Lantz Masonary & Concrete Inc / Refusal to Fix Bad Workmanship
I contracted Lantz to repair the collapsed foundation under the porch of a house I was purchasing. I was informed by Steve Lantz that they did not normally work as far north as my home but that he had 2 men working out of a nearby town that could do the work.
They came out and gave a reasonable estimate and I OK'd the bid and had them start work. There were several occasions when they did not show up when scheduled or necessary work was not getting done. On each occasion I contacted Lantz Masonary & Concrete and the workers would show up and do the work. All my contact in regards to the project was with Lantz.
This spring the foundation wall began to crack and subside, and the stairs have subsided from the foundation by about 2 inches. One of the concrete blocks had even exploded and started to cave in towards the house. When I called Lantz I was informed that they hadn't worked on the project, had nothing to do with the work, and had no responsibility for any default in the workmanship.
A few day after speaking with Steve Lantz the person who had done the work showed up at my door and said that all that needed to be done was to put some caulk in the cracks and paint over them. I then contacted another contractor and found that the foundation had not been dug down below the frost line and would need to be entirely redone.
I am now forced to take Lantz Masonary to court to try to get reimbursed for the original work so I can pay for the new contractor to redo the job correctly before the porch collapses.
