LensCrafters error by lens crafters re: account

I purchased two sets of eyeglasses at the above business. Unbeknownst to me, they opened up a Lenscrafters Account and charged part of my purchase to the account.
Subsequently, they turned the bill over to GE Collections service, which was sending invoices to the wrong name and address. In addition, when my Social Security number is entered by GE, another person's name is shown. I am having trouble clearing up my credit history and am greatly concerned that my social security number has been compromised.
Please help with any suggestions for resolution.
Thank you

I wholeheartedly agree--Lenscrafters has gone downhill--way downhill in the past few years. Here is my experience in Albuquerque, NM.

My husband ordered glasses 3 weeks ago which never came in. Whenever we called to inquire about them, we were told "Oh, they sent two left lenses, they sent the wrong lenses", and on and on. So, today we went to get our money back. The person who waited on us, a "supervisor", was pathetic. She offered no apology or explanation for the poor service. Instead, in her attempt to come off as "authoritative and in charge", she came off as rude, uneducated about proper customer service and down right snotty.

It did come to mind that perhaps this woman's I am superior to you, nasty demeanor was an attempt to cover up some shortcomings such as maybe she just isn't "supervisor" material at all, and maybe she should not be employed in the customer service sector.

LensCrafters fraud and cheating

LensCrafters sucks----that is the lesson to be learned here. My husband has been working for LensCrafters for a long time and keeps getting the shaft for various reasons.

Let's talk about paid-time off. It's September and I took a week off in the earlier part of the year. I wished to take a PTO day last week due to inclement weather that passed through town and closed the whole city down. In fact, everyone put in for a PTO day. When I got my check, it was short by a day. So was everyone else's. The company claims that nobody can take a PTO day until it is earned. This is interesting because this policy changed sometime over the last two years, but the company failed to send out a memo or anything. Evidently, everyone in the company was raising hell, and the company HR reps basically said, 'too bad.' So, at the end of the year, when the busiest season rolls around, guess what? All of the LensCrafters employees will be on vacation because they have EARNED IT BY THEN. Ha ha. This company sucks. I've never heard of such a thing. If you have 80 hours of PTO, you have 80 hours! No ifs ands or buts!
What a joke.

On top of that, the company keeps laying off people because it says they are in financial troubles, but the company execs are still flying high in their company jets and are partying like rock stars. Meanwhile, hard working employees like myself have fought tooth and nail to get a decent pay raise. In fact, last year they gave me less than a TEN CENT pay raise. What an insult. If I wasn't in school right now, I'd quit. Pathetic.

Here we go folks... For those of you who think it is so easy to have HR policy actually enforced in a franchise retail location, you are obviously, out of touch with the real boots on the ground. When did you last make less than $50k, if you get commission and overtime, with an understanding boss. If you were really lucky, while being paid that rate, you possibly worked in a state that protects employees. HR is never there to help the employee, it is a concept and practice to limit the financial and public relations liability that could be caused by a middle manager or above, who are usually out of touch. I would rather spend my money (which is considerable for my vision needs) at Costco because they actually have a great pay policy and benefits plan, employees can unionize if they choose, they are paid above the living wage rate, oh, and they will fix your glasses for life. If companies naturally behaved and responded in a reasonable manner (rather than always valuing the immediate profit incentives, ) HR and Unions would not be needed. People make the difference, even when the company is rightfully in need of protection. Point is, the majority of these poorly crafted, unprofessional, and rude/insulting/demeaning opinions on how managers get paid or not, and the conditions that the original poster expressed; show how white and entitled you are. I pray you never have to worry about your work situation, or being mistreated by a person with power over you. Karma, she is a pip, and you will probably be abandoned in an extremely economical nursing homes, taken care of by people who are paid a fraction of what you probably tip on a 30 dollar check. It will irk you to your end, hopefully, they have plenty of porridge and wire hangers, so they can remind you that having all the money in the world means nothing. Hopefully they have a hang up, like you, about people who don't know how the REAL real world works. All the 401k's and stocks in the world, will have no power, when your ungrateful children have power of attorney over you. You will also be considered a sidelined invalid, who was stupid enough to not plan for long term care, or was ever compassionate or considerate to another human being. I have been a unique and ground breaking case for my Doctor of Ophthalmology. While he is very wealthy from his excellent work on me as a child, for the following 19 years and my results, as well as the rest of his hard work for his patients, I would pay what ever it took to see him. I will never spend another dollar with LensCrafters, especially seeing the responses from these obviously cowardly managers.

Lux took away the 401 because they didn't wan't to pay it out in an effort to show a profit and this came right from the GM of Pearle Vision Seth Mcglocklin, maybe you heard of Pearle Vision the company that Lux bought out and is selling little by little, As for you telling someone Thank God you no longer work for us? what are you part of Management? Some of these comments are just a waste of space.. seriously. I think the answer is clear here, they are not managers in the system, they are disgruntled associates that should have never been hired. Thank god for a company that took away the 401K match, and left 5000 people employed in an economy where people are losing their jobs left and right!
Lux still held its foundation One Sight ( the donation of 1M pairs of eye wear, and 40 people 6 times a year deployed to foreign countries to help the world see) Damn! The nerve right?

Thank GOD you no longer work for us.. You'd never survive in the new culture anyway. You may have heard about it? Its a Culture of ACCOUNTABILITY.

If Luxotica would treat their employees right and not as a disposeable person, no one would ever leave. While they do have great benefits, being treated with respect also goes a long way. I have worked at lenscrafters for 5yrs. and still cannot belive how they treat their employees. If they want to get rid of you they either transfer you to another location or start finding fault with your performance. Stop hiring people off the street & getting rid of the people who know what they are doing just to pay a lower wage. Some of you will say if you don't like it find another job, unfortunately in this economy now is not the time to try to find another job. Lenscrafters could be a great place to work but the stress they put us under gets worse every day. They have raised the price of glasses so much that they have now driven away the loyal customers. All we hear is "you are to high & I'm going somewhere else". I am supposed to sell them 2 pr of glasses( which can at times total up to $1, 000 sometimes even after insurance ) with a smile on my face. People are losing their jobs & homes and don't have this kind of money. So how does LUX respond, they reduce our frame selection and leave us with crappy frames we can't sell or put a prog in( unless it's a short fit) yet they push the AVP. Bring back some decent frames and lower your prices & then maybe we could sell more glasses. Stop blaming our performance and do the right thing, TAKE RESPONSIBILTY FOR YOU ACTIONS!

ZOMG, you must be a noob. The Company has NOT laid anyone off of work. Now they just dont give you a raise for poor performance! , they take some away because you are NOT performing at a consistent level.
PTO is EARNED. LRN2 Read the Handbook you sign at the begining of your employment. I have worked for Lenscrafters for 9.5 years and have seen the sucess you can get from what YOU put in.

Don't blame the company for your short fallings or your not following up on YOUR PTO. Lrn2 Luxlink, all associates have the info to get onto it. Lrn2 read new policies and procedures. Any questions Talk with your GM or other Leadership team Members.

We cant read minds, if you have a question Ask it! No such thing as a Stupid Question or Stupid Answer. You have to communicate with us as in turn, we have to communicate with you.

As for pto and having to earn it - I hate to tell u - it was in memo form
As well as ALL over lux link ! did u ever look ?
Everything that is company wide will be there - now if u r one of those that needs a baby sitter and to be sat down and explained changes - that is another thing
As for NOT having it to use - many moons ago it did change to the accrual system with a policy saying you can at any time be 80 hrs in the hole - also that u can roll over up to 40 hrs from the prior yr - so based on that - DAM - u must always be out or always on vacation . ESP if u have been there for a long time as u state.

As for Lenscrafters execs - they do NOT fly on private jets !
If u knew anything - u would know this . Now lux execs may be differant however I am sure u r not talking about delceccio or his kids as well as lux higher ups - u said Lenscrafters folks and they do fly commerical

I know it sounds better when folks say "oh on their own jets " but this is so far from the truth

Hello fellow employees or by the time you read this my fellow ex employees. My GM told me today (in all confidence) that we will soon be told to look for a job. Not just me but all retail associates in the store. This is not her/his doing and to the best of my knowledge no one in my store received a low rating.

We are a $2, 000, 000 plus store that grew at the rate of over 20% for at least 5 years. Well that growth came to an end. We employees are going to bear the brunt of the “fix” the “fix” is not here yet but it is on the way.

We will be called in one by one and told to find a new job. To encourage us in that direction our hours will be cut from week to week. This will continue until we reach zero hours. Meanwhile new hires presumably young people with little to no optical experience will be brought in to replace us. I am not going to train them are you?

This in my GM’s opinion will allow Lenscrafters to hire for very little $$ and not have to pay benefits.

In addition in most states as you left the job instead of being laid off or terminated they will not even have to pay unemployment compensation.

When this happens to you request everything in writing including all of your reviews. Ask them for a letter of recommendation. Got performance records? You in the top ten percent in the region for months at a time like most of the people in my store. Request those performance records too. **** Right after you hire an attorney. ***** I repeat **** Hire an attorney. ***** I was at one time listed as being in the top ten percent in two stores at the same time in the same month. Yet I am scheduled to feel the axe. Not bragging but if it happens at my store no one is safe.

If you read this pass it on to everyone you work with.

Frankly I would not be so pissed if Lenscrafters would as they say in Texas, “Cowboy Up” and let us go with a shred of dignity by allowing us unemployment benefits.

It mystifies me how they want to do away with the people that make them the money. You hire someone off the street and how long will it take to get them up to speed? I know some people that have been with OTHER firms for years that cannot put a screw into a spring temple. There is a reason that it takes so long to become licensed. I am proud of the people I work with at Lenscrafters. They are as a whole much more intelligent than any other group I have been associated with. Wish I could say the same about upper management.

To the major shareholders of Luxottica sorry $10, 000 does not buy as much fuel for your boats and jets as it did a few years ago. SUCK IT UP!

LensCrafters crappy customer service

I purchased glasses from LensCrafters. After 8 months one of the nose pads broke off the frame. I was told they were unfixable and I needed to buy a new frame. After I paid for the frame, I was told I could take it to a jewelery repair shop and have it welded. But of course that was only at "temporary" fix. A week later I went back to inquire about my new frame. Lo and behold, it is now no longer available. So, I could now have the pleasure of purchasing a different frame AND new lenses for 50% off. HUH? So my $600 overpriced glasses are now going to cost me another $400. I do not have $1000 to spend on one pair of glasses that lasted only 8 months. They wanted to charge me $219 for a new frame, and of course at 50% off it came to $116. Then it would be another $300 for new lenses at their 50% off. I came home and found the exact same frame that they say is no longer available on a website for $113 with FREE shipping. So I guess now I can see why they can offer a 50% off replacement for the first year. Everything is marked up 100%. You know the company selling the frame for $113 is still making money, so LensCrafters is not losing a single penny by making you buy a replacement for their crappy shoddy frames. Not to mention that the frame from the website comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. Where is that at LensCrafters? Just one more tidbit of information they conceal to make more money. I am now looking into the possibility of a class action suit against them. I would have to wonder how many other customers they have ripped off when their frame breaks in the year and suddenly it becomes "unavailable" and now they have to purchase an entire new set of glasses.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS RIPOFF STORE! Tell anyone and everyone their guarantee is worthless!

Dude, you broke your glasses. You keep complaining about everything being overpriced, but I find it hard to believe that you couldn't fine a cheaper frame. It sucks that the frame is discontinued from their stock and you had to buy new lenses as well, but honestly, you should take better care of something that's so expensive if you don't want to pay to replace them. Nose pads don't just break off like that unless you're not taking care of them. If your heart was set on the frame you found online, you should have purchased it online and gotten the lenses 50% off. OR you should have asked them to price match the frame with the 50% discount. Either way, they're taking a hit on their profits because YOU broke your glasses.

You are dumb-I am uncertain why people cannot take responability for their things! You wore the glasses, you broke them, and now it is suddenly LensCrafters job to replace them? The frames were probably not discontinued from the company who makes them, but LensCrafters may have discontinued them from their stock. Or the company you purchased them from on line purchases frames that are being discontinued and sell them for less. But lets blame someone else for you problems that is easier.

LensCrafters rude doctor

Yesterday, i experienced the worst eye exam of my life at lenscrafters. Dr. Rebecca pitt - jackson was so terribly rude that i could hardly believe she has a career in any field, let alone as a doctor. She was impatient and kept sighing and making noises of frustration durind my exam and chiding me for inconsistent anwers. My children said she continually rolled her eyes at my answers. I felt pressured to answer eventhough i could not see the letters or make them out because she would tell me i had to give a guess. I believe my glasses may not be the correct prescription because she did not listen to me or take the time or care to ensure i was being helped. After spending $262 on the exam and glasses, i feel disastisfied with both my care and prescription.

Excellent care. Professional. Did not waste my time.
I was a contact lens rep throughout the 1990's and have kept up on lens technology. She recommended only the most healthy contacts for my eyes. I would rather have healthy eyes than use some antiquated technology from the 1960's.
I know the above reviews are several years old, and Dr. Jackson is no longer at LensCrafters, but I need to address some of these comments from an educated perspective.
For BrianJ29, I am sure it is more important to save a penny instead of saving the health of your eye. Way to go!
And cburton - if you can't respond to which option is clearer and your answers are not consistent, it is impossible to provide you with an accurate RX. I am sure you and Dr. Jackson were frustrated by the experience, and maybe it could have been handled differently, but it is clear she told you the issue, and it is impossible for anyone but you to describe what you are seeing.
Bottom line: I will never trust anyone else in Missoula with my eye care.

Wow - I could not STRONGLY DISAGREE any more.
I actually work in the field of ocular health. I do not know her personally - I do not work with her. I do not know how counting pills gives anyone any credibility in terms of ocular health.
If you are concerned with your long-term eye health, Dr Jackson is by far the best optometrist in Missoula. Since Missoula is such a small community, I have seen some of her patients over the years and have absolutely never disagreed with any of her findings. She will only fit patients in the product that is best for their ocular health. Contact lens technology has changed greatly in the last 5 years. While I hope you do not, your wife may have ocular health problems due to your refusal to spend money for the best product for her eyes. If, as a pill counters wife, you are sure you have the correct rx and brand, pick an optometrist who is less concerned about your ocular health.
As for being rude, some of us have bad days. I can attest to how frustrating it is to be with a patient who can not verbalize which option is better and is totally contradictory. In the future, just tell her the options are too close to tell a difference. It is impossible for us to see what you are seeing. Some people are decisive; some people are not. Help your optometrist by telling him/her if you are having trouble with the exam instead of being frustrated and unhappy at the end. I have to re-examine folks like you all the time - it is part of the job.

We visited this Lenscrafters on 12/29/2011 and had a very similar experience with the same dr at the Missoula Lenscrafters. It was actually so poor that my wife walked out of the appointment mid-appointment and I canceled mine. When my wife had her appointment she got the similar eye rolling during the eye exam, combined with snide comments about which lense should look clearer. After getting throught the exam the physician then refused to write a rx for the brand of contacts my wife has been using for the last 5 years (instead trying to force my wife to buy a much more expensive brand). After arguing about it for 5 minutes we finally decided it was not worth it.

Working in the healthcare field myself (pharmacist) I was appalled by the service provided. I have frankly never had an interaction with any physician as negative as this one. Avoid at all costs.

LensCrafters terrible experience

I went to LensCrafters to buy a new pair of glasses and they have a 'menu' of different lens types. I saw the AVP lenses on their website and it showed a wider and clearer version of conventional progressive lenses that just gives you a narrow window of clear vision. So I thought, what a good idea, somebody finally improved progressive lens technology, but after picking them up and wearing them I realized it was just a marketing ploy to scam the consumer out of more money. I compared them with my old lenses and it had the same narrow window forcing you to turn your head to get to the 'sweet spot' to see clearly. Don't waste your money on the added cost for their AVP 'advance view progressive', it's just a rip off. I'd also be weary of their Superview lenses as well, it's probably just another ploy to scam you out of more money. I'll never go back to LensCrafters again.

Superview is a type of lens that lenscrafters recomends when you have a higher perscription. As for the quality of the lens, I personally have it and wouldn't go with anything else. The lenses are thinner by far than the next type of lens (poly) and don't give me the sinus headaches that I experienced with thicker lenses. As for being a marketing ploy, maybe you didn't get explained as to what they do. But trust me, if someone showed you the difference between the two lenses, you wouldn't ever think this is a "marketing ploy", the difference is easy to see. So before you go out telling people who have thick rxs that "superview is a rip off" have someone show you the difference...

I agree with you both. I order glasses on April 11, 2009 and today is April 30, 2009 and I still do not have my glasses. Although everyone at the store in Louisville, KY Omoor Center has tried to be nice and patient no one can give me a date when I can expect my lenses to come in. I have been given the run around every day for the last 7 days that I have called. It has gone from a quality issue with the lenses to a machine broke and that is why I have not received my glasses. Now it is the lab shipped the lenses and the store has not received them. This is unbelievable. My isurance company has all ready completed the claim, you know that is bad, and I still have no glasses and no answers. I have called the Customer Service for their Corporate office [protected] and their Company Liason to the President
[protected] Kary Bradley no help everyone sends me back to the store. I find it hard to believe that a company that owns this many sub companies can not find a better system to order their lenses. If I were their President I would find a diffrent lab to process orders. I get the feeling that it is all about the money! Fine I can take my money to another business that cares. My money speaks!

This is why they have the disclaimer, "For illustration purposes only. Individual results may vary." All prescriptions and people's eyes vary or have quirks that can make a lens a bad choice for them. AVP can be an improvement from SVP for certain customers, and the employee should have explained if your benefits were diminished. Alternatively, you could have also returned the lenses for the 30 day guarantee after trying them out. You are the only one who can see out of your eyes, so your communication with the opticians is priceless for having them help you.

You unfortunately may have just had a Seg height measurement that was too low. The person measuring the number of millimeters from the bottom of your lens to the bottom of your pupil needs to be at least 17mm in the Featherwate Plus lens and 19mm in the Featherwate Scotchgard lens. If it is lower than these the wider viewing area will be lost or the benfits will be diminished.

It is too bad you did not take advantage of LensCrafters 30 day satisfaction gaurantee and exchange them or get a full money refund instead of puoting on a website like this. And if it was human error you must be Christ himself having never made a mistake that needed correcting.

You're and idiot for not returning to the store and asking for a different lens or even just getting your money back and getting cheap, not inexpensive, cheap glasses at the VA hospital.

Superview lenses are a High Index plastic lens used in the entire industry that have an index of refraction of 1.67 thus the name. Don't assume things and put them out here int he internet when you have no education or training inthe industry.

LensCrafters terrible place

So if you don't mind crappy, overpriced, service and products, check out LensCrafters.

First of all, I went in to LensCrafters for them to fix a pair of glasses. Instead of fixing them they broke them so I would buy another pair of glasses. And then over charged me for my lenses. So far every time I have been to the store, I have had poor service and bad quality purchases. I would not recommend going to LensCrafters for anything. Try Site for Sore Eyes or Pearle Vision.

My experience with LensCrafters has been in PA as well as in CA.

You're a terrible person to think that we purposely break customers frames. You've never been on the side of the associate who takes someone 5 year old frames that have seen WAYYYY too much love, and do a small change to them that causes them to break. Trust me, we all feel awful, and to have someone say that we're all scam artists is insulting. Whenever anyone in our store does tweaks to old frames we warn you ahead of time (we were all trained to do this) that they may break.

In response to John's message, stress cracks that happen after five and a half months are caused by customer abuse. Stress cracks that occur because of poor manufacturing (lens was too big for frame) appear at least within 90 days, though usually sooner.

Crappy and overpriced service and products, really? Lets disect your statement.

Crappy and overpriced, Untrue-but you say so because you didnt get what you wanted at the price you wanted to pay.

We dont fix glasses so that we can break them and charge our patients because we think the should get another pair.

Im sure you forgot to tell us that when we went to fix them that you were told that "if anything should happen to the frame or lenses that its not our responisability, do to it not being our frame."

Whe you come to Lenscrafters you get a Premium Product @ a premium price @ a premium time. One hour service. You came to LC because you knew we could try to help you.
If you go to a car dealer with you car and its making funny noises and ask them to look at it, they do, then it doesnt start You blame them?

Also they accused me of miss using them such I did not I only wore these when I went out for good because of the expense Of buying them such was over 500.00. LensCrafters very bad customer service

Lens Crappers has very bad customer service!

This is the Oceanside store in California. The staff did not call my husband to tell him that when his glasses came in, they were defected and had to be sent out again. It took 3 weeks to get his glasses. There is bad communication between the so called "staff".

The "manager" named Karla said she would credit my husband’s credit card $50.00 for the inconvenience, but when he went to pick up his glasses she was already gone for the day and did not leave any note of any kind with my husband’s glasses so that the then "manager" Sherry would not credit my Husbands credit card. Sherry said Karla did not tell her anything about the situation and would credit his credit card.

We will never go to Lens Crappers again.

Ms. Moriarty,

It does not matter that you are lucky to have not had all of your lenses crack on you from incorrect cleaning--you should avoid cleaning lenses with dishsoap, Windex, and other chemicals not specifically formulated to be gentle with the special coating you ordered. If you do not want to purchase a cleaner that is meant to be used on glasses, water works fine and use a 100% cotton cloth (not Kleenex.)

Lenscrafters also needs you to leave your glasses so they can make the lenses fit correctly, otherwise they cannot do anything to help you. It is entirely possible to purchase a spare pair without spending $400 at Lenscrafters, and it is entirely possible to purchase a nice inexpensive spare pair at another place while staying with Lenscrafters for a more fashion-conscious pair.

Lastly, Lenscrafters doesn't make the lenses themselves, but just as they work in tandem with companies like Ray-Ban and Prada, the same goes for lenses.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER have I had such problems with glasses. I should have known better. I need invisible progressives. I ordered them with the special coating --I've had many pairs of glasses with the coating on them and never had a problem. Two months after wearing them I noticed pitting or bubbling on one of the lenses. They replaced them. Tried to get me to leave my glasses with them. I don't have $400 to throw around on spare glasses. They tried to get me to purchase their 50% off lenses. Right, like I might make another purchase at Lenscrafters. Now, we're 6 months down the road and the same thing happened again. The manager tried to pin it on me -- must be the way I clean them or care for them. THEN WHY DIDN'T IT HAPPEN TO THE OTHER LENS. Whoever they use to make their lenses should be shot. NEVER WILL I BUY GLASSES HERE AGAIN.

LensCrafters polarization problem with sunglasses

I purchased a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses in November of 2007 from the Lenscrafters in Bakersfield, California. In May 2008, I noticed that the lenses had cracks horizontally in the polarization tinting on both lenses. It cost me $130 to have new lenses installed. (Lenscrafters said the lenses were scratched). The cracks looked exactly like a bad window tinting job you see on the rear window of a car after a few years.

I looked at the new lenses and noticed that in one month, the polarization tinting was appearing to stretch and distort in the corners of the lenses. On August 28, 2008, after only 3 months, the right lenses had the same cracking in the tint that the previous pair had. Lenscrafters replaced both lenses without charge but I have a feeling that this will reoccur again.

I bought a pair of Ray Ban with Polarization in 2011 and now have issues the lens. I took them into the store and they said it was salt water or Hawaii weather that has destroyed the polarization portion to the lens?
I am not on a boat all day or live by the ocean and cannot see why this should be happening. I really
thinks its a bad product they have issued. They sold me a plastic type of lens instead of the glass ones because they do not make a polarized lens for this particular model. I am still going to get to the bottom of
the issue and think they have defective lens because I have a pair of Style Eyes glasses with the exact plastic polarized lens and they are still perfect and they are much older too.

SUZZIEQ,
Do you have a clue as to what you are talking about? A polarized lens has a film called a polarized laminate attached to it! Any half wit optician knows that. The fracture marks the customer saw in his lenses were due to improper fit of the lens. the rainbow looking colors that appear before the cracks are caused by stress on the lens; the lens was cut slightly to large and when inserted into the frame was squeezed or bent away from the actual base and cross curves, not only will this result in a cracked lens but surface delamination may also occur. Somtimes labs like The one here, will try to hand edge the lens and the result is usually a ring or unsightly white ness that traces the edges of the lens. the customer should call the corporate Luxotica and demand a refund. I hate when people try to justify secondhand quality work as a customers issue! The store manager ANITA, or Lab Manager Will should be able to help the customer with his or her refund.

Also if exposed to saltwater or chemicals can cause problems with the polarization!

Lenscrafters does not tint polarized lenses, nor do they tint them like a vehicle's windows. It isn't a piece of film they place over clear lenses to create the effect of polarization. Maybe you are confused or the customer service did not do a very good job at explaining what lenses you were purchasing?

Make sure to only clean them with 100% cotton towels (not Kleenex), never use dishsoap or Windex because the chemicals can eat the lenses, do not leave them in a hot place for an extended amount of time (ex: car in the summer), and remember to place your sunglasses back in their case when not in use.

I know having scratches appear really sucks, especially when you look at the price, but remember to be as gentle with them as you would be with something else for the same price!

LensCrafters false charity program

I have spent hundreds on glasses, sunglasses, etc. at Lens Crafters over the years. Recently I had an economic downturn and needed help getting new glasses. Lens Crafters touted a charity program called "Gift of Sight Program". A person needed a prescription and a letter from a non profit with their tax ID number on it.

Fine. But, I am finding it impossible to get a non profit to send a blank recommendation with their number on it without knowing at least the ball park figure of the donation. Lens Crafters will not put an amount of the donation verbally or in writing, making it impossible for the non profit to back the donation in their records. Isn’t this illegal?

The manager was rude, condescending, and I am very upset at even trying to get help from this sham of a charity program.

LENSCRAFTERS GIFT OF SIGHT PROGRAM

The letter to lenscrafter is just a referral letter not an order to buy anytinng or pay for anything.

the letter should say the following( usually this is just a form letter, the organization just changes the date and name on the letter):

1)ask for glasses at no charge!
2)state you can not afford to buy glasses
3) you do not have insurance for glasses
4) state that they are a non profit organization
5) PUT THEIR TAX ID ON LETTER!

THEIR IS NO COST TO ORGANization!
LENSCRAFTERS GIFT OF SIGHT PROGRAM

gift of sight covers: 1) free exam 2) free pair of glasses

the only thing bad about the program is the VERY LIMITED CHOICE OF FRAMES: THEY ONLY LET YOU COOSE FROM
A SELECTON OF 6 TO 20 FRAMES!

YOU CAN HAVE THE EXAM IN ONE STORE AND GO TO ANOTHER STORE FOR THE FRAMES.
THEIR ARE 2 VOUCHERS INVOLVED: 1 FOR THE GLASSES 1 FOR THE EXAM

I HAVE GOTTEN AN EXAM AT ONE STORE AND THE GLASSES AT ANOTHER

Had a bad experience with King Family Vision, the optometrist who rents space at Old Saybrook CT Lenscrafters. Had appointment for OneSight eye exam to get glasses. Been walking around with glasses with huge crack longitudinally down left lens. Have Gorilla-glued every single part of these glasses together, including lenses, frames, etc. wrapped wire around temples and coated with glue to keep earpieces on. Obviously, I'm not doing well financially. Got a referral for OneSight program and was going to go to Old Saybrook to get the eye exam and glasses. When person from King Family Vision thought I had no insurance to cover eye exam, they were going to do it free of charge, and they said they have to give people the very first morning appointment, which would been pretty hard for me. Then the woman said she thought I DID have coverage under my Medicare w/ state supplement, even though I had been told I did not. So then she told me I could come for exam WHENEVER I WANTED. Hmmm... So if it's free, they give you appointment nobody wants, but otherwise, you get to choose. Then the day of the appointment, my horrible car just fell apart. Had to call and cancel appointment and woman from King Family Optical let out this audible sigh when I told her, designed for my benefit, obviously, to make me feel guilty that my car broke down. Then she told me they had 24 hour cancellation policy, to try to make me feel worse for having a car that broke down. She told me to call back and reschedule when I had transportation again. Since I felt like I might run the risk of running afoul of their 24 hour cancellation policy if I tried to make it there in the future in my broken down car, I decided to try to make it to the appointment, as I still would've been only 8 minutes late. When I called back to say I was going to come, this same woman told me they had already rescheduled my appointment with SOMEBODY ELSE. So much for all the guilt tripping about me missing it originally and the lectures about 24 hour cancellation policies! They filled that puppy up the minute I cancelled. So, she actually expected me to believe this. Then while I was on phone with her, already driving on the highway since I was going to try to make original appointment a bit late, I told her I got the feeling she was annoyed at me and then she wasn't trying to hide it, for canceling original appointment, etc. She denied it, of course. I asked for her supervisor's name, and she told me, but I got it wrong because I have a hearing problem and my car is loud. I tried to repeat the name I thought she had said, but I had gotten it wrong, thinking she has said "Kate" something. She somewhat sarcastically repeated the name I had said, replying, "Kate!? The manager is a man", instead of just politely repeating the manager's name so I understood it, or spelling it out, etc. The phone call just got worse and worse, she supposedly went to look for the manager, and then got back on the phone and told me he had just left, which I didn't even believe at that point, since she had been so snarky during my too phone calls with her already. I expressed my disbelief that the manager had just left, thinking she was just afraid of getting in trouble, and without telling me, she handed the call off to somebody else. By then i was pretty mad, and the other woman listened for quite awhile as I rambled on about how I felt being treated the way I was by the other woman. She did give me her own name when I asked and told me I could call the manager the following day, which I did not do. She also told me I could still come in for an appointment, which I was not about to do after the way I'd been treated by the other employee. She also told me they don't charge for missed appointments with their 24 hour cancellation policy, therefore I questioned why they even had one and why the other woman had even brought it up, particularly since I told her my car was pouring out anti-freeze which was why I had originally called to cancel. All in all a REALLY BAD experience with King Family Vision at the Old Saybrook, CT Lenscrafters.

I have had a mental disorder for 20 years. I do not have much money, so I was referred to my local government agency. They have been working diligently to get me a new pair of glasses. We tried a local Lenscrafters for their OneSight program. The lady was nice enough, but she had a quite limited selection of frames. I also found out that I would have plastic lenses. The bifocals would have lines in them as well. We are going to try another Lenscrafters. However, there is another option for me apparently whereby a local organization will give me a one-time donation for the full cost of glasses. They are so expensive, I hesitate to go that route tho. Apparently a person can also try Costco or Walmart or America's Best for a lower price. Also, an optician told me one time that plastic frames have to be adjusted more than metal frames.
I have to say, I have ALWAYS appreciated Lenscrafters and I am very grateful that they provide this service to provide good eyesight to people who probably have not been able to see for years.
For the record, in another area of my state, an eyeglass store gave me metal frames, glass Crizal (high-index) lenses with no lines and progressive bifocals (no lines). I knew they were a wonderful place, but now I realize just how wonderful and classy they were!

I work with Social Services and my job entails working with low income families. I do referrals to other agencies on a daily basis and have done many referrals to this program. One thing people keep commenting about is this is a "Free" program to get FREE eye glasses. Correctly identified is the fact that people can qualify for free glasses, however, there is a $40 fee for the eye exam that the client is responsible to pay. In order to qualify, you must have very limited to zero income and have no other way to pay for the eye exam and glasses, also must not have insurance. This charitable organization or program is not a sham, and not all low income individuals qualify. So, if you were denied a referral, there must be a reason. Our agency is only allowed to refer no more than two people per month, so we are told to be very conservative with our referrals. This program has been very helpful to many!

Unless a coating begins to come off of your lenses within the first month or so, it is probably of your own actions causing the coating to peel. Judging by the quality of your post, I would assume you failed to handle the cleaning of your lenses properly. Perhaps you should try caring for your next pair of lenses a bit better and they will last you much longer.

LensCrafters poor product quality

I purchased a pair of burberry frames in february 08 about 220. In June I went in for an adjustment on Sunday. Monday morning I noticed the sparkles on the side had begun to fall off. I went to Lenscrafters Monday and complained to the sales associate. She asked how long ago I purchased the frames. When I told her only months ago she proceeded to tell me oh it depends how you are caring for the frames, and I dont know what kind of work you do. She went on to tell me she had lost a stone in her glasses as well, when I asked how long she had her glassess she stated over a year. I said to her well I had only had my glasses months and the stones should not be falling off. She went on to say that if it was due to the adjustment The stone closes to the lens would be gone. I will never shop at lenscrafters again! There products are too cheap and expensive and they really dont care at all about customer service

LensCrafters frames do not hold up

About a year & a half ago, I bought a pair of Prada eyeglasses at Lenscrafters here in Boston. They were extremely nice looking and I paid quite a bit for them (around $450). Over time the frames became dull and cloudy. Nothing wrong with the lenses, just the frames. So I stop in at Lenscrafters and ask if there is anything I can do to clean or correct my glasses. I'm told by the salesperson that this just happens, it's plain wear & tear. Plastic frames, he said, only last about a year before they dry out & that this is very common. "Nothing you can do about it, " he says, and shrugs. He said I should just buy another pair then tried to sell a similar pair to me. I wasn't told this when purchasing these glasses. What's up with this? Built-in obsolescence so that we have to buy glasses every other year, spending hundreds on each pair to keep Lenscrafters going? Ridiculous--I'm purchasing my stuff now either at Costco Eyewear or online as I refuse to support Lenscrafters. I'm also posting on my blog, facebook, my space, etc. I'm sick of this stuff!

first off the associate was wrong for talking to a customer like he did. Frames do not break on there own. having worked in the optical business for years i handled plastic frames for years and having myself purchased thousand dollar plastic frames for myself i will tell you that no matter what you do to them if you wear hair product like most people do the plastic will become dry and crack if handled improperly. also just to note just because you spent money on something doesn't mean that they are indestructible. also again having worked in the optical business i will tell you those people work hard for little pay so you can see. feel free to go to walmart or costgo or any other sub par optical store and use their lenses that were made in china or korea. they will not work. also pair 29 dollars for glasses that should have been left in the seventies. and finally give people a break you would have to pay me a lt f money to sit down with the likes of you and most of the americans i read posting things on this site. also for ever negative comment on this site there are 15 satisfied customers out there who have a superior product that liooks fantastic.

I agree. I also had a similar experience. I had some Versace frames that weren't even a year old break on me. "The spring broke in the barrel, " is what the store associate told me. I felt that the 50% policy didn't apply because I didn't do anything to break them, but he insisted that I had by simply being the owner of them. Trust me, I've been wearing glasses for a very, very long time and my prescription is so high that I don't even qualify for the 1-hour service, so I do take great care of my glasses and, yes, have even broken a few throughout the years. I definitely know the difference between my breaking them and a crappy product that doesn't even stand up to the test of time to get me through the year for my next eye exam. Moreover, that same associate became arrogant and boasted about his degree and told me that I was wasting his time. So, Lens Crafters will not get any more of my money, nor my family's--we're a family of eye glasses wearers. By the way, this happened in Austin, TX, at the Lens Crafters located in Highland Mall. Good luck and good riddance!

LensCrafters just ripped off!

Had an eye exam at lenscrafters and while my eye were dialated ordered glasses and couldn't see the screen the woman ordering my glasses was typing on. She told be they were 495. and with my insurance what a great deal at $216. what - the sign says free lenses with any pair 169.95 and up. she said they usually use scotchguard and explained what it did. I thought they were included since she didn't explain any cost. Just tacked on an extra $125, and $65. for feather weights neither of which I was told were extra. When I got home there was 2 extra charges added on. I called up and said take them off. Before I left they folded up the receipt stuck it in an envelope and never showed it to me. So glad I didn't wait for them, I will never go back so glad I asked for a copy of my script before she confiscated it. I will never go back to them.

Lenscrafters advertises 'one hour or less' I understand that not everyone qualifies for that. I was told by the employee the helped me place my order that it would be 10 days, but usually less, to receive my glasses. After 10 days I called to check the status of my glasses. I was then told be the woman on the phone that it could take as much as 14 business days. There is a enormous difference between the original quote of 10 days to the second quote of 14 BUSINESS days. I didn't take that long to cash my $330.00 check though.

I cannot see out of t hem - can't read, see tv, computer, etc. Went back three times, and was told each time that I just had to get use to the progressive lens. Had a new eye exam and was told they would make them stronger on the bottom so I could read, but lady out front said I didn't need stronger. She gave me something to read and it was all a blur, so she said I just wasn't use to the progressive lens. One associate told me to get a pair of "cheaters" for reading. Never again...

From an independent eye doc... You get what you pay for.

The best lenses are not offered by the warehouses or the discounters or even the big chains. The reason- they can't mark them up 4 times, therefore, the margins are not high enough. The equipment to produce them is too expensive, and since most big companies have already invested in their own labs that use old technology, they will not recommend or even offer the best quality.

I am primarily talking about progressive lenses- the best out there have the magnification area cut into the back of the lens. This is called free form design. This technology also produces the highest quality single vision lenses, but is overkill for most prescriptions. That is, unless you want a high wrap curve lens in a sunglass or you have a high prescription or astigmatism.

Polycarbonate featherweights have the highest distortion of any lens material, although it is impact resistant. The distortion is awful for most people in my opinion. Trivex is a good alternative which is a type of poly with better optics. Drill mount or groove mount glasses require trivex, poly or high index to resist chipping, cracking, etc...

Anyway, this is a very complex field- what it comes down to is you should find someone you trust. From experience most private offices will bend over backwards to make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. Usually they are no more expensive then a Pearle or Lenscrafters and have superior service and higher skilled opticians... But of course I am biased.

Oh, at my office I can do Poly Transition Grey Crizal Alize non glare with 2 year warranty for about $270 complete even if you don't buy your frame from me. Last I checked Walmart was $190 for an inferior product and 90 day warranty. Lenscrafters is always more for an inferior product. Do you think all those sale ads and mall rent are cheap?

This one is in regards to NonnieMouse. Although that was Denise's fault for not asking any questions.

But for NonnieMouse. You really don't know what you're talking about. Scotchguard in the optical world is a teflon coating. When water gets on your lenses it doesn't run, it simply beads up so that it doesn't streak. It simply has the Scotchguard name because it's the same principle. And polycarbonate lenses are a different plastic classification than just normal plastic. They're actually more susceptible to scratching, which is where the scratch resistant coating comes into play. But the lenses themselves are far more durable and impact resistant than regular plastic lenses. Featherweights is simply the brand name for polycarbonate lenses.

So, with that said. She was probably saying, Featherweight lenses with anti-reflective and Scotchguard coatings on them. I say AR -and- Scotchguard because you can only get AR by itself.

Yeah, I ALWAYS pay more for something and them complain when I get home instead of asking for clarification prior to paying. It's your own fault. And why wouldn't you think the features the salesperson was talking about would be extra? ASK what you're paying more for.

I am sorry I am LMAO! Who would pick out a piar of glasses when they can't see and then sign something they don't understand and cannot see! And Anik it was dumb of yu not to pick out your own frames that is your fault not LensCrafters. Also Sam's and Costco do not have the same quality as LensCrafters or even the same customer service or warrenties.

Lens Crafters is the worst ever. My finace bought me a pair as a gift and he was trying to do something nice as I had a new eye exam done and it was laying around while I was home he went to pick up a frame a it was just a colour that I hate and I travel alot with my job and when I finally gott hem and went to Lens Crafters to explian what thei ssue was they gave me no time of day. I have been fighting with them for months now about my glasses and i have even went to Lauier Optical out of anger to se what kind of frames they might have and have explianed my situation to them and they could not believe it. They told me about thier 30 day policy and then I told them i was a way on business leave and I went back to the store everything was still in the case and in the bag. BRAND NEW. once they have thier money they just dont give a Sh**. what the hell ever happend to customer care? this is not right I have glasses that I dont wear I am NOT satisfied what so ever and because they alreday got paid they dont care?

LensCrafters pressured sales

I have used Lenscrafters since the early 90s. The last 3 times I have wanted to use my old glasses. The first pair they said they could not put new lenses in made sense to me. They said the bottom of the lens were held in by fishing line and it was too stretched. OK, they got the sale of new frames they informed me would be able to be used for another pair of lenses. When I returned to have the lens replaced, they gave some reason as to why it could not happen & I bit again. That time I got full plastic frames & again was assured they could put new lenses in them Yesterday I went to the Arrowhead Mall in Glendale AZ and was told if they were over two years old, they could break and so lens could not be replaced. I walked out-goodbye Lenscrafters.

Wow. I was trying to decide whether or not to go to LensCrafters, and this post was very helpful. The responses defending LensCrafters all appear to be employees. Your responses are rude. You actually call your customers "tightass" and "[censored]"? Seriously? If this is what I can expect when I go to the store I think I'll pass. You can't spell (even with a spell check button right below the comment box!) or capitalize, and your grammar is atrocious. You may be "trained for Production of Eyewear and Quality of Eyewear (sic)", but I hope it holds up better than your middle school training. I have a pair of titanium frames that I love, and have been using for about 8 years. They are still as solid as the day I bought them. I also have a pair of "standard" metal frame sunglasses that are about the same age. Both have had new lenses fitted a couple of times. Oddly enough, neither of them are the slightest bit "crusty" either. You should all do LensCrafters a huge favor and just STFU.

Eyegirl, I work as a certified optician for LensCrafters. After a few years of working there, some things we have to do started to bring my morale down, so I put my resume in to private practices and had several job offers. Sad part was, none of them offered me better compensation than I was getting at LC. They did not offer me anything close to what I was being paid at LensCrafters, their "discount" on glasses wasn't anywhere near what I get at LensCrafters (at LC we get a free pair every year for us or our spouse/eligible dependents to use for glasses in addition to half-off anything else but Maui Jim), and though some even offered to pay part of my medical premiums from the company of their choice, I could still buy my own insurance cheaper than that. This was from a couple small-practice optometrists as well as large facility ophthalmologists. Not every place can pay better than LC, probably because of the fact it's a corporation. I am still employed at LC because of this.

It's very easy to re-string glasses...as for the quality of the frame it is up to the lab manager (or if it's an optique, like where I work, it's up to the associate). If I see that your frames look like a small gust of wind is going to take off a temple, I'm not going to tell you that this will be a good idea. We'd be taking on the liability of something very easily breaking while we manufacture if and where is that going to leave us? Having to replace your frame...As for cost, HellBent explained it better than anyone else. It DOES actually save you money to replace your frame sometimes, as there are only a few discounts that we can give to people who purchase lens only. We have damn good clearance sales right now and I've seen people get new glasses for half the cost of just getting lenses (I got a new pair of sunglasses for 130 dollars). That's up to you if you would like to waste money at that point...

Lenscrafters is kidding themselves if they think their staff is so well trained. If they had the skills and knowledge, they would be working in a private practice for more money and better hours.
And telling you they cant re-use the frames because of the wire is a joke. They obviously did not know how to restring the glasses. Any 'trained' optician should easily be able to do that.

There's no doubt an incentive for a sales associate to push for a customer to buy new frames. However, it's been my experience that lab technicians will use a customer's frame as long as it's in good condition. It doesn't make sense for a company to lose a sale entirely rather than just bite the bullet for a lenses only sale. If your glasses were rejected, it was most likely for good reason. A doctor's office might view it differently because, for one, they know they'll gain your business if they stick it to LC, and two, because their warranty is probably different. I'd also like to point out that quality standards change over time. What might have been acceptable to try in the past might not be acceptable now through company and federal standards. With research, you learn that putting certain prescriptions in certain lenses and frames isn't safe or reliable. I think the biggest problem with your situation is that the sales associates didn't explain their reasons well enough to meet your satisfaction. They lost you as a customer, and that's unfortunate.

How long do you expect frames to last? The vendors only make frames that last for 1-2 years depending on how you treat them. As for the customer service-how would you feel if your frame did break while the lab was handling it? Should the store provide a new frame because you whined and complained about not being able to use your own frame? Or how about if the frame broke three months from purchase date? And you had to make a complete new purchase? That's like buying two pairs of glasses in three or so months! What kind of customer service would that be? How happy ould you feel about that? Besides why would you want to put nice new lenses in a crusty old frame?

You "memory titanium" could have been denied do to many factors: Barrels mishaped so that we couldnt get a good trace, If that lab said they dont carry that shape it could have been because they dont care that pattern...Some Edgers require a pattern to cut a specific shape..there are other factors and i dont have the glasses in front of me so i cant make a proper diagnosis.

As for Quality Excellence Minded, you sir, are wrong. There is a very very stingent Process for training that is followed. Every lab associate goes there rigirious testing in Quailty Manufaturing, troubleshooting and maintance ton ensure Quality is to the Highest level of servie that it can be.

But agian, do to ignorance of not knowing that trade does not give you the right to call our answers "###", merely because you are not educated in Lens Manufactoring.

Your prolley the guy that tells his mechanic that hes doing brakes wrong...

Just because we dont give you the answer YOU want us to, doesnt mean its wrong. Lab employees are trained for Production of Eyewear and Quality of Eyewear. That IS OUR PRIMARY FOCUS! We dont care if we have to re-use frames, but of quality is hindered at all in the process we will definelty not use the frame because that would create a not so pleaseant Customer Experience if something were to happen to the frame itself during production.

Have a nice day :)

So, how can you explain Lenscrafters refusal to re-use "Memory Titanium" frames? Maybe the Titanium sagged or got brittle? Maybe it "forgot"?

The answer that Lenscrafters gave me was that my frames were over two years old, and they don't make that lens shape anymore. This is of course just more Lenscrafter's ###. There are standard lens blanks that can be shaped for any frame. It does take the right tools and training - which perhaps Lenscrafters is too cheap to set up.

But there are plenty of other companies that will fill that void for Lenscrafters. A simple Google search gives half a million results for "eyeglass lens replacement".

The last two times I went to Lenscrafters I was jerked around. But hey, you know, maybe it was the customer's fault. My apologies for being a poor customer and demanding satisfaction and quality. I'll get out of your hair and go elsewhere. You win.

LensCrafters poor customer service

Recently I purchased a pair of glasses from the Lens Crafter store in Tupelo, MS. The girl who fitted me told me that if anything was wrong with the glasses to return in 2 weeks. I did and told her that the bifocal needed to be lowered. She tried to adjust them and told me to bring them back if they weren't right and I did, once again and asked if I should send them off to be remade. She again told me that she could adjust them and the next day I brought them back to be adjusted and she tried once again and told me to wait 2 more weeks. I did' In the meantime I dropped my glasses and had a scratch on the lens and took them in to repair them explaining that the bifocals were still too high and lenses needed to be remade because I was tired of coming back and forth for adjustments. This time she told me that my time had run out for coverage and that it would cost my over $100 to replace the lenses. The same girl had put me off so that she wouldn’t have to deal with sending my glasses off. I use to work for an Optometrist and knew that the bifocals needed to be lowered. She was smart with me and I felt just to prove a point that she knew everything she took the matter in her own hands avoiding to let the technicians take care of the problem. This woman was of African American descent, in her 30's and because I was white, did everything possible to prove that she was running the show. I feel that I shouldn't have to pay for the lenses, because I feel she did this on purpose, trying to be Smart, instead of following the proper procedure. I work for the government and have a very intense job using my eyes. My glasses need to be exact. I explained this to her and she actually was very offensive that I had such a job.

Had an appointment for 12:40. For what ever reason the mapquest took me to the wrong location. Was 10 minutes late. They took the next appointment in in my place which is fine. But instead of switching appointments and letting me have their appointment, they said I had to wait till late in the afternoon. That was impossible. Had to get back to the job site. Wasted an hour driving there and an hour coming back. Just thought the customer service could have been better.

I purchased a pair of glasses on jan 20th of this year from lenscrafters in springfield il.Since they were progressive bifocals they had to be ordered, which took ten days to get them. When I got the glasses I also purchased the eyeglass cleaning kit-wet cloths, dry cloths and spray cleaner. I told the sales associate that my job took me away for 30 days at a time and I would be gone until 5 days after the 30 day warranty was up and she said she would make a note of that so I would have a chance to bring them back when I got back home if I had a problem. Well, I had a problem. The third day after I was back at my job, I went off watch and went to my room to shower and then go eat. After getting out of the shower I decided to clean my glasses. I rinsed the lenses with warm water, let them drip dry and then spritzed them with the lense cleaner, then took one of the lense cloths out of the box and proceeded to do the right lense, immediately a big scratch was formed in the center down to the bottom of the lense. Lenscrafters says my warranty is out but will replace the lense for half price, So mch for the associates note and the damage was caused by something on the cleaning cloths I bought from them. I have a LOT of friend s family that wear glasses.Quess where they WON'T be getting their glasses from

I order my glasses three weeks ago and they are still not ready. I was told 2 weeks ago that they were in and then told they were not, that they would be in the following week. Another week went by and still no glasses. Here I am today 3 weeks waiting and just got off the phone and was told they will be in sometime during the next few days due to a 'lab problem'. BS! They told me that last week. I am contacting my insurance company to see how to deal with this, since I am going for a refund and going elsewhere.

Well it's pretty darned OBVIOUS by reading the second comment, what the deal is there, .."she probably sensed you 'WAS' a BIGOT...", ARGH!...uneducated, closed minded people. It probably didn't even BEGIN this way, but ended up this way when it was all over. No one will ever know if they weren't there. Either the customer came across as rude & caused the employee to become defensive, or the Employee was that way & caused the Customer to become offensive, ..of course in this closed minded, prejudiced State we live in, regardless of WHAT it is about or NOT about, the race card will always be played, even if it is just a misunderstanding, ..that same situation could have been played out between 2 whites, or 2 blacks, & been simply that, a misunderstanding, since it wasn't, it was a "race" thing. I am so sick of this from BOTH sides I could explode! One crappy Black person does NOT make the entire race bad, & one crappy white person should not make THEIR whole race bad. Each person ought to be viewed on an individual basis, whether it be for their merits, or their mistakes. Can't we all just get along?...lol! If by the second attempt her problem was not taken care of, she should have gone to someone ABOVE that employee, whether she was black, white, purple, or GREEN! That's her stupidity, of course after THAT long, ..time will run out! And another thing, I REALLY doubt that the Employee was so envious or whatever of the customers job, that she felt she needed to act or do something differently out of jealously. If she was THAT important, & so high up the food chain, she wouldn't be stuck in TUPELO, MS in the FIRST place, ..and by the way, I am WHITE, but I'm not ignorant & closed-minded, I like to think that I am FAIR. I am going in there for glasses this week, so I'll get to see first hand...

IT WAS A BIG SCRATCH CAUSED BY SOMETHING ON THE LENSE CLEANING CLOTH FRESH OUT OF THE BOX.There, maybe that will help you comprehend. As far as mentioning my shower, it's called "Sequence of events" . Lenses that are multifocal and have antiglare can not be processed in store exclusively, as well as other multifocals without antiglare. They have to be sent to a lab, and sometimes travel to more than one lab to complete the job. Ten days is not long, so don't mention it as if it's a complaint. They say the glasses take 7-10 days to complete usually, so they were within the average time period. Crack like the one you explained don't form on their own. I'm not sure what happen in the time period you apparently wanted to tell us about your showering habits and why it was necessary to mention this, but even if it was a stress crack due to insertion, they don't form before your eyes, unless you place them under stress. If they had been at fault, they would've replaced the lens without a problem. Perhaps your story wasn't convincing enough and they deemed you negligent. Sorry, that's life.

Once you realized she was not able to repair the problem you should have thanked her for her efforts and taken it to the Optometrist who would have repaired it very easily. You were too concerned about offending which was not necessary as it was about your glasses and nothing else - right? There was no reason to have to prove anything re the race thing and I don't understand why you felt you even needed to mention it...I'm sure she doesn't care - why did you feel you needed to prove anything to her...? You were too concerned about the wrong thing and it backfired on you...

LensCrafters cheap frames - expensive prices

I have used LENS Crafters for years. I usually get their Brooks Brother product.

About three weeks ago my two year old glasses broke. I went to Lens Crafters and found a pair of CHAPS frames $160 that I liked. High Index lenses were also about $200. True to word they made them in an hour.

About two days later I notice I was [censored]ing my finger when I took off my glasses. The top of the screw that held in the lens was too long and they did a poor job of clipping it back.

I took the frames back. I was told that the manufacturer plaints the screw in and they have to strip it to get it out. I expressed some doubt and concern about the frames, but let them give me a new pair and put them together better. The manager assured me they were high quality frames.

Three days later the right nose piece just fell off. I found the screw, but could not put it back because it was stripped.

I took the glasses back to the store today and told them, I liked the shape but would no longer accept CHAPS. They found me a pair of POLOS, but then wanted me to pay $70 more. I told them it was their error and I would not pay more. The manager then told me that he was giving the LENS for Free. I asked him how he figured that. He said he could not use the lenses in the pair I brought back.

Anyhow, I told him those pair were coming back, and I was giving him a chance to keep my business.

H said he could not match the price of the first pair and that the CHAPS were entry level frames. Like that was my fault.

I got my refund my family is done with LENS CRAFTERS. They have lost $1000s of future business from me.

I agree with above! You are the kind of customers I would not want to have at my business. Why should they have to eat the cost? Things like that are what runs up the cost of glasses for everyone/ Why should you get something for free? If I walked in and purchaed the polos I would expect to pay the extra $70, why shouldn't you? I think you got great customer service.

I do have a ? for you - IT is clear that the polos are more expensive frame - so why do you think YOU should not have to pay for the upgrade - they are not asking you to pay any more just what you would have paid - if you purchased them orginally - the 1st day -
so u mean to say that if you go there 1 day and buy the cheapest frame in the place ( recallu get what you pay for ) - and you go back and get say a very explesive frame - say - 400 bucks - you should not have to pay the differance -

remember - they are getting you new lenses - so they are loosing $ there - and now you expect they should give you what ever you want - and not charge you for it - just to make you happy - THIS IS NUTS ! -
I think they where already giving you great customer service - by saying they would take them back - but that is not good enough for you ? you want more - ?
KINDA BALL SY if you ask me -
seems like not much makes you happy - i would think you would expect them to give you the glasses for free - and then get u a 2nd pr ?

LensCrafters cheap product - expensive price

I have recently purchased 2 sets of lens from lenscrafters at the Hanes Mall Store in Winston-Salem. I asked for scratch resistant lenses, one set to be the type that changes colour and the other plain. I asked for the best lens they had. I was given 2 sets - one that changed in the sun and one that did not change. I had a number of projects to do and as the work is in an office with strong fluorescent lighting I chose to wear the plain ones. About a month ago I started wearing the transition ones and they - each time I cleaned them - scratched. The lenses were made of soft plastic. I actually used optical wipes in sealed packets to clean them! I carried them back to Lenscrafters and was told I had to pay $250 to have the lenses replaced. Folks I paid $400 for the plain lens and $450 for the transition ones. How's that for customer service and selling a decent product?

Stay away from these people. They will sell you crap and then not stand up for the product.

Does anyone know of a product testing lab that I can send the lens to? I would pay to have them checked for quality and then I would take Lenscrafters to Small Claims Court for satisfaction. Dry Cleaners and Textile Manufacturers have the International Fabricare Labs for testing textiles, but I don't know about lenses for glasses.

Lenscrafters does use inferior materials and has dumbed down there staff to cut payroll costs, it is only a matter of time until they will go out of business. Good for them they have screwed over many of their employees and customers long enough. The location in this complaint is one of the major offenders, hireing a untrained gm who only has expeience selling speakers at best buy where he belongs.

I use plastic lenses from a different company. They will replace the lenses up to a year if I scratch them. The glasses I have now are my third pair. None have scratched during the first year. I work in dusty places setting up telcom systems and try to take care of my glasses but they do see their share of rough treatment. On the other hand my wife had several pairs from LensCrafters and if she looks at her glasses funny, they scratch. I think that LC uses inferior materials for their lenses. My wife has tried to be very careful, much more careful than I am. She is going to try a pair from the company I go to. This should be interesting.

If you asked for 'the best' I'm sure you also had Anti-Reflective on your lenses as well, which is prone to scratching especially if you are using a high paper fiber content wipe. Next time take the time to pay attention to what you are buying and listen to the associate when they telling you how to care for your product. Then take some personal responsibility. My 2yr old Hi Index transitions w/AR are still in pristine condition due to how I clean them, Hi Index being the material most susceptible to fine scratches and damage.

Please be honest about the way you clean your glasses. I could line up a thousand people with the exact same lenses you bought who have never scratched their lenses in the manner which you describe. Let us know when you take Lenscrafters before Judge Judy and I will bring the witnesses.

You're a boob...

A person who cares for their glasses the way you discribed is a boob and a child who needs mommy or daddy to tell them how to change thier dirty diaper. I agree with the other person who commented on this complaint. I work in the construction field and my glasses get dusty every five minutes. When I clean them with "wipes" I always run them under a hose or faucet first to get all the dust particles off. In your office there are dead skin particles, dust from ventalation systems, and soil from peoples shoes in every room. Now you know, mommy and daddy have explained things to you so you don't have to whine anymore to the next poor ### who sell you eyewear.

I am a bit confused -
1st - you state that LC uses cheap stuff - well they dont make the lenses themselves - they use vendors just as the rest of the optical store do -

2nd ly -- u state u used the pre-moisten towels - WELL I AM SURE YOU DID NOT TAKE THE TIME to READ the directions - IT clearly says to get a dirt of the lens prior to using them - therefore these should be used for fingerprints ONLY ! GO AHEAD AND READ IT AND OCME BACK

now 3rdly - you are dealing with plastic - plastic scratches - and based on what you said - (( scratching them cleaning them )) it shows - that you had dust or dirt on them - well when you clean glasses with this on them - it acts as sand paper and they do scratch -

and lastly - you should not think - they should eat the cost of the lenses do you ?
come on - you scratched them - cleaning them - but feel they should give you free ones - THAT IS NUTS - here at most optical shops there are no returns because your buddy hates the glasses you have to wear (( that is why we have mirrors ) - and if you should break the frame - YOU buy new ones at full price- only manufacturing defect DEFECT - DEFECTS --- (( LISTEN DEFECTS ) - should be covered and that is backing up the product - not replacing things you did on error with them -

SO GO AHEAD - and read that PACKAGE form the cleaning wipes - and get back to us - and post here - and fix this posting !
