chair

We purchased several items from the Hawthorne, CA store. We also purchased extended warranty just in case? Well, Its has been a nite mare ever since. The accent chair has a 6 to 8 inch spilt on the right rear leg. I filed the complaint on 10/25/2016. I was STILL under warranty when I filed the claim. I sent in pictures, everything they ask of me I did. They sent out a technician to confirm yes the leg had a split in it. The technician said it will be about 2-3 weeks and either the leg will come to my home or they will replace the chair. Well guess what No leg, No Chair. I called today to inquire about process. Fernando told me the claim is being processed today? Really? I was floored! Today is 12/7/2016. I probably won't be a returning customer to living spaces from this day forth. Did I mention we spent over 3000.00 with this company...WE paid cash in full!

Living Spaces Furniture evan sofa

We ordered the Evan sofa from Living Spaces in Monrovia but were delivered the wrong sofa on July 14th. The delivery driver refused to take it back on the day of delivery, instead saying we had to set that up with the customer service. We instead went into the store but they could not fix it the next day, instead setting it up for Saturday, the 16th, with no problems. We even explained the reason for not wanting the sofa we got due to dogs! The delivery though did not show up! Called again, set up Sunday delivery but the driver refused to take the sofa because it had been in a house with dogs and it had hair on it, which of course it did because it had been sitting in a house with dogs for days. Called Living Spaces again - they said no, they would not take it back because, even though it was their fault, it had been in a house with dogs for days and was now considered dirty. This of course would not have happened if they had taken it right away like I asked. They refused to pay for a cleaning service to come fix it, saying it was our responsibility because we have the dogs. Even though the dogs were not on the sofa, as any dog owner knows, dog hair (and cat hair too) gets on everything. Barring leaving the house, there is no way the sofa could have no hair on it at all and plus it was already in the house with the dogs because they left it as such. Filing multiple claims now with courts, the BBB, and with our credit card companies. This is the worst customer service I've ever had from any company and, as one can see from the photos, the sofa is in pristine condition, with no hairs on it that can be seen and even still has the tag on it! Anybody want to buy this beautiful sofa?
