I purchased a four piece living room set which was the floor model from the St. Catharines Leon's store.. However, not being someone who EVER buys off the floor or shelf, I couldn't resist a fair price. My friend and I examined the pieces carefully "with a fine tooth comb" before purchase and there was nothing wrong except a couple of threads that could be just trimmed off. I was very pleased and excited. Shortly after having it delivered I noticed about a half inch hole in the faux leather (vinyl) near the end of the arm of the chair. The chair had been placed in the corner so I didn't notice it immediately. I have no children or adults living with me and there has been no one near the furniture to cause any damage. I have been given the run around since I reported this (I also purchased this so-called 5 year warranty). I was told it was the discontinued and no other available to exchange with. I went online and found a chair in Mississauga that they could have exchanged it with the one I had. They insisted that I wait until their technician comes to "fix" it. This could NOT be repaired back to a new condition but the fellow did try his best. It is right at the front of the arm and is lumpy and oh so noticeable. I have taken before and after photos of this. I am devasted at the lack of customer service and complete disinterest. It breaks my heart because I was living with one couch with holes that was purchased in 1960. This "new" set was supposed to be a dream come true and financially the last furniture I'll be able to afford in my lifetime! It has been a nightmare. I am completely distraught as I was told the only thing they can do is give me a $50 credit in the store! What?! I will NEVER buy as much as a vase from this company again not to mention set foot in there. My friends and family will know of my experience and treatment as well as the newspaper. I have never been treated so horribly in all my years as a consumer. I am disabled and this is definitely detrimental to my health. So much so that I've had a friend help me deal and try to resolve this. All I wanted was what I paid for. Is that asking too much?

SKOR... my "disability" (health problems) are none of your business. How this has affected my health is also none of your business. I do not know how this damage occurred. All I know is I did not do it. When I purchased it, I examined the pieces carefully. (Hence the expression "fine tooth comb".) How many times do I have to check things when I believed that they would take good care of my purchase? The delivery was supervised by myself and a friend and there was no place this damage could have been done in my home. There were no problems and I was so pleased with the handling of the furniture by the delivery men and the little extra care they took by laying down some sort of material for them to walk on in the house beforehand. The delivery men put the pieces where I wanted and because the chair was in a corner I didn't notice this right away. It was just a little over a week. I am an honest woman and unfortunately too trusting. I do not need the harassment from people like you who only want to interfere into something that is none of your business. My original post was done to warn others and hopefully bring this to the attention of the company. This has been accomplished, but not over. I sincerely hope this has a happy ending. If it does, I certainly will post that.

SKOR... Hiding behind an alias is easy to do when you are a troublemaker. I am not defending myself to you nor do I need sympathy. The post was not addressed to you and you have no idea what the circumstances are in this case. My communications and explanations belong to Leons. Go take your angry self and bother someone else and leave me alone. This is between myself and the company. I've run into people like you who have nothing better to do than get other people upset by putting their mouth into something they know nothing about. I have been honest with the company and have done my best to relate everything to them in order to settle this fairly and justly. Like I said, I will post the outcome. Now go away and do something useful with yourself.

After reading a couple of your remarks to other people and calling one woman dumb and insinuating same of another who is not able to spell correctly, I hope you ARE booted off of here for your abusive and argumentative behaviour. As I stated before, this was a complaint posted on a complaint board in which I evoked communication and hopefully good customer service from the company for which it was intended. I choose the high road here and refuse to comment any further on your nasty and insulting remarks aimed at someone you know nothing about. So if you continue with this barrage of insane and personal degradations, I will report you to a moderator as you suggest.

Wow, what a response.
Good luck and God Bless you and the people who live around you. And I mean that sincerely - no sarcasm.

"SKOR... Hiding behind an alias is easy to do when you are a troublemaker. " ...please explain how this statement doesn't apply to YOU and YOUR actions.

"I am not defending myself to you nor do I need sympathy. The post was not addressed to you and you have no idea what the circumstances are in this case. My communications and explanations belong to Leons."... then why did you post this publicly?

"Go take your angry self and bother someone else and leave me alone. This is between myself and the company. I've run into people like you who have nothing better to do than get other people upset by putting their mouth into something they know nothing about."...you are upset because I keep calling out your inconsistencies. You have yet to answer a single one intelligently...yet, you had SO much to post when you thought you wouldn't be questioned. Your defensiveness speaks volumes. I find it ironic you refer to OTHER people as being "angry" - do you even read what you post?

"I have been honest with the company and have done my best to relate everything to them in order to settle this fairly and justly. Like I said, I will post the outcome. Now go away and do something useful with yourself."... please explain who you think you are to order people away from a public message board. If you have a problem with my post - report it to a moderator. Otherwise, part of being an emotionally healthy ADULT is realizing you are not in charge of other people.

If your "disability' (health problems) and how this affected your health is none of my business, and you "don't need harassment from people like (me) who only want to interfere into something that is none of (my) business)", then don't broadcast your disability and health to the world when complaining about a chair. You were just fishing for sympathy.

If you (and your friend) supervised the delivery yourself (a detail you didn't mention in your original post), you clearly did a poor job - as you would both need to be blind to miss a hole that size on a vinyl chair. No delivery men can bring in a chair in a home, concealing an existing hole that size the entire time. But how lucky and convenient for them - you just "happened" to ask them to place it in a corner, where you had no chance to see the hole before they left.

Since the chair was placed in a corner where "you didn't notice it right away", what led to you notice the hole over a week later?

How would Leon's know the damage wasn't done by you?
It looks like the hole and scratches are on the outer arm of the chair - like someone scraped it against the wall while moving it. Damage to furniture is supposed to be reported within 48 hours of delivery - I am confused as to how "My friend and I examined the pieces carefully "with a fine tooth comb" before purchase and there was nothing wrong .." yet you didn't think to examine the pieces once they were brought into your home. Had you noticed the damage then and there, you could have refused to accept the defective item - and eliminate any question as to who did the damage.
As for "I am disabled and this is definitely detrimental to my health" - how did this impact your health? Or disability?
