Legal Affidavit Office / Harrassing phone calls

Steve Johnson called me the other day and told me he was calling from a division of Legal Affidavit Office. He told me that I or my attorney should call him regarding a time sensative issue. He wished me good luck. Then he went on to report that he had the name and number of my sister, which in itself is a joke. She produces movies and documentaries about subjects similar to this scam. A big mistake on their part and I would not call her if I was them. Also they had the name and number of a friend of mine who happens to be a practicing attorney. Again, I would not suggest calling him. Then in his message this Steve Johnson told me that this was my finalwarning and that they would send someone from the Legal Affidavit Office to get me at work. This is also very amusing to me since I don't work from my office. And my COO used to work for the CIA. He is mean guy and I don't think they want to call my office anymore. Then he said my God Bless you. What does that have to do with money or owing someone.

This has been going on for someteime now and I figure all these name and numbers are related somehow.

These [censored] called me today at work. Started with a Neal Johnson and then he transferred me to a Kevin Smith. Yeah right - with foreign accents?! Anyway, same scenario. Tried to get me to verify all my information, ss#, home address, work email address, my previous checking account number and routing number. They had it all right, but I refused to verify. Same deal, they said I owed $300 for a pay day loan I took out and never repaid. Wanted 5484.87 as payment for that. He had the nerve to ask me why I didn't pay the loan back. I kept trying to tell him that this wasn't true and he had the wrong person and he got very rude and loud with me. I knew I hadn't taken out any pay day loan and particularly not somewhere in California (I live in Kansas). He said I would find out tomorrow at 11:00. I said, "am I supposed to be in court or something" and he told me no, "they" would come and get me at my place of employment. When I asked who "they" were, he told me the cops and hung up, oh yeah, after telling me Good Luck to you. What a joke! I called the BBB and they had not yet heard of the scam, but advised me to call the police. I did, they came to my work and took a report, but they can't do anything as these people "haven't done anything wrong yet". While this is true, I'm somewhat disturbed at all the information they had on me. How and where did they get ahold of my work email????? They picked the wrong person to scam, my accounts have no money in them and my credit is shot. I couldn't pay them .54, let alone over 5400 dollars, even if I wanted to!

I just received a message at 1:00 PM EST from Kevin Jones (foreign accent - am I supposed to believe his name really is Kevin Jones with an Eastern Indian accent, I think not) on behalf the Legal Affidavit rudely telling me or my attorney to return his call or else and then proceeded to say God Bless You and Have a Good Day. He left the number 213-550-4184. As I do with all out of state numbers that I am unfamiliar with, I did some research via 411.com (I LOVE this site). It state that this was a Los Angeles, CA number through 01 Communications. So seeing that I decided to Google "Legal Affivdavit" and came across a couple of sites reporting this so-called company as a scam. I did not call them and do not plan on to since the only connection I have in California are family memebsr that I have not seen since I left there at the age of 7. And after reading other peoples entries regarding, I have not taken out a payday loan nor do I have account with the bank that has been mentioned. I am not sure how much of my info they have since I am not going to be calling back so they might as well kick rocks on thinking they will receive anything from me but silence.

Steve Johnson from the Legal Affidavit Office at US National Bank (no such entity registered) called me on my cell phone, saying I owed 5 hundred and something dollars for an old loan, and that I was going to get arrested for criminal fraud for not paying. He called from 302-760-3405 in Dover, Delaware. He had a very thick Indian accent. I know I don't have any outstanding loans so I hung up on him.

He called back screaming at me, telling me that "they" were going to come and search my home and arrest me.
I called the local police who informed me that it was a scam. There is no debtors jail, and no legitimate agency would warn you ahead of time that they are going to do a home search.

I had my husband call back and say he was with the police department, that put a quick end to the calls.

I also got a strange FaceBook friend request from Jaljesh Pandy and Atul Awasthi. No picture and no other friends. I think they were hoping I'd "Friend" them without thinking about it in an effort to get more information about me.

This really shook me up for a couple of hours. Con artists are getting more and more creative. Beware

I got a phone call today from an adam lopez with a strong indian accent...lol sure thats his name. The number he is calling from is 760-514-0152. I asked him to stop calling me of I would file a civil lawsuit against him and the company for harassment. I hung up the phone and he immediatly called back 21 times in less than an hour. They had all my info but i would not confirm it. I actually told him no when he would read something off to throw him off. He then left a message saying he would call me as many times as I could dream...like I cant press the ignore button.

My son just received a call from a man (mid-eastern accent) stating he was from "Legal Affidavit" He answered on the sixth time this phone number called (801 area code). He asked my son to confirm the last four of his SSN (which he did not) and stated that Wachovia had a judgement against him in the amount of $3, 000 and that "Legal Affidavit" was trying to help him. My son told him in no uncertain terms that he is aware this is a scam and . . . . The man laughed in response.

I have recieved numerous phone calls from 760-514-0152 with a man named David Scott (strong Indian accent) He has called me at work numerous times even after me telling him twice not to call me at work since I work in a hospital. He also calls me on my phone a thousand times a day and leaves messages stating it is very important I call him back and what not. He never states the name of the company he is calling for or what company I owe money to or what not. I feel better after looking on here and seeing that I am not the only one having issues with this. I want to know how they get all this information about us? It scares the hell out of me that they can.

to all the users above who have posted comments, the same thing as well happened to me and i'm only nineteen years of age! A "Debbie Garner" allegedly called me too from "Legal Affidavit Department" stating that a "case" has been filed against me for allegedly committing "fraud". First off, the accent was heavily foreign, secondly, I traced the number in which this "Debbie Garner" was calling me from. turns out it was in the state of NY and when I had called the number, the number was no good. and today was supposedly the day for me to file a "legal implication" at my Local courthouse in PA. IF YOU EVER GET A NUMBER IN WHICH ANY OF THE ABOVE NAMED CALL, you can trace the number (assuming they are not using a CID spoofer) and get the address to write a formal Cease Communications letter. Secondly, register your number on the Federal DO-NOT-CALL list. The website is www.donotcall.gov here, you can also submit a complaint against the company in which you were called and harassed by. these "debt collection tactics" are illegal in which they are scaring you into giving them personal information. they somehow acquired the last four digits of my social security number and "urged" me to call back. I hope I was of help as I am no lawyer, but have dealt with things like this before.

YES IT IS a scam. DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT confirm any information they have on you. Tell them you have reported them to the police and recite their phone number back to them and the state they are in. End of story. They never call back.

I just had the same thing happen to me.. A guy named "Andy Parker" (thick indian accent) called my cell phone five times before I finally picked up.. He spouted the whole legal affidavit b.s. and wanted my sister's phone number claiming that she owed a bunch of money and was gonna be in a lot of trouble if she didn't get in touch with them immediately. He also told me he had her number, he just couldn't find it at the moment so he called me, her reference. I called him out on both those lies because number one my sister never gives me as a reference and number two if he really couldn't find her number at the moment would he really call her references.. I told him I don't talk to liers and hung up. In the next three minutes I had five missed calls from him. I finally picked up and he was very nasty, threatening me in his thick, barely understandable accent. I don't know if he is going to call back but after reading all these posts I now know that there is nothing he can do to me. I feel much better after reading all these posts, I just wish there was a way to get back at the guy who threatened me, he really made me mad.

I have had the same obsessive phone calls and when I did finally call them back and refuse to give them any information they called me a mother ###er and hung up on me. So I called them back and asked for a supervisor...who spouted off all the "charges" against me and asked me to verify information and answer questions and when I refused to do that and asked him if it was okay for his workers to call the people they call mother ###ers he proceeded to say that I was a ### sucker. Just to make sure he said what I thought he said, I asked him to repeat himself and he said it ### sucker slower to me to make sure I understood. I asked him if this is how he as a professional acts on the phone with the people he calls and he said he wasn't a professional. Anyways, I called the federal trade commission and reported them. . .FTC told me to call transunion to put a credit alert on my credit (since the supervisor did tell me what my social security number was) and also to call the state trade commission. I have done all that was told for me to do and I also called the company back and let them know I had reported them. :) Some people have way too much time on their hands!!!

These people called, could barely understand the thick accent. Told him that I woul report him to FBI basically like I do everytime any scam artist calls, and they dont call back. Just tell them you are going to add the FBI on the line and for them to hold for a second, they will hang up and not call back. I work for the Department of Justice and they actually called me there. I told them to hold while I got public protection on the line and the hung up. They havent called since.
