LEE Men's Jeans review: Fabric quality 25

I've wore wore Lee most of my life and I'm 63. I have old pairs of jeans that have worn out knees and frayed pocket edges due to my construction trade that I still wear working around the house, Lees use to outlast others. Now I have not one, not two but five pairs of Lee Jeans that look brand new and were purchased months ago that have all ripped thru the material along the pocket edge and one pair in the crotch. I'm done with Lee, well over a hundred dollars in jeans that look new and are now trash.

I have never experienced such terrible customer service with a return in my life. Lee clearly doesn't understand anything about technology and why they should invest in it to improve customer experience. No ability to track a return parcel, advise it's being processed etc., basically a big black hole for going on 3 weeks. Two calls to customer service later and their attitude is basically, too bad, so sad. I've been told to call back in another 2 weeks. First and very definitely the last time I purchase from them, disgusting in this day and age with so many good companies to buy from online!

Same issue-several belt loops had ripped out, and now I have a spot that is developing a hole. I had the belt loops patched, but when I had the fourth one pull out I complained and sent them back to Lee. I received a phone call, and they hesitantly offers to replace them, but complimented the patch job, and told me that the new ones would not be any better! this is from the company-they know they are making crap. I declined the new ones and they sent me back mine. Never again will I buy Lee.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to write off LEE men's jeans altogether, owing to consistently poor quality denim cloth. I'd avoided the brand for a while for this reason, but a few weeks ago purchased another pair at Lowe's owing to a label claim of "20% Stronger Cloth." Yeah, right. These pants weren't subjected to rugged conditions. They were simply worn and machine washed a few times--less than half-a-dozen--so few times that the dye hasn't faded in the least. What I've got after such light duty are holes completely through the cloth where the inside top corners of both back pockets are joined to the pants. Another hole is starting where the corner one corner of the "leather" LEE patch is sewed on at the belt line. Here are the codes, in the unlikely event that anyone with the LEE corporation is paying attention to the complaints: RN 130273 MADE IN MEXICO 2008934 20J8934 JIM-M052-[protected]. There's obviously a persistent problem somewhere in the supply chain. The workmanship is good, but the fabric is GARBAGE, and that's something that can't be detected by the customer at the point of purchase. If you look at the dates on the complains posted here, it's pretty obvious LEE isn't getting the message.

We have purchased two pair of jeans in the past 5 months. The first pair has holes on the side of the leg. The second pair that I am wearing on vacation has a hole beginning in the area near the of the fly. It won't be long before I wont be able to wear them at all. What is the company doing about maintaining the quality of the products based on all the complaints?

I have now joined the ever lengthening list of consumers who have been swindled by Lee. If I pay good money for a product, I expect to get a reasonable amount of time out of that product. Having worn Lee jeans for 30 years I know what to expect when it comes to quality and longevity. I am not picking a number out of the sky. I have always gotten many years of hard use out of Lee jeans until a month ago. I bought a pair of Lee jeans at a high end department store, and within a couple weeks the left rear belt loop came free, and the material that it would attach to just kind of disintegrated. Also a hole developed near the left rear pocket where it attaches. Now there are holes in both knees. This is all after a few weeks! I have never, ever had a pair of jeans fall apart so soon after purchase. This is criminal to me, having seen the long list of people with the exact same problem as me. How is it that Lee is not stepping up and making this right? How is it that this is allowed to continue? How is this legal? I guess the BBB needs to be contacted.

I had emailed Lee twice now, and received no reply. After finding all these similar complaints, I am no longer wondering why they never replied. However, I am wondering how long they will try to keep silent about this abuse. Are they too busy counting the hard earned dollars we gave them for the totally inferior pants they gave us? This is beyond belief and I am truly stunned that the jeans I have sworn by for all these years is now junk, and the company that makes them has no comment! DISGRACEFUL LEE!

The one jeans I purchased were also made in India. This appeared to be quite well made. It is extremely disappointed this type of bad quality of Lee product. The hidden problem seems to have to do with very poor quality cloth.Bubbles quickly appeared near the top outside of back pockets. Rather than resulting from normal wear, the fabric has simply come apart after a few washings. If I hold the cloth up to the light it reveals the fabric has become very thin in numerous places--almost as if the substance of the denim is being reduced with each washing. The company obviously needs to keep much closer tabs on their fabric suppliers. The design and assembly are good, but that hardly matters if the material falls to bits.

I agree there is a problem with the durability of the Lee jeans out today. Any belt loop that is sewn to a single layer of denim seems to be prone to pulling loose (at the bottom). The upper inner corners of the rear pockets seem to tear loose also. The jeans do not last as long as they should. What's the problem Lee?

I am saddened to see that the quality of Lee (sold in northern Europe), just like Levis which I previously migrated from for the same reason, has now gone downhill. The fabric has suddenly become extremely thin, and abrasion will make holes at the buttocks or inner legs within a few weeks at best (if careful). Strangely, the bargain-basement brands in my country now seem to be those that have the best quality fabric. I actually have some 10-year old Lee's and Levises which I took to a repair dude (holes in those were always made due to heavy accidents like falling; not ordinary abrasion). I estimate that the fabric in them is at least twice as thick as those apparently being made today. A pretty bad development I'd like to see reversed.

Lee Jeans sold in Australia are much different to the Lee I saw in USA while on holiday. The quality is excellent, they are made in Vietnam and China, not Mexico.

I have worn Lee mens jeans for thirty years but these new jeans made in Mexico are crap. The fabric is very thin and after two weeks one pair already has a hole. All my favorite clothes have become trash. What has happened to Russell Athletic is a tragedy also.

duplicate post ( I posted this elsewhere ) but I want to add it here to:OMG! This is the exact reason I am here. Kohl's + Lee Jeans... For Christmas, I got some money and I used part of it to buy a $40 pair of Lee Jeans from Kohl's. The back pocket seam closest to the middle of the butt just self destructed, and a belt loop just detatched. That was only 1.5~2 weeks of wash and wear! I exchanged for an exact copy and now my right seam up near the hip is splitting. Well not the seam but the actual material behind the seam is disintegrating.

AGREE completely. This is a terrible batch of jeans probably from the same lot. I'm looking at Levi's again now instead.

Over the past four years I've probably bought eight pairs because I keep having to throw old pairs away. I wasn't tracking the problem until today, when I noticed a tear inthe leg of a pair that I believe I have only washed once (maybe twice). When I was a kid through my twenties at least, Lee jeans lasted forever, as evidenced by the pair I wore in college that I still wear every once in a while (I'm 49). Now its like they make them out of cheesecloth!

My partner bought a pair of lee jeans in the weekend. they lasted 3 DAYS and they have already got a whole in the seam. It is simply poor workmanship and considering we paid 75 euro for them I would expect better

Worst jeans ever. Over the past few years I have purchased Lee jeans because they seem to fit me better than the others. The jeans I have been buying have lasted a couple of years but definitely not as long as I would have expected. They seem always fall apart at the top of the pocket. They just wear right through. I figured for the price, a couple of years wasn't too bad for the fit. Just bought my most recent pair in November 2011. By February 2012 they were wearing out at the pockets again. Now it is March and there are holes there and they are close to unwearable. Untucked shirt will get me by for now. What a complete rip-off these things are. Total trash and zero quality whatsoever. I'm done with Lee, fit or no fit. Don't waste your good money on this cheap inferior product. Maybe they need to start making them in America cause they're nothing but crap right now.

I agree with everyone. My husband and son always wore Lee Jeans, but in the last two years the belt loops are coming off. These jeans have a lot of life in them yet, but they look ridiculous . I have already switched to a different brand, We don't have money to throw away on inferior products. These jeans were always bought in good department stores.

I have also had several pair 15 prob. RIP OUT AT BACK POCKETS! use to get a lot more miles out of them before this would happen & was somewhat expected, NOW after wearing 5, 6, 7 times. ( I MEAN THEY LOOK 90% NEW), they are RIPPED @ TOP INSIDE BACK POCKETS WORST & TOP OUTSIDE ALSO! I'VE SEWN A FEW PAIR UP BECAUSE THEY LOOK BRAND NEW OTHER WISE! SO whats the real story? Not to sound like a broken record but I also have bought multiple pairs of Lee Jeans and I have at least 7 or 8 pairs that had the same loop come off. My wife blamed me for pulling up on them even though I knew it wasn't caused by me. Some of the jeans were bought at Kohl's and after speaking with a manager I did mange to swap out 4 pairs. I have worn Lee Jeans for many years but NEVER again will I purchase a pair of these sub quality jeans.

I bought 4 new pair of lee jeans and on all 4 pair of them all of the loops broke free at the bottom of each one! these jeans have only been washed twice.On one pair the back pockets also started to tear at the top of each side! I am extreamly pissed off! never again will i EVER buy another pair!

Lee has never made good mens jeans I know lots of men are looking for good jeans and you need to read this

I also think the sagging pants with the boxers showing is just gross . I do not find it sexy at all .I also do not like the tight to the ankles look either but guys wear those because they feel better up top . and like the stretch they need to have !

I think the main problem stems from the companies not knowing how to actually make mens jeans,

Guys do not wear tighter better fitting jeans because the material is so thick and crushing. and offers a very poor fit .
crushing body parts when a guy sits or stopping blood flow when he bends . Jean companies seem to think they need to be a thick canvas material that could hold up in a tornado .

now woman jeans come in all shapes and sizes, they can fit tight, snug, loose or big. The material is a better quality and usually has 15%spandex in them .

Now i found that on my 6 foot 1 180 lb guy women jeans fit him perfectly . There is two pair that do really well, the first is Something called the flirt from old navy . perfect for guys just as they are ! plain and perfect fit, He no longer even needs to wear a belt and they don't fall down ! they do not fit to tight either .And they fit him better than any jeans he ever wore .

The second is 553 from levis another high spandex content jean that is perfect for men or women.

i suggest you try them for your man or yourself, now it may take a try or to to find that perfect fit since women jeans come in so many sizes . I am willing to bet if you gave them a try you will find the pair that is perfect for you, and he will look great in them, they will feel so much better and will become his favorites!

I'm totally pissed at Lee. All the stores are selling these inferior jeans. I took a pair back and exchanged for another only to have the same loop break. It is number four counting from the left front. It is located on the back left. Something needs to be investigated. Next step is the Better Business Burea when I find time and not earning my hard earned money. If that doesn't work we'll have a burn out with all disgruntled purchasers invited. Maybe someone will notice. eagle

I have also been a long time Lee jeans person and the belt loops suck now I have two pair out of the last four I lpurchased to not only break but to actually get a hole in the fabric. One pair actually ripped on the right side of the crouch and needed to be disposed of. One pair didn't even make it through the first day and the other lasted through three washings. I believe it is time to select another brand of jeans.

I also have several pair of lee jeans with the belt loop torn.5 pairs from an outlet store and 6 from a major high end store.
I've been a lee jeans wearer for 35 years. Not had a problem with them, until 3 years ago.
I called them and their response was, what do you expect from an outlet. I bought several new pairs from two different major department stores with the same outcome. It seems to be the same belt loop on all pairs of Lee jeans. Last week I noticed a co - worker had the same belt loop broken on his Lee jeans, he said he has 6 pairs with the same broken belt loop.I cant find another brand that fits the same, so I will have to live with the embarrassment of people telling me I missed a belt loop.
