Banning
I have tried since march to have someone banned from the kijiji site who has placed an ad on kijiji slandering me, responding to ads in the intimate encounter category using my email address, taunting me, harassing me nd making me feel frightened and threatened, this person contacts me through the site ads that I have placed, I have contacted kijiji repeatedly and they have done nothing to remedy this situation, I do hope that this brings some resolution to the situation

Hello

I have a complaint about kijjii

This company is allowing scammers to use its platform without any care and support to assist consumers or persons using their website where scammers are allowed to rip off clients

I have had two experiences so far in which I was scammed and when I wrote to kijjii they offered no support

I was banned from Kijiji for not following their posting policies. I had a brand new phone and wanted to post it. Then they told me to use a different email address. I did. Now I am banned.

Do you know that MANY dogs sold on kijiji are sold to the monsters that use them for dog fighting and bait dogs?

What's wrong with you to allow any animals to be sold in your site?

My story of being cheated by Kijiji is the same as everyone else's. They shadow banned my ads and told me it was live. When I emailed to ask what was up they just ignored me. I don't even have anything valuable for sale, I tried to list a donky electric typewriter and some computer ram.
I can also confirm the support is trash and they bait you with off topic replies so they can say you're rude. I thought it was just me but I noticed every complaint here says they same thing. They purposely hire trash idiots and overseas workers for pennies who are stupid and don't understand context or just about anything. Just image you tell them you found some scammer with a $20, 000 car for $5400 and they turn it around on you and ask you to say you're not the scammer. Just a bunch of lowlifes and idiots at kijiji.

My issue with Kijiji is that they knowingly host fraudulent and criminal ads. When a complaint is filed they take the criminal's side and refuse to take their ads down. I've had two run-ins with them when I noticed fraudulent pet ads. With pet ads, the issue is not just ripping off the public financially, but animals suffer and die so some crook can make a buck. I found a scammer was posting many aggressive ads (over 100) in different parts of the Pets section, claiming to be a "rescue" that doesn't sell pets, and pressuring pet owners to surrender pets of all species for free. At the same time they had numerous ads soliciting "volunteers" for a "traveling animal show". They also had ads for a "pet sitting business" and to top it all off, were selling pets! So these crooks con people into giving them free pets, then either exploit them in their animal show staffed by inexperienced, unpaid "volunteers", or they're just flipping pets for profit. This is clearly a large and sophisticated criminal operation.

My complaints were met with lies that "Kijiji doesn't screen or monitor ads" which anyone who's been unfairly banned or had ads removed for no reason knows is a crock. Since they refused to take action against the crook, I tried posting ads of my own to warn buyers about the scam. Kijiji immediately deleted them and sent me an email stating that I had violated their policies by posting "my opinion".So much for not screening ads! They even told me that they wouldn't take down these ads unless I reported them to the police! This despite the fact that all of these ads were in clear violation of Kijii's own policies.

I called their bluff and did report the ads to the police. I wrote to Kijiji with the police report number, and got a canned letter of fake apology from them, "we're sorry you had such a bad experience". I checked their site and found the ads gone. A week later - they're back up again! I had previously complained about a kitten mill peddling mixed breed kittens as high priced purebreds, and Kijiji ignored that one as well. Kijiji is nothing but a place for crooks to fence their wares and run their scams. I'm sure they make more money from criminals than they do from honest sellers. This is why they actively protect these crooks whenever there's a complaint or police investigation. They should be shut down by federal law enforcement and charged as accessories to fraud and fencing stolen goods.

VERY TRUE! I was recently banned(I'm known as Gatomon). All because of some stupid rescues and animal activists. But years ago I was trying to take down someone who was selling malnourished baby parrots! And I'm the bad guy for taking in unwanted kittens FREE in the first place, and then rehoming them with good homes! I was actually accused of a lot of bull crap two years ago and kijiji never banned me then so why now? However, since me cracking down on them I have been unbanned.

Kijiji recently went to the "masked ID" system which actually at first, allows respondents to somehow remain anonymous. Some of them are i###ts though and reply by using an email they use for posting ads, are registered with and also to reply to sellers. Often enough they use the same IP to do so. I've had odd/weird/stupid replies to my ads, often harassed if someone doesn't like my requirements, price etc. These are often their opinions and actually not allowed as per Kijiji policy. I no longer email Kijiji to report those but instead prepare a draft and when Support is live, I use live chat to alert them to the problem. For the most part, Kijiji confirms after a few minutes of waiting, that they have found the person(s)'s messaging history and.or have their registered account name etc. Can I be sure that they at least try to deal with the issues. Yep, seems that far too many are trying to hide behind the masked ID system in place but many are too stupid to realize that it can all be tracked now. Sure there are always going to be the losers or clowns that use free wifi elsewhere and other than at their own place but that's okay too. Usually every so often someone gets themselves in trouble and doesn't know what hit 'em. For a few messages I have received, I've often replied back to those people to "bait" them and they respond in kind. That's good since it confirms they probably haven't sent from a somewhat anonymous place even if they are using an app, their smart device etc. too. Often enough they're bored and/or have such a sad miserable life that they reply to one ad out of millions on Kijiji and I see it as pretty sad if that's how they entertain themselves. Kijiji does look at my own messages back to those clowns and has sometimes advised "best to block them and ignore those types." They used to advise that instead of using live support, one should just email instead and alert their support team(s) to these problems. I found that to NOT work very well at all and I guess they didn't like when so many others contact live support when active as it does keep them hopping what with so many others playing their little games with sellers. I don't care what they advise though, I'll continue to bombard Support with my complaints since it is Kijiji that allowed others to hide for the time being. Note to those of you who might be lucky enough to get replies that include a person's phone number and they sound or appear to be trying to set you up for something OR you don't like the tone of their message etc.? I now do simple Google searches for those numbers, I also visit usedeverywhere sites and enter that phone number to see if those persons have used it for their own ads. Sometimes they're scammers using burn phones OR they are replying to harass and using YOUR number to make it seem like a legit inquiry. Sometimes it's not and I've caught them at it. "John" will reply and might include a cell number. Most people who use Facebook itself, have often used their cell number to register, run their account etc. and when I've checked Facebook and chosen "Forgot Account" etc., entering the 10-digit phone number has yielded other/different results. "John" was then found to be Mary Smith and I sent old Mary a message saying "Hi John, should I call and ask for Mary when someone answers?" Usually that ends it and I never hear from them again, sometimes the FB account is quickly altered. They're not all scammers but there are quite a few from what I've been able to track. A P.S. to way above too. I once replied to a real j### who was persistent in replying back a lot to offer me ignorance and opinions etc. I pretty much challenged the guy to just use another anonymous email, reply to the ad, arrange to see the item and "if he had the stones to come at me, let's have at it.." Guess he took the coward's way out and then reported my messages to him no less. Without warning, Kijiji halted messaging to my ad. Didn't advise me of anything, didn't delete the ad either. I went to edit it and nothing would happen. So I tried to message myself from a different email, nothing there either. Contacted Live Support, no surprise she says "did you have an issue with another user?" I told her that I did in fact continue to be harassed and what, that person complained even though they initiated all the b.s? Yep, Kijiji clown says "we don't get involved in squabbles or take sides? but I countered that with "YEAH YOU DO< you pretty much locked my ad/account based on the harassment i was receiving and WITHOUT checking anything, you DID in FACT take their side. No surprise that the Kijiji clown took the easy way out and said "Okay, do ya want us to unlock the account blah blah blah?" Of course I did but kept bashing them for this inconsistency and insulting conduct. Then told them they had better advise ALL support staff that since this one had just admitted they don't take sides, they actually did and were condoning that people were allowed to harass sellers. Does it matter at all? Sure does since even though my ads are free, no-cost to post, p*ss me off enough and I don't actually shop on Kijiji at all, advertisers won't get my attention etc. etc. Hopefully some of you can use this to your advantage. I'm an experienced seller and as a buyer, when I see something I want, I contact the seller and if they don't have any easy contact info I just reply with my own and get down to it. Unfortunately though, there will always be the classic clowns/idiots that play their little games and it is a free site after all. I often wonder how long it will be before Kijij goes to requiring/requesting legit ID as in registering by PayPal, credit card or bank account etc. and before you scoff at this, it can happen you know. I'd have no problem with that but sure, someone will try to figure out a way to get around it and so be it. I've had many good dealings with individuals but am not naive to think that they all go great. Keep safe, maybe keep much of this in mind and work towards a goal of making potential buyers do it YOUR WAY and not allowing them to alter your own terms of the sale or make it easy for themselves. I always tell the clowns "hey, I have one item for sale, Kijiji is popular and has excellent internet exposure, I ONLY need ONE intelligent buyer and frankly, you do NOT seem to be it!" Then I add LOL or another version of it...

I too have experienced problems with Kijiji discrimination. Their staff likes to play trolling games, by responding to your ads. Basically harassing you.

At one point they blocked replies to my original account and I had to create another account so I didn't have to give out my number. These Kijiji staff trolls are relentless. I have had it with them and will probably be banned now, due to my latest response to their replies. After 6 months of being bullied by these people, I no longer feel safe allowing people into my home, or evening meeting with them. Kijiji is nothing like it used to be.

New reply to old post. Yeah they "used to" do this but now it is considered to be harassment and as per policy "users are not to contact sellers with opinions etc." Basically their policies state that sellers can't offer opinions or slander others in their own ads and even though they word it carefully in those policies, when person A sends a message to you as the seller and isn't actually respecting the theme of the ad or certain requirements but might say "hey, you're asking too much" or "are you on crack or high, that ain't worth the price you're asking" they're violating policy. If I include specific requirements in my ad as "my price is firm, don't reply if you aren't willing to pay this" and someone decides to offer less, I refuse them and usually include a jab or 2 to get 'em going. They often take the bait and then blow it by harassing me. That has resulted in many a ban to those types. A new way to get them clueless is to often just block the actual masked ID that is included with everyone's reply ie: b.zwzwt1234@rts.kijiji.ca. It's unique of course, often when blocked, those individuals don't know that their messages go off into oblivion. Now IF one of them actually decides to respect the ad and really does want to buy that item, if they continue to try using that same email address to reply back, still none will reach me. A few have messaged me later on via another route and when I sold it already I really upset them I guess. Kijiji apparently retains messaging history for 30 days and by their quote one time when I had a complaint, they advised: we keep messages for 30 days for those between buyer and seller." I countered one time with the following "Jack the j### replied to harass me and I ignored him. I didn't reply to his inquiry at all so no conversation of course. I sold my item and 2 weeks later the same JACK replies to ask if I still have the item even though it is NOT posted in an ad." Kijiji then repeated that it is between buyer and seller but I countered with "umm no, this person was NOT the buyer so why the hell are you allowing JACK to continue to message me for an item thathas since vanished and I did NOT have any conversation(s) with him?" That's a Kijiji glitch and quite contradictory since Kijiji's system allows for people to reply and using the masked ID system. I would understand it if we were having a few email discussons but I didn't respond to the person and when I have sold my item already and deleted the ad, that should be the end of it! In the old ways, you had my email address, I had yours but supposedly their new system is to prevent users from receiving junk mail etc. so when I check my email 2 weeks later, I should NOT see messages from you when all of the above is now the case. Those of you getting such messages later after an ad has vanished and your situation is the same (no communication with specific individuals) COMPLAIN and bombard Kijiji Support as is your right to do so.

Oh my, oh my! What a HORRIBLE experience.
I had a few ads advertising solution manuals and test banks, as well as a couple of eBooks (for accounting and finance students). After all - I bought all of that stuff right there - on Kijiji!

After an argument and a misunderstanding, I was told that - as per new Kijiji policy - eBooks were now allowed. One of the guys available through live chat (Christopher H) confirmed it for me in a ticket. He was even happier to hear that I started paying for my ads, and said "happy to see that you reposted the ads". I decided to make one of the ads a TOP ad for $12.99. Even though numerous users were selling the same items, some funky moderator decided to not only delete my ads - but to ban me as well (2nd time around). I continued writing in the existing ticket that had previously been resolved, wrote a few messages telling Christopher H that I deserve an explanation at least and that I will call the bank and get the refund. He did not bother writing back, but made ticket "resolved". I went on live chat only to hear from Alec B that "my email is a potential security risk, as per their Trust and Safety Team", and that he "cannot discuss the matter in live chat" and that I "have to go to help desk and open another ticket". Spinning in circles, as always.

What really happened?
There ARE people who live off selling eBooks and solution manuals to students. They never sleep and they always reply within 3 minutes. (I bothered to test it during the winter break.) You can recognize them by their style of writing, they have a couple accounts open at all times (in case their ads are deleted on the other ones), and they basically LOBBY the ground with their 100 ads, some of them made up and serving as a cover up for $40 eBook ads that bring in money. When I asked Christopher why that user is allowed to sell items that I am not, he basically just sent me to open a ticket.

Very unprofessional, Kijiji!

I told my friend yesterday "I am starting to think Kijiji is owned by a few losers who just happened to have a little bit of extra cash to spare, and he said "Isn't that always the case?"

I guess...

I agree completely with you guys. They have blocked me for no reasons too and I'm done fighting. I found a new site that is growing with us called www.usedeverywhere.com. They actually have a "phone number" where you can contact them if you have a problem. They are growing really fast and are really taking any feedback if you need one in your area. I called them myself and the next morning I got a called from them. I was really shocked because I never thought that would actually call. They were so nice and took my recommendation. They are building a site for us where I asked and I want to help them grow. If you want to do the same, just email or call. They are very nice.

I'M DONE FIGHTING WITH IMATURE PEOPLE ON KIJIJI.

I'm not going to lie, Kijiji is really pushing their attempts on controlling users and what they're posting. I agree that their employees tend to be aggressive and spiteful. I think Kijiji is heading themselves underground with their insentivity and power-hungry nature. It is sickening to think that this was once a user-friendly site that became user-ugly. UGLY and I mean UGLY. Users should start making the switch before things get worse. Why must everything get this way, even the good things?
Thats generally how it works with any popular entity. I compare them to balloons. Eventually they get so BIG, they POP.

Well, they got their contracts with big big companies for years to come, they got their money, now they will not care about real users... USERS SHOULD BAN THEM BACK! Cause too many people have the same problems. To us - several people in a building using same IP adress - they advised to go to use internet in a coffee shop or library, because to them it looks like multiple accounts, 1 IP adress can have only 1 advertiser... Well, they are biting the hand which is REALLY feeding them, us, users, sooner or later companies will find out how they treat users, and stop paying Kijiji too - cause people start to go less and less to their web site - you don't really think any of the guys ran to library to use Kijiji, do you? We simply stopped advertise with them, frustrated. BAN THEM!

Nothing but a bunch of forum nazi's and [censor] kissers! YEP! I got blocked for trying to validate my argument! I've apparently been banned - at least, my ads never go through - for no apparent reason at all. I've never posted anything of a questionable nature and when I lived in Calgary I successfully sold several items on Calgary Kijiji to down-size for my move to Saskatoon. Since I moved to Saskatoon I haven't been able to post a single ad and have never received any responses to my emails asking why. I've never been rude to anyone at Kijiji in any way, shape, or form, and it's really frustrating not knowing why they won't take my ads and won't even tell me why.

funny how kijiji works i just got a lifetime ban for being rude as they call it to the support staff after the support staff had got rude with me, so now the guy i was rude with has banned me for life, nice eh, but yet i submit a ticket about him being ignorant and i get no response...people behind power use it to there advantage even when its wrong.
