Please be aware, I can reasonably recommend that you DO NOT JOIN Life Style Fitness Clubs!
My husband Jeff and I joined the Pickerington area Life Style Fitness Center in September of last year. In January, my husband and I signed and dated the cancellation letter that was attached to our membership packet. I then took the letter to the fitness club and handed it to the employee behind the desk. He took my letter and told me to have a nice day. Done Deal! I THOUGHT my membership was cancelled.
What I needed to do, (BUT WAS NOT TOLD BY THE EMPLOYEE) was to come in to the gym and sign their computer pad to cancel my membership. A few months later I realized that Life Style was still taking money out of my checking account. After speaking several time with Jason, the Membership Manager about my cancelled membership and refunding my dues, one would think that my membership was cancelled. No, not according to Life Style. Jason, as nice as he was, did not tell me that I still needed to come in to and sign their computer pad in order for the membership to be cancelled. SO our membership continued!!
In June, I spoke to Life Style Corporate Office and asked them to please return my money and CANCEL my membership. Again, Done Deal, Right? NO! Yesterday July 13, six months after I went in to the fitness club and handed my cancelation letter to their Life Style employee, Life Style was still withdrawing money from my checking account!!
This afternoon I called Life Style's Corporate Office and spoke to a Customer Service Rep. From the start, she was extremely unprofessional, condescending and kept interrupting me. She stated everything was my fault and the their company has done nothing wrong. Then followed up with "THEY ARE NOT GOING TO REFUND OUR MONEY!!!" The Pickerington's Life Style Club, very politely said their that their hands are tied. At this point Jeff and I are out at least $500.
Since all this began, I have heard from several real-estate agents in our office that Life Style Fitness Clubs are having major problems staying in business. I now understand why and I wish I had known this BEFORE we joined .
