We have been customers of the Chrysler family since 1980. We have bought and serviced numerous cars with Lansdale Chrysler Jeep in Lansdale PA over thirty years. We currently own a 2011 Jeep Compass.
During the last two weeks, we took our Jeep to the certified dealership with a locks issue. Every time we would take the key out of the ignition and open the doors, we would hear a dinging noise. That dinging noise would not allow us to lock the doors. The Jeep's system is assuming that we have left the keys in the ignition when in reality we would have the keys out of the ignition.
We asked the dealership to diagnose the problem and give us a "ball park" dollar amount number to fix the problem. As an educated customer we felt that our request was reasonable. We were initially told that for around $400 a new part could be put in and solve the problem. Therefore, we authorized the work order. After the part was put in, we were told that it did not solve the problem. We were also told that the dealership could not tell us a "ball park" dollar amount to fix the problem. In fact, they did not know what it would take to fix the problem.
Bottom line is we cannot authorize Chrysler to fix the problem without knowing what the cost would be, and having a satisfaction that the work would solve the problem. We are now left with a "lemon situation". The dealership does not know what is causing the problem and cannot give us a dollar amount to work with without guaranteeing the outcome.
We are very disappointed in Chrysler. We took the car to the experts and the experts cannot fix the problem. We would like your input to their fix the problem, without an open checkbook, and with a guarantee to back there service.
